Today, we're featuring Bill Zabala, a seasoned film editor with a remarkable journey in both film and life.Born in San Bernardino and raised in Upland, California, Bill is a proud member of the first full television generation and developed a love for movies at just 8 years old. His early passion for cinema led him to explore drama in college, but a career on the stage took a detour when Bill left school to go on tour as a drummer before serving in the Army. After 17 months in Germany and working for the Gas Company, a chance meeting with friends in the television industry led Bill to Universal studios and a career in filmmaking. Bill went on to become a wonderful film editor, helping bring stories to life on screen.

A 46 años del episodio conocido como el caso de los vinos envenenados, el exsubcomisario Juan Ricardo Zabala fue procesado con prisión por el asesinato de Cecilia Fontana de Heber. La decisión la tomó la jueza Silvia Urioste el pasado viernes, en el que hubiese sido el cumpleaños número 96 de Fontana. Zabala fue procesado “en calidad de presunto coautor penalmente responsable de un delito de homicidio especialmente agravado y muy especialmente agravado”. Cumplirá la prisión preventiva en la cárcel de Domingo Arena, en un caso que, como todos los previos a la reforma realizada en 2017, se rige por el llamado “código viejo” del proceso penal. Zabala revistaba en el SID, el Servicio de Inteligencia y Defensa del Ejército, y sus huellas dactilares fueron halladas en la botella cuyo contenido mató a Cecilia Fontana el 26 de agosto de 1978. El vino estaba mezclado con un pesticida. Fontana era la esposa del dirigente nacionalista Mario Heber, parte del triunvirato que dirigía en forma clandestina el Partido Nacional durante la dictadura cívico militar. La botella de vino en cuestión había llegado como un regalo para Heber, y lo mismo recibieron otros dos dirigentes nacionalistas: Luis Alberto Lacalle Herrera y Carlos Julio Pereyra. El remitente firmaba "M.D.N.", e incluía una dedicatoria para "brindar por la Patria en su nueva etapa". Ni Pereyra ni Lacalle Herrera llegaron a probar sus respectivos vinos. El caso fue objeto de una investigación parlamentaria apenas se recuperó la democracia, que no llegó a asignar ninguna responsabilidad. Luego la causa tuvo varios pasajes por la Justicia; esta última investigación comenzó cuando el senador Luis Alberto Heber, hijo de Mario Heber y de Cecilia Fontana, solicitó su reapertura en 2020. Los hijos de Cecilia Fontana celebraron el procesamiento de Juan Ricardo Zabala. Fernando Heber publicó en redes sociales que “si uno cree en su verdad, no hay que temer, solo esperar su tiempo”, y destacó que le pudieron dar “un poco de paz” a sus padres. Su hermano, el senador Luis Alberto Heber, publicó un video al respecto. “Nuestra familia, a partir del 78, no tuvo madre. Nuestros hijos no conocieron a su abuela. Hoy están naciendo sus bisnietos. Lo que nos resta decir es que ha triunfado la vida frente a la muerte, ha triunfado el amor frente al odio. Para nosotros es justo que en un país estas aberraciones humanas no queden impunes”.
