Rocky Patel Premium Cigars consistently ranks among the busiest booths at the Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show, and 2025 was no exception. On Day Three, the Coalition Team dropped by the booth, which was still alive with energy. A key highlight was the celebration of the company's 30th anniversary, a milestone that owner Rocky Patel takes immense pride in. However, this year's show marked a departure from past events. A decade ago, it was typical for Rocky Patel to unveil multiple new regular production lines. In recent years, though, he has scaled back these usual releases, and in 2025, only three new products were introduced, all designated as limited editions. Full PCA Report: https://wp.me/p6h1n1-wGy

Our November Full Bio selection is John Lewis: A Life, written by author David Greenberg. Greenberg interviewed Lewis before his death as well as over 250 people for a comprehensive biography about the U.S Congressman, Civil Rights Activist, and preacher of getting into, as he called it, "good trouble." On Day Three, we reflect on why John Lewis decided to run for public office for both the Atlanta City Council and the U.S. Congress, and the kind of reputation he earned as a politician in Washington.
On Day Three of the 2024 Skagit County Fair, Don Wick and I once again had the pleasure of interviewing some remarkable folks who each make a unique contribution to the Fair's success. We started our interview series with Ron Stubbs, whose Hypnotic Mayhem has delighted and mystified audiences for more than three decades. But Ron is also a “talent buyer” for casinos throughout the country. You'll learn more about this talented gent (who grew up within walking distance of Don Wick's childhood home) and get some some insight into how hypnosis works from a guy who started off as a sceptic. Our next interview was with Robert Demarais, who in addition to being the owner of Sound Cedar, a major sponsor of the Fair, has recently founded the Skagit County Fairgrounds Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping fund the operations of our beloved Fairgrounds through grants and donations. For our third interview, Don and I were pleased to interview Kristen Keltz, who seven months ago became the president of the Skagit Tourism Bureau after having served as the CEO of the Mount Vernon Chamber of Commerce for fourteen years. We wanted to learn how one goes about promoting our beautiful Magic Skagit, but we also wanted to know about Kristen's own history with the Skagit County Fair and her lifelong relationship with it. If you've ever fantasized about running away and joining the circus, you'll find Don's and my fourth interview of Day Three to be especially interesting. Jason Barker, the ringmaster of Vuelta La Luna, brought his entire troupe with him to tell us their history and describe their unique talents. Meet Eros, Miss Ella, and Kendra — and discover how they came to embrace circus life. Our fifth interview was with Caitlin Villaroman, a volunteer with Sardis Raptor Center, which started as an all species rehab organization and has since evolved into a rescue center for raptors ranging from bald eagles to eurasian eagle owls. Her participation at the Fair is part of her organization's education efforts. Young and old alike come away from Caitlin's daily presentations with a new appreciation for the amazing birds that call Sardis Raptor Center their home. Please note that the sound quality of these recorded interviews is a bit rough. Don and I were competing with the 4H and FFA lifestock auction that was going on in the Pavilion where the Meyer Sign History Booth is located. Think of it as the ambient background of the Fair, and it certainly won't detract from your admiration of the folks we were fortunate enough to speak with today. They're a part of what makes our Skagit County Fair a cherished annual event!

About 3 years ago, I had an idea of how to improve patient education, get the message consistent every single time, and improve conversion rates significantly. Here's what it is, I'll highlight one of the "patient interactive videos" that we have our patients watch during the FROF appointment (formal report of findings). Hey Weight Loss Nation! www.TheWeightLossNation.com Happy 2019! It's a NEW Year! You have a clean slate! Leave any negativity you had behind you. Every New Year's Eve....Millions of people make New Year "RESONLUTIONS." All these people are ready to take on the world to.....Lose 100lbs.....Make a Million Dollars....take a trip "Around the World,"......and many, many other types of RESOLUTIONS. The "hard" fact is.......just about 8% of people will achieve their New Year's RESOLUTION. Why you ask? It's a simple answer. The majority of us have competing priorities in our lives. We have kids, we have pets, we help take care of our parents, our grand-parents.....we volunteer at very passionate places....AND.....we WORK! It is soooo difficult to meet an outrageous, difficult RESOULUTION, while you are "Living" your life! The Fact is..... HUGE New Year RESOLUTIONS are a "set-up" for Failure.....right from the start. Let's look at an alternative. Make a TANGIBLE....AND......ATTAINABLE GOAL! Let's use this example..... "I'm going to stop eating candy for 30 days, knowing it will help MY body BURN more fat." This GOAL is TANGIBLE AND ATTAINABLE! This GOAL will make YOUR body healthier....AND....YOU will FEEL better!" That's a WIN...WIN situation! Now that you have your TANGIBLE AND ATTAINABLE GOAL in place...Let me help YOU "ACHEIVE" your GOAL. By using POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS.....YOU "WILL" Propel yourself towards attaining your goal This is what you will need to use Positive Affirmations: 1. A Mirror 2. Your Voice That's it! www.TheWeightLossNation.com So.,...here are THREE Positive Affirmations I want you to SAY next week....into YOUR Bathroom Mirror. On Day One.....after you have finished your morning "routine," you will look into the Mirror and say..... "YOU" Can Be The Best! Next.....point to YOURSELF in the Mirror and say..... "YOU" Can Be The Best! Write down this Affirmation on 2 "Sticky" notes. Place one on your Refrigerator and then place one on the Driver's rear sun shade in your car. Every time you go to the refrigerator....look at the affirmation and SAY it....."Out Loud." Every time you pull down the sun shade in your car ...look at the affirmation and SAY it....."Out Loud." On Day TWO.....Repeat Step #1 On Day Three.....after you have finished your morning "routine," you will look into the Mirror and say..... "I AM Happy." Write down this Affirmation on 2 "Sticky" notes. Place one on your Refrigerator and then place one on the Driver's rear sun shade in your car. Every time you go to the refrigerator....look at the affirmation and SAY it....."Out Loud." Every time you pull down the sun shade in your car ...look at the affirmation and SAY it....."Out Loud." On Day Four.....Repeat Step #Three. On Day Five....after you have finished your morning "routine," you will look into the Mirror and say..... "WILL I make a Difference in Someone's Life Today?" This type of question leads to ACTION! I say this AFFIRMATION EVERYDAY and I Mean It! When you make someone "SMILE," You make an impact in their life! Write down this Affirmation on 2 "Sticky" notes. Place one on your Refrigerator and then place one on the Driver's rear sun shade in your car. Every time you go to the refrigerator....look at the affirmation and SAY it....."Out Loud." Every time you pull down the sun shade in your car ...look at the affirmation and SAY it....."Out Loud." So.....by saying these affirmations next week.....I know you will build up your self-esteem and be on your way to attaining your GOAL! Hey Weight Loss Nation! www.TheWeightLossNation.com If you are ready to "finally" lose weight and keep it off forever, you need to "join Weight Loss Nation." Chapter OneMr. Brown liked three things: ghost books, cheese, and cats.“I will buy a bookstore,” said Mr. Brown. And he did!He sold only ghost books. Then he said, “I need a friend. I will get a cat.”And he did!His cat was not like other cats. She did not like fish. But she loved cheese.Mr. Brown and his cat ate cheese for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They lived above the bookstore.Mice lived in their house, too.Chapter TwoOne day, a woman came in to buy a book. She saw a mouse.“Eeeek!” she screamed. She ran out of the store.A man ran out, too.“The Black Cat Bookstore has mice,” they said.Nobody wanted to come to the store.“This is your job,” Mr. Brown told his cat.“You are the cat. You catch the mice.”So the cat went to the mouse hole. The mice were scared. But the cat said, “I am not like other cats. I like mice.”And she did!The cat and the mice played together.Mr. Brown was not happy.“Those mice are scaring people away!” he said.“If they do not come in to buy my books, I will have to close the store down. You have three days to catch the mice,” he told his cat.“Tomorrow is Day One.”“Mr. Brown says you are scaring the people away,” the cat said to the mice.“But this is a ghost bookstore,” said a mouse. “It should be scary.”Then the cat said, “I have a plan.”Chapter ThreeDay One came.Day One for the cat and Day One of the plan.A boy was walking by the store.CRASH!A book fell off a shelf.THUMP!Another book fell on the floor.“Did you see that?” said the boy.He went into the store.CRASH! THUMP!More books fell.“The Black Cat Bookstore has a real ghost,” the boy said. Then his friends came into the store.Day Two came.Day Two for the cat and Day Two of the plan. The ghost was very busy.So was the store.Everyone wanted to see the ghost. The cat purred. Her plan was working. On Day Three, the store was busier than ever.At the end of the day, there was only one book left!“I will not have to close the store down after all,” said Mr. Brown to his cat.“Tonight, we will celebrate. We will have a cheese feast.”Chapter Four“I like my ghost,” said Mr. Brown.“But I still don’t like those mice. Have you caught them?”The cat purred. She rubbed against Mr. Brown’s legs. Then she walked away.“Shall I follow you?” he asked. He followed her to a bookshelf.“Maybe I will see my ghost,” he said. The mice waited for him. They pushed the last book off the shelf.CRASH!The mice looked at Mr. Brown.Mr. Brown looked at the mice.“I see,” said Mr. Brown.“Do ghosts like cheese?” he asked the mice. Now they all live together. The store is always busy. And Mr. Brown likes four things: ghost books, cheese, his cat…and his ghost!

PROVED: Technique Beats Inspiration Wizard Academy completed an experiment last Thursday and we're prepared to share the results of it. Amateur musicians were gathered from across North America. We refused to allow them to create music in the manner they preferred. Instead, we showed them video clips of Bob Dylan, Elton John, Richard Carpenter and other musicians explaining the tricks they used to create the greatest hits the world has ever known. Our musicians were required to do as they had been instructed. The objective of this experiment was to determine if success in the arts might be less dependent on talent, sincerity and inspiration than we have previously assumed. This is not to say the amateur musicians who volunteered to be the objects of our experiment were untalented, insincere or lacked inspiration. They simply weren't allowed to access these traits and characteristics. Instead, they were given specific techniques, narrow guidelines, insufficient instruments and not nearly enough time. The 17 spent the morning of the first day in training and instruction. Four of the 17 were writers. At lunchtime, the musicians were sent to the banquet hall while Trisha Sylvestre, Ashley Leroux, Mark Forrester and Scott Broderick were asked to randomly choose 4 strong emotions apiece and write a dozen short lines about each emotion. They were given a total of 28 minutes to do all of this. Their 7-minute writings were later distributed randomly to the musicians who were told these “song lyrics” could not be altered in any way. Each musician's assignment was to write music that expressed whatever emotion was precisely opposite the lyrics they had been given. They were then told to sing those lyrics to the music they had written. Words of rage were sung joyfully. Words of hatred were sung lovingly. Words of happiness were sung sadly. Words of anxiety were sung calmly. Deep thoughts were sung as shallow little ditties. This first exercise taught the musicians the techniques of random entry and contradiction. The songs they created were shockingly interesting. On Day Two the writers presented the musicians with a second set of lyrics that employed additional techniques they had learned. And instead of 7 minutes, the writers were allowed a luxurious 20 minutes per song. Did I mention the only instruments the musicians were allowed to use were conga drums, a violin, a flute, a bass clarinet, a harmonica, an acoustic guitar, a melodeon, an electric keyboard and an electric bass? In other words they were given instruments that could not possibly be combined to create what had been demanded of them. And yet they did it anyway. On Day Three all the songs were recorded live. No corrections or alterations were made in post-production. And just to keep things fair, the writers were each told they had to write and deliver a spoken word performance. https://wizardacademy.org/scripts/prodList.asp?idCategory=385 (Want to hear the results?)
