The Houston Texans are two days away from facing the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs. Quarterback C.J. Stroud and his offense will face cold temperatures, mild winds and a deafening crowd at Arrowhead Stadium in an attempt to knock off the two-time defending Super Bowl champions and earn the franchise's first AFC Championship appearance. "I don't have any reservations about who C.J. is," ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky said. Orlovsky, who played quarterback for 12 seasons in the NFL, acknowledged Stroud's phenomenal play but is concerned about the offense's efficiency against a high-pressure Chiefs' defense. "Every play, you're expecting a blitz, so it doesn't surprise you." Kansas City's defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo will look to expose the protection issues of the Texans' offense, but Orlovsky has an idea as to how Texans' offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik can combat the blitz: "perimeter screens."

Send us a textIn this jam-packed episode of *2 Giants Goofballs: New York Giants News & Updates,* Drew and Rob dive deep into the latest developments surrounding the New York Giants, including a potential game-changing quarterback acquisition, major injury updates, and an in-depth preview of Week 17 NFL matchups. This episode brings Giants fans up to speed on all the critical storylines as the season barrels toward its conclusion. The episode kicks off with a buzzworthy prediction from ESPN Draft Insider Matt Miller, who boldly claims the Giants will select Miami quarterback Cam Ward with the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Ward has put together a jaw-dropping season at Miami, completing 67.4% of his passes for 4,123 yards, 36 touchdowns, and just seven interceptions. Additionally, his ability to make plays with his legs—adding 146 rushing yards and four touchdowns—makes him a dynamic option for the Giants' future. Adding to the discussion, former NFL quarterback and current analyst Dan Orlovsky weighs in with his thoughts on how the Giants can fix their woes. Orlovsky stresses the importance of rebuilding the offensive and defensive lines, citing the team's past success underpinned by strong line play. He recalls the days of players like Rodney Hampton, Justin Tuck, Osi Umenyiora, and Brandon Jacobs, arguing that the Giants have lost their identity as a line-of-scrimmage-dominant team. The conversation shifts to the present with updates on the Giants' quarterback situation for Week 17. Drew Lock is set to start against the Colts, despite a rough season in which he has completed just 52.7% of his passes for 624 yards, one touchdown, and four interceptions in six games (three starts). The Giants are 0-3 in Lock's starts, and the hosts discuss whether he can show any improvement or if the Colts game might serve as a final evaluation for his future with the team. Injury news continues to plague the Giants. Promising rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers is battling a toe injury, making him a game-time decision for Sunday's matchup. Nabers has been a revelation this season, amassing 969 receiving yards and closing in on a historic rookie campaign. He needs just 31 yards to become the Giants' first 1,000-yard receiver since Odell Beckham Jr. in 2018 and three catches to hit 100 receptions, a milestone no Giants rookie has ever achieved. The injury bug doesn't stop there. Safety Raheem Layne's season ends prematurely after he tore his meniscus against the Falcons, just one day after being promoted to the active roster. . Meanwhile, linebacker Dyontae Johnson is activated off injured reserve after missing most of the season due to an ankle injury sustained in the preseason. Drew and Rob discuss how Johnson's return could bolster a depleted defense, noting his journey from undrafted rookie free agent to contributor. Whether you're looking for insights into the Giants' future, updates on key injuries, or a detailed breakdown of the Week 17 NFL slate, this episode of *2 Giants Goofballs* has it all. When Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field Monday, several sports analysts called it the scariest scene they'd ever seen on a football field. Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest after a routine tackle and remains in critical condition. As ESPN analyst and former player Ryan Clark described in an emotional segment, no one had prepared for this, not Hamlin, not the other players, and not media personnel. But ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky knew what to do when he didn't know what else to do. Appearing on NFL Live Tuesday morning, he said, "Maybe this is not the right thing to do but it's just on my heart that I wanna pray for Damar Hamlin right now. I'm gonna do it out loud, I'm gonna close my eyes, I'm gonna bow my head and I'm just gonna pray for him." And that's what he did. The other hosts on set joined, as did who knows how many viewers. Maybe some were comforted. Maybe others learned what it means to talk with God. It was a powerful and courageous thing to do. After praying for healing and comfort for Damar Hamlin, Orlovsky closed with: "If we didn't believe that prayer didn't work we wouldn't ask this of you God. I believe in prayer. We believe in prayer. We lift up Damar Hamlin's name in your name." And to that we can all say, “Amen.” This Point was originally published on January 5, 2023.
