Patrick Rodgers speak with staff reporters Kelsey Beyeler and Eli Motycka about ongoing protests at Vanderbilt University. As we've covered heavily in recent weeks, pro-Palestinian activism on campus this semester has been met with bureaucratic opposition. (Eli ultimately faced no charges and was released within a matter of hours.) Chancellor Daniel Diermeir continues to face mounting pressure from students, faculty, local lawmakers and members of the community who say the school's response has been “excessive and punitive.”We dive into all that and much more in this week's episode. The Mother & Baby Homes - often called the "Magdalene Laundries", where young women were sent to give birth before having their children taken away from them - are a stain on Irish history, with many of the children born there having suffered neglect, abuse and trauma. Those children went on to become adults, and many of them left our island to find a better future abroad. The wrong done to those children and their parents has since been recognised by the state, and attempts are afoot to try to compensate them in some way, but because of how the system is set up, many will get nothing. Patrick Rodgers and Fréa do their best to help Irish people in Britain to deal with their trauma and to avail of the services and compensation that they might be due, and he joined me on this week's podcast to talk about his vital work.

Welcome to the FFF and welcome to another episode of The Magic of where we provide in-depth profiles on clubs from all over the world. We like to cover a whole range of clubs - from those with a rich history to those with new beginnings, massive clubs with international support to smaller clubs with a modest yet equally passionate fanbase, and clubs you've most likely heard of to ones you likely haven't. This episode focuses on a club most of you should know very well. The historic Glaswegian powerhouse, Celtic Football Club. We'll give you a brief rundown of the club's gloriously successful history and then cap it off with a chat I had at the start of July with lifelong Celtic supporters Patrick Rodgers and Paul Sheridan. This week Dave and Nephi sit down to talk about mule deer migration with Patrick Rodgers, a University of Wyoming grad research associate at the Wyoming Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit. They discuss the science of migration; riding the green wave; impacts of development; and whether hunting triggers migration. They also discuss Pat's recent film, "92 Miles: A Migration Story" where he chronicles his experience running a mule deer migration route from the peaks of the Mount Zirkel Wilderness in CO to the sage hills of Southern WY. Patrick Rodgers - was born and raised in Casper, WY, the son of a wildlife filmmaker, and grew up hunting, fishing, and partaking in any outdoor activity he could try his hand at. Pat is also an avid endurance athlete, primarly Nordic ski racer and ultramarathoner. He has a passion for wildlife and the outdoors and works as a biologist and science communicator at the Wyoming Migration Initiative to raise awareness and educate the public on big game migrations in the West. One of his focal study species, the mule deer, has declined by over 30% since the 90's. In 2018, as a graduate research associate, Pat decided to raise awareness of the challenges of mule deer migrations, which are critical to the persistence of many deer herds, by running 92 miles along the migration corridor of the herd he studied. But before the run took place, Pat lost his father to a grueling battle with melanoma cancer. Pat's father, Neil, was a huge supporter of the run and cultivated Pat's passion for the outdoors from a young age. 92 Miles, a documentary film by Cold Collaborative and sponsored by Yeti and Sitka Gear, highlights the burliness of mule deer migrations and how Pat's run through the mountains was a personal migration through grief and the loss of his father. The film is set for online release in late spring/early summer of 2021. Bobby is joined by Pat to discuss, Photography, "92miles" Film, US Wildlife, Deer, Wildlife Migration, Colorado, Wyoming, Hunting, outdoors, Ultra Running, Film Making, Family & much more. This week's issue of the Scene covers a lot of ground, beginning with the eighth annual Nashville Fashion Week. NFW kicks off on April 3 at OZ Arts, and NFocus editor and Scene Contributor Nancy Floyd chatted with all six designers featured in this year’s opening-night designer showcase. Among those designers is Maria “Poni” Silver, the recipient of this year’s Nashville Fashion Forward Fund. In this week’s Scenecast, Floyd sits down with Silver to talk about her inspiration, which is rooted in the experiences of Silver's mother, a Dominican immigrant who lived in New York City in the 1970s. Scene editor D. Patrick Rodgers also talks staff writer Steven Hale about his story on the mock executions that take place at Tennessee’s Riverbend Maximum Security Institution. You can listen below, as well as on iTunes, Stitcher and TuneIn (which is also available through Amazon Echo devices). Rate us on iTunes and leave a comment if you like what you hear.
For the Scene’s second annual food-industry survey, we made a list of chefs, general managers and owners at many of the best restaurants in town and made them a deal — we give you a list of questions, and all we ask is that you respond with honesty. The participants run the gamut from experienced veterans with decades in town to talented newcomers, with a diverse mix of ages, races and genders. We asked more than 60 people to participate, and roughly 40 responded. By agreeing to withhold their identities, we got a look at Nashville’s dining scene through the eyes of those most responsible for its current success. This week, editor D. Patrick Rodgers sits down with contributors Steve Cavendish and Chris Chamberlain to talk about the responses we got — from the best desserts in town to the worst trends, who deserves a Beard Award and more. You can listen below, as well as on iTunes, Stitcher and TuneIn (which is also available through Amazon Echo devices). Rate us on iTunes and leave a comment if you like what you hear.
In this week's cover package, we have a look at the state’s long and complicated relationship with cannabis — both industrial hemp, which can be grown by licensed farmers as part of a state pilot program, and marijuana, the use of which is still illegal both for medical and recreational purposes. Pick up a copy or visit nashvillescene.com to read more about that. But flip to the back of the paper and you'll find our run-down of this year's Academy Award nominees. In our latest Scenecast, Scene editor D. Patrick Rodgers, Nfocus editor Nancy Floyd, Scene and Nashville Post staffer Stephen Elliott, and Scene staffer Steven Hale discuss our picks for Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Actress in a Leading Role, and more. We cover everything from the cultural impact of 'Get Out' and 'Lady Bird' to the performances in 'I, Tonya,' sound design in 'Dunkirk' and everything that's wrong with 'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.' Fair warning: At least one of us did not like 'Three Billboards.' At all.
McKamey Manor, just an hour south of Nashville, holds frightening intrigue for thrill-seekers from all over the world. The notoriously extreme haunted house subjects willing visitors to activities that push them to their mental and physical limits, which are then broadcast to eager fans across the internet. This week, editor D. Patrick Rodgers and culture editor Megan Seling sit down to talk about the house of horrors, its complicated legality and why, despite the terror, people just can’t get enough.
On this week’s bonus Scenecast, managing editor D. Patrick Rodgers talks to longtime local country singer Margo Price about her powerful second solo record, All American Made, out now via Third Man Records. The two talk about the sophomore slump (or lack thereof), politics in country music, touring the country in 2017, hanging out with Willie Nelson and more.
We talk to James Peisker and Chris Carter of Porter Road Butcher about the state of meat in Nashville. It's been more than five years since they opened their independent, whole-animal butcher operation in East Nashville. What have they learned? What does Nashville like to eat? What don't people know about the meat they buy in grocery stores? Then, D. Patrick Rodgers reviews "Patti Cake$," the new "Juno" meets "8 Mile" film about an underdog rapper.
Michele Cuomo, Dean of Arts and Humanities, chats with Patrick Rodgers, Galleries Director at the college, about the 2017-2018 exhibitions.
The solar eclipse is coming and Nashville is in its path. Managing Editor D. Patrick Rodgers talks about the hordes descending on Music City, the shadow snakes you might see, how to not burn your eyes and, most importantly, one astrologer's claim that the eclipse might herald some huge changes — goodbye President Trump? Then, Music Editor Stephen Trageser reviews the new Kesha album (spoiler alert: it's good), plays some clips and discusses the Nashville singer's legal problems.

Yet, companies can struggle with incorporating prospecting into the sales process and getting people to balance the time spent prospecting compared with the all important task of closing the deal. This issue can be especially prevalent with leaner bootstrapped companies. Today, we will learn about an innovative method of solving this problem and attracting new sales talent. Today, I speak with Patrick Rodgers who is VP of Sales at LearnCore a leading sales training and coaching platform that combines technology with people for optimum results. Patrick is leading and building the sales organization for this bootstrapped company. We talk about the idea of prospecting as a sales function and some of the challenges when expecting AEs to close and prospect. Episode Highlights: Challenges of scaling a bootstrapped company Difficulty of finding AEs who would go through the entire sales cycle Starting a 9 - 12 month sales training focused on prospecting Learning the process from start to finish they became top producers The program allowed growth acceleration and attracted talent Getting a perspective from different sales representatives Sales roles in the sales funnel process Shadowing into different areas and hitting sales goals Opening doors for the team and making it an easier path Challenges getting AEs to value the meetings set up by SDRs Having a blueprint for AEs so that SDRs and AEs work together Moving from sheer will to habit when changing roles Breaking down the training perspective into a career path Resources: LearnCore Patrick Rodgers on LinkedIn Patrick Rodgers on Twitter @P_Rodge

Holly G is in the studio with special guest hosts Mike Jamison, The Examiner.com and Jamison Golf Group and Brendan Sweeney, Director of Golf Media and Player Relations at French Lick Resort, Ind. are in the studio for the Ultimate Holiday Show for the last show of this year. Mike was at the Golf Fore Kids at Mesquite Nevada, more than 500 players brought about 800 toys for needy children. Mike wrote an article about the event for the Examiner that can be read here. Todd Lewis, The Golf Channel, calls in to talk to the gang about the last couple of weeks in the world of golf. Todd was in the Bahamas for the Hero World Challenge, an event that Tiger hosts but could not play because of the recent back surgeries. Todd was also surprised that the greatest player of his generation may never be great again. Todd is interested to when Tiger will come back and if he can compete with the big three in golf: Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth and Jason Day. He believes Tiger would get in the Top 15 or 20 but maybe not the Top 10 again. Todd says that there are going to be some equipment changes and some very prominent players in the start of January 2016. Doing that will take some adjustments for all the players so it will take some time. Patrick Rodgers, All American at Stanford, may be a star in the making after earning a Tour exemption through playing and winning under sponsors exemptions. Holly asks about Sergio Garcia's chances of making a comeback but Todd feels that maturity and momentum will be major factors for Sergio. Bob Harig, ESPN.com, calls in to the show and talks with the trio. Bob was at the Hero World Challenge and talks about Tiger's press conference. Tiger is not sure when he is going to be able to do anything for the next couple of months. If he doesn't do anything on the golf course, he'd be okay with that given all his accomplishments. Tiger has not being able to practice. So much remains to be seen. Tiger can't rush back this time and he knows it ... he has to be completely healed. Bob recently wrote an article It's not time to write off Tiger Woods. Holly asks Bob about Tiger's recent interview with Tiger Woods in Time magazine. Bob and Holly talk about Bubba Watson's statement that if he reaches number one in the world he will retire from golf. Bob thinks there is plenty of more golf years with Bubba. Brendan asks Bob about Bubba Watson being missed if he walked away from golf would he be missed? Jordan Spieth made the putt on the 16th hole at St Andrews to tie and to know that he could have gone on to win the grand slam. Unfortunately he bogeyed the next hole and didn't win the third major, but the fact that he came that close to winning a grand slam is one of the top moments of this golf year. Steve Eubanks, Global Golf Post, calls in to wrap up the show. Steve feels that Rory will be determined to win the Masters. Lydia Ko is the Jordan Spieth of ladies golf. The person to watch is Sei Young Kim, this year's rookie of the year on the LPGA Tour. Steve also talks about the upcoming Olympics in 2016. The Golf Insiders will return around the end of January 2016 around the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando.

Holly G and Rich Bianco are in the studio this week with a wrap up of The Players Championship won by Martin Kaymer. Bob Harig, ESPN.com, calls in to talk about The Players and Kaymer's adventure on the 17th hole on the final day. The duo talk about Kaymer coming back to form after being the number one in the Official World Golf Ranking. Holly and Bob talk about players who are winning but are changing their swings. Tiger Woods recently spoke about the changes to his swing... paraphrasing ... when you play at this level and you are standing at the tee and you have to hit a draw, you have to be able to do it. If you can't, you are in trouble. Holly talks to Bob about Jordan Spieth going bogey free for 54 holes and the day he had Sunday. This was the 2nd big tournament that he wasn't able to win after being in the final group. Bob remarks that Spieth only turned pro 18 months ago and he is only 20 years old. He has been successful but what should we expect? Bob thinks that Spieth's swing gets a little quick when he is under the gun and maybe he needs to work on that? "Nobody else but Tiger has been this successful at such a young age. It's not fair to compare Tiger to anyone." Holly asks about Rory McIlroy's play. Bob says that he will see a good test at Wentworth on the European Tour this weekend. Normally, like Ponte Vedra, Rory doesn't play well at Wentworth. If he plays well there it is a good indicator of where his game is. With the U.S. Open coming up, Bob and Holly also take a look at Phil Mickelson's game of late and missing the cut at The Players. Michael Collins, ESPN's Sr. Writer and Video Talent, calls in to the show and gives some great insight about caddies on the Tour. Rich B asks Michael about Spieth's caddie and if he is shrink. Michael says that all caddies are pseudo psychologists among many other things for the Tour player. Every player is different and needs different things from their caddies. Michael mentions that professional caddies Mark Carens and Ted Scott have put together ProCaddyWorkout videos on YouTube demonstrating short videos on how caddies stay in shape for the Tours. Golfweek's Collegiate reporter Lance Ringler calls in to update listeners about the upcoming men's and women's NCAA playoffs. The women had 3 regionals last week and 24 teams advanced with no surprises except for Vanderbilt who won the East by about 14 strokes. Men's Collegiate golf gets underway May 15 and only the Top 5 teams advance. Lance shares that teams can't win a national championship if they are not at the championship. Lance says that there is currently a lot of parody in men's college golf. Individually Lance says that Patrick Rodgers, Stanford, is chasing Tiger Woods' individual wins title. He has already declared that he will turn pro after the NCAA championships are over. Lance and Holly wrap up the show talking about the guys who are coming on the PGA Tour now have no fear.
