Key Point: Will sets the tone by emphasizing precision in betting strategies and reflects an optimistic outlook despite prior losses. Analysis: A candid admission of struggles in early predictions, emphasizing accountability and intent to improve through research-backed picks. Highlight on Nick Taylor's Recent Victory: "Nick Taylor was the eventual champion... picking up PGA Tour win number five in a playoff." Significance: Taylor's playoff prowess is underlined, but concerns are raised about his ability to maintain momentum post-victory. Player Statistics and Analysis Nick Dunlop: Defending champion of the American Express at age 21. Two-time PGA Tour winner, aiming to become the second youngest back-to-back titleholder. Strong recent performance at the Sony Open, finishing T-10. Insight: Dunlop is considered a strong pick due to his putting ability and course familiarity. Sam Burns: Displayed stellar putting performance historically at the American Express. Weakness: Recent struggles with iron play. Recommendation: Top-10 finish at +215 odds as a safer bet than outright victory. Justin Thomas and Patrick Cantlay: Both are highlighted for past consistency but criticized for poor putting performances that could hinder contention at the Amex. Sung J.M.: History of strong starts at the American Express, consistently finishing in the top 25. Struggles to maintain momentum across all four rounds, making him a less favorable pick for outright betting. Tom Kim: Recent inconsistency with missed cuts in 2 of 3 appearances at the Amex. Verdict: Avoid betting on Kim this week. Team Statistics and Insights TGL Match 2: Los Angeles Golf Club (Justin Rose, Colin Morikawa, Sahith Theegala) faces Jupiter Links Golf Club (Tiger Woods, Kevin Kisner, Max Homa). Key Betting RecommendationsMatchups: Nick Dunlop over Curt Kittiyama and Nick Taylor. Michael Thor B. Olson over Adam Svensson. Outrights: Nick Dunlop (60:1) and Tom Hoagie (66:1) are recommended outright picks. Special Picks: Sam Burns for a Top-10 finish (+215). Sung J.M. as the First Round Leader (+1100). As the world of finance continuously evolves, investors and enthusiasts alike are often left navigating a labyrinth of strategies, trends, and noteworthy events. This week's episode of the 'Capitalist Investor' podcast, featuring Tony "The Tiger," Cool Hand Luke, and Derek "Diamond Hands D," dissected a combination of meme stock phenomena and the excitement surrounding the PGA Championship. Let's delve into the five hot topics they covered.1. The Resurgence of Meme StocksThe episode kicked off by touching upon the resurgence of meme stocks such as AMC and GameStop. Luke elaborated on how these stocks are experiencing another wave of investor interest, driven by the fear of missing out (FOMO). However, he expressed skepticism about the longevity of this trend, noting the differences in economic conditions compared to the initial surge during the COVID-19 pandemic. The panel agreed that while the excitement is palpable, the sustainability of these astronomical rises is questionable, given current market conditions and the reintegration of job stability for many potential investors.2. Market Sentiments and the Fear of Missing OutTony and Luke discussed the broader psychological impact of these meme stock rallies on the market. The sentiment of FOMO is powerful but also dangerous. Investors, especially retail traders, are driven by the desire to capitalize on seemingly easy profits, even though similar past events have often ended in steep declines. The question remains whether this enthusiasm is a sign of a healthy market or a precursor to potential downturns, as speculative bubbles tend to burst unpredictably.3. Institutional Versus Retail TradersThe conversation segued into the dynamics between institutional investors and retail traders. Luke pointed out that institutional investors generally engage in these stocks on the short side, while retail traders attempt to inflate prices. However, the possibility of institutions partaking in these trades was scrutinized. The hosts highlighted that unless these retail traders start making substantial, profitable operational changes within these companies, it's hard to see institutional investors diving in for long-term gains.4. The Economic Climate and Market BehaviorA significant concern raised was the impact of inflation and the overall economic climate on these trading behaviors. With inflation eroding disposable income, there's a likelihood of reduced participation from retail investors. Also, stimulus checks that fueled earlier trading booms are no longer in play, offering a stark contrast to the earlier scenario that drove meme stock prices sky-high. As Tony pointed out, people might be taking significant risks out of desperation, an indication that broader economic troubles could be brewing.5. PGA Championship and Golf Betting InsightsShifting from Wall Street to the greens, the crew rounded off the episode by discussing their golf picks for the upcoming PGA Championship at Valhalla. They analyzed the competition, going through favorites like Rory McIlroy and John Rahm while also giving a nod to dark horses like Gary Woodland and Patrick Reed. Derek especially had his eyes set on Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka, while Luke was intrigued by Colin Morikawa's potential. This light-hearted segment brought a refreshing contrast to the intense financial discussion, appealing to listeners with a penchant for golf betting. This episode of 'Capitalist Investor' offered a rich tapestry of insights into the volatile nature of meme stocks, the psychology of market behavior, and even some friendly banter on golf. As always, it left listeners with valuable takeaways, reminding them to approach market trends with caution and a critical eye, whether dealing with meme stocks or placing bets on their favorite golfers.Re

As you and I talked last Friday, they were going to the south side of Chicago to face a bad white Sox team, and when I said bad… I didn't think they were this bad! That team is awful. So the Reds did what youre supposed to do against bad teams….swept them! Cincinnati outscored the chicago white sox 27-5 over the weekend…….most people like talking about the 27….on dialed-in, we like talking about the five….five runs allowed. Andrew Abbott went seven on Friday night… Graham Ashcraft nearly six yesterday but THE story was THE RETURN of Nick Lodolo after missing basically a year with a broken leg. He is without question the best Reds pitcher when he's able to take the ball. The TCU alum went 5 ⅔ innings, allowed only one hit, one walk, and strikeout ten batters. With the three-game win streak, the team sits three games over .500 at 9-6. They trail the co-leading brewers and pirates by a game and a half in the NL Central. The competition gets better starting tonight as the Reds open a three-game series in Seattle. A little bit better truth be told. The Mariners are 6-10 and are one of four teams yet to score 50 total runs this season… For comparison, the Reds have scored 90. Frankie Montas starts for the Reds… George Kirby for Seattle. Kirby has allowed 13 runs in his last seven innings. Congrats to the Pirates Andrew McCutcheon… He clubbed his 300th career home run yesterday against Philadelphia. 13th player ever with 2000 hits, 400 doubles, 45 triples, 300 home runs, and 200 stolen bases… that's pretty solid. For the second time in three years, Scottie Scheffler wins the masters. The world's number-one ranked player finished 11 under par to beat Ludvig Oberg by four shots. Tommy Fleetwood, Max Homa, and Colin Morikawa finished four under par. Scheffler joins Tiger Woods and the Goat, Jack Nicklaus as the only three players ever with multi titles at the player's championship and the masters. Scheffler had the best score of any golfer in the final round with a 68. NUT CUTTER The NBA playoffs start tomorrow night….four teams in each conference will start a play-in tournament to decide the eighth seed. In the east, the four teams are the Bulls, the Hawks, the Heat, and the Sixers. Out west, the lakers, pelicans, kings, and warriors. Boston is the top seed in the east, and Cleveland a fourth seed. Oklahoma City is the top seed in the west.
Cincinnati Reds travel up to Seattle to take on the Mariners. After a clean sweep against the White Sox, the Reds need to steal some Victories. For the second time in three years, Scottie Scheffler wins the Masters. The world's number-one ranked player finished 11 under par to beat Ludvig Oberg by four shots. Tommy Fleetwood, Max Homa, and Colin Morikawa finished four under par. Scheffler joins Tiger Woods and the Goat, Jack Nicklson, as the only three players ever with multiple titles at the player's championship and the masters. The NFL draft is approaching fast and we are finally starting to see the board settle. Who should the Bengals draft what should their approach be? Two Defensive Tackles? Early WR? Defense over Offense? More on Off the Bench.
Mark Blackburn was the 2020 PGA of America teacher of the year and was just bestowed the Butch Harmon award by Golf Digest as the best instructor in golf. Mark has worked with Max Homa and Justin Rose for several years and last fall Colin Morikawa became a client. In this wide ranging and in-depth conversation and Masters preview, Mark and Gary Williams discuss the approach, mindset and game plan for each player at Augusta National. The key shots, the team blue print and the belief system each player must have to be successful at the first major of 2024. One of the worlds best golf instructors prepping some of the best golfers in the world, to try to become a Masters champion.
Matt Adams is joined by PGA Tour Legend Loren Roberts as they break down putting like never before. Matt and Loren take a hard look at why Scottie Scheffler, Colin Morikawa and more struggle on the greens and inversely why they are such great ball strikers. Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy comment on the future of golf and what the PGA Tour could look like.
