This week I am joined by 4 of the Top Instructors and Body Movement experts in the game. Keith Jarvis is a Lead Instructor at Golf Channel Academy. He can be found in the New York/New Jersey areas and on the V1 app. Keith breaks down Trackman data and helps us understand what smash factor is, what good spin rate numbers are off the driver, how to take a pivot after we strike the ball, and why you should tee the ball lower than what you've been told. Terry Hashimoto is the Founder of BodiTrak Golf and Golf Rehab.com. Terry explains why all good players have 80+% of their weight on the lead leg by the time they get to the top of their backswing. We also learn why golf is a great rehab game for those suffering from concussions, and which fundamentals are no longer relevant. Katherine Roberts is the Top Movement Skills person and Yoga Instructor in the world in my opinion. She's about to begin her 10th season working with the Chicago Cubs. She takes us through how she can help those of us suffering from some sort of injury get back in the game. We hear how ground reaction forces can help us generate more distance, and some stretches we can do to warm up before we go play. TP joins me and shares his thoughts on last week's PGA Merchandise Show, the time he spent working with Jackie Burke Jr., Rory's about-face on yet another LIV issue, and who he's picking to win the Super Bowl.
The long whispered rumors are in fact true, Nick DID venture to Orlando for the PGA Merchandise Show and dishes on the latest in speed gains, training aids and putter preferences. The boys also mediate on Anthony Kim's likely return to pro golf and if that moves the all important needle.
Gary D'Amato and Rob Hernandez discuss Steve Stricker's dad, Bob Stricker, who died last week after an extended illness; the best of what Gary saw at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando last week, and what's ahead on the golf calendar in February.
This could be the best conference in our industry. It may be the biggest. It was the largest, according to the organizers, in over twenty years. The PGA Merchandise Show reached new heights this last week of January, 2024 with more vendors, more club managers and more industry leaders. And, we at BeyondTheBaselines.com were there to cover it all: the conference, the speakers, and the vendors. From new releases on the golf, tennis, pickleball, and the retail fashion side, the conference offers those in the club management and private members club industry a chance to meet, greet and learn from each other in ways that were probably unimaginable twenty years ago. With educational seminars, social gatherings both inside and outside Orlando's Orange County Convention Center, and vendors lining up to sell to the industry's buyers, the PGA Show is second to none in the industry. We sat down with Jennifer Gelhaus, the newly appointed Director of Racquets at the famed Oyster Harbors Club in Osterville, MA and discussed just how the golf and tennis industries are similar but, also, quite different in respect to marketing, communication and retail. Join us as we have a coffee in the lounge just outside the enormous exhibition halls which had hundreds of rows and thousands of vendors. Where will this growth in fashion and retail, pushing the booths of the tools of golf and the nine irons to the side, leave the industry? Live at The PGA Merchandise Show - we have it, and you, covered.
Every year Jeff Smith attends the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando. When there Jeff and most of his Top 100 Teacher bretheren visit the booths manyfacturers of the tools they use for better teaching. They also participate in discussions and official learning events during the show. But when the display areas close down for the day, they all retire to Jeff;s Irlando Condo and drink a bit and talk gold some ore. This is a conversation between Jeff and his buddy, Tony Roggerie from the Dew Sweepes Podcast... Enjoy

An amateur winner on the PGA TOUR and a rising LPGA star as this week's guest as hosts Alex Lauzon and Michael Russell head to the PGA Show in Orlando. The American Express has a loaded field of Tour veterans, but it was 20 year old Alabama sophomore and amateur Nick Dunlap who reigned supreme, just the fifth amateur to win on TOUR since 1940 (2:06). The LPGA season kicked off in Orlando and Lydia Ko got back into the winner's circle for the 20th time and is on the precipice of the LPGA Hall of Fame before turning 27 (7:27). Rory McIlroy was disappointed last week in Dubai, but avenged the loss with a win as the DP World Tour stayed in Dubai (9:07). A return to form in Hawaii, buying your way in in Dubai, the end of an era, and Country Club Adjacent's Griff Pippin on this week's podcast, hosted by Alex Lauzon and Michael Russell. The Sony Open wrapped up the Hawaii swing with a 3-man playoff and a return to the winner's circle for Grayson Murray (1:59). The DP World Tour was in Dubai, were Rory lost, but a certain connected rich guy bought his way into the field (5:28). The LPGA kicks off their season in Orlando this weekend, and the pro-am includes many, many, many past guests (9:05). Following the LPGA's kickoff is the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, where Alex and Michael will be rubbing elbows and "kissing babies" at golf's biggest business meeting (11:05). Alex announced his grand backyard plans last week, but the Texas weather has something to say first (12:29). The PGA TOUR comes stateside for The American Express, which will included a loaded field at the golf season begins to heat up (16:01). This week's guest is Griff Pippin, one part of the Country Club Adjacent podcast, and a stand-up comedian. Griff shares what it was like to roast Donald Trump on the golf course, why we all need to relax sometimes, and does a little "this or that" on what's best (19:21). The college football season is over, and Jim Harbaugh is already looking for an NFL team. But the football landscape is different now, as some of the coaching greats have left their posts (56:15). It's the playoffs in the NFL, and once again, the Cowboys are OUT after just one game (58:57). As the guys #AlwaysEndWithFood, Alex figures out how to have his favorite tacos on a diet, and Michael is reveling in the virality of his latest IG reel from the bakery (1:01:21). Later, Adam offers his thoughts on what's next for golf equipment marketing as we near the 2024 PGA Merchandise Show. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/golf-unfiltered/message

Recorded several days early, hosts Alex Lauzon and Michael Russell give their early thoughts on the Open Championship, plus share their exciting itinerary they are currently experiencing this week in Ireland. Just because we recorded this early doesn't mean Alex doesn't crown a champion for the Open. Hint: it's not a player (1:46). The guys break down the exciting week they're in the middle of, thanks to Tourism Ireland, including a round at the 2006 Ryder Cup course, The K Club (5:22). The TOUR heads to the 3M Open next, where it's a sleepy field but the real estate next to the course is fire (11:16). In Tuned In, Michael is watching the original Justified with Timothy Olyphant, while Alex is choosing his early favorites for the Emmys (12:58). This week's conversation is the one that started it all. David Connellan of Golf Ireland and Tourism Ireland chatted with Alex back in January at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, and it's only fitting to be reminded of what we dreamed about experiencing back than that we're getting in droves now (15:05). Alex is ready for the start of the NFL Preseason, while Michael wonders if his Giants or Alex's Patriots have a better chance of making the playoffs (39:25). As the guys #AlwaysEndWithFood, it's all about what's going in our mouths in Ireland (41:22). Support our friends! It has been a pleasure to do this show for 100 episodes and we can't thank all of our listeners and supporters enough. We look forward to another 100 episodes!
