On today's episode of Cashing Out, we speak to the founder and CEO of Bray & Co - Peter Bray.  Peter has held executive roles with some of the largest ad agencies in the world, including Saatchi and Saatchi, where he was CEO of The Brand Shop and WPP, where he was the firm's global head of digital. But early in his career, Peter was a highly successful agency entrepreneur who sold his first ad agency to a public holding company in Australia in 2010. Now, Peter bet the farm on this exit and tied 100% of his financial outcome to his buyers public stock, which dropped 97% in the first six months because of fraud at the board level.Although Peter's dream of a life changing financial windfall disappeared seemingly overnight, he was able to leverage his experience and reputation into enormous professional wins. In our conversation, we talk about doing due diligence on your buyer, taking chips off the table when you have a chance, and how putting a win on the board by selling your company can elevate your professional career to new heights.Episode Sponsor:Thanks to DoerenMayhew for sponsoring this episode of the Cashing Out podcast!  DoerenMayhew is one of Forbes best tax and accounting firms in the United States. Join us in the Krueger Marketing podcast studio this week for another episode of The State of Sales Enablement. Our guest in today's episode is a sales leader who has successfully tackled a monumental task: Establishing a new product category in the APAC region for a US tech company that has turned unicorn in 2021. In our conversation, he reveals how he went about it and how he has leveraged sales enablement along the way. Please welcome https://Impact.com (Impact.com)'s APAC Sales Director https://Peter Bray (Peter Bray). These are some of the questions we're discussing: What is partner management and how did you go about creating this new category in the minds of your target market? Is the skillset required for a team to be successful different in the context of the consultative approach where you are having to understand and analyse where the client's at in order to make sense of the category that you're trying to establish? How is the culture piece critical in making fast growth work? How do you make sure that you leverage resources that you have available overseas for the local market? How do you make sure that the translation is adding value to your activity locally? How does your local team benefit in terms of the tech infrastructure from head office and all the systems that are put in place? Talk about the success factors of challenger brands out there eating the breakfast of big brands. What advice would you give companies based overseas wanting to enter the Australian market? What are the characteristics of the Australian market? What should these companies consider and what are mistakes to avoid? What are some tips to more effectively enable their sales team with, when one has little resources and little time on their hands? Here are some of the resources referenced in this episode. Everyone thinks the easiest way to grow a company is advertising or marketing campaigns. But, forging partnerships and creating distribution networks can be an exponentially more powerful revenue-driver. Why pay to temporarily leverage another entity's audience when you can do it permanently and share both the risk and the upside? Partnerships are the less-talked-about growth driver that every business, small and large can do better. Find out why companies like Nike, Canva, Disney, Pizza Hut, Booktopia and more...use partnership technology stacks to create a customer acquisition machine that provides win-win outcomes for everyone involved. At it's core - business is about the exchange of value between parties - It's about the movement of money from one entity to another in return for perceptions of goods and services. But, in the modern era of shiny digital toys, obsessions with content and posting on social media, this fundamental growth driver can easily be overlooked. Running partnership programs used to be a messy, complex process. Not anymore. Today, we're talking to Peter Bray and Ayaan Mohumad from unicorn tech company, Impact. They specialize in scalable partnership technology. Their stories about how Canva, Nike, Disney and other major brands have been using their tech strategically as a marketing channel are fascinating. How do you go about forging these relationships effectively? How do you sell the business case of partnerships up the chain? How can you turn a bad partnership program into a growth machines? All of these questions and more answered in this episode.

The first story this podcast covered was the city Department of Transportation’s proposal to replace the Brooklyn Heights Promenade with a six-lane highway to fix the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, or BQE. It’s been four months since the announcement. Community activists have continued to push on the city and local representatives to save the promenade, the mayor backed the DOT’s proposal, hundreds of people took to the promenade in protest, an environmental study could reveal toxic air pollutants headed to the Heights, and new renderings show the highway would likely soar over part of the Brooklyn Bridge walkway for years. The plan is still on the table, despite heavy opposition, so this week we’ll be devoting our entire episode to bringing you up to speed with the issue.

As a former soldier in the British Special Forces, a military diver and lifelong adventurer, Peter Bray has led a very full life doing what he loves. He now works as a security consultant and outdoor pursuits instructor. In his 56 years, there are few extreme challenges that he has not attempted. Pete’s exploits have taken him from the frozen wastes of Norway to the searing heat of the African bush. Listen in as Pete tells some of the best stories of harrowing ocean crossings and even about his trouble with the British police at age 11. www.kernowcoaching.com www.peterbrayadventurer.com Facebook: www.facebook.com/peterbrayadventurer Twitter: twitter.com/KernowCoach
