This live video was done Thursday 19 March 2020 at 3:16 pm, the week the government locked down our church in California. We did not reopen for over a year, skipping two Easters out of fear of death (ironically). I do a lecture on how the first Christians dealt with sickness and death compared to 2020, and I do a prayer walk through the premises. These were my thoughts that first week. Part 4 of 4 in this series from the first week of the government imposed lockdowns of "inessential " businesses and churches in 2020.
Stephen Thompson, Jr. is a proud Morgan graduate and a walking business, but he's also a proud man of God. In addition to coining the phrase "Stephen SZN" and ultimately turning it into his own business, Stephen's faith has always been at the center of everything he does. It's why he felt inspired to start the Prayer Walk, a tradition at Morgan State that still gets done to this day before each fall semester, when students and organizations all across campus come together and walk to the center of campus to pray over the university. Stephen talks about how the idea came to be, and what makes being an alumni of Morgan State so special to him and to so many others. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Hadassah GreenSky is an artist, activist, and musician. She is also the organizer of the Vibes with the Tribes, an annual Native American and cultural festival held in Detroit since 2020. You may know her from a viral photo of her and a few fellow dancers in front of the former Christopher Columbus statue in Detroit. Another one of her projects is a documentary, referred to as The Red Ghetto, which documents the lives of Native American families living in the Cass Corridor. According to GreenSky, those who lived in Detroit all had stories of relatives living in the Cass Corridor. "I think I heard an auntie once say there was over 120 different nations once represented in the city of Detroit, and there's still remnants of that," said GreenSky. "But, there's no, like, historical documents that talk about this. It's all just stories that all of us have." GreenSky has also been vocal about water rights. This year, they are organizing a Prayer Walk for the Water on Indigenous Peoples Day, Oct. 14 from 1-5 pm on Belle Isle in Detroit. The event is in commemoration of Grandma Josephine Mandamin, who, as an elder, walked around all of the Great Lakes, several times. In what area do you need to trust that God has good and delightful surprises in store for you? Some of the best discussions I have with God are when I'm taking a walk. The fresh air clears the fog from my brain, the sounds of nature drown out the perpetual to-do list in my head, and I can appreciate the beauty that God provides all around me.It is as though He shows me something new every day and every season to remind me of His presence. It is easy for me to lose sight of how God has provided in the past and forget that His plans are far better than my own.I often find myself praying for God to bless my will and forget to stop and listen for His.Today I will be talking with Sarah Geringer about her latest book. - Hidden Manna on a Country Road: Seeing God's Daily Provision All Around Us.In 2020, she discovered many prayer prompts on her property while walking her dogs.Everywhere she looked, she saw reasons to pray, much like the manna God provided Israel in the wilderness. The metaphors she saw in the seasons are so inspiring and helped add to my own prayer life. Even if we have practiced our faith for years, prayer can be a mystery to us. But God has hidden prayer prompts right outside our doors in nature. As you uncover their spiritual truths, these treasures can inspire deeper connections with God.

Hey! I'm Kaela. I help busy Christian women find the time and discipline to consistently grow their relationship with God. You might know me as the former Personal Trainer and fitness girl turned Christian Lifestyle Mentor - and Best Auntie Ever! But like so many other Believers, God's journey to get me here has been… a journey.I am proud to come from an athletic family and background, playing basketball on a National Championship college team and newly Class of 2021 Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame inductees. It was my life as an athlete, then business woman working in the National Basketball Association that fostered the drive and discipline in me to push, to work hard, and to create consistency toward growth in every area of my life. And even though I loved the fast-paced professional sports world, I found myself living in Texas, getting involved in a church, traveling to Africa, and eventually earning a second degree from Arizona Christian University in all things Bible. I became known as the ‘health girl'. I spent years speaking at conferences, creating plans, and helping others achieve their health and fitness goals with a foundation of a relationship with Christ. But eventually even THAT wasn't filling me up!I was able to use all the skills, education, experiences, and expertise as an athlete and trainer, and use those same determination factors to build up and create consistency in my own relationship with God. And my life has changed! So, here you have it, Kaela Prays - Christian Lifestyle Mentor.I am the host of the His Word My Walk podcast where I weekly share insight from my own life about how God's Word and my daily walk go together.I also host a weekly Christian Women's book club online. My How to Consistently Build Your Bible Time online course has taken Believers from questions and insecurity to confidently spending consistent and intentional time with God, in His Word, every day.And I am honored to also mentor women one-on-one.My deep desire is to help others in their own relationship with God.
