In this powerful episode, I'm joined by author Julie Sunne, who reminds us what it looks like to hold on to hope when life doesn't look like we imagined. Julie opens up about her journey through five miscarriages, the deep grief that followed, and the unexpected path of parenting a child with disabilities. She shares how her faith, which once felt more like a Sunday habit, was transformed into an anchored trust in the character of God.Julie's book, Sometimes I Forget: Reminders of Hope for Your Hard Days, isn't just words on a page—it's a reflection of the battles she's walked through and the unchanging God who walked with her.
ALL THE LINKS: LINKTR.EE/BARBARAFAISONThis is a podcast about celebrating life's milestones and moments. If you are new to the podcast, welcome and if you listen regularly, thank you!How are you feeling about things these days? The world is experiencing a lot of turmoil including the weather, political changes, and even in our personal lives, it can be a lot to process. When things are not going the way I like them to go, it may be easy to question what's happening in and to the world. It can be easy to write off the world as this horrible place and feel like, why bother, nothing good is happening anyway. And then I have those times of remembering to stay in the moment and enjoy what is happening… I am reminded that you, I, and the world are, and will be just right. I remember that life is about moments and milestones. And in each moment, we can take it in. Feel it in our bodies. Notice how we feel. And be with those feelings. And yes, those feelings may range from deep despair to extreme happiness.Life is filled with moments, including births, graduations, marriages, divorces, anniversaries, celebrations, and death. The milestones in life can be our pathway to happiness and joy.I had not seen Ryan Delaine for several years in person, he was in college. During the pandemic, he and his family; parents, Chris and Susan, and brother Justin, meditated with me regularly on the weekends. At that time, I hosted a daily meditation practice live on Facebook. Most weekends for about three years, the Delaine family would meditate with me. And sometimes they were the only people to meditate live with me. I have such fond memories of those times. When my husband TD and I arrived at the Delaine family home to celebrate Ryan's college graduation, I felt so proud and excited for this milestone for him and his family. What a lovely reminder that even when the world feels chaotic, we must continue to enjoy, celebrate, and embrace all of life‘s uncertainties. As Ryan and his friends left to continue the celebration elsewhere, they all said goodbye to every person that was there. In my day, we called that good home training. Lol.This weekend celebration reminded me of my book excerpt, Celebrate Everything! I hope it serves as a reminder to take all of life in.

"Manifest" is The Cambridge Dictionary's Word of the Year for 2024, thanks to celebrities such as Ariana Grande, Dua Lipa, and Simone Biles attributing their success to manifesting. Are you feeling unprepared for the intense emotions and challenges of raising teens? Do you wonder if other moms are going through the same struggles with friendships, independence, and emerging adulthood? In this special 300th episode of Power Your Parenting: Moms with Teens, Colleen O'Grady invites four close friends—moms who've been through it all—for an honest and heartfelt conversation. Together, they reflect on the middle school and high school years, navigating everything from shifting friendships and social media pressures to the bittersweet milestones of teenage independence. They share raw and relatable stories about the struggles, like dealing with broken hearts, driving privileges, and different parenting values. Beyond the challenges, they celebrate the moments of joy, laughter, and growth that come with watching their teens mature into young adults. Sue Ludwig is a mom of two grown kids, ages 27 and 25. She is the president and founder of the national association of neonatal therapists, an occupational therapist by background, and author of the book, Tiny Humans, Big Lessons. Dr. Shannon D. South, aka the “Joy Doctor”, is an award winning therapist, an amazon best-selling author, and an inspirational speaker. She is an expert in the field of spirituality and healing trauma for over 25 years and the Founder of the Inner Counselor Certification Program. Sara Dickison Taylor is President and Founder of Celebrate Life by Design, LLC. As a certified Executive Leadership Coach, she has helped countless individuals maximize their life potential and turn their wildest dreams into reality. Sherry Duson is a family therapist who has been in practice since 1999. She has specialized in the needs of new mothers, focusing on perinatal mental health, both as a practitioner and the founder of The Center for Postpartum Family Health in Houston, Texas. Here are three powerful takeaways from the episode: First, let go of perfection and trust the process—it's okay if the journey isn't linear; your kids will find their way in their own time. Second, focus on building connection over control—your relationship will matter far more than the pressures of grades, college, or success. Finally, prioritize yourself as a mom—taking care of your emotional well-being models resilience and self-love for your teens. Whether you're in the trenches of middle school drama or navigating the complexities of launching young adults, this episode is a reminder that you're not alone, and there's joy in the journey. https://sueludwig.com/ https://www.instagram.com/sue.ludwig/ https://drshannonsouth.com/ https://www.instagram.com/drshannonsouth/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/sara-dickison-taylor-21681010/ https://www.instagram.com/celebratethebestu/ https://www.sherryduson.com/ https://www.instagram.com/sherryduson/ Learn more about your ad choices. Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #595 is an hour of visionary acoustic improvised music played by The Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, Native flute, acoustic guitar, mandolin, ukulele and Celtic harp, Bob Sherwood on piano and vocals and Craig Harris on Native drum and congas. Recorded live at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts in October 2024, today's show begins with the beautiful, meditative “Continue On”, a raga-like piece with delicate congas from Craig and gossamer, sweeping piano from Bob framing Mariam's powerful, soaring vocal. Reaching a tempestuous crescendo, the song is followed by Mariam's ocean prayer “Yemanja”, written for the “Gaea Star Goddesses” LP. Growing like an incoming tide, “Yemanja” features a show, powerful build, inspired, interweaving vocals from Mariam and Bob and a powerful, fundamental groove. “Celebrate Life” is a beautiful, spacious folk song led by Mariam's steady, chiming mandolin and revealing a powerful, universal message and “Let's Slip Away” is a kinetic, sunny piece of modern gospel/classical music with a stately, shifting piano theme supporting an inspired vocal from Mariam. “Bless Our Lives” is a lovely, deeply affecting minimalist groove with shifting meters from congas and piano and a lush, sweeping melody that mutates and evolves through jazz and Afro Cuban grooves and “Mighty Is The Force Of Nature” is a powerful slow anthem led by a powerful duet between Mariam's prayerful vocals and widescreen Native flute passages. We complete today's hour with the powerful, shifting journey of “Let's Dream A New Story”, an imaginative trip through styles bound together by Mariam's powerful lyric. Graveyards, cemeteries, ossuaries, and crypts — all places of reverence where the living can pay their respects to those who've crossed over before us. But that wasn't always the case. In the Middle Ages, graveyards were far more raucous, home to fairs, markets, and even grazing cattle. In the 19th century, some cemeteries were the place to see and be seen, possibly with a well-stocked picnic basket in tow. In 1860, The Green-Wood Cemetery in New York rivaled Niagara Falls (!) as the most popular tourist attraction in the US. In this episode, we take leisurely strolls through Pére Lachaise and Greyfriars Kirkyard, learn about the one-way train for the dearly departed, and visit a cheery Romanian cemetery. Then we share five books we love that explore these often peaceful, sometimes eerie ‘museums of people,' including a 19th-century classic mystery tale, a how-to for death, two beloved fantasy novels, and a Gothic thriller set in 1980s Barcelona. The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins Advice for Future Corpses (and Those Who Love Them) by Sallie Tisdale A Fine and Private Place by Peter S. In this episode, host Rebecca George and Julie Sunne chat about recognizing God's presence (and remembering his character) during life's toughest seasons. They discuss Julie's new book Sometimes I Forget: 60 Reminders of Hope for Your Hard Days. Rebecca and Julie chat about: How anchoring your heart on God's character gives hope during challenging seasons. Maintaining a prayer life during times of grief is an act of surrender that God honors, even in the midst of profound pain. Feelings can be fickle, and the importance of acknowledging God's presence, even in stillness. Encouragement for when you don't know what to pray. Surrendering personal anxieties and the desire to know all things to God, trusting in His divine plan and the promise of eternity. God's immutable character during hard times. Julie Sunne writes about finding real hope amid life's real struggles. Her own struggles include enduring multiple miscarriages and caregiving for her adult daughter who has significant intellectual disabilities. Julie's writing has been featured in print devotionals by Proverbs 31 Ministries, Guideposts, Celebrate Life magazine, Encouragement for Today (the Proverbs 31 Ministries' email devotional), several online sites, and on her blog at juliesunne.com. Julie and her husband, David, are parents to three grown sons and a daughter and reside with their daughter in rural northeast Iowa.
