What do you get when you combine a tied state house, court challenges, political walkouts, and a looming budget crisis? A real-life political soap opera—and it's all happening in Minnesota. In this episode, host David From sits down with RaeAnna Lee, Legislative and Coalitions Director at Americans for Prosperity-Minnesota, to break down the chaos that's been unfolding at the Minnesota State Capitol. From a tied House and disputed elections to lawmakers refusing to show up—while still collecting their full salaries—this episode unpacks how political brinksmanship has cost taxpayers time, money, and trust. RaeAnna gives a behind-the-scenes look at how AFP is holding legislators accountable, what Minnesotans are saying about the dysfunction, and how a $6 billion deficit looms just months after a record $18 billion surplus was spent. If you care about transparency, responsible spending, and elected officials actually doing their jobs—this is a must-listen.
Mastering recipe development in a competitive market and adapting to AI as a food creator with Raeanne Sarazen, author of The Complete Recipe Writing Guide: Mastering Recipe Development, Writing, Testing, Nutrition Analysis, and Food Styling. ----- Welcome to episode 491 of The Food Blogger Pro Podcast! This week on the podcast, Bjork interviews Raeanne Sarazen. Writing Standout Recipes and Navigating AI as a Food Creator Raeanne Sarzen wrote the book on recipes… literally. In 2023, Raeanne published The Complete Recipe Writing Guide: Mastering Recipe Development, Writing, Testing, Nutrition Analysis, and Food Styling. How did she get to be the expert in recipe writing? Raeanne is a Registered Dietitian and a classically trained chef who has worked in hospitals as a clinical dietitian, restaurant kitchens, in food publishing as a writer, editor, and test kitchen professional), and as a culinary nutrition consultant. So yes, she knows a thing or two about developing, writing, testing, and perfecting recipes! In this interview, Bjork and Raeanna discuss the recipe development process, how food publishing has changed over the years, what it takes to write a great recipe, and how food creators can stand out online, especially in a world with AI. Three episode takeaways: What makes a really good recipe?: Raeanne argues that the quality of the recipe differentiates really successful food creators from the rest of the pack. In this interview, she walks listeners through the recipe development process, shares her tips for writing a user-friendly recipe, and discusses the importance of recipe testing. How to adapt to AI as a food creator: Raeanne shares her thoughts on artificially generated recipes – in short, they're not tested, devoid of personality, and written without personality or critical thinking. Bjork and Raeanne also discuss how you can use AI when developing recipes and writing content. How to differentiate yourself as a recipe developer: Let's face it — food blogging is a competitive space. But Raeanne believes that if you create accurate, concise, easy-to-follow recipes that solve the problems of your readers and infuse your content with your distinct voice, you can still build a successful career as a food creator. In this episode of American Potential, host Jeff Crank is joined by Jake Coleman, Minnesota State Director for Americans for Prosperity (AFP), and RaeAnna Lee, the state's Legislation Director, to discuss the tumultuous end to the Minnesota state senate session. The conversation highlights how a last-minute delay by a Democratic Socialist senator led to the rushed passage of a controversial Omnibus Bill, bypassing transparency and public debate. Coleman and Lee critique the Democratic-controlled legislature's focus on consolidating power rather than engaging in bipartisan negotiations, which culminated in a chaotic legislative session marked by poor leadership and a lack of accountability. They also delve into the bizarre and disruptive events surrounding the session, including the absence of a senator involved in a cat burglar incident, and the legislature's failure to pass essential bonding bills. Join us as Coleman and Lee share their perspectives on the critical need for transparency, accountability, and active citizen engagement in holding legislators responsible for their actions. I am a girl mom of 2, ages 2 years old and 3 months. I fell in love with birth and motherhood after becoming a mom. Prior to that, I really had no interest in anything related to birth. Now I see the beauty and privilege in embracing motherhood and how blessed I am to have the ability to have babies. My prayer is that all future mothers can experience birth and motherhood the way it's intended to be and are supported by other mothers the way I've been. IG: @heyy_raee We are called as women and mothers to boldly proclaim the truth. I believe that it is my ministry to speak up and fight for the ways in which God has called us to be a mother. I pray you will open your heart and minds when listening in today! Blessings, Marisa! Are you currently a birth worker or being led into the ministry of birth work? Our son enjoys re-reading the short chapter books of George's Marvelous Medicine and Fantastic Mr. Fox! Our daughter loved reading Esio Trot and figuring out the little hidden riddle! No spoilers! If you're new to Dahl, starting with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a great introduction to the imagination and fantastical ideas in Dahl's writings! A book that we feel is overlooked is Danny The Champion of the World. This book sits on my shelf as a Father's Day gift from RaeAnna and the kids. It is a touching and humorous look at the relationship between Danny and his eccentric father. Dahl was a great writer and like many British authors of his time, included poetry within the novels. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has some great poems for recitation. RaeAnna loves reciting “Mike Teavee” to our kids! This week James steps in front of the camera, er, microphone. A different one. One specifically for being interviewed. Why is he being interviewed? Careful listeners of episodes this week have picked up on the subtle clues that James is participating in NaNoWriMo this year! Raeanna makes her debut as the question asker and the pair have a charming good time. Thank you to our producers Mason Amadeus and Daniel Spencer. Rae Lewarne started Health Freelance after working in healthcare earlier in her career. The idea came as she watched other companies like Uber enable people to turn their side hustle into a full time job and wanted to do the same for healthcare consultants. Plus, Rae is in the midst of a real-time pivot so Health Freelance can help support the community during the COVID-19 global pandemic. Recorded March 27, 2020
Happy Scramble Week 2020! This week Max and Beth get to take the day off and let Erin King and Raeanna Larson from Wet Hot American Moon Juice drive. They’re talking about Homestar Runner, that bizarre-yet-loveable early-2000s (and beyond!) Flash animation website that spawned such beloved pop culture references as TROGDOR THE BURNINATOR and COME ON FHQWHGADS.Follow the show on TwitterWet Hot American Moon Juice: TwitterErin: Twitter, InstagramRaeanna: Twitter, InstagramEmail us at fanonballpod@gmail.comWe are a member of the Scavengers Network. We all knew this day would come and it’s finally here. I have the great honor and privilege to present to you the final episode of Wet Hot American Moon Juice for 2019. Raeanna and Wham James leave us with some uniquely wonderful words and we look forward to what shenanigans are in store next year. Thank you to our producers Mason Amadeus and Daniel Spencer. I scream, you scream, we all scream, eternally. Kyle and Raeanna are here for all your commiserating needs. NaNo is hard, y’all! We’re here to remind you that whatever you did, you birthed something new into existence and that’s awesome. Even though we can’t fathom what it feels like to be on the other side of NaNoWriMo, we’re fairly certain that side does exist and that’s reassuring. We love you. Thanks for donating your wonderful and kind words to our voicemail, Amity! Please tweet at us with an update!! Thank you to our producers Mason Amadeus and Daniel Spencer. NaNo got you down? Big same. Or mood. Big same mood. Moon? Yes, Juice. Anyway, today our authors question how they even got here, what is even the point, what curse hath they wrought, and why why why. But within the fog of an existential crisis is a lot of good stuff*. Colin Parker, our Podboss and BFF, calls in with a question about finding time to write while traveling. Raeanna describes NaNo so poignantly that your grandma will have it embroidered on a throw pillow by morning. Tracy exists and you have to give her credit for that. *I know I said “stuff” and that’s lazy. All my other words are in NaNo. Let me have this. In this episode, Erin and Raeanna discuss how the first day of NaNoWriMo has gone for both of them. They talk past projects, current happenings, and future hopes. Erin introduces a new word to the English lexicon and Raeanna talks about a few of her favorite things. There’s hijinxs, but mostly, there’s love. In this episode, Wham James interviews Raeanna Larson about preparing for NaNoWriMo and plotting her fantasy novel. Names, world-building, and the pressure to be original can be a lot for a writer to handle and Raeanna discusses how that influences her work. No spoilers, but she’s going to be using Raeanna brand character arcs and interesting verbs to smash her NaNo goals. Bonus! We get our first experience with an almost segment titled, “Why James Isn’t Doing NaNoWriMo” even though he’ll definitely get an honorary NaNo completion award for his participation and support here. RaeAnna Goss is here to share with us about how we can make classical music and composers relevant to students, why it’s important for students to study about this area of music, and share with us about her new resource called the Composer Study Companion. RaeAnna Goss is a second generation homeschooler and has been involved in music education since an early teenager. She began as a piano teacher to neighborhood children and then served as assistant director in the homeschool band which developed a passion for sharing music with others. Taking that passion further, she studied music education at Lee University and after graduating college, spent 10 years in the public schools, led workshops for music teachers, and also served as president for her local Orff-Schulwerk association. Since having children, she has been teaching early childhood music classes, mother and baby music classes, homeschool music classes, and piano lessons. She loves sharing with fellow moms and teachers! Find us at: iTunes Spotify Google Play On today's very special Track Meet, we're joined by the amazingly awesome Raeanna Larson of Mount Olympus University. And why is this episode of Track Meet out on a Wednesday? Well it's because today is Raeanna's birthday! [Fireworks! Confetti Cannons! Noisemakers!] Raeanna's birthday gives us a bit of a challenge this week, though, as we dig through the very murky musical year of 1992. It's a bit of a gap year for popular music, but the really great songs always find their way to the surface, and this week is no different. Enjoy this little tour through 1992 on this extra awesome Raeanna-centered #SongFight! Songs featured in this episode include: "Happy Birthday" originally written by Altered Images, performed by The Beatles. ℗ 1989, 2007 BBC Worldwide under license to Sanctuary Records Group Ltd.. "Hey Jealousy" written byDoug Hopkins, performed by Gin Blossoms. ℗ 1989, 1992 A&M Records, Inc. "Friday on My Mind" written by Harry Vanda and George Young, performed by The Easybeats. ℗ 1966 Parlophone, United Artists Records. This week on the Heads 'N Tales podcast I interview Raeanna Gutkowski, who was a division-one athlete on the Marist College women's volleyball team until she was diagnosed with osteosarcoma after her freshman season. Raeanna and I both grew up in the town of Long Valley, NJ and attended West Morris Central High School at the same time. Osteosarcoma is a pediatric bone cancer that is often found in teenagers. Raeanna first knew something was wrong when she developed a nagging pain in her knee, especially when it was in full flexion (heel to butt). After trying to play through the pain, as most competitive athletes do, Raeanna finally went to the Marist Team doctor where they performed an MRI on her knee. What was initially thought to be a torn meniscus turned out to be a bone tumor that would change Raeanna's life forever. Raeanna was forced to undergo intense chemotherapy treatments and eventually had to have a portion of her femur removed (as seen in the Xray below). Unfortunately, Raeanna had to overcome what seemed to be endless complications that were a result of her treatment. After her first dose of chemotherapy she came down with an often fatal disease called typhlitis and had to have part of her intestine removed. Throughout the entire interview, I kept waiting for the turning point in her story for when her condition began to improve, but it just never seemed to come (truly jaw-dropping). I also had a few complications from my head surgery, but mine paled in comparison to Rae's. Download this episode to hear all the details, it is truly amazing to see how healthy and happy Rae is today after what she has gone through. Xray of Raeanna's Prosthetic Knee In addition to Raeanna's story of overcoming cancer, we also talk about her transition to life after sports and how she has found a new passion as a spin instructor. I took one of her classes after part-one of our interview at the New York Sports Club in Hoboken, NJ. It quickly became obvious why Rae was such a successful athlete and was successful in beating cancer. Her drive, passion and determination are contagious and I hope this podcast episode is another way to spread her mindset. We also discussed some of the great opportunities she has received because of cancer and some of the amazing people she has met and been able to help along the way. Specifically Raeanna talks about her friend Clayton who is currently fighting the same cancer she beat.

Lastly, Raeanna talks about an organization called "Teen Cancer America" who aim to help hospitals and healthcare professionals bridge the gap between pediatric and adult oncology care. Teen Cancer America aims to educate and support hospitals and outpatient facilities in the development of specialized units for this age group. The units are a place just for teens and young adults where the cancer experience is understood and the importance of living life through the cancer journey is nourished.
