In 2005, Les Claypool spawned an idea that would form Electric Apricot, a fictitious jam band of goofballs and misfits chasing their dream gig at Festeroo. The "band" formed and recorded some tracks at Rancho Relaxo in early 2005 before hitting the road that spring for some gigs that allowed them to gather live footage in between principle shooting slots. The film had a limited theatrical release, but gathered enough steam for physical releases of the film (2007) and soundtrack (2008). We chart this curiousity and dig into the hidden jokes and references throughout the film, and its significance to the jam scene for people in the know - thank you to our Primatrons! India v England, Ranchi Day 0: The Rancho Relaxo! To one of Adam's favourite grounds for the Fourth Test with England in a must-win position after their hiding over the weekend. As for the hosts, Bumrah is resting - time for their spinners to come into their own on a surface that looks like it might turn from the get-go. But those assumptions have been mistaken at this ground in the past. Cam Ponsonby is in place, ready to roll. In this episode, we begin our track-by-track discussions of the 1996 release Les Claypool & The Holy Mackerel Presents Highball With The Devil - Les's first solo record. Running The Gauntlet is the opening track, and Tim Soya was there for most of the recording process! He sheds light on the atmosphere at Rancho Relaxo as Les put this record together and a revolving cast of guests turned up to contribute instrumentation; from there, we unpack the album opener.Get involved:InstagramTwitterEmailBurn your money

Les Claypool is a musical mad scientist and one of the weirdest musicians to have commercial success in rock and roll. He's best known for his amazing bass playing and quirky sense of humor in leading the band Primus (and for doing the theme for South Park), but he's also put together a handful of other really cool projects that made other types of music. Including Oysterhead, the funk jazz supergroup with Trey Anastasio from Phish and Stewart Copeland from The Police. The Duo de Twang country music project. And, most recently, the awesome partnership with Sean Lennon called The Claypool Lennon Delirium with Sean Lennon. He produces most of his music from his home studio Rancho Relaxo and is also an author and film director. Oh, and he once auditioned for Metallica. Is there anything he can't do? Let's find out. Stella grew up in Ohio and studied Economics and Japanese at Princeton University. Stella made a career change at 30 from investment banking to fashion. She moved from San Francisco to New York where she worked her way up at iconic American brands Liz Claiborne, Limited Brands, Henri Bendel and Ralph Lauren.Stella always fantasized about moving to California. She vividly remembers the debut of Beverly Hills 90210 and wanting to have a life of pool parties. After 7 years in both San Francisco and New York, she felt she won the career lottery by getting a job as the Director of Retail at a private equity company that invests in the leisure space in the Palm Springs area. Stella spent 8 years as the Director of Retail at KSL Resorts, buying for 5 Star, 5 Diamond and resorts on the National Historical registry including The Hotel Del, La Quinta Resort, Arizona Biltmore, The Homestead, Grand Wailea, Miraval, The Grove Park Inn, La Costa, and Monarch Beach Resort.Catering to a guest on vacation is a passion for Stella. Her mission is to give that guest a physical manifestation of their time of leisure so they can keep that memory alive. Life presented a crossroads to Stella when her company relocated to Irvine. Stella had found her home in Rancho Mirage and needed to create her own way. Bryan "Brain" Mantia joined Primus during a period of uncertainty for the band, and helped drive them in a whole new direction - huge (literally) drums, overdriven grooves, and blown-out sounds. Robin lost her beautiful little boy, Danny, to SIDS in 2007. She fell into a depression so deep she couldn’t eat, couldn’t sleep, couldn’t function. Her 10-year relationship with her fiancé, Danny’s father, fell apart. She lost everything, including the will to live. Then finally one night after months of despair she googled “bereaved mother” to find help. What popped up was totally unexpected, and altered the course of her life completely... This is a powerful episode and a reminder that our deepest grief can also become our greatest ally and gift. Our suffering can help us become more empathetic and deepen our resolve to help others. Out of the darkest days of our life may come a spark of light that reveals truths that were hidden or we were blind to before. Pain can propel us towards living a life with more meaning and purpose. 'Rancho Relaxo (S03E08)What tangled webs we tooch! This week, we watched “The Girl Who Is Panic Stricken” and join the contestants for Sexy Fear Factor as they prepare to do battle with Rom The Vacuous Model and then I get yelled at after sending this episode in for a dumb Bloodborne reference. The show continues to be just utterly reprehensible to Toccara, a talent less irresponsible shows still wouldn’t deserve, Jay Manuel has a frightening, albeit brief moment of clarity about how they’re treating the girls, and an apology is given to a hat. Also, Erin, Cassie and Producer Spouse all argue about whether or not the Justified theme song is good. It isn’t. This weeks game changing guest is Miyoko Schinner, yes THE Miyoko, founder of Miyoko’s, the plant based cheese company revolutionizing dairy. Growing up as a vegetarian, Miyoko’s passion for fine food ignited during the 1980’s when rich and flavorful French cuisine and gourmet cheeses were a huge trend in her home city of Tokyo. As a self confessed cheese-a-holic, she found herself conflicted by her culinary tastes and her compassion for animals. Like many vegetarians, she struggled to give up these dairy rich foods. In true Miyoko style, she went vegan and boldly set out to create plant-based cheese and cuisine as artistic and decadent as the finest French foods she fell in love with. In this conversation we cover: - Miyoko’s life in Japan as a child. - The sweet potato cart story. - Moving to America with her family. - The way America changed the way they ate. - Going back to Japan, after becoming a cheese addict. - The challenges of entrepreneurship. - Rancho Relaxo, Miyoko’s farm sanctuary. - Starting Miyoko’s Creamery. - What’s in store for the future of the company. + More! I hope you really enjoy this episode. You can find Miyoko on Instagram at @miyokoscreamery and @miyokoschinner. The company website is https://miyokos.com/
