For too long the voices of Christians have tried to silent the LGBTQ+ community. But what happens to their voices when Christian music artists sing the Lords praise, and those performers happen to be members of the LGBTQ+ community? Do they abandon them? Call them fake Christians? Film producer Ry Levey brings his newest documentary to life - Song Silenced - where he explores the intersectionality of Christian Musician and the LGBTQ+ performer. In this episode you'll Discover how quasi-Christians treat LGBTQ+ Christian Musicians Unlock power of what it takes to be Christian and LGBTQ+ Learn why these types of documentaries are so important in our current social climate About Ry Levey Ry knows that music is a vital expression for many people, and a powerful part of the faith community—it's a form of celebration of that belief. But what happens when your voice is silenced, for living your truth? In his new documentary, SONG SILENCED: COMING OUT IN CHRISTIAN MUSIC, Ry features beloved classic and current music artists and personalities like Marsha Stevens, Ray Boltz, Flamy Grant, Semler, Billy Newton-Davis, Jess Grace Garcia, Azariah Southworth, Rev. Diedre Gray, Jason & deMarco, Ricky Braddy, Trey Pearson, Derek Webb, Deacon Ross Murray and Ronté Pierce. The documentary tells the stories of faith-based music professionals, who took a great risk in coming out of the closet and faced silencing, and "Out" artists in the space, who share their message of love, faith, and inclusion far and wide, on a mission of equality and for the right to be who you are without sacrifice or silence. Acts 8:26   And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert. 27 And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship, 28 Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet. 29 Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot. 30 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? 31 And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him. 32 The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth: 33 In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth. 34 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man? 35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. 36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? 37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. 38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. 39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing. 40 But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Caesarea.— — —Watch/Listen here using our Subsplash WebShare Playerhttps://cbcponca.subspla.sh/kysj88gListen on Archive.orghttps://archive.org/download/111523-wed-facebook-stream_202311/111523WED-FacebookStream.mp3

If Christian artists go off the rails, should we still listen to their music? What about pastors who had great theology but it has changed? Authors with some good books but others not so good?On today's podcast, Pastor Derek and Pastor Jackie talk through how we should view the message and the messenger in regards to media. It's a moral conundrum for some of whether or not they should listen to music from folks like Ray Boltz or Bob Dylan who once lived out the faith and have since been living in unrepentant sin. We dive into many biblical examples of God speaking through unrepentant people and help listeners gain clarity on these issues. The 17:17 podcast is a ministry of Roseville Baptist Church (MN) that seeks to tackle cultural issues and societal questions from a biblical worldview so that listeners discover what the Bible has to say about the key issues they face on a daily basis. The 17:17 podcast seeks to teach the truth of God's Word in a way that is glorifying to God and easy to understand with the hope of furthering God's kingdom in Spirit and in Truth. Scriptures: James 1:17; Num. 22:22-35; Num. 23, 24, & 31; Jude 11; 1 Sam. 2:27-36; 1 Sam. 3:2-18; 1 Sam. 4:17-18; 1 Kings 3:10-14; 1 Kings 11:9-13; 1 Sam. 13:14; 2 Sam. 11; Jonah 3:3-5; Jonah 4:1-2; John 11:49-53; Phil. 1:15-18; 2 Pet. 3:17; 2 John 1:8-11; 1 John 4:1-2; 1 Thess. 5:21-22; Matt. 16:5-12; Gal. 6:1-2; 2 Thess. 3:14-15; Rom. 6:12-15.Please listen, subscribe, rate, and review the podcast so that we can reach to larger audiences and share the truth of God's Word with them!Write in your own questions to be answered on the show at 1717pod@gmail.com or tweet at us @1717pod on Twitter.  God bless!

CHOOSE LOVE, CHOOSE LIFE My dear friend, as you step out today, go about your daily duties. Life will present you ideologies and will demand that you choose between different Gods. Essentially demanding you to bow. The God, ideology you choose will reveal where your devotion lies. It will determine your choices, inform your actions, and your actions will either move you, your family, society, nation forward or backwards. They will position you for God's blessings or curses. Be sure to choose the living God, the fountain of life and wisdom. Love Him with all your heart and mind and be equipped to love your fellow man and seek his highest good. Determine that there will be peace and love and righteousness and joy in your time by your choices. This Song comes to mind; I Pledge Allegiance To The Lamb (Song by Ray Boltz 1994) Chorus: I pledge allegiance to the Lamb With all my strength With all I am I will seek to honour His commands I pledge allegiance to the Lamb I have heard how Christians long ago Were brought before a tyrant's throne And they were told that he would spare their lives If they would renounce the name of Christ But one by one they chose to die The Son of God, they would not deny Like a great angelic choir sings I can almost hear their voices ring Chorus: Now the years have come and the years have gone But the cause of Jesus still goes on And now our time has come to count the cost To reject this world to embrace the Cross And one by one let us live our lives For the One who died to give us life Till the trumpet sounds on the final day Let us proudly stand and boldly say Chorus: To the Lamb of God who bore my pain Who took my place, Who wore my shame I will seek to honour His commands I pledge allegiance to the Lamb Chorus: amazon.com/anneajadi anneajadinspirations.com Instagram/arnajadi Twitter/arnajadi Facebook/anneajadi Youtube/anneajadi BOOKS BY Anne Ajadi: YOU WILL MARRY WELL GODS LADY IN WAITING WALK WITH ME IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF JESUS STRENGTH FOR THE JOURNEY HEART MATTERS, LIFE MATTERS

Over the years, Christians have watched many famous Christian personalities and celebrities walk away from the faith that they once preached (e.g., Marty Sampson of Hillsong United, Jon Steingard of Hawk Nelson, Pastor Joshua Harris, author of I Kissed Dating Goodbye, and performing artist Ray Boltz). As many of these celebrities walk away, those still in the faith are stuck with their books, writings, songs, and resources and wonder "what do we do with all of this now?"In this conversation of RTC, Marc and Fuller discuss how we handle Christian celebrities who walk away from the faith (or are in the process of deconstructing their faith) and what we should do with the content that they've produced. Links mentioned in this episode:https://www.premierchristianradio.com/Shows/Saturday/Unbelievable/Episodes/Unbelievable-Another-Christian-worship-leader-loses-his-faith-Jon-Steingard-and-Sean-McDowell https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zslyvZeU-IE Helpful links:Got Questions?: https://www.gotquestions.orgDwell Bible App: https://dwellapp.ioCross Formed Kids from Ryan Coatney: https://crossformedkids.comRTC Website: https://www.realtalkchristianpodcast.comRTC Store: https://teespring.com/stores/real-talk-christian-podcast?page=1RTC Quick links: http://linktr.ee/realtalkchristianpodcast Music used on RTC:Opening Song: "Joy" by Paul Lindgrenhttps://open.spotify.com/track/3VcYVaixPlAS1KDVgYo1Dy?si=TqSXguuVQNudJrkcRDDjIA Closing Song: "Adjust" by Paul Lindgrenhttps://open.spotify.com/track/16VMY0XxHDo0bLpp6dQpuc?si=a1khJqYTTtWyzeQEbtYGXg

The 7th grade history teacher is back, so get ready for some adult education. In this episode we discuss a term we've heard a lot of the last few years: "Nationalism." I remember being a kid and fighting back tears when I heard "I'm Proud to be an American" playing on the speakers at my little league game. (I also teared up at Ray Boltz music videos, so I guess I was a softy.) We grow up pledging allegiance to the American flag and celebrating Fourth of July's proudly. Is loving your country wrong? Or if it's not wrong, can it become dangerous? I invite you to listen in with an open mind as we discuss nationalism. (Sadly no Hamilton songs on this one. But maybe a little Les Mis.) --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/jonathan-tony/support
