"As he saith also in Osee, I will call them my people, which were not my people; and her beloved, which was not beloved. And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God. Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved: For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth. And as Esaias said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, we had been as Sodoma, and been made like unto Gomorrha." On this episode of Rightly Dividing, the book of Acts, or The Acts of the Apostles, shows us the life and ministry of the apostles of Jesus Christ from the gospels, including one who is “born out of due time”, the apostle Paul. But before he was an apostle of the Lord, Saul was a fearsome type of Antichrist, and we will look at that as well. Think you're called to the ministry? You better think again, the book of Acts shows you what the ministry is, and you may not like it much. Join us as we study the entire book of the Acts of the Apostles, verse by verse and chapter by chapter.“And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.” Acts 8:30,31 (KJB)TONIGHT'S STUDY: What can we say? It's the council at Jerusalem and the apostles are going to nail down what it means to be a Gentile in the Church Age and make it so simple and clear you'd have to work at it to miss it. In 2025, the vast majority of Christians miss it, but don't worry, we fix it for you on tonight's Bible Study. As we conclude our look at the council of Jerusalem, we are off to watch Paul answer the original Macedonian call!

Hebrews 12:11-13 KJV - 11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. 12 Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; 13 And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed Luke 3:3-6 KJV - 3 And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins; 4 As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. 5 Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth; 6 And all flesh shall see the salvation of God. Isaiah 40:1-8 KJV - Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God. 2 Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the LORD'S hand double for all her sins. 3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. 4 Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain: 5 And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it. 6 The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field: 7 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass. 8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever

Jesus needs us to remain vigilant & obedient to what he has told us to do regardless of persecution. In John 12 starting in verse 37 during the passover feast it sais "But though He had done some many miracles before them , yet they believed not on him. That the Scripture of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled , which he spake , Lord who will believe our report ? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed? going to verse 41 these things said Esaias , when he saw his glory , and spake of him. Nevertheless among the chief rulers also may believed on him but because of the phariess they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue. For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God. Jesus needs us to be confident and to not be afraid to be put out of a church building or to be rejected for standing for what Jesus himself has told us to do. https://www.smucd.org/blog  https://www.smucd.org/donate  If You would like to Join our Sermons every saturday at 5:30pm EST 4:30 South Dakota & surrounding states To Login Just click that 1st link and put in the passcode Sermon : Darrell Barber Praise & Worship: Ashley Barber Join Zoom Meeting https://zoom.us/j/96058013717?pwd=bHc1TVBGaWwyd3d6ZkMvbHlHZmMwQT09Meeting ID: 960 5801 3717 Passcode: i5nVGe https://www.smucd.org/blogOr you can go straight to our home pagehttps://www.smucd.org/scroll down all the way down till you see sermons and click join now You can also view us on our Live Stream/Video Page here to watch (just click the play button) https://www.smucd.org/videosIf you scroll down on our website you can also sign up for our email blast so we can send alerts updates and info for our Sermons and Bible studies#SMUCD  #JESUS #Baptism #BLIND #SIGHT #Rest #Slavery #Earings #Israel #TheBible  #Liloc #RiverOfZion #Anotherexodus  #peace #works #grace #deuteronomy28 #christ #prophecy  #Hebrews #Sermons #Oneness #thePast #TheFuture #Revelation

Enjoying the Journey
The Very Breath of God

Enjoying the Journey

Play Episode Listen Later Mar 26, 2025 10:04

(2 Timothy 3:16) Every Word from God is "God breathed"—it is connected to His very nature and life. Today we learn more about how God gave His Word to man and see the amazing proofs of divine inspiration in the Bible. (0975250326) ----more----   The Inspiration of Scripture Is God perfect? If God is perfect, would everything that comes from God comes out of God? Be perfect. If that's the case, then would you say God's breath? Is perfect. Someone says, that's a strange line of questioning. Not at all, because the Bible says that the word of God literally was breathed out from God. In other words, it came directly from God's very nature. It came from God's heart to us. Here's the verse 2 Timothy 3:16 says, "16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:" Now, we can't believe that the word of God is profitable if we don't believe the word of God is inspired. We use the word inspired fairly loosely today. Writers say, I had a moment of inspiration. Speakers say I felt inspired to say something, but the word inspiration in two Timothy 3:16 is not some some passing surface emotion. No, the word inspiration there literally means God-breathed. It was breathed out from the very nature of God. It came directly from God. To man.  Is God's Word Perfect? So I ask again, is God perfect? Oh, yes. God is perfect. If God is perfect, would everything that comes from God be perfect? Yes. Everything that comes directly from God would be perfect, untainted by sin and corruption. If everything that comes out of God is perfect, then would not the very God-breathed words of Scripture be perfect? One of the great struggles that people have is whether the word of God can be trusted to be perfect in every way. My question is this: Does it come from a perfect God? We're going to talk more about how God preserved his word through the ages and God's promise to do that. But let me just say right up front that to question the authority and the accurateness of scripture is to question the very nature of God. In fact, the Bible says that God has set his word above his name. Do you understand? God's name is on the line? Is God powerful enough to preserve his word? Is God wise enough to give his word perfectly the first time? All of this goes to our theology, to what we believe about God. So I read again that all scripture is given by the inspiration of God. Aren't you glad it's been given that God spoke through the Bible writers? So that when they wrote it was without error, without omission, and without exaggeration, we might say it this way. It was the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.  Human Penman and the Bible And that doesn't mean that God made men robots. He never does that. He allows men to work with him. What a privilege to be laborers together with God. And such was the case for these Bible writers. The truth was conveyed in such a way that it employed those men. For example, the human penman personal experience comes out. There's no doubt. They're giving firsthand accounts many times. You can see Peter's personality shine through. You can hear Paul's educational background come through their historical accounts and read the gospel according to Luke. And it's very obvious that a medical doctor, a physician, someone with knowledge of the human body and of those types of things is writing a very detailed account. So, the information is given directly from God through men, and he employs and uses those men, their backgrounds, their style of writing. It's wonderful. And before scripture was written down, information, truth, historical accounts, and information handed down through parents were passed along verbally. Words that were passed on from generation to generation. But aren't you glad God wrote it down for us? He wrote it down on the pages of holy scripture. So we're not resting on dreams and visions and experiences. Now, somebody said, I wish we had the truth in black and white. You do have the truth in black and white. God gave us the truth in his holy word. It is literally the voice of God to us. Lemme give you some examples. Acts 28:25 is a beautiful expression the Bible says, "25 And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers," Then who does he say is speaking? The Holy Spirit was speaking. He was speaking through Isaiah, but Isaiah was simply the mouthpiece, if you will. But the word was the very word of God. How about this one? Peter chapter one, verse number 11 says, searching what or what manner of time the spirit of Christ, which was in them did signify when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glory that should follow who was speaking through these prophets, the spirit of Christ. Which was in them. A Peter would use a similar expression in his second letter. In 2 Peter 1:21, read this "21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." It was God speaking through the man. The truth was always, no matter what the means was, the truth was always given by the inspiration of God. That inspiration extends to the very words, not just the general ideas. God didn't just give us the big idea. He inspired the very words that were given. We believe that he inspired every word, not just some of them. The only thing in your Bible that's not inspired are the chapter and verse divisions. Chapter divisions were inserted by a man named Stephen Langston. Who died in about 1228, and the verse divisions were added in 1551. Now let me just pause and say I appreciate chapter in verse divisions because they ate in our study, but those divisions were not given by inspiration. What was given by the inspiration of God was the very words in the Word of God.  Proofs of Scriptural Inspiration There's so many proofs to the inspiration of scripture. There are internal proofs. For example, think of the unity of the Bible. A book written over 1,600 years, by 40 different human penman in different languages on three continents covering 1,600 miles and yet perfect unity, no contradiction. You read its internal claims repeatedly, phrases like, "Thus saith the Lord," "God said," and "The word of the Lord came." Those kind of statements appear more than 2,000 times in the Bible. The word claims to be holy. It claims to be the Oracles of God. Think of how truthful and transparent the scripture is. There's not another book on earth where the author would speak so plainly about the great failings of men that a man, a human pen, when would write down his own sins. They're given by inspiration of God. It's more than the words of men, and there are only internal proofs. There are external proofs. It's powerful. No other book has literally transformed people's lives. I. Somebody said that where the Bible was best known, civilization rose to its highest levels. It's the first book in printing, the first book ever printed. It's the first in literature. No book has ever been translated intoes. It's the first in history, theology, prophecy, biography, and so many language laws. Why is that? Because it is the very word of the living God.  The Eternal Truth of the Bible Did you know that the average life of a bestseller is about five years? That's all. And that 75% of all books go to the scrap heap within 90 days. Yet the Bible is still the bestselling book of all time. Why is that? Because truth is timeless. It is the eternal truth of the living God. It was Carlisle who said, no lie can live forever. Friend, the word of God is forever settled in heaven. It is indeed the word of the living God. God still alive and so is his word.  And I want to challenge you today to spend some time meditating on God's word and realize that it is not simply the word of David, Paul, or Moses. This is the word of the living God. Ask the God of the word, the author who lives inside of you to use his book to speak to you today. Outro and Resources Repeating what other people have said about the Bible is not enough. We must know the biblical reason behind what we believe. We hope you will visit us at etj.bible to access our Library of Bible teaching resources, including book-by-book studies of Scripture. You'll also find studies to watch, listen to, or read. We are so grateful for those who pray for us, who share the biblical content and for those who invest to help us advance this ministry worldwide. Again, thank you for listening, and we hope you'll join us next time on Enjoying the Journey.

For if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister unto them in carnal things.  (28)  When therefore I have performed this, and have sealed to them this fruit, I will come by you into Spain.  (29)  And I am sure that, when I come unto you, I shall come in the fulness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ.  (3

"The Providence Of God" Acts 28:16-31 Brother Wade Cox 16 And when we came to Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard: but Paul was suffered to dwell by himself with a soldier that kept him.17 And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the Jews together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men and brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people, or customs of our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.18 Who, when they had examined me, would have let me go, because there was no cause of death in me.19 But when the Jews spake against it, I was constrained to appeal unto Caesar; not that I had ought to accuse my nation of.20 For this cause therefore have I called for you, to see you, and to speak with you: because that for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.21 And they said unto him, We neither received letters out of Judaea concerning thee, neither any of the brethren that came shewed or spake any harm of thee.22 But we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest: for as concerning this sect, we know that every where it is spoken against.23 And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.24 And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.25 And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers,26 Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive:27 For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.28 Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.29 And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves.30 And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him,31 Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.

November 24 2024 Sunday Week 30 / Your Place In Him / T. Stacy Hayes #findoutwhoyouare My Vision My vision is to teach the world Who They Are In Jesus Christ their Lord and Savior! To Teach them what the Bible says about them and who they have been made to be in the promises of God's Word. This changed my life years ago and completely transformed me from a person full of doubt, fear and unbelief to a strong confident Christian that knows I can do anything through Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior. And I'm determined to teach the world what God has taught and commissioned me to teach and that is His Word.  That commission takes me to jails and detention centers weekly along with other open doors at many churches and ministries that are wanting to teach these important truths to the world. My podcast goes out 6 days a week to help the people I am ministering to grow in the truths that God has taught me for many years now. This podcast is free to all that want to listen and grow strong in who God has made them to be in Christ Jesus their Lord and Savior. The Good News I According to St. John:  In the beginning was the Logos, and the Logos was with God, and the Word was God.  He was in the beginning with God.  All things were made through Him, and without Him was not any thing made that was made. (1:1-2)   Genesis 1: 26a, 27-28a Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness… So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it and rule...    SUBDUE?!  RULE?! Subdue into the pattern of the good, the beautiful and the true.   The Curse (expulsion from Eden) Using Beauty Against Itself? (the line of Cain) The End of the Good, Beautiful, and the True? (Nephalim etc.)   Genesis 9:1,7 And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth... (every wild beast will dread you)... And you, be ye fruitful, and multiply; bring forth abundantly in the earth, and multiply therein.   Genesis 11 –  The Tower of Babel   The Restoration: Luke 3: 3-6 And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins;  As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.  Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth; And all flesh shall see the salvation of God. The Good News II According to St. John:  And the Logos become flesh and dwelt among us.  (1:14a) To all who received him, who believed in his name, He gave power to become children of God. (1:12) And according to St. Paul: In [Christ] you also, who have heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and have believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, which is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory. (e.g. Ephesians 1:13-14).    St. Matthew 28:16-20 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.   Beauty in Nature, Architecture, Art, Literature, Music, Fellowship, and THE GULAG?!   One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich   Gives insights into how people ended up in the Gulag This is really developed in the Gulag Archipelago  Ivan admitted that he surrendered to Germany to betray the USSR The young Gopchik gave milk to Ukrainian guerrillas The foreman was discharged for being the son of a kulak (SoanEotP) Some insights into the state of faith and religion in the USSR Corruption in the Russian Orthodox Church Faith of the peasant/redneck (represented by Ukrainian) Orthodox Faith and (beautiful) martyrdom of the Baptists One Day - On Beauty and Art (presages his essay) Two bookkeepers, also zeks, were toasting bread on the stove.  They'd rigged up a sort of wire griddle to keep it from burning. Tsezar was lolling at his desk, smoking his pipe.  He had his back to Shukhov and didn't see him.  Opposite him sat Kh-123, a wiry old man doing twenty years' hard.  He was eating gruel. "You're wrong, old man," Tsezar was saying, goodnaturedly.  "Objectively, you will have to admit that Eisenstein is a genius.  Surely you can't deny that Ivan the Terrible is a work of genius?  The dance of the masked oprichniki!  The scene in the cathedral!" Kh-123's spoon stopped short of his mouth. "Bogus," he said angrily.  "So much art in it that it ceases to be art.  Pepper and poppy seed instead of good honest bread.  And the political motive behind it is utterly loathsome — an attempt to justify a tyrannical individual.  An insult to the memory of three generations of the Russian intelligentsia!" (He was eating his gruel without savoring it.  It wouldn't do him any good.) "But would it have got past the censor if he'd handled it differently?" "Oh well, if that's what matters...  Only don't call him a genius — call him a toady, a dog carrying out his master's orders.  A genius doesn't adjust his treatment of a theme to a tyrant's taste." "Ahem!"  Shukhov cleared his throat.  He felt awkward, interrupting this educated conversation, but he couldn't just go on standing there. Tsezar turned around and held his hand out for the bowl, without even looking at Shukhov — the gruel might have traveled through the air unaided — then went back to his argument.  "Yes, but art isn't what you do, it's how you do it." Kh-123 reared up and chopped at the table with his hand. "I don't give a damn how you do it if it doesn't awaken good feelings in me!" Shukhov stood there just as long as he decently could after handing over the gruel, hoping Tsezar would treat him to a cigarette.  But Tsezar had entirely forgotten that Shukhov was behind him.  So he turned on his heel and left quietly. Never mind, it wasn't all that cold outside.  A great day for bricklaying. Walking down the path, he spotted a bit of steel broken off a hacksaw blade lying in the snow.  He had no special use for it right then, but you never knew what you might need later.  So he picked it up and slipped it into his trouser pocket.  Have to hide it in the Power Station.  Thrift beats riches.   Solzhenitsyn:  Beauty will Save the World   Part One:  The Ontology of Beauty One artist sees himself as the creator of an independent spiritual world; he hoists onto his shoulders the task of creating this world, of peopling it and of bearing the all-embracing responsibility for it; but he crumples beneath it, for a mortal genius is not capable of bearing such a burden. Just as man in general, having declared himself the centre of existence, has not succeeded in creating a balanced spiritual system. And if misfortune overtakes him, he casts the blame upon the age-long disharmony of the world, upon the complexity of today's ruptured soul, or upon the stupidity of the public. Another artist, recognizing a higher power above, gladly works as a humble apprentice beneath God's heaven; then, however, his responsibility for everything that is written or drawn, for the souls which perceive his work, is more exacting than ever. But, in return, it is not he who has created this world, not he who directs it, there is no doubt as to its foundations; the artist has merely to be more keenly aware than others of the harmony of the world, of the beauty and ugliness of the human contribution to it, and to communicate this acutely to his fellow-men. And in misfortune, and even at the depths of existence – in destitution, in prison, in sickness his sense of stable harmony never deserts him.   But all the irrationality of art, its dazzling turns, its unpredictable discoveries, its shattering influence on human beings – they are too full of magic to be exhausted by this artist's vision of the world, by his artistic conception or by the work of his unworthy fingers.   Part Two:  Can (Just) Beauty Save? One day Dostoevsky threw out the enigmatic remark: “Beauty will save the world.” What sort of a statement is that? For a long time I considered it mere words. How could that be possible? When in bloodthirsty history did beauty ever save anyone from anything? Ennobled, uplifted, yes – but whom has it saved? … It is possible to compose an outwardly smooth and elegant political speech, a headstrong article, a social program, or a philosophical system on the basis of both a mistake and a lie. What is hidden, what distorted, will not immediately become obvious. Then a contradictory speech, article, program, a differently constructed philosophy rallies in opposition – and all just as elegant and smooth, and once again it works. Which is why such things are both trusted and mistrusted… But a work of art bears within itself its own verification: conceptions which are devised or stretched do not stand being portrayed in images, they all come crashing down, appear sickly and pale, convince no one. But those works of art which have scooped up the truth and presented it to us as a living force – they take hold of us, compel us, and nobody ever, not even in ages to come, will appear to refute them. So perhaps that ancient trinity of Truth, Goodness and Beauty is not simply an empty, faded formula as we thought in the days of our self-confident, materialistic youth? If the tops of these three trees converge, as the scholars maintained, but the too blatant, too direct stems of Truth and Goodness are crushed, cut down, not allowed through – then perhaps the fantastic, unpredictable, unexpected stems of Beauty will push through and soar TO THAT VERY SAME PLACE, and in so doing will fulfil the work of all three? In that case Dostoevsky's remark, “Beauty will save the world”, was not a careless phrase but a prophecy? After all HE was granted to see much, a man of fantastic illumination. And in that case art, literature might really be able to help the world today? It is the small insight which, over the years, I have succeeded in gaining into this matter that I shall attempt to lay before you here today.   Part Three:  The Terrible Beauty of the Gulag And as I stand here today, accompanied by the shadows of the fallen, with bowed head allowing others who were worthy before to pass ahead of me to this place, as I stand here, how am I to divine and to express what THEY would have wished to say? Frequently, in painful camp seethings, in a column of prisoners, when chains of lanterns pierced the gloom of the evening frosts, there would well up inside us the words that we should like to cry out to the whole world, if the whole world could hear one of us. Then it seemed so clear: what our successful ambassador would say, and how the world would immediately respond with its comment. Our horizon embraced quite distinctly both physical things and spiritual movements, and it saw no lop-sidedness in the indivisible world. These ideas did not come from books, neither were they imported for the sake of coherence. They were formed in conversations with people now dead, in prison cells and by forest fires, they were tested against THAT life, they grew out of THAT existence. When at last the outer pressure grew a little weaker, my and our horizon broadened and gradually, albeit through a minute chink, we saw and knew “the whole world”. And to our amazement the whole world was not at all as we had expected, as we had hoped; that is to say a world living “not by that”, a world leading “not there”, a world which could exclaim at the sight of a muddy swamp, “what a delightful little puddle!”, at concrete neck stocks, “what an exquisite necklace!”; but instead a world where some weep inconsolate tears and others dance to a light-hearted musical. How could this happen? Why the yawning gap? Were we insensitive? Was the world insensitive? Or is it due to language differences? Why is it that people are not able to hear each other's every distinct utterance? Words cease to sound and run away like water – without taste, colour, smell. Without trace. As I have come to understand this, so through the years has changed and changed again the structure, content and tone of my potential speech. The speech I give today. And it has little in common with its original plan, conceived on frosty camp evenings.   Part Four:  The Babel of Local Scales Mankind has become one, but not steadfastly one as communities or even nations used to be; not united through years of mutual experience, neither through possession of a single eye, affectionately called crooked, nor yet through a common native language, but, surpassing all barriers, through international broadcasting and print. An avalanche of events descends upon us – in one minute half the world hears of their splash. But the yardstick by which to measure those events and to evaluate them in accordance with the laws of unfamiliar parts of the world – this is not and cannot be conveyed via soundwaves and in newspaper columns. For these yardsticks were matured and assimilated over too many years of too specific conditions in individual countries and societies; they cannot be exchanged in mid-air. In the various parts of the world men apply their own hard-earned values to events, and they judge stubbornly, confidently, only according to their own scales of values and never according to any others.   In one part of the world, not so long ago, under persecutions not inferior to those of the ancient Romans', hundreds of thousands of silent Christians gave up their lives for their belief in God. In the other hemisphere a certain madman, (and no doubt he is not alone), speeds across the ocean to DELIVER us from religion – with a thrust of steel into the high priest! He has calculated for each and every one of us according to his personal scale of values!   One world, one mankind cannot exist in the face of six, four or even two scales of values: we shall be torn apart by this disparity of rhythm, this disparity of vibrations. A man with two hearts is not for this world, neither shall we be able to live side by side on one Earth. Part Five:  Art Shares, Shapes, and Preserves Culture But who will co-ordinate these value scales, and how? … Who might succeed in impressing upon a bigoted, stubborn human creature the distant joy and grief of others, an understanding of dimensions and deceptions which he himself has never experienced? Propaganda, constraint, scientific proof – all are useless. But fortunately there does exist such a means in our world! That means is art. That means is literature.   …  They possess a wonderful ability: beyond distinctions of language, custom, social structure, they can convey the life experience of one whole nation to another.  [It also] becomes the living memory of the nation. Thus it preserves and kindles within itself the flame of her spent history, in a form which is safe from deformation and slander. In this way literature, together with language, protects the soul of the nation. But woe to that nation whose literature is disturbed by the intervention of power. Because that is not just a violation against “freedom of print”, it is the closing down of the heart of the nation, a slashing to pieces of its memory. … In some cases moreover – when as a result of such a silence the whole of history ceases to be understood in its entirety – it is a danger to the whole of mankind.   Part Six:  Lies and Suppression Destroy What is more, it is not simply crude power that triumphs abroad, but its exultant justification. … The young, at an age when they have not yet any experience other than sexual, when they do not yet have years of personal suffering and personal understanding behind them, are jubilantly repeating our depraved Russian blunders of the Nineteenth Century, under the impression that they are discovering something new. … And on top of this we are threatened by destruction in the fact that the physically compressed, strained world is not allowed to blend spiritually; the molecules of knowledge and sympathy are not allowed to jump over from one half to the other. This presents a rampant danger: THE SUPPRESSION OF INFORMATION between the parts of the planet.  Contemporary science knows that suppression of information leads to entropy and total destruction. Suppression of information renders international signatures and agreements illusory; within a muffled zone it costs nothing to reinterpret any agreement, even simpler – to forget it, as though it had never really existed. (Orwell understood this supremely.)  A muffled zone is, as it were, populated not by inhabitants of the Earth, but by an expeditionary corps from Mars; the people know nothing intelligent about the rest of the Earth and are prepared to go and trample it down in the holy conviction that they come as “liberators”. Part Seven:  Creating a Shared Human Story Friends! Let us try to help if we are worth anything at all! Who from time immemorial has constituted the uniting, not the dividing, strength in your countries, lacerated by discordant parties, movements, castes and groups? There in its essence is the position of writers: expressers of their native language – the chief binding force of the nation, of the very earth its people occupy, and at best of its national spirit. We shall be told: what can literature possibly do against the ruthless onslaught of open violence? But let us not forget that violence does not live alone and is not capable of living alone: it is necessarily interwoven with falsehood. Between them lies the most intimate, the deepest of natural bonds. Violence finds its only refuge in falsehood, falsehood its only support in violence. Any man who has once acclaimed violence as his METHOD must inexorably choose falsehood as his PRINCIPLE. And the simple step of a simple courageous man is not to partake in falsehood, not to support false actions! Let THAT enter the world, let it even reign in the world – but not with my help. But writers and artists can achieve more: they can CONQUER FALSEHOOD! In the struggle with falsehood art always did win and it always does win! Openly, irrefutably for everyone! Falsehood can hold out against much in this world, but not against art. And no sooner will falsehood be dispersed than the nakedness of violence will be revealed in all its ugliness – and violence, decrepit, will fall. That is why, my friends, I believe that we are able to help the world in its white-hot hour. Not by making the excuse of possessing no weapons, and not by giving ourselves over to a frivolous life – but by going to war! Proverbs about truth are well-loved in Russian. They give steady and sometimes striking expression to the not inconsiderable harsh national experience: ONE WORD OF TRUTH SHALL OUTWEIGH THE WHOLE WORLD. And it is here, on an imaginary fantasy, a breach of the principle of the conservation of mass and energy, that I base both my own activity and my appeal to the writers of the whole world.

Luke 4:31-37 - Jesus First Rejection

Jesus had just preached His first recorded message in the Gospel of Luke in the synagogue of His hometown of Nazareth. The message began with the people in amazement at “the gracious words that proceeded out of His mouth” but ended with the people “filled with wrath” attempting to kill Jesus by throwing Him over a cliff on the edge of the village. Instead of receiving Him as the Messiah that He told them that He was, they rejected Him.   Think about it! It is hard enough to be rejected and mistreated by those we don't know, but to be rejected by those who are longtime friends and acquaintances in our hometown would be extremely painful. John's Gospel tells us that “Jesus came to His own and His own received Him not” (John 1:11). This is the first recorded rejection we have of Jesus in Luke, and you can imagine the heart of Jesus must have been broken. But Jesus, no doubt knew the prophecy of Isaiah 53:3, “He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.”   I have heard the stories over the years of many pastors and Christians who enthusiastically begin preaching or teaching only to almost immediately run into conflict and opposition from the very people they are attempting to minister to, and they are so hurt that they just throw up their hands and give up and quit. But thank the Lord, Jesus did not give up or quit. He quietly slipped away and walked about 30 miles to the town of Capernaum and continued His ministry of teaching in the synagogue on the Sabbaths.   We know from previous verses (Luke 4:14-15; 23), that Jesus had already been in this region of Galilee, preaching, teaching, healing, and doing miracles. And that He was well known as the stories began to spread throughout the area. Notice in verse 31 where it says, “Jesus went down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee”. “Jesus went down…”.  Jesus came down to us from heaven. “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.” (2 Corinthians 8:9).   This region of Galilee was a region of darkness. Matthew's Gospel describes it this way: “And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles; The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up. From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matthew 4:13-17).   This region of Israel was indeed a dark area spiritually! As you read the Gospels you get the idea that there was demon possessed people everywhere. There is wickedness and evil on every hand. Hatred, violence and conflict abound as Capernaum was at the north side of the Sea of Galilee and was a stopping place for all the traffic of both armies and traders going from the north to the south on their way to Egypt and other parts of Africa.   This is the region Jesus chose to make His headquarters for His three and a half years of ministry on earth. We couldn't come up to Jesus, so He came down to us. And almost immediately again Jesus is opposed by a demon possessed man.   We live in a dark, demon possessed, sin cursed world today! We should not be surprised when we face opposition as we attempt to share the Good News. And we should always remember Jesus who is our example and the verse in Romans 5:20; “…But where sin abounded, grace did much more abounded”.   Thank God Jesus didn't quit and neither should we.   God bless!

This is number 238 in our series of “Get Biblical Understanding.” In this session we're reading many but certainly not all of the biblical verses that have to do with a Deterrent.Webster's dictionary of 1828 (which many of its definitions are taken from the Scriptures) records the act of deterring as discouraging or stopping by fear; to stop or prevent from proceeding, by danger, difficulty or other consideration which disheartens, or countervails the motive for an act.We are often deterred from our duty by trivial difficulties.ACTS 5:10-11 Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband. And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things. ACTS 12:21-23 And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them. And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man. And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost. ACTS 13:6-12 And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Bar-jesus: Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God. But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith. Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him, And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord? And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand. Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord. ACTS 13:40-41 Beware therefore, lest that come upon you, which is spoken of in the prophets; Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you. ACTS 19:16-17 And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified. ROMANS 9:28-29 For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth. And as Esaias said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, we had been as Sodoma, and been made like unto Gomorrha. Thanks for listening and we hope you'll join us again as we search the Scriptures in order to “Get Biblical Understanding.”

Only God knows our heart and from Him alone comes our only true insights.ACTS 15:8-9 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us; And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.ACTS 16:14 And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul.ACTS 21:13 Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.ACTS 28:25-28 And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers, Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive: For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.ROMANS 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.ROMANS 2:5-6 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; Who will render to every man according to his deeds:ROMANS 2:14-15 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: Which show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another; Our website: www.thebereancall.orgStore: store.thebereancall.org

The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. We all are blessed with minds to envision the future we want.  Without a  doubt, we can be the person we want to be. However, it's the actions we take today that pave the way to that envisioned future. Taking the first step isn't always easy, but it's often the most crucial.  When it involves stepping into unknown territory like entrepreneurship, the task can be  especially difficult.    Hence, we must be reminded that starting small and learning as you go can lead to significant success. Each step we take, no matter how small, moves us closer to our goals. It's easy to feel overwhelmed by the vastness of the task ahead, but by breaking it down into smaller, manageable steps, we can make progress. It's about embracing the journey, learning from setbacks, and continually pushing forward.    Esaias Guthrie is an athlete, entrepreneur, and a graduate of Jackson State University who is now returning to further his education in the master's program. Guthrie made a name for himself during the 2021 season in which he led the MEAC in interceptions (4) and ranked third in passes defended (9). Earlier this year, Esaias announced that he is starting a group home business for the community.   He loves to help those in need of assisted living in Jackson and surrounding areas. It is called “Guthrie Haven Homes.”    In this episode with Esaias Guthrie, we will discover the unique journey of a student-athlete turned entrepreneur, and how his experiences on the field have shaped his approach to business and leadership. Our conversation touches on his lesson about time management, prioritization, and skill development and how he has applied these skills to his venture, Guth Haven Homes. Buckle up as we learn how to get started in the world of entrepreneurship and make a positive impact in our communities.   "Getting started now is the best thing because plans, sometimes they just die, and so just jumping in and figuring out for yourself is the best teacher." – Esaias Guthrie   Topics Covered: (00:00:34) Introducing our special guest, Esaias Guthrie. This morning we are going to look into and see if Jesus or as I like to say Yahshua Messiah, was born on December 25. Now I realize that within the Church world that it is taught that Jesus/Yahshua was born on December 25. But is that correct?Using Scripture from Yahweh's Word we will find out the truth on this subject. And then my friends you must draw your own conclusion. Keep in mind the words of Yahweh; Colossians 2:8, “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Yahshua Messiah.”Mark 7:6-8, “He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of Yahweh, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.” Hebrews 13:9 “Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein.”1Timothy 6:20 “O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:Luke 1 Luke meaning “Light Giver”5)  Herod = “hero-likeZacharias = “Yah has remembered”Elisabeth = “”God/El of Oath”. Her son being that oath and promiseZacharias is a Levite Priest. Note that his wife Elizabeth is also a Levite or from the tribe of AaronAbijah = “My Father is Yahweh” What is this course? This is the 8th course of 24. In which King David set up at his time of rule. Read 1 Chro. 24, especially verse 10. According to custom, each of the Priests must officiate for one full week in the Temple of Yahweh. The courses started at the first New Moon of the first month of the Jewish Civil Year. Now knowing this, Zacharias course fell on our June 13-19. This period of time important, for this sets the time of the birth and conception of John and His cousin Yahshua, our Saviour. [Note the course run form Sabbath to Sabbath]23  days = his week of June 20th. Note Zacharias lived app. 30 miles from the Temple. For a man his age, it took him 2 days to walk home, therefore making the date around June 22-23.24  after = “meta” association and companionship [relating to the events of Zacharias upon his arrival home] conceived = possibly June 23 or 24 hid = completely secluded. Probably to avoid all possibility of uncleanness, as in Judges 13:4-7, 12-14five months = Nov. 2426  sixth month = Dec. 25Galilee = “circuit”  Nazareth = “the guarded one”36  cousin = therefore Mary must have some Levite blood within her. 6th month = being the 24 or 25 of our DecemberTake note both of these pregnancies are perfect. For they are from Yahweh! So therefore, Yahshua was conceived 6 months AFTER John, so this conception would be on Dec. 2557  full time = a perfect 280 day's, March 28-29Luke 24   Joseph = increase Galilee = “circuit” those 20 cities given to King of Tyre from Solomon Nazareth = “the guarded one City of David = also called Zion Bethlehem = “House of Bread"House of David = that King line out of Judah7   On that 1st day of the Feast of Tabernacles, Tishri 15th. This is why Yahshua is our true Tabernacle [Hebrews 8:2]. Now, this would have been on our Sept. 29, 4 BC11   is born this day = That 1st day of the Feast of Tabernacles [go to charts of the calendars]in the city of David = BethlehiemHave any questions? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages.Luke 3:15   And as the people were in expectation, and all men mused in their hearts of John, whether he were the Christ, or not; 16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire: 17 Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable. 18 And many other things in his exhortation preached he unto the people. 19 But Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias his brother Philip's wife, and for all the evils which Herod had done, 20 Added yet this above all, that he shut up John in prison.Luke 3:21   Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, 22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.— — —Watch/Listen here using our Subsplash WebShare Playerhttps://cbcponca.subspla.sh/3gystx2Listen on archive.orghttps://archive.org/download/121023-am-facebook-stream/121023AM-FacebookStream.mp3

Acts 8:26   And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert. 27 And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship, 28 Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet. 29 Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot. 30 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? 31 And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him. 32 The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth: 33 In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth. 34 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man? 35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. 36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? 37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. 38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. 39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing. 40 But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Caesarea.— — —Watch/Listen here using our Subsplash WebShare Playerhttps://cbcponca.subspla.sh/kysj88gListen on Archive.orghttps://archive.org/download/111523-wed-facebook-stream_202311/111523WED-FacebookStream.mp3

(John 12:20-50) Jhn 12:20  And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast: Jhn 12:21  The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus. Jhn 12:22  Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus. Jhn 12:23  And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified. Jhn 12:24  Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. Jhn 12:25  He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. Jhn 12:26  If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour. The Son of Man Must Be Lifted Up Jhn 12:27  Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour. Jhn 12:28  Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again. Jhn 12:29  The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him. Jhn 12:30  Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes. Jhn 12:31  Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. Jhn 12:32  And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. Jhn 12:33  This he said, signifying what death he should die. Jhn 12:34  The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man? Jhn 12:35  Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. The Unbelief of the People Jhn 12:36  While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them. Jhn 12:37  But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him: Jhn 12:38  That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed? Jhn 12:39  Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again, Jhn 12:40  He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them. Jhn 12:41  These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him. Jhn 12:42  Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue: Jhn 12:43  For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God. Jesus Came to Save the World Jhn 12:44  Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me. Jhn 12:45  And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me. Jhn 12:46  I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness. Jhn 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. Jhn 12:48  He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. Jhn 12:49  For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. Jhn 12:50  And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

Today we officially kick-off our week long celebration of the establishment of our Bibles Behind Bars program that delivers King James Bibles, New Testaments and scripture portions to inmates in jails, prisons and migrant detention centers all across America. It is completely free to the institutions we send them to, they don't even pay for the shipping. Jesus had such a heart for the prisoner trapped in sin, so what better way to begin this Bibles Behind Bars celebratory Sunday Service than by seeing how Jesus started His earthly ministry?“And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.” Luke 4:17-19 (KJB)Jesus came for the prisoner, the ones in physical prisons and for the ones trapped in the prison of sin with no Saviour to set them free, and lead them out of darkness and into the glorious light of God. When Jesus commissioned Saul in Acts 9, the Lord gave him a charge to “open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.” Think about it. Jesus, though innocent, was crucified between two prisoners on the cross, Paul was in jail so often that he was called the “ambassador in bonds”, with the Lord having him get arrested so he could preach to the Philippian jailer who gets saved right there in jail! At the Judgment of Nations in the gospel of Matthew, Jesus says “Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.” On this NTEB Sunday Service, join us as we celebrate one year of sending the glorious light of the gospel of the kingdom of God into the jails, behind the bars, to set the captives free. We will also be observing the Lord's Supper at the conclusion of the preaching, so have your grape juice and matzoh's handy!

It has to come as a surprise to find a Christian church—a Gentile Christian church—observing the Passover. The Passover is a Jewish festival, right? Then what is a gentile church like Corinth doing observing the Passover? Paul gives us no wiggle room at all, and scholars have long realized, that the allusions to the Passover in 1 Corinthians 5, make it clear that the Corinthian church was observing the Passover when Paul wrote them the letter. Why on earth would they do that? And if they observed the Passover, how come modern Christian churches don't observe it? Now this is an interesting story and it bears a closer look.Everybody knows that the Christian church was, in its earliest years, entirely Jewish. Every man woman and child who was in that church was Jewish. No one thought of abandoning their law and their customs. But they had a significant problem. Jesus had rejected out of hand that package of customs we would call Judaism—and they called, the traditions of the fathers. Again and again, Jesus threw out traditions that conflicted with the law of God, but he affirmed the written law of the Old Testament. He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.Mark 7:6–9

By Pastor by Oscar Reuben (Matthew 13:10-17) — Mat 13:10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? Mat 13:11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. Mat 13:12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath. Mat 13:13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. Mat 13:14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: Mat 13:15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. Mat 13:16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. Mat 13:17 For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

15:1 We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. 15:2 Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification. 15:3 For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me. 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. 15:5 Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus: 15:6 That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15:7 Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God. 15:8 Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers: 15:9 And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written, For this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy name. 15:10 And again he saith, Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with his people. 15:11 And again, Praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles; and laud him, all ye people. 15:12 And again, Esaias saith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust. 15:13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. 15:14 And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another. 15:15 Nevertheless, brethren, I have written the more boldly unto you in some sort, as putting you in mind, because of the grace that is given to me of God, 15:16 That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost. 15:17 I have therefore whereof I may glory through Jesus Christ in those things which pertain to God. 15:18 For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed, 15:19 Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ. 15:20 Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man's foundation: 15:21 But as it is written, To whom he was not spoken of, they shall see: and they that have not heard shall understand. 15:22 For which cause also I have been much hindered from coming to you. 15:23 But now having no more place in these parts, and having a great desire these many years to come unto you; 15:24 Whensoever I take my journey into Spain, I will come to you: for I trust to see you in my journey, and to be brought on my way thitherward by you, if first I be somewhat filled with your company. 15:25 But now I go unto Jerusalem to minister unto the saints. 15:26 For it hath pleased them of Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor saints which are at Jerusalem. 15:27 It hath pleased them verily; and their debtors they are. For if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister unto them in carnal things. 15:28 When therefore I have performed this, and have sealed to them this fruit, I will come by you into Spain. 15:29 And I am sure that, when I come unto you, I shall come in the fulness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ. 15:30 Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ's sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me; 15:31 That I may be delivered from them that do not believe in Judaea; and that my service which I have for Jerusalem may be accepted of the s...

Calvary Chapel of Philadelphia - Wednesday Night Teaching

9:1 I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost, 9:2 That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart. 9:3 For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh: 9:4 Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises; 9:5 Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen. 9:6 Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel: 9:7 Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called. 9:8 That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed. 9:9 For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sarah shall have a son. 9:10 And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac; 9:11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;) 9:12 It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger. 9:13 As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. 9:14 What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid. 9:15 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. 9:16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy. 9:17 For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth. 9:18 Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth. 9:19 Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will? 9:20 Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? 9:21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? 9:22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: 9:23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory, 9:24 Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles? 9:25 As he saith also in Osee, I will call them my people, which were not my people; and her beloved, which was not beloved. 9:26 And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God. 9:27 Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved: 9:28 For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth. 9:29 And as Esaias said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, we had been as Sodoma, and been made like unto Gomorrha.

Matthew 4:12-17 KJV Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee; 13 And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim: 14 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, 15 The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles; 16 The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up. 17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/mildred-kingsley-okonkwo0/message

Calvary Chapel of Philadelphia - Sunday Morning Teaching

12:37 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him: 12:38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed? 12:39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again, 12:40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them. 12:41 These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him. 12:42 Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue: 12:43 For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God. 12:44 Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me. 12:45 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me. 12:46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness. 12:47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. 12:48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. 12:49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. 12:50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.
