Self-care isn't about pampering or indulgence—it's a fundamental aspect of adulting. It's the conscious choice to prioritize our well-being, so we can show up fully in our work, relationships, and lives.   At the core of self-care is emotional intelligence: the ability to recognize, understand, and manage our emotions. When we are emotionally aware, we can better navigate stress, prevent burnout, and make more thoughtful decisions. Self-care begins with self-awareness—taking time to assess where we are emotionally, physically, and mentally. Once we know where we stand, we can move toward self-management: creating strategies that help us maintain balance, set boundaries, and respond to life's demands in a healthy way.   Self-care also requires us to examine our priorities. What really matters to us, and how do we protect and nurture those values? As adults, it's our responsibility to care for what's most important—not just for others, but for ourselves. When we take care of our own needs, we have the energy, focus, and resilience to show up and do the work that matters, whether it's at home, in our careers, or in our communities.   Tune in for more on how self-care is not about escaping responsibilities, but rather how it's about embracing them fully, with the emotional and physical resources we need to succeed. It's adulting at its finest.

MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace breathlessly overdramatizes a secret recording of Justice Samuel Alito, in which he suggests we may not be able to 'split the difference' and compromise modern political philosophies in the United States, as she calls it an 'extraordinary development.' Is it, though? Also, a previously unpublicized video of then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi surfaces, showing her reacting in the moment to the unrest of January 6th, 2021 and admitting 'I take responsibility' for there not being more National Guard troops at the ready to stave off the storming of the Capitol building that day. Will the mainstream media even mention this, let alone show it?

Most of you listening know all about AGCO - they are a major farm machinery designer, manufacturer, and distributor, including tractors, combine harvesters, hay & forage machinery. This includes brands like Fendt, Massey Furgeson, Challenger, Valtra, Gleaner, and many others. They also have a growing grain and protein division which offers grain storage, seed processing, and protein production equipment. In Louisa's role as head of sustainability, she sets strategy for AGCO's sustainability programs and ESG which stands for environmental, social, and governance. It's a very hot topic especially among publicly traded companies, which AGCO is. Sustainability roles like Louisa's are unique, in that she is constantly engaging with all of the key stakeholders surrounding the business: customers, dealers, AGCO colleagues, and investors. It's also a role that requires her to be thinking much further out than most others. She says she's regularly thinking 10 years out or longer, which brings a very interesting perspective on the future of agriculture.  In today's episode, we talk about ESG and the interest of investors to know what AGCO is doing in terms of sustainability, where AGCO is focusing their efforts particularly on reducing emissions including scope 3 emissions which includes the footprint of their customers who use their products, future innovations in farm machinery, and her time in Africa where she held multiple roles with the company including Director of Distribution Development on the continent.

In this episode I ask some tough questions about our character and what current events reveals about the character of our nation and of our fellow citizens. The reason for the protest is justifiable however the riots, looting, death and destruction of private property should make us reflect on the motives, intents and excuses people make for turning violent and destructive.Where does the reform that is needed begin? Maybe Stephen Covey had the right idea when he stated, "Most of the great cultural shifts – ones that have built great organizations [and might I add nations and societies] that sustain long-term growth, prosperity and contribution to the world – started with the choice of one person. Regardless of the person’s position, these people first changed themselves from the inside out."Right now Character Matters more than one can imagine. Her parents - both very different and from different blended cultural backgrounds- instilled in her a sense of responsibility that came along with the privilege she was born into.  Swaady shares with us the inner process of deconditioning that we must go through in order to reconnect with our authentic selves, the earth and each other. By deeply questioning every one of our beliefs and values, we can clear space for the quiet voice of intuition to become louder, and to step into sacred leadership led by our intuition and our hearts. In this second part of a two-part special series I focus on the importance, and process, of finding meaning and purpose in life, as found in the book Man’s Search For Meaning, by Viktor Frankl. Frankl explains how responsibility to oneself and others (and to what life is asking of you) is a vital counterpart to freedom, a concept echoed by many present-day authors, including notable thought leaders like Jordan Peterson and Jocko Wilink. If you only listen to one of these two episodes on Frankl’s book, this is the one to listen to for sure, because we talk and reflect on the second section of the book which is where Frankl goes into detail about the actual process of finding meaning in life. My 15 year old son Joseph joined me for this second part of the series, and offers his generation’s unique perspective on this issue. We definitely added a lot of our own thoughts to what Frankl wrote about this topic, so I hope you enjoy as we discuss: Distinctions between Freud, Adler, and Frankl The importance of the pursuit of meaning in general (the will to meaning) How meaning is found in each and every moment What it means to answering life’s questions for each of us - not just challenges, but gifts as well If people aren’t motivated by money and power, then what does motivate them? How smiling more can make you happier Why is that men tend to have more issues with purpose and meaning? What does Peterson mean when he echoes Frankl’s views on how our “rights” are only half of the conversation - what about the responsibilities that come with those rights? What responsibilities might come with our rights as “freedom loving” Americans? What country might gift the US a statue of responsibility? Did Frankl in 1946 predict accurately that technological advancements in AI and robotics would lead to an increase in existential crises from a lack of meaning and purpose? What does it mean when a person in the Christian faith says their purpose is found in God? How spiritual disciplines fit into the daily practice of seeking purpose in faith What does it mean that we find out who we are by discovering who we are not? There’s no one particular abstract meaning of life - it is unique to each person Our invitation for Jocko Wilink to come on the show and change Joseph’s mind The three specific ways Frankl describes as paths to finding meaning What can be done to turn the tide on the lack of responsibility in society - if anything Links: Viktor Frankl’s Man’s Search for Meaning The TED Talk on smiling Joseph referred to Herzberg’s 2 factor theory (Motivation/Hygiene) for what truly motivates people The Statue of Responsibility prototype at UVU in Utah Jordan Peterson’s Self-Authoring suite Jordan Peterson’s 12 Rules For Living: An Antidote to Chaos The 4th Industrial Revolution: A Guardian article about whether a life lived with robots taking over our jobs is really worth living The authentic manhood program, originally taught by Robert Lewis in 2005, where he described a crisis of masculinity due to an unclear idea of what it means to be a man today (and included rejecting passivity as part of the solution) Benjamin Franklin’s exhortation to prayer Jocko Wilink’s Extreme Ownership: How US Navy Seals Lead and Win The great movie about the importance of outlook and attitude, The Lady in Number 6: Music Saved My Life

https://youtu.be/MdJVZm6ymvs 1 sam 16:1-13 the anointing of David as king As a kid- everyone wanted to ‘be the leader’ they think that adult leadership is the same You get to tell everyone what to do- but no- being the leader is RESPONSBILITY- are u ready? So you’re going to be king and a queen! It may not feel like it- but you’re going to be!2 Timothy 2:12 If we endure, We shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us.1 Corinthians 6:2 Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters?GENESIS 1:26 says have dominion Revelation 22:5 says “And they shall reign forever and ever”Revelation 3:21 says “To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne”Luke 22:29-30 “ 29 And I bestow upon you a kingdom, just as My Father bestowed one upon Me, 30 that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”Deuteronomy 17:18-20 READ 20 that his heart may not be lifted above his brethrenDaniel 7:18 But the saints of the Most High shall receive the kingdom, and possess the kingdom forever, even forever and ever.’1 Samuel 16:11 And Samuel said to Jesse, “Are all the young men here?” Then he said, “There remains yet the youngest, and there he is, keeping the sheep.”As you’re preparing to be a king- there’s a few things we can get from this story that I want you to focus on . You may not feel like you’re a king or queen- but you are- God is preparing you LETS GET INTO THIS STORY- You are not forgotten They are looking for the new king- 11 And Samuel said to Jesse, “Are all the young men here?”Samuel had looked at all the other brothers and was like- this al you got? Jesse the dad is like- oh yea- the young ruddy one- he’s out in the field with the sheep- but you wouldn’t want himForgotten even by his own father. His Father hadn’t even considered him for the job of kingLiving out with the sheep- its very easy to think that you have been forgottenVery easy to think that you are just going through the motions when you’re tending sheepHow many days did David wake up to go out to the field with the sheep and thought “what are my other brothers doing? This is a servants job, and here I am out there with the sheep”David may had been forgotten by his family- but he was not forgotten by God- God knew where he was, what he was doing. God knew exactly where he was. Preparing him to be KINGI don’t care who you are- but you want to feel validated and supported by your familyYou want them to be proud of you- you want them to support what you do and how you liveDavid said later in life Psalm 27:10 When my father and my mother forsake me, Then the Lord will take care of me.David understood- that the love of God from him and to him is the greatest satisfaction- God hasn’t forgot him. God remembered him when his own family forgot himMoses said to Joshua- Deut 31: 8 And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.”1 Kings 15:5 because David did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, and had not turned aside from anything that He commanded him all the days of his life, except in the matter of Uriah the Hittite. What does it mean to you?You may be tending the sheep in, and feel forgotten- but God has not forgot about youHe sees what you’re doing and knows where you are. It might FEEL like you’re forgotten but noMatt 10:30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. You are valuable. You were valuable enough for Jesus to come and die for you- and now- that you’re in Christ- God loves you and values you. He has not forgot about you! While you were still a sinner, God loved you, how much more so now that you are his child?Psa 56:8 You number my wanderings; Put my tears into Your bottle; Are they no...
