The DOGGZZONE welcomes back me, the resident clod. It's quiz time! What movie is made up of equal parts Kindergarten Cop, Cool As Ice, No Retreat No Surrender, Down To Earth, Only the Strong, Duets, Rush Hour, Rocky IV, Almost an Angel, starring an athletic alcoholic sex pest and funded by the D.A.R.E.program? If you answered, Seanbaby's 2003 mail order classic. "Hunk Along Chastity 3, Clap Slab's Revenge" - partial credit! The answer we were actually looking for is 1994's Kindergarten Ninja. Staring no one and featuring nothing... unless you're into montages of montages of ninja flavored slap fights. You are? Send a self addressed stamped envelope to- Oh. The ninja one. Yeah, just hit the play button.
Ever wonder what happened to Vanilla Ice, the white-boy hip-hop "artist" who for a brief, horrifying moment, was the best-selling hip-hop act in the world? Yeah, well, neither did Mike, but thanks to Jay, he's been forced to wade through "Rap-Era Elvis" lore by watching Cool as Ice—a 90s time capsule that should have stayed buried. Can the guys have a compelling discussion about a film that all agree should have been left in the past alongside Z. Cavarrici pants and I.O.U. sweatshirts? It's tough work, but the main review leads to an inspired countdown of the guys' Bottom Five Musicians Acting in Film, where Mike and Jay talk smack not only about The Beatles but also The Rolling Stones! After stirring up controversy with some of the best-selling recording artists in history, the guys dig into the mailbag, where some Eejits revisit last episode's Bottom Five childhood traumas. Then, as always, Mike locks, loads and fires the next terrible movie Jay will have to watch for the next episode. So, "drop the zero and get with the hero" by having a listen now!

How many new segments is too many? Is this episode laying the blueprint? And what does a cow wear to a wedding? We stampede through these questions and more as we watch Season 2, Episode 6 of Family Matters.Alex Diamond, David Kenny, and John McDaniel heard that the long-running network sitcom Family Matters ends with side character Steve Urkel going to space. New season, new format, and new us! What does that mean? We're onto some new bullshit in the form of 1991's Cool as Ice; a movie that Machine Gun Kelly probably unironically thinks is the coolest thing ever. There's no way to prove this statement, but we feel it in our hearts. Let's do this! Rudimentary raps from a ridiculous race-robbing cradle robber! Jacking a Jill's journal! Fucking for forgiveness! Floor-humping a female fresh from high school! Hopping a fence, harming a horse, and hurting a hottie! Flicking the finger water! Whack-head tried to play baseball with my home-boy's bike! Construction yard cassette tape kidnapping catalysts! Schlinging a schlong, and much, much more on this week's episode of The Worst Movie Ever Made! www.theworstmovieevermade.com

It's February, so that means it's time for the AIPT Movies podcast's “Shredruary” series! Where we cover movies that revolve around music or musicians! In this week's episode, Alex, Tim, and Matt discuss 2001's satirical musical comedy, Josie and the Pussycats!Endless product placement! A classic and catchy soundtrack that features Letters to Cleo's Kay Hanley and (we think) Matthew Sweet! A consistently funny movie that effortlessly bounces between witty, subversive moments and silly, slapstick comedy! Fun, creative direction from Can't Hardly Wait's Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont! A perfect cast that includes Rachael Leigh Cook, Rosario Dawson, Tara Reid, Parker Posey, Alan Cumming, Missi Pyle, possibly the greatest boy band of all time, Dujour, and the vocal talents of Mr. Moviefone! A misunderstood, ahead of its time gem - with a sweet message about being true to yourself and not getting caught in the cogs of consumerism - that has found the cult following it deserves despite its disappointing box office!In addition, Tim shares his spoiler-free thoughts on 1988's Alien Nation and the Oscar-winning cinematographer of Cool as Ice, while Alex talks about Shin Ultraman, Knight and Day, The Beekeeper, and Sniper G.R.I.T.!You can find AIPT Movies on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. Not going to lie, we went long on this one. So long, in fact, I had to take real action. I made the decision to cut our 'catch up' segment and get right into the movie - COOL AS ICE. Welcome to the latest BM:AD episode featuring our new number one fan, Brandon! Now Brandon used to work for Edward back in the day and was a part of the inspiration for this very podcast. He now works in the restaurant industry and is a very big fan of horrible movies. We begin by talking about where Brandon works and a television program called [The Bear], cocaine, [Uwe Boll], stupid YouTube things, Cinderella porn and foot juices. Jenn has been listening to a podcast about the Duggar family where a couple re-watches the shows that feature the Duggar family and then they talk about the Duggar family while they're watching the show about the Duggar family and Katie tells all about a new docu-series starring R.E.M. - about the Duggar family. Jenn and Katie had an exciting camping weekend where Katie wanted to (and got to) go ON A BOAT! This week's list is [Bad Movies Everyone Should Watch]. Brandon and Edward talk about the ancient origin of the Bubbles' Mushrooms podcast and some of their ideas about top 10 lists and the Princess Diaries. The Incredible Hulk loves Lees Famous Recipe Chicken, Sheryl Lee, Ang Lee, Lee High School and Bruce Lee. Edward's favorite movie is [Cool As Ice] or [Spice World]. Jenn tells us all about Rex Manning Day and Katie's big pick is, of course, The Hugga Bunch Movie (or Mrs. Winterbourne, whatever.) We rip through some other horrible favorites with fighter jets, abandoned trademarks, wiping with pine cones, being Chipwrecked and... Speed Racer? What are your favorite stupid movies? Let us know by emailing us at bubbmush@gmail.com, be sure to follow us on Instagram @bubbmush and tell your friends about the show! It's free and they might like it! Thanks to Brandon for joining us this week - enjoy the show :)

Dan and Brennan venture into a time when people thought Vanilla Ice was cool un-ironically, so an entire movie relied on his talent(?) to succeed. A story about forbidden love, casual breaking and entering, random dancing, and Dutch angles. Listen in as me and new guest, Ben, pull on our patchwork pants and overly embroidered jackets to revisit this abomination of a cinematic vehicle meant to launch Vanilla Ice into movie stardom. Luckily for society it was a spectacular failure. Directed by David Kellogg (Inspector Gadget, Lusty Liaisons II) and written by David Stenn (Girl 27, She Was Marked for Murder), the Washington Post called the film "a cross between an after-school special and MTV video," while TV Guide said the film's "premise is utterly insupportable and [Kellogg's] direction renders the choices flat." Did I watch the same movie? These reviews, though low on the Metacritic score, seem kind. This film was a dumpster fire of epic proportions, and I will die on that hill. It tells the story of a kind-of-a-jerk rapper named Johnny (Vanilla Ice) getting stuck in a small town and pursuing a local girl named Kathy (Kristin Minter, Home Alone) who is already dating a definite jerk named Nick (John Newton, Alive, Melrose Place). Ice, erm-I mean Johnny, ambles around the town chasing after the freshly-graduated from high school Kathy, while his crew deals with a kooky elderly couple who try to fix a broken motorcycle. There is random dancing, Ice rapping, a backstory involving witness protection, and a kidnapping. It's a bit of a roaming mess. Get stoned and watch this one. The film is currently available on Prime Video if you feel like burning some cash. Find and follow Ben on Instagram: @benschyan
Kathy: So, where are you from? Johnny: Around. Kathy: Around? Johnny: Yup-yup.
A new month means a new theme, and Ali and Rick are going to be spending July watching movies that tried to make actors out of musicians. Starting off the month, we already stretch the theme as we have to consider Vanilla Ice a musician first for this to make sense. A movie this cool requires a guest to break it down with us, so friend of the pod CJ offered to give insights on one of his favorite movies. How many crimes is Vanilla Ice committing? Why is Cat into him? Can motorcycles do all that? Find out on this week's episode of 30 Below.
Today I'm joined by bar owner, comedian and podcaster Stuart Wellington (@flophousecat on Twitter and IG) of The Flop House podcast, and we're talking about Vanilla Ice's attempt at movie stardom, COOL AS ICE. In this episode we talk about how this movie deserves a cult following, what an incredible creep Johnny is, the extremely 1991 styles and fashions present in the movie, death metal, and the shockingly not-as-bad-as-we'd-feared soundtrack. So drop that zero and get with the hero. And then listen to this episode with the hero. Or something. Our latest movie stars that tough guy rapper turned actor who is as cool as ice. We all know who we mean here - that's right, it's Vanilla Ice. He and his crew ride around on crotch rockets and cause mostly lighthearted trouble (except for the time that he almost killed his love interest in an attempt to impress her), until a bike malfunction has them staying at Pee-wee's Playhouse, where they dance around and make peanut butter-pickle-sardine-mustard-pineapple sandwiches. Vanilla Ice's "Johnny" keeps trying to impress the pretty straight A high school student of his dreams, and somehow, eventually succeeds. But it's a twisting, confusing, and hilariously bad road to the conclusion, full of bumbling criminals, 12-hour dates in the desert, and impromptu rap performances.

Looky looky at our black booky: this week Pop Screen is looking at an artefact of the utmost early '90sness, Vanilla Ice's first and only starring vehicle Cool As Ice. Deeply influenced by the teen rebel films of the 1950s and shot by Spielberg's future DoP Janusz Kaminski, these classy influences sit uncomfortably with a story in which Kristin Minter falls in love with the Iceman after he nearly gets her killed in a horse fall. This week, first-time host Jeff joins us to unpick the layers of this profound work of cinema, including its unexpectedly Malick-influenced romantic montage, its puzzling attitude towards the conflict of witness protection, and the clash of tones which leads to cartoon sound effects being dubbed over Ice's big action hero moment. We also discuss Vanilla Ice's brief time in the spotlight and long career tail, including his many reality TV appearances and the remarkable speed with which his record company overhauled his image into something more pop-friendly. Get ready - the Anaheim Ducks are set up to S.C.O.R.E. another goal! And this one's going to be a "win" for thousands of students. On March 2nd, the Ducks will host their all-virtual "First Flight Field Trip". This is a free event, available to classrooms worldwide. Jason Cooper, Manager of Fan Development Marketing for the Anaheim Ducks, says that, like previous onsite events such as "Light the Lamp", this presentation will be "as interactive as possible". Themed "Cool As Ice", the program will take third- to sixth-grade students through what science principles mean to the Ducks, when they're talking about the thermodynamics of ice. What makes the ice good for skating? How can they tell? And how can the students experience these principles at home? Jason says the Ducks are offering free resources--a workbook and a kit--for educators who register by January 31st. Here's the link. BUT--if you don't get to sign up for the resources by that deadline--you're still welcome to have your students log in on March 2nd and be a part of "Cool As Ice" , through the Ducks' webpage! Now--S.C.O.R.E.? This is an acronym for "Scholastic Curriculum of Recreation and Education". In an earlier interview, Jason shared the story of this unique educational program, of which "First Flight Field Trip" is just ONE feature! Jason previewed the upcoming "First Flight Field Trip", shared a look at the thermodynamics behind the considerations involved in "skate-able" ice, and offered a look ahead at the planned field trip for 2023. On this edition of Over Coffee®, we cover: How the Ducks have adapted their S.C.O.R.E. program since the pandemic; What participants will see, with this year's "First Flight Field Trip"; A look inside some of the science of ice; The specifics of one ice-scienfific principle; What's involved in the preparations for the Ducks' "First Flight Field Trip"; Some of the ways the pandemic has forced the Ducks to think more creatively as they plan their S.C.O.R.E. events; What Jason, as an education professional, has found most inspiring over the time he's been working with the "First Flight Field Trip" and S.C.O.R.E.; How you can get involved, if you would like to!; A preview of the 2023 "First Flight Field Trip", planned as an in=person event at Honda Center; What's next, for the S.C.O.R.E. program; AND, a brand-new way the Anaheim Ducks are interacting with students and their Orange County community1;

From the tenth month of 1991, we attempted once more to track down yet another hidden gem:In what is essentially Vanilla Ice's Purple Rain, the luminary rapper stars as freewheeling drifter Johnny Van Owen. When he arrives in a small town, Johnny is embroiled in suspense when his romantic interest's father is haunted by corrupt cops from his past. Will Johnny be able to help stop them before it's too late? He'll have to stay cool….Cool as Ice!Plus, there might just be a surprise buried within the heart of this episode, like the delicious center of a creme candy!
October 18th, 1991. Cool As Ice, the Vanilla Ice acting vehicle no one wanted, dropped into theaters to almost critical hatred. By the time of release, the oversaturation of Ice's skills (or lack there of) was reaching critical mass, causing a massive backlash to Ice's ascent to stardom. At the same time, Vanilla was dealing with court cases, terrible musical project and one very violent Suge Knight. From an onlooker's perspective, the young MC's time in the limelight was heading straight into a brick wall. One of the most unintentionally hilarious movies to ever be released about a white rapper chasing after a high school horse girl. Yes, this movie is horrible, but it's horrible in the best way possible. I'm a little disappointed in myself for having such a good time watching this and talking about it. So here it is - a stunningly accurate portrayal of the kind of guy a horse girl goes for. Cool as Ice!
