In this episode, Chrisha and Catherine catch up on what's been going on behind the scenes with each other, the writers' and actors' strikes and victories, the ongoing trash-fires at networks and streamers, and their gratitude to folks behind The Winchesters for giving fans a thoughtful and healing ending. The main part of the episode focuses on the various members of the Monster Club:Mary: Her similarities with the Akrida Queen's backstory and how her journey of healing led to different outcomes; her time in the portal and the impact of seeing all possible versions of herself; her decision to go with John at the end and the importance of Mary being the one to make that decision; and her journey from being trapped to living in freedom.John: His decision to address his anger and work on healing it; his state of being completely lost after he arrived home from Vietnam, and the importance of Dean and Henry's letter; the healing that's happened in his relationship with Millie; and his transition from running towards danger to running towards hope.Lata: Her immediate decision to put everything else aside to figure out how to help Ada; her strength/perceptiveness while under the control of Akrida Kyle; the way her attack on Joan complicates her pacifism; her importance in building community; & her journey from feeling less-than because of her pacifism to understanding her importance. Carlos: His immediate and ongoing Dean thirst; his voyage from needing to be the front man to being part of the band; his affection for Ada and the important role he played in stopping her from jumping the gun with the crystal; and his role in saving the day by figuring out how to bring Baby back out of the world between worlds.Millie: Her new communicative relationship with John; her continued strength, and the insight and help she brings as a mechanic to the Monster Club; and her care and concern for his relationship with Mary.Ada: The loss and restoration of her soul; the importance of her openness about the sacrifice the crystal requires; and the way the Monster Club rallies around her, supports her, and protects her in a way that we think she isn't used to.The Winchesters audio clip credits: The CWSupenatural audio clip credits: The CWMusic clip credits: "Exile" by Taylor SwiftFollow us on Twitter @TheFangirlBiz and on Bluesky @thefangirlbiz.bsky.socialJoin our Kofi Discord community at $1/month:https://ko-fi.com/thefangirlbiz/tiersSupport our podcast by buying our new merch: https://www.redbubble.com/people/thefangirlbiz/shopThanks for listening!
In this episode, Chrisha and Catherine delve into what they've affectionately termed "the red string": trying to figure out what all the hints and mysteries behind each episode are leading to. Topics include: What the HELL was Chuck doing onstage in the episode?; Dean's mysterious reappearance and its implications for the series; Jojo's Insta live and its implications for Destiel and queer Dean; The connections between this episode and Supernatural's "Last Call"; Alice in Wonderland themes; Lastly, the episode's music and its connection with themes from the show and fandom. We may have fooled you into thinking this podcast is about sorting fictional characters into Hogwarts houses, but really, this is a podcast about Supernatural. And we're finally done hiding it (we never hid it). The episode may not be called Sort of Supernatural, but it's BASICALLY THE SAME THING. Sort of The Winchesters, the Supernatural prequel! Thanks be to the Ackles' and Robbie Thompson, and god bless the sexy silence. These are all deep cuts; if you don't live your life by this dumb show you won't understand them, and that's ok. Get out while you still can, it's too late for us. ANYWAY, this week we sort John Winchester (not smug about his house at ALL), Mary Winchester, Carlos Cervantez and Lata Dar. Listen to this episode, it was as easy for us as breathing. When Rachel and I say we sort characters as a natural part of every day conversation, we REALLY mean that about Supernatural characters. We know them all personally and we're here to tell you about them. This Scooby gang is full of emotions houses and we love them all. RENEW THE SHOW, WE WANT A SEASON 2. BLESS.

In Part 2 of their 2-parter on The Winchesters' "Reflections," Chrisha and Catherine take out their red string and have fun trying to untangle the mess of what the heck is going on in the wider story. They look at look at the connections between the Akrida and Supernatural S7's Leviathan and delve further into differences between the two series: beyond the odd ghouls to the watchdogs left behind by the Men of Letters and the different way that magic seems to work. Yes, there is more talk about radio waves. Yes, they talk about the closet scene and the kiss scene and the reflections of Supernatural's "Despair." And they ponder the importance of Roxy's comment that "nothing of this Earth" can kill her. Famine. We're back to the Horsemen, the apocalypse, and learn some deep truths about Team Free Will. I think the most important takeaways from this episode are to remember that it was written and produced to come AFTER the episode that aired as 5.15 (Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid), and immediately before 5.16 Dark Side of the Moon. It makes so much more sense emotionally and for character continuity that way... thanks 2012 Winter Olympics for screwing it up lol. The surface level read of Dean and Cas's revelations in this one obscure a much deeper truth for both of them. Sam... is the most surface-level honest about his hunger. And it's all agonizing! Plus we learn some very painful things about John and Mary Winchester, and just how much Heaven meddled in their relationship. Which I find doubly fascinating now that we're watching The Winchesters. We'll talk about all of that and more, but there's also a lot of bonus material for this one, because I've talked about all of this before, as well. LINKS! It was another massive recording session for episode five of The Winchesters, "Legacy of a Mind," so this week Chrisha and Catherine are breaking it down into two different parts.Part 1 explores the Monster Club's character arcs in the episode and the themes of lies vs. honesty and hiding vs. being seen. Of special focus are Mary's exploration of her darkest moment, Ada's relationship with her son, Tony, and the many, many ways in which John deserves being told to f*** off.Part 2? Yeah, they're pulling out the red string. Karlee and Sandra debated on calling this episode “Mommy Issues” as the topic of discussion is the enigmatic character, Mary Winchester. She's been a source of loss and wanting for the boys. A ghostly influence and force over their lives for decades. And then, she was resurrected and thrown back into the mix during the final seasons. Needless to say, there are many, many thoughts. ~~~~~ We're taking you for a spin in Baby's backseat. In this full length episode, Chrisha and Catherine go into a more in-depth look at the upcoming series, The Winchesters. After their initial full on "nope" reaction to its first mention, they share what led them to give it a try. While still having reservations, they discuss what, exactly, from behind the scenes info, trailers, photo shoots, and posters, is making them excited enough to delve into a new season of podcasting. The pod squad are travelling back in time, to season 4 episode 3 of Supernatural-where Dean Winchester is ALSO travelling back in time to 1973-just one year post The Winchesters trailer. The squad is scanning this more contemporary look at John and Mary Winchester's lives in the 1970s for clues about what these two characters might be like, their lives, families, things we want to know more about, and things we definitely don't. And in true form, we get a little sidetracked, talk about Cas, music, and make up new characters like John's step-father. ITS WABBIT SEASON, as Da Binge Bois return to cover the 14th, THAT'S RIGHT WE HAVE WATCHED FOURTEEN SEASONS OF THIS PLEASE HELP, season of Supernatural with the ever so great Jensen Ackles & Jared Padelecki! This season decided that we were not allowed to enjoy any of the good parts that remained of the show as they choose to snuff out all the light of the series and make all of the fans shed collective tears of pain going into season 15. During the discussion of season 14, Da Bois talk about how Jack's development into the kid brother/child of the Winchester gamily was super fun to watch, and the tearing down of it was super not fun, and how the ending of the Mary Winchester arc, while excited that it happened, felt very lackluster compared to the build up. On Cinco De Mayo, we will return to conclude our Supernatural reviews with the 15th and final season of Supernatural! Be here for it or don't, because I'm not sure how many of us will actually show up to record that episode. As always thanks for watching, hit us up on social media for a shoutout! Are You Burger or Asparagus? (S2E20 - What is and What Should Never Be) This one's not as dark as O'Brien's mind prison, but it's pretty close. The monster is just a guy in a sweater with tattoos. Sam memorizes what page he's on before closing a book. Mary Winchester makes a mean sandwich. Dean gets to mow the lawn. Dean pleads with John's grave in the Garden of Gethsemane. When Dean's current character arc is paralleled to a zombie girl, we know there will be Feelings™. This boy has so much guilt-- blaming himself and his continued existence as an alive person on the planet for his father's death, blaming himself for everything Sam has been through since John's death because of that, and still unable to address the “if you can't save him, you'll have to kill him” order at all... Meanwhile Sam continues making choices for himself based on what he believes his dead father would've wanted, and of course, Dean just feels all the more guilty because of it. Oh, did we mention that all of this starts because Sam was insistent they visit a graveyard monument erected to Mary Winchester's memory? Yeah... Today Steph & Ally are talking about the penultimate episodes of season 12 of Supernatural. In episode 21, 'There's Something About Mary' we start off with a completely unnecessary death and we hate Arthur Ketch. Mary Winchester has reservations about the BMoL and those reservations, while warranted, end badly for Momma Winchester. In episode 22, 'Who We Are' we feel ALL of the emotions in what we think is a perfect episode. This episode does have everything, action, comedy, drama, suspense, and AMAZING ACTING. That's all we're telling you, you'll just have to listen to hear what the episode is about.
