Could Have Happened at Parkrun is a book of short stories written during Covid lockdown when parkruns... like many other activities… were cancelled. The uniting theme in all 12 stories is that they all play out at the Wycombe Rye parkrun in the UK. Each story is around a realistic scenario but is not a true story, and they come with some fun titles. Before each story there is a description of the origin of the story that sets the stage before you get into the story itself. The stories are:Run directors discuss the day's eventsThe volunteer coordinatorDarren and his short leadThe big thing in the cityMr. Shouty Man saves the dayEdward Ready - Steady EddyMartin the funnel managerThe visitor from New ZealandBobble and Trevor make friendsChristopher, the competitive man in the queuePetra and Johnathan manage the splitA parkrun tourist comes to Wycombe RyeSimon Jones retired from 3M and the corporate world in June 2019. Interview with Simon C. Dyakowski, President and CEO of GSP Resource Corp. (TSX-V:GSPR)This is a classic example of an exploration play for investors. It reveals the extremely high level of risk, the many difficulties management teams face, and the possibility of big returns.GSP Resources Corp. is a metals explorer, based in the "not top 10, but tier-1" mining jurisdiction of British Columbia, Canada. The company was focussing on its copper project, the iron, palladium and magnesium 'rich' Olivine Mountain Project, but it has since farmed it out, and optioned a past-producing copper mine, the Alwin Mine Project. The Alwin Mine Project lies in the shadow of the vast Highland Valley Copper project, which produced 101,000t of copper in 2018. The focus moving forward is Alwin Mine. However, with capital at such a premium right now, and with GSP Resource Corp. only holding C$300,000, it remains to be seen how the company can finance Alwin without needing to raise capital soon. Pre-COVID-19, Dyakowski saw June/July as a potential start date for drilling at Alwin Mine, but market conditions have obviously rendered any copper exploration untenable for the time being. After drilling at Olivine Mountain, GSP Resource Corp. clearly didn't get the results it wanted, or the results necessary to excite the market. Dyakowski explains what happened. It's not unusual in exploration, and a pivot in the business model is often the resolution to such difficulties. The company has farmed out Olivine Mountain to Full Metal Minerals in a 40:60 venture, should the company spend C$250,000 on the property, pay GSP C$250,000, and issue some shares. Does this modest option mean the problem is solved? Dyakowski is hoping the "well-financed" Full Metal Minerals can apply its expertise to bring potential to the surface, with a focus on palladium anomalies. Palladium is hot right now, so could this be helpful for GSP Resource Corp's financing efforts?New focus, Alwin Mine is a copper project that is more advanced in that it has produced within the last century, with an underground mine constructed in the 1960s leading to 3-years of production. The project was shut down and then reopened in the early 1980s, then shut down, reopened and shut down again in the 1990s. Can modern technologies and favourable copper prices help buck this disappointing trend? The historical data should certainly help, but how will GSP Resource Corp. finance it? The C$300,000 isn't a lot, but Dyakowski thinks that it is sufficient relative to the size of GSP Resource Corp. The cost of core drilling is around C$175 p/m, which would likely necessitate a small equity raise. The share structure is reasonable, will only 12M outstanding, so a raise could be feasible, even if the timing is far from ideal. Dyakwoski calls Alwin Mine low-risk and low-cost, but we heard this about Olivine Mountain. He insists that scout drilling was always going to carry more risk, but was this 100% clear to investors at the time? In hindsight, Dyakowski maintains he made the right decision to go for the bullseye with Olivine rather than farming it out straight away. What is the long term vision for creating value with Alwin Mine? Dyakowski hopes the Summer phase 1 drill program will deliver favorable results and solidify the copper potential of the resource. After this point, it comes down to the team managing finances effectively, favourable copper prices, and how well GSP Resource Corp. can position itself for a takeout. Is GSP Resource Corp. a buzzing fly in the face of surrounding majors, or can Alwin Mine provide copper investors will more growth than they might realise? As is always the case with exploration, only time will tell. What did you make of Simon C. Dyakowski? Interview with Simon C. Dyakowski, President and CEO of GSP Resource Corp. (TSX-V:GSPR).There are some small signs of promise with this story, but the company needs to work harder to tell the story to allow investors to make investment decisions. We will watch this space.GSP Resource Corporation is a recently listed venture-stage precious and base metals exploration vehicle. GSP Resource Corp.'s primary focus is on extracting the potential of the Olivine Mountain Massive Sulphides target in Southwestern British Columbia. The Olivine Mountain project is located in The Tulameen ultramafic complex.GSP Resource Corp. started the year with a share price of CA$0.26 and rose to a peak of CA$0.42 in late November 2019 before settling to today's price of CA$0.24. The company has a modest market cap of CA$1.67M. The management team has a mixed bag of experience. Dyakowski Jr has over ten years of corporate finance, corporate development, and capital markets advisory experience. His professional experience is rooted in equity research and equity sales coverage roles rather geology. This lack of specific experience may be problematic for some investors, despite Chairman, and father, Christopher I. Dyakowski's over 35 years of mineral exploration experience. The remainder of the team has vast business and financial experience, but once again, over reliant on Dyakowski Sr's availability and expertise.GSP Resource Corp. is pushing its unexplored asset as the incentive to invest. Investors have been buying into promising mineralisation results from preliminary drilling demonstrating copper and silver opportunities, but we are unsure as to the focus of the company; with the preliminary drilling programme, Asp 14, demonstrating contents of copper, gold and palladium and anomalous contents of platinum, nickel and cobalt, where does GSP's central focus lie? Investors need to see this for what it is, which is a small punt on a very early stage exploration project. Dyakowski states the company has a clear primary focus on copper, with the potential for nickel and PGMs. He pushes the quality of the asset as a unique opportunity to get involved with a rarely untapped resource: who knows what could lurk beneath in such a prestigious region? And that is what some investors will buy in to. Dyakowski Jr pays himself around CA$3,000 worth of shares per month. All partners have invested their own money to obtain their stake, and until value has been added for investors, the salary situation will remain unchanged we are told. The burn rate is c. CA$15,000 per month, again a low number, but there is not much happening at the moment. Drilling is funded from private placements, one of which was recently completed. Dyakowski Jr plans to continue moving the asset forward towards eventual production. That is some way off and a lot of dilution, drilling and luck between now and then. One last sign of encouragement is the hold situation for director's shares: it stands at an uncommon 36 months! The message is clear: if you climb about the GSP ship, the company directors won't have lifeboats either. They are all in.What did you make of Simon C. Dyakowski? Is GSP Resource Corp. any different to other junior copper companies? Are they focussed enough? Do they really know what they are doing? Your road map to this week's entertainment-themed podcast:00:34 Dancing with the Stars: The season kicked off this week with an appealing and promising cast of characters. Fingers crossed that it will continue that way! (Mentioned: the chat on Annie Barrett's blog)09:20 The Emmy Awards: We'll take more Sterling K. Brown, please, and fewer sketches that cut into his speaking time. (Mentioned: Catherine and Nicole discussing Big Little Lies on a previous Round 2.)21:15 The West Wing: In this one ("We Killed Yamamoto"), we'll take more Simon/C.J. and less Josh/Amy.27:49 Challenge Round: Grand Designs: Catherine challenged Terri to watch this British take on the home makeover, and she enjoyed it very much (but has some furnishing questions, if anyone's listening). For next time, Terri challenged Catherine to an episode of NCIS (season 6, episode 4, "Heartland") so we can get our Mark Harmon fix. That's because we won't be watching a new episode of The West Wing; we'll stick with the West Wing Weekly podcast special episode instead. Plus, Dancing with the Stars is on both Monday and Tuesday next week, so we'll come back to you on Wednesday with Round 2 coverage.UPDATE: Silly us! Turns out the West Wing Weekly special episode is the episode for the last episode of season 3, "Posse Comitatus." So we'll be watching that episode too, and getting a double dose of Mark Harmon. Which is just fine with us.For quotes, archives, and more, visit us at http://parentingroundabout.com.
Your road map to this week's entertainment-themed podcast:00:40 Dancing with the Stars: We preview the stars (or "stars") who'll appear this season. We'll be watching, so check back every Tuesday for our recap.07:55 John from Cincinnati: The last two episodes meant plenty of surfing, levitation, f-bombs, and general weirdness ... but not quite a satisfying finish to this series, at least for Catherine.13:30 The West Wing: In "The Black Vera Wang," Sam makes a dumb move and Donna is out $200. But at least we have the Simon-C.J. rom-com to enjoy.22:56 Challenge Round: Pushing Daisies: After watching Amelie (last week's challenge), Terri picked Pushing Daisies as a perfect follow-up. It's delightfully charming and quirky, and there's pie! After failing to tempt Terri with the audiobooks of Harry Potter (featuring Daisies narrator Jim Dale as the reader) for our next challenge, Catherine selected Grand Designs on Netflix instead (season 11, episode 1, "South Yorkshire"). Next week, we'll cover that, along with the DWTS premiere, The West Wing's "We Killed Yamamoto," and the Emmy Awards! For quotes, archives, and more, visit us at http://parentingroundabout.com.
