Stories of travel, staying fit, parenting and there's a bit of a love story too...the Potts family

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 3, 2021 50:49

On the topic of travel, as we are all staying put and unable to get around as we once usually would have, in this episode I am joined by the Potts family from Leeds. I thought it would be nice explore the Potts family's travel bug, where it comes from and learn about their time living in Perth, Australia and what they did while there. Adventures are fun at the best of times and I love the sound of a good old family adventure! What is absolutely clear currently is that we, well not all of us, but most of us don't have the quick and easy pleasure of travelling like we used to. Even though it's not ideal as we're so used to living in a world where everything is so close by I do feel and hope that there are significant benefits to staying put as it reduces aviation pollution levels and lets the earth have a breather. So while we do our bit to observe, or not to observe lockdown, the one thing we can definitely do is to think back, reminisce and remind ourselves of all the memories we've made while travelling. In this conversation I ask the Potts family many questions and now on reflection I know there were so many things I'd like to ask! We talk about living abroad, itchy feet and travelling, being sporty and fit, the ups and downs of moving and living abroad and what they all learned about themselves and each other. What also started being uncovered is a bit of a love story. Now, I am a sucker for a good love story! It's a story of connection between two people which transcends culture, background and race. But the lived reality shines a light on the darker side of the lack of acceptance. It becomes apparent when hearing my guests, that not everyone really sees the value of each of us as humans.  The limitations of our belief systems means that there are still many hangups about cross cultural relationships and even though now things might be changing there is still headway to be made. I am sure you will enjoy hearing the Potts family. Remember to leave your feedback, reviews and suggestions on social media posts and on podcast platforms including Apple Podcasts. It's not muscle conditioning or computer programming as we know it, but it's  all about the social conditioning of your mind that takes us, you and me away from what is our absolute inner truth. Have you felt like you have lost your purpose or your zazzle lately? Conditioning could be one of the reasons....This episode is a general look at everything you and me have been told to believe, exactly what we should be doing, how we should to live,  how we do not need to live and everything else that truly results in an outwardly version of 'happiness'. In life we're “schooled” into believing that you find your path and you stick to it. But that's not true. You know that, as much as I do. You are not just one aspect or one avatar in life and how you explore all of these different avenues or manifestations should be done with a huge level of curiosity! My guest in this episode is a seriously curious soul. Legacy and authenticity are so important to him. I am delighted to be joined by Atif Khan.  He transformed his mindset and his physical self and has gone from being overweight to becoming a fitness model.  In this powerful transformation conversation, Atif shares that moment when tragedy struck. The depth of the pain where he served a year in prison for a driving offence that resulted in the unfortunate and untimely death of his best friend. He opens up about this experience and how he has learned to use the learning from this difficult time for deep reflection, personal growth and to improve his life. From the darkness, there comes light and Atif's dedication to his friend is a beacon of that light.  Facing death in so many direct ways has really made Atif think clearly about what he wants to be remembered for and what his life's legacy is going to be. Guest: Atif Khan Interviewer and host: Urmi Raval Sound Editor: Maja Pronko   Support the show

Moving 2,000 miles away from home during a pandemic was a game changer for my guest in this episode. Mike, a student now living in Central Texas who is originally from Idaho,  shares his journey around mental health challenges, events that changed his perspective and gives some insight into hazing that is now becoming less prevalent in fraternities and sororities in the American university education system. Hazing hit the headlines previously due to some high profile deaths and sexual assault cases that shone a spotlight into the extreme behaviours that students groups were taking part in just to fit into a group. In this exploration Mike speaks about his own personal experiences of hazing and the impact. He says, "Why would someone who is a really good person join an organisation where they would encounter this?"Adding "18 to 21 years olds are taking a stance against this and we're going to hold each other accountable."  As Mike reflects on his experience he explains that he stayed in the fraternity just to support his friends and as he moved towards getting clarity through reflection, he realised that a lot needed to change in the structures that are age old institutions and he welcomed that fact that change is happening, albeit a little slow. Mike also shares three books that have had an impact on his thinking, his creative outlets and how he feels about lockdown life, the pandemic, moving away from home and how he has used this time to reflect on many aspects in his life that have shaped his perspective. Guest: Mike BivensInterviewer and host: Urmi Raval Sound Editor: Maja Pronko   Support the show (https://www.buymeacoffee.com/eternalparadigm)

Welcome to the second episode of the Transformation Series. This episode is an exploration of meditation as a transformative practice. I discovered meditation about 18 years ago and have since had an on and off relationship with it. I practice yogic breathing principles as well as various types of meditative practice to help not only with stress, anxiety and with my life long affliction with depression. But the value has been significant in connecting me to my body and to strengthen my connection to me. I am joined by two amazing fellow podcasters who have both got a transformative story to tell. Author and podcast expert Anthony Nwaneri and Trish the Dish, host and creator of the brilliant podcast Gen X Voice joined me on this exploration. Anthony started his journey in meditation as a transformative practice in April 2020 and Trish who has a wealth of knowledge and experiences has used meditation for the last 27 years to help her navigate life. Meditation has many health benefits that have now been backed up by scientific research. It takes practice, perseverance, forgiveness and a little discipline. You will hear me say medication instead of meditation a few times! What meditation has allowed me to do has been incredibly helpful to me. You'll hear more about Trish and Anthony's experiences too, which are powerful and ultimately these are lived realities. Remember to subscribe to Eternal Paradigm. Guests: Trish the Dish & Anthony NwaneriInterviewer and host: Urmi Raval Sound Editor: Maja Pronko   Support the show

The yoga teacher shares her views and believes that anyone who feels that they have arrived at a place where they have learned all yogic wisdom may need to take a step back and rethink this, she says, "Even though I have been teaching, I have not arrived."Rina's story is a lived upheaval where an array of physical manifestations in the form of body trauma showed her that she was not listening to her true calling, and how these events opened up new doorways for her to encounter life in a familiar yet totally unfamiliar footing. Why was this happening? It was then, in the midst of this dense fog while attempting to make sense of something which could only seem totally nonsensical that Amanda recalled a conversation. Just a few days earlier Harrison said he was going to stop breathing and die.  Four days later, it was the week of Thanksgiving in America, and Harrison unexpectedly and suddenly choked. There was a logical medical explanation for this untimely death.  But how could the dramatic impact of losing her child begin to make any sense?  How will life carry on? Is there really life after Harrison?
