This was never going to be a glamorous window, but certainly few would have expected such a twist. With Aston Villa hit by a cluster of midfield injuries at the worst possible time, this transfer catch-up looks at the merit of the triple signings of former players, that were originally signed by Dean Smith. Are we upgrading? Gambling? Or is it just damage limitation? The conversation centres on the loss of Kamara, Tielemans, and McGinn and why that trio underpins almost everything Villa do well. Defensive stability. Control. Goal contributions. Take all three out and you are not tweaking a system, you are protecting one. That context frames the return of Douglas Luiz, the intrigue around Tammy Abraham, and the pragmatic reality behind Leon Bailey's situation. None are presented as silver bullets. All are discussed as players at career crossroads, arriving not to transform Villa but to stabilise them. The sentimentality that the trio brings makes the signings a cut above a punt on an unknown, and all three have proven already they can do a job in claret and blue.UTVGet a Great NordVPN DealGet a cracking deal on NordVPN with four months FREE & a 30 days money-back guarantee here: nordvpn.com/momsGET AD-FREE SHOWS and JOIN MATCH CLUBGet ad-free shows and extra shows, and join My Old Man Said's 24/7 Villa community, Match Club. For more details and to become a member, click here: Become a MOMS MemberJoin the show's listener facebook group The Mad Few.Credits:David Michael - @myoldmansaid Chris Budd - @BUDD_musicPhillip Shaw - @prsgameMusic production & creation - David MichaelMy Old Man Said - https://www.myoldmansaid.comThis Podcast has been created and uploaded by My Old Man Said. Click Here: https://forestfantv.com/ The January window is entering its final straight, and things are moving at lightning speed at the City Ground! David Ornstein has dropped a major bombshell reporting that Nottingham Forest have officially submitted a £35 million bid for Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta. The Frenchman is reportedly keen on a move to the East Midlands as he looks for a fresh challenge, and with personal terms not expected to be an issue, this one could move quickly. Wolfie breaks down the likelihood of this deal crossing the line before the deadline, especially with the added spice of Forest facing Palace this Sunday. Is Mateta the clinical finisher Sean Dyche needs to guarantee our safety? In a shocking twist, we also have significant updates on Douglas Luiz's future. Reports from Fabrizio Romano and Sky Sports suggest a "Here We Go" agreement is in place for Luiz to return to Aston Villa on loan with an option to buy, effectively cutting his spell at Forest short. It's been a frustrating time for the Brazilian at the City Ground, and with Unai Emery facing a midfield injury crisis, the move seems to suit all parties. We're also diving into the surprise links to Brighton captain Lewis Dunk. We want to hear from you in the comments—how do you feel about Douglas Luiz heading back to Villa Park? Is Mateta the "statement" signing we need, or should we be looking at other targets like Jørgen Strand Larsen? And what do you make of the Lewis Dunk rumours—is he exactly the kind of Premier League experience we need alongside Murillo? Can Forest build on the 0-0 draw with Arsenal and confirm qualification in the Europa League? ⚽Football Prizes⚽ MASSIVE GIVEAWAY!: https://footballprizes.co.uk/club-competitions/nottingham-forest/ Nottingham Forest head to the Estádio Municipal de Braga this Thursday with a massive opportunity to break into the Europa League top eight! After a resilient 0-0 draw against Arsenal, Sean Dyche has his side looking more organized than ever, and a win in Portugal could all but secure an automatic spot in the Round of 16. Wolfie breaks down the tactical battle ahead as we face a Braga side that currently sits two points above us in the table. While Braga have been impressive in Europe this season, they'll be without their suspended top scorer Rodrigo Zalazar—could this be the perfect time for the Tricky Trees to strike and make European history? The big talking point for this trip is the starting XI, with several key men like Ola Aina and Omari Hutchinson ineligible for the Europa League squad. With Chris Wood still sidelined, all eyes are on Igor Jesus to continue his "cup specialist" form, having already bagged four goals in this competition. The midfield selection remains the biggest headache for Dyche: will he recall Douglas Luiz to provide that Brazilian flair and control, or will the grit and leadership of Ryan Yates be preferred to combat Braga's technical midfield? We also look at the defensive reshuffle, with Nicolo Savona expected to deputize at right-back in what will be a hostile environment. This is arguably our biggest game of the season so far, and we want to know what you're thinking in the comments! Should Dyche go for the "double pivot" of Sangaré and Anderson, or is it time for Douglas Luiz to show why he belongs in the starting XI? Can Igor Jesus continue his incredible European goal-scoring run? Let us know your score predictions and who gets your vote for the starting midfield—let's keep the European dream alive! #nffc #braga #europaleague Learn more about your ad choices. Nottingham Forest fans appear to be becoming increasingly divided over the future of manager Sean Dyche after a run of one win in five Premier League games and elimination from the FA Cup. The anger comes from not just results but also performances and the style of play. What should fans expect from Dyche given the terrible scenario he inherited with Forest in the relegation after the Ange Postecoglou disaster? Could he be sacked before the end of the season? Would that be a mad gamble? Will conversations over his future take place at the end of the season? Or should he get a pre-season regardless if he keeps Forest up? We'll discuss that, as well as his interview after the Wrexham game when he sharply criticised players who came into the team. Then there are question marks over the long term futures of the likes of James McAtee and Douglas Luiz if Forest secure their short term goal of staying up. Matt Davies is joined by Michael Temple and Reds legend Garry Birtles to reflect on the Wrexham game and look ahead to the return of Ibrahim Sangare. #nffc #nottinghamforest

Wolfie looks at the latest transfer news regarding Nottingham Forest this January window! Follow FFTV on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/officialfftv/ The January transfer window is heating up at the City Ground, and the biggest talking point is the future of Douglas Luiz. Despite arriving with massive expectations, reports from Italy suggest that Juventus are considering an early recall for the Brazilian midfielder this month. With Luiz struggling to cement a regular starting spot under Sean Dyche and the club seemingly hesitant to trigger his £25m permanent move. Wolfie breaks down the "trigger clause" drama and asks whether sending him back is a smart financial move or a massive risk to our midfield depth. In terms of incomings, the search for a new talisman has led Forest to Molineux, with Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen heavily linked with a move to the City Ground. With Chris Wood sidelined following knee surgery and the team struggling for consistent goals, Dyche is reportedly desperate for a physical presence who can lead the line. Strand Larsen fits the profile of a "Dyche striker" perfectly—standing at 6'4" with a proven work rate—but with Wolves slap-bang in a relegation battle and slapping a £40m price tag on the Norwegian, is he worth the premium? As we move deeper into the window, the pressure is on the recruitment team to ensure the squad is balanced for both Premier League survival and the upcoming Europa League knockout stages. Beyond the headlines, we'll be looking at other names on the four-man shortlist, including Youssef En-Nesyri, and what these moves mean for the future of players like Dilane Bakwa and James McAtee. Drop your thoughts in the comments: should we let Douglas Luiz go back to Italy, and is Strand Larsen the man to fire us to safety? After a crucial win against West Ham can Forest back it up with a win in the FA Cup? ⚽Football Prizes⚽ MASSIVE GIVEAWAY!: https://footballprizes.co.uk/club-competitions/nottingham-forest/ Wolfie is back to preview a massive Friday night under the lights as Nottingham Forest travel to the Racecourse Ground to face Wrexham in the FA Cup Third Round! Coming off the back of that vital "ugly" win against West Ham, Sean Dyche faces a major selection headache. With a heavy festive period behind us and a relegation battle still looming in the Premier League, how much will the boss rotate? We'll be looking at the expected line-up, which first-team stars are likely to get a well-earned rest, and whether the Reds have the squad depth to avoid an upset against a Wrexham side that will be well-up for the fight. One of the biggest talking points of the week is the situation surrounding Douglas Luiz. Reports suggest that his permanent transfer from Juventus is tied to a specific "games played" trigger clause—but does the FA Cup count toward that total? Wolfie dives into the contract management at the City Ground and asks whether we'll see the Brazilian maestro start, or if Dyche will protect the club's finances by keeping him on the bench. It's a high-stakes game of contract chess that could dictate our summer transfer business before January is even over! Finally, we're asking the big question: where does the FA Cup actually sit on Forest's priority list? Wolfie dissects yet another defeat for Ange Postecoglou and Forest! To Buy Wolfie A Coffee! Click Here: https://buymeacoffee.com/forestfantv Wolfie dissects this frustrating Premier League defeat at St James' Park on Sunday afternoon, with Postecoglou's Reds now winless in seven. Bruno Guimarães scored in the 58th minute, and new signing Nick Woltemade added late on second with a penalty for a 2-0 Newcastle win—Forest managed just 0.27 xG, raising doubts about Ange's defensive shift from his usual Angeball flair, with neither seem to be working right now. Elliot Anderson's penalty concession—fouling his ex-teammate Guimarães—highlighted the irony of facing his boyhood club, while Chris Wood and Morgan Gibbs-White toiled without service. Injuries to Murillo, Douglas Luiz, Ola Aina and Zinchenko forced makeshift changes, but the result was the same: a toothless display that echoed recent woes, with Forest now 17th and staring down the barrel of relegation fears. Will Ange be sacked during the international break, with Evangelos Marinakis' patience thinning amid unrest rumours and zero wins? Despite a minor fightback with goals from Ndoye and Wood, defensive lapses left the Reds winless in six games under Ange Postecoglou—Wolfie breaks down the key moments, from missed chances to the Danish side's clinical edge, leaving fans stunned on this historic night. The burning question now is whether it's already time for Ange to go, with the loss exposing his high-risk Angeball style as Forest conceded three at home despite dominating possession—can this attacking philosophy survive another setback, or has the patience of Evangelos Marinakis worn thin? With Forest sitting 15th and Sunderland impressively seventh with eight points from five games, this fixture is a must-not-miss—Wolfie breaks down the stakes, from Angeball's potential to shine under the lights to the Black Cats' strong second-half scoring threat that could test the Reds' resolve. Wolfie dives into his expected team lineup, weighing who should start for the Reds: Igor Jesus looks guaranteed to lead the line after his stunning brace in the 2-2 Europa League draw against Real Betis, marking Forest's first European goals in 30 years and putting him ahead of Chris Wood for now. Midfield maestro Morgan Gibbs-White could pull the strings, with Douglas Luiz anchoring, but the big question is the defence—will Murillo be back fit after recovering well from his knock against Arsenal, boosting the backline alongside Morato?
