The conversation also explores why animation is a critical next step in reaching younger, global audiences and how leaders can build healthy, high-performing teams by balancing vision, patience, and trust. Ultimately, Josh points leaders back to dependence on Jesus as the foundation for lasting impact. Welcome to Episode 160 of the Leaders in Living Rooms Podcast with Sean Morgan.
Welcome to a new episode of Spark of Awareness.I've been away for a few weeks, integrating everything that happened over the past months. Many positive changes took place, but integration takes time. Sometimes, making priorities means letting go and accepting that we do not always have control — a theme I'll explore throughout this series. In this series, I'm diving into the six human needs and their shadow expressions in leadership. The framework of the six human needs appears across several psychology and coaching work. You may know it through Tony Robbins' work, but there are many models exploring human motivation and behavior: self-determination theory, Maslow's hierarchy of needs, and others.I'm always interested in examining how humans function through different lenses. What I find valuable about the six human needs model is its ability to reveal our patterns and shadows. The purpose of this reflection is cultivating self-awareness. Self-awareness allows us to become more conscious of what we do, how we think, and ultimately, how we act.The six human needs are:* Certainty* Variety / Uncertainty* Significance* Love and Connection* Growth* ContributionEach episode in this series explores one of these needs through the lens of leadership and self-awareness. Today, I'm focusing on the first: the need for certainty. The Need for Certainty as the Need for ControlThe need for certainty is highly present in business and leadership. If I had to translate certainty into practical leadership behavior, I would call it the need for control. When the need for certainty becomes dominant, it often turns into an excessive focus on control. In organizations, this pattern appears frequently. We try to control outcomes. We seek certainty around success. We want guarantees that we will meet our targets, grow, survive, or secure the future. This creates pressure — pressure from leadership to control markets, despite the reality that markets cannot be controlled. It shows up as controlling employees, peers, or outcomes. It can manifest as manipulation, increased dependency on systems or people, and a loss of sovereignty. The need for certainty itself is not wrong. All human needs are valid. The problem emerges when a need becomes unexamined and overextended. At that point, it turns into a shadow — a blocker to growth, personal development, and consciousness. The Shadow Side of CertaintyThe shadow of certainty is an excessive attachment to control, safety, and predictability. We want every action we take today to guarantee future success. We want certainty that effort will produce the desired outcome.Unfortunately, reality does not work that way.Effort increases probability, but it does not guarantee results — especially in business.Startup success rates alone remind us of this reality. This overinvestment in certainty often extends to teams and relationships. Leaders may try to control employees to ensure they stay forever. Similar patterns appear in personal relationships: controlling someone to prevent them from leaving, or to obtain something from them. But controlling the market, outcomes, or other people is ultimately an illusion.People do what they want to do. They often act according to their own motivations, not according to our expectations.Recognizing this is an important reminder: much of what we try to control is beyond our control. The Reinforcing Cycle of ControlThe need for certainty easily becomes a reinforcing loop. When control fails, we often respond by trying to create stronger mechanisms of control: more contracts, more legal protections, more planning, tighter agreements, reduced freedom. The question becomes:Do you notice yourself forcing guarantees in order to feel in control? The path forward is not stronger control. It is learning to release control. It is surrender.Learning to SurrenderI speak from personal experience here. The need for certainty was deeply present in my earlier life. Certainty represented safety. I wanted assurance that no one would harm me, that there would be financial runway, that my salary would keep me safe.Working in the games industry taught me otherwise. It has been an incredible journey, but also one filled with uncertainty.Teams closed. People left. Expected numbers did not materialize. I left companies I had not planned to leave.Over time, I learned — often the hard way — that there is very little I truly control.Practicing Not KnowingIf you recognize yourself clinging to certainty, especially when it prevents growth, the practice is simple, though not easy:Practice not knowing. What does it feel like, in your body, to let go of control little by little? For me, releasing control created anxiety and stress. It became a gradual practice: letting go a little more, then a little more again. What can you release and discover that nothing catastrophic happens when you stop controlling? At minimum, your body often feels different — less contracted, less tense, less exhausted.Because certainty and control create physical contraction. They create tension, fatigue, and when sustained long enough, chronic symptoms. What Can You Actually Control? This brings me back to stoicism.Stoic practice reminds us that we control very little outside ourselves. What we can influence are our thoughts, our perceptions, and the actions that arise from them. How do you interpret events? How do you speak to yourself?Negative self-talk tends to generate actions that reinforce negative beliefs. A different interpretation creates different possibilities for action.Your perception of a situation is something you can work with.Acceptance as a Leadership PracticeAnother practice for those heavily attached to control is acceptance.Acceptance of what is.When someone does not do what you want, when reality unfolds differently than expected — can you sit with it?Can you be with your frustration? This has been an important practice in my own life.Because my pattern was certainty, much of my work involved becoming familiar with anxiety, uncertainty, and not knowing.Learning that it is safe not to know.Because trying to know everything is largely an illusion. It rarely changes the outcome. What changes is your internal state: you feel clearer, calmer, and more grounded in your body.Closing ReflectionTo summarize:Everyone has a need for certainty. In its shadow form, certainty becomes an excessive need for control and predictability. The invitation is to practice not knowing. To move forward without guaranteed outcomes. To discover what happens when you continue walking your path without certainty.A few years ago, I did not know I would become a coach.I did not try to force the answer.I focused on learning, improving my craft, listening to the market, understanding what people needed, and following the current of life.Today, I'm in the right place. But arriving here required surrender. So the question I leave with you is:How can you surrender a little more to not having control? Thanks for reading Rise and Play! We go deep on somatic techniques for releasing stress through the body, the dangerous trap of becoming too passive with self-improvement and manifestation, why comparison culture on social media is making entrepreneurs anxious and broke, and why the real shift happens the moment you stop shaming yourself and accept that you're already okay right now. JOIN SHERI HORN HASAN FOR THIS WEEK'S PODCAST @ https://www.karmicevolution.com/astrologically-speaking which drops today May 1!CH-CH-CH-CH-CHANGES, TURN & FACE THE STRANGE CH-CH-CHANGES We know all Full Moons are when the Moon casts the light of the Sun directly back onto itself, thus revealing to the Sun its archetypal shadow side. In this case, today's May 1 Scorpio Full Moon, which occurs when the 11'21” Scorpio Moon exact opposes the 11'21” Taurus Sun at 10:23 am PT & 1:23 pm ET on May 1, we're being advised to let go of Taurus's archetypal shadows. And those revolve around our tendency to stay stuck in the past, as the Venus-ruled Taurus's shadow is known to be its stubborn resistance to change, & its attachment to its creature comforts—especially related to its value of physical & material resources. However, let's remember first that this Scorpio Full Moon is part of this month's longer lunar cycle which began with the Aries New Moon on April 17. And that at that time both the Moon & Sun were conjoined in Aries with wounded healer Chiron & dwarf planet of chaos, strife, & discord, Eris. This told us that our monthly mission was to plant seeds that lead to healing our wounded Aries energy. This podcast touches on how a wounded Mars-ruled Aries shadow is that it looks a lot like Libra archetypal energy: Indecisive &/or passive aggressive. This has clearly played out in American politics given the fact that by the first quarter lunar square of the Leo Moon to the Taurus Sun on April 23--just after the Venus/Uranus conjunction at 29'59” Taurus—Congress was still in limbo concerning funding the Department of Homeland Security (DHS.)No surprise then, that as we approached this Scorpio Full Moon, the House finally let go of its stubborn resistance & passed the Senate's March version of this funding bill—which excludes funding ICE & CBP—on April 30. It was the stubbornness of both sides of the aisle that left TSA, FEMA, the U.S. Coast Guard, the Secret Service, and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) unfunded for 76 days since February 14. Perhaps it's no coincidence that Saturn had reentered Mars-ruled Aries February 13, indicating the kind of “banging one's head against the wall” frustration felt by both Congressional Democrats & Republicans since. Now the GOP majority-ruled Congress still has to take up a separate reconciliation bill to pass any funding for ICE & CBP, which Democrats vehemently oppose without some major changes to those agencies. This is one example of the Scorpio Full Moon's waxing influence on moving the nation out of limbo and into some kind of motivated action--the wound highlighted at the Aries New Moon conjunct Chiron & Eris. However, we've still got a long way to go when it comes to the U.S./Israeli waged war on Iran, as Congress continues to waffle on passing the War Powers Resolution Act codifying President Trump's ability to wage war without Congressional consent. This Act, passed in 1973 as a direct result of then President Richard Nixon's U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War without congressional approval—& despite many Americans' opposition—illustrates the resistance of this Administration to adhering to both past law & the will of the people.SUPREME COURT GUTS VOTING RIGHTS ACT, RETURNING US TO VALUES OF THE PAST But first, America has an even bigger internal problem that's related to its elections. On April 29, the Supreme Court took a step backward leaving us stuck in values of the past (Taurus Sun) that have already been proven not only unfair but that also position the U.S. even more firmly against the natural evolutionary process (Scorpio Moon.)And the latter is exactly what this Scorpio Full Moon is trying to tell us: That resisting change—by returning us to the values of the past such as the days of Jim Crow—is directly anathema to adapting to society's more evolved values now.The negative side of Taurus doesn't like change because it values its creature comforts. This archetype sees no benefit in changing its current way of life—where the American population is majority white—to accept adapting to the evolutionary trajectory it's on now given the more recent changes in population statistics. This podcast explores how the U.S. Census Bureau—between 2010 & now—has changed its definition of “white” & thus relegated a shift in categorizing more of the Hispanic & Latino population as “non-white.”A large part of what this Scorpio Full Moon is trying to tell us here—given that the Supreme Court has now struck down any state electoral maps that insure that black & minority majority districts have fair representation—is that this impedes U.S. adaptation to Pluto-ruled Scorpio's desire for change.PLUTO'S STATION RETROGRADE MAY 6 DREDGES UP ESSENTIAL TRUTHS THAT PRESERVE THE INTEGRITY OF THE SOULPluto's retrograde station occurs at 5'31” Aquarius on May 6 when the god of the underworld will plumb the depths of our subconscious from then until he's once again direct at 3'04” Aquarius on October 15.Pluto transits make it impossible not to be honest, as Jungian astrologer Erin Sullivan explains in her book “Planetary Retrogrades, Traversing the Inner Landscape.” It's there she notes that “Plutonian veracity has little to do with day-to-day honesty, but deals only with essential truth, life & death matters, the kind of truth that preserves the integrity of the soul. “It is part of the contract with Pluto, it seems” Sullivan continues, “that if one faces oneself willingly & unflinchingly, the reward is an unshakable integrity.“When Pluto undergoes its retrograde cycles”—particularly if it repeats its contact with a natal planet or angle—“it dredges deeper & deeper into the resources of the unconscious, bringing to light the most secluded aspects of one's inner nature. “The process of loosening firmly entrenched & potentially annihilating characteristics in the depth of the psyche is active primarily during the retrograde period,” says Sullivan. It's in the “rest phase of the transit [that] we relax the hold on the repressive function & allow transformation to occur,” she explains. When Pluto's retrograde is part of a transit to a specific point in the natal chart, “poisonous aspects of oneself gather together silently & secretly, to emerge for elimination at the direct cycles,” she concludes. That makes this next six month period the perfect time to take Sullivan's advice as the U.S. undergoes the longer-term evolutionary changes inherent in the already triggered U.S. Pluto return.PLUTO RETROGRADE PLUS URANUS NOW IN GEMINI UNTIL 2033: RESISTANCE TO CHANGE IS FUTILEWhat's become clear now at this Scorpio Full Moon lunation, which is the apex of the Aries New Moon monthly cycle begun on April 17, is that there can be no indecisiveness when it comes to the evolutionary process of adaptation to long-term change. This podcast quotes astrologer Lynn Bell's OPA article titled “The Wake Up Call” which describes the longer term potential for change given Uranus's recent reentrance into Gemini from April 25 until 2033.Given the recent Supreme Court mandated shift in policy related to U.S. voting rights, it seems clear that what we need to wake up to now is how we must fight the overturning & denial of changes made by this nation since its inception. Uranus (change) in Gemini—which represents “siblings” & local neighborhood & community environment, among other things--has already brought sudden change to our local areas through the Trump Administration's harsh racist tactics designed to purge this nation of those it deems “foreigners.” Many of whom are our family members, neighbors, employees, & coworkers. This is on top of the fact that the Supreme Court already ruled that women are not equal to men in terms of bodily autonomy in its infamous Dobbs decision four years ago already since June 24, 2022. This thus returned us to the misogyny of the original Constitution's “all men”—but not all women—are created equal, in clear disregard for society's gladly accepted changed values since.Meanwhile, Pluto's shorter retrograde in Aquarius now until October asks us to explore the deeper more unconscious nature of topics like prejudice in this country—including racism against anyone who's not white, male, or Christian, at least the way things are going now…Together, they ask us to awaken to the sad truth that the U.S.—rather than evolving in a forward thinking, all inclusive, progressively humanitarian direction--prefers to keep in power those wedded to America's racist, misogynist, & gender discriminatory past. We're already seeing glimmers of the answer to questions like: “How's that been workin' for you so far?” through the current policies of an Administration that takes us to war for inexplicable reasons & that ignores its negative impact on the daily decline in health & well-being of its own citizens.Resistance to this may well awaken another Uranus in Gemini historical association, which is to that of war. As American states become increasingly gerrymandered now due to this week's Supreme Court decision--as is already happening in places like Louisiana & Florida--the pending political, ethical, & moral split in values will become increasingly obvious. The upshot is the message that it's now up to us. Meaning the people who--when we work together in groups exhibit much greater power than those who currently hold those reigns—can achieve the kind of evolutionary progress the heavenly bodies are waking us up to now...Join us for more Astro News You Can Use on all this & more today at https://www.karmicevoluti

T-Rex. Brontosaurus. Diplodocus. Just the names conjure something enormous — a sense of scale that dwarfs human history. Standing before dinosaur tracks in the Utah desert, or gazing up at a towering skeleton in a natural history museum, you feel it: the vertigo of deep time. Millions of years of life and death, compressed into bone and stone. Two hundred years ago, Americans began unearthing mysterious fossils and giant bones they didn't even have names for yet. Almost overnight, something remarkable happened: the New World became old. The United States went from infant start-up nation to the blueprint for all of creation.Stanford historian Caroline Winterer traces this deep time revolution in her book How the New World Became Old — and she shows us how profoundly it shaped American identity. We still think of dinosaurs as fun, as children's toys and museum spectacles. Few of us realize how deeply they underwrote a national mythology — one that fueled American exceptionalism, manifest destiny, Christian nationalism and genocide. This is a story about wonder and awe. Power is not the problem. Our relationship with it is.In this episode, leadership expert and author Zoë Routh joins Boo to unpack one of the most misunderstood forces in business today. From authority and influence to status and courage, Zoë breaks down how power really works inside individuals, teams and whole organisations. They dig into the uncomfortable bits too. Why so many leaders have an allergy to power. How good leaders slowly drift into tyrant or manipulator territory without noticing. And what to do when you feel stuck in the middle, squeezed between senior strategy and a disengaged team. You will hear practical ways to build influence without a big title, set your team up properly so you are not constantly cracking the whip, and make courageous decisions without blowing everything up. Zoë also shares why transparency shuts down toxic power games, and why playing the game ethically might be the first step to changing it.If you want to lead with more awareness, more courage and a lot less ego, this conversation will challenge you in the best way.Actionable Takeaway: Stop avoiding power and start redefining it as your ability to get meaningful things done.If you want more influence, work on being genuinely useful and offering insight that helps others think better.Build your courage in small steps, because every brave action strengthens your belief that you can handle bigger ones. Before you make a bold move, map the consequences and decide if you are prepared to live with them.Play the game ethically so you can earn the authority to change the rules that are not working.Get clear on your team's purpose, results and responsibilities so you do not have to rely on nagging or pressure.Watch for the moment when confidence turns into control, because that is when leaders drift into their shadow side.Ask for feedback more often than feels comfortable, and treat it as data to grow rather than a verdict on who you are.Connect with Zoe Routh:Learn more about Zoe RouthZoe Routh on LinkedInZoe Routh on Facebook Connect with Christian "Boo" Boucousis:Learn more about Christian BoucousisBoo on LinkedInBoo on InstagramBoo on YouTube
If you've been on a personal growth journey for any length of time, you've probably heard the phrase "do the inner work." You journal. You reflect. You try to become more self-aware. And yet…sometimes the same patterns keep showing up. The same triggers. The same emotional reactions. The same relationship dynamics or self-sabotaging loops. In this episode of Your Limitless Life, I explore a powerful but often misunderstood part of personal development: shadow work. The "shadow" isn't the bad or broken parts of ourselves. It's simply the parts we learned to hide—emotions, traits, or desires that at some point didn't feel safe to express. When these hidden parts remain unexamined, they show up in our lives as triggers, patterns, or emotional reactions that feel confusing or frustrating. But when we approach them with curiosity and compassion instead of judgment, something powerful happens: we begin to uncover the gifts hidden inside our shadows. In this episode, I break down what shadow work actually is, how to recognize when your shadow is speaking, and how learning to integrate these parts of yourself can lead to deeper self-awareness, emotional freedom, and personal growth. JOIN SHERI HORN HASAN @ https://www.karmicevolution.com/astrologically-speaking to dissect how the themes of this eclipse have manifested thus far & what to expect now!First, this podcast reminds us that we're still in the waxing portion of the monthly lunar cycle which began with February 17's Aquarius New Moon solar eclipse which squared Uranus in Taurus. We knew then that there would be sudden & potentially shocking revelations this month. Hence, the first quarter lunar square of the Gemini Moon to the Pisces Sun February 24 has had us asking many questions (Gemini=communication & curiosity) the answers to which have previously remained vague & unclear (Neptune-ruled Pisces=confusion.)Known as the “crisis in action” portion of the monthly lunar cycle, this first quarter square represented the growth of the seeds planted at the Aquarius New Moon solar eclipse. It was then we were asked us to separate forward thinking humanitarian ideological beliefs from groups with fixed ideologues whose narrower sets of beliefs take us backward in time. As we move toward March 3's Virgo Full Moon lunar eclipse, which occurs at 3:38 a.m. PT & 6:38 a.m. ET at 12'54” of the Mercury-ruled sign of analytical thinking based on facts from which we may draw conclusions, we face the confusion & frustration of getting only vague, inconclusive answers from the Pisces Sun, as noted. Nowhere was this more obvious than during former first lady & Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's forced testimony in front of the GOP majority ruled House Oversight Committee on February 26. The ideological divide noted at the Aquarius New Moon solar eclipse became obvious at Clinton turned her clarity-seeking questions back onto the committee & it's true purpose.Despite the fact that convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell “took part in budget discussions related to the first Clinton Global Initiative conference; talked through challenges about it with both Clinton aides and Publicis Groupe, the company that produced the inaugural event; and arranged to wire $1 million to pay Publicis for its work on “the Clinton project,” according to emails in the massive cache of documents collected as part of the government's investigations of Mr. Epstein,” as per the New York Times, Calling this “partisan political theater,” & “and an insult to the American people,” Clinton derided the committee for wasting time asking her questions instead of calling for the testimony of people mentioned numerous times in the recently released Epstein documents.People like Elon Musk, U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, & President Donald Trump--who's mentioned thousands of times in these documents as has been reported now by many reputable media outlets. MERCURY RETROGRADE IN PISCES KICKS OFF AN ANNUAL REVIEW OF THE EMOTIONAL QUALITY OF LIFE No surprise that such confusion might arise as this occurred just after Mercury stationed retrograde at 22'34” Pisces late February 25 & early February 26, depending on your time zone. Mercury will remain in retrograde motion until he stations direct again at 8'29” Pisces, & this particular retrograde cycle kicks off a year of Mercury retrogrades through the water element. This podcast discusses the deeper meaning of Mercury retrograde periods in general, and the specific call during this next year for us to dive deeply into past emotional habits & relationships to help us release hidden unconscious drives based on past experiences. If we can bring such knowledge out of the unconscious portion of our psyches & into the light of greater consciousness, we can then make the positive changes necessary for greater happiness going forward. As a harbinger of the beginning of such a review period, we're seeing now being revealed the previously hidden names of those in contact with Epstein as he carried out building his international criminal pedophile ring. Some participated, some advised him on how to avoid further legal or public censure after his 2008 conviction for soliciting a minor for prostitution; others simply sought favor from him because of his money & influence &/or vice versa.THE PROMINENCE OF ECLIPSE THEMES IN THE COLLECTIVE AS WE APPROACH THE MARCH 3 LUNAR ECLIPSEEither way, though, this foretells the manifestation of this particular set of eclipse themes, which is that they involve paperwork, communication, & news, along with a young person. At the first solar eclipse the young person in the news was five-year-old Liam Consejo Ramos, taken by ICE along with his father into detention in Texas, whose bunny ear hat & spiderman backpack picture appeared as front page news across the U.S.Now, however, as we approach the March 3 Virgo Full Moon lunar eclipse, the spotlight has shifted to the 13 or 14 year old girl who's testimony of rape by Donald Trump was deleted from the FBI interview files & therefore not released with the rest of the Epstein documents. This missing interview is the perfect example of the manifestation of this eclipse's energies: That, as the Virgo Moon opposes the Pisces Sun, factual information emerges out of the haze of the confusing nature of the legally demanded release of ALL documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. As per the independent news organization Meidas Touch: “The January 4, 2026, memo, originally flagged by journalist Lisa Rubin, instructed FBI personnel reviewing documents under the Epstein Files Transparency Act to specifically flag certain categories of materials. Among them were FBI 302 forms, which are used to memorialize witness interviews. Those are the very types of records that were previously reported as missing from document productions tied to Epstein-related investigations.“Some of those interviews involve survivors who accused Trump of sexual assault when they were just children. The existence of a directive to flag these records suggests an internal focus on managing or controlling how such materials were handled during the review process.”The question now, as we approach this Virgo Full Moon lunar eclipse is what other hidden information will continue to be revealed going forward—particularly during Mercury's retrograde period AND as the Sun conjoins with Mercury retrograde on March 7? A Sun/Mercury conjunction usually denotes an important announcement of some kind made by someone prominent. However, when Mercury's retrograde, it's likely what we hear will relate to something we've already heard about before. So, whether that's continued denials, more resignations of prominent people associated with Epstein &/or Maxwell, or more hidden information coming to light, keep your ears open as this conjunction waxes now. ANOTHER PRESIDENTIAL PRECEDENT IS BEING SET—FOR BETTER OR WORSE… As former president Bill Clinton testifies today, February 27, we may learn more about his involvement with Jeffrey Epstein or we may not. Either way, however, the important point to recognize here (aka, the “aha!” moment) is how his forced Congressional testimony sets a precedent. This is the first time a president has been forced by subpoena to testify in front of a congressional committee, which now sets the stage for this to happen in the future. When we recognize that this testimony is now taking place during Mercury retrograde, we can assume: 1. That this particular committee doesn't have an astrologer, lol; & 2. That portends future forced testimony by any other president, past or present.Hmm, given that these eclipses also foretell the growing divide between groups who believe in the sanctity of the U.S. Constitution & its inherent right to things like due process, etc., & those who seek to avoid adhering to upholding such rights, any turnover in Congressional majorities may well foretell a future Trump deposition.Hopefully Bill Clinton won't be subjected to questions about UFOs or Pizzagate, as was his wife Hillary. And hopefully, any questions asked yield honest answers about his involvement, if any, with Jeffrey Epstein & his heinous morally derelict “businesses.”The point here is that this issue has gripped democrats, republicans, and independent voters alike based on the sheer disgust most feel for Epstein's “unnatural” sexual perversions that resulted in abuse, slaver, & what the U.N. advisors have labeled “torture” of children & women. So, the message of this set of eclipses now is that such disgust will not be tolerated by the collective—both domestically & internationally--& hence it will not “disappear” as the Pisces Sun may wish right ow.In turn, the ultimate question remains: Will what's happening now cause the ultimate downfall of more people (particularly men proven to be perpetrators guilty of such sexual crimes), including Donald Trump?Join Sheri Horn Hasan for a discussion of all this & more Astro News You Can Use, which the latest podcast drops today @ @ https://www.karmicevolution.com/astrologically-speakingSee you then! In classic storytelling, villains emerge as shadowy figures, embodying the darkness within us all. So why do some villains stick with us long after the credits roll? They leave a mark because they mirror our shadow side, the parts of us we try to hide. These characters amplify traits we all feel in small ways. They show us what lives under the surface, the stuff we don't name out loud. In this episode, we'll explore the nuances of villainy and how it can become a crucial catalyst for self-discovery and enlightenment. You might find that embracing your shadow side is the first step toward illuminating the light within.

Catherine Duncan has been at the bedside for hundreds of final moments and what she's witnessed might completely change how you see life, healing, and peace. After decades working in trauma hospitals and hospice care, Catherine has seen people find profound clarity just minutes before death. Fear disappears, light fills the room, and what truly matters finally comes into focus. The biggest lesson? You don't have to wait until the end to access that kind of peace. In This Episode, We Discuss: • Why years of meditation and self-care can still leave you feeling empty • How unprocessed trauma hides in the body and quietly drives your choices • The simple shift that reconnects you to something real — your heart, body, and spirit • Why manifestation often fails when it lives only in your head • How feeling elevated emotions like love and gratitude actually changes your energy, health, and life • What Catherine has seen at the bedside — moments that defy logic and reveal the truth of who we are Why This Conversation Matters This episode isn't about death - it's about life. It's about learning from those who've already walked to the edge, so you can wake up now, not someday. In this heartfelt episode of The Sacred Speaks, John Price sits down with longtime spiritual guide and Franciscan friar, Father Richard Rohr. Together they explore the deeper dimensions of happiness and meaning—moving far beyond cultural clichés. Drawing on Richard's decades of integrating psychology, spirituality, and mysticism, the conversation challenges conventional ideas of happiness as mere pleasure or circumstance. Instead, Richard invites us to embrace a “just right mind”—a way of living that balances ego, suffering, and joy. Speaking with candor and humility, he reflects on aging, facing death, and the transformative power of love, community, and humor. This conversation is a profound invitation to shift from sin management to radical compassion and participation in a bigger, joyful universal flow. Key Takeaways True happiness emerges from a “just right mind” that balances enough ego to appreciate life without judgment or denial. Happiness is not external comfort, but the capacity to meet suffering with grace and mindfulness. Radical acceptance and surrender open us to a joy larger than the self. Humor and community sustain lightheartedness and connection in the face of life's challenges. Tania's says “Intuition is a unique sense that connects us to our soul and the universe, and practicing meditation helps cultivate and distinguish intuition from ordinary thoughts”. Do you ever notice how even when you know something isn't working — the job, the relationship, the habit — you still put off making the change? In this episode of Codependency Alchemy, I share what I've been navigating around stepping away from being the “fixer,” why we cling to what feels familiar even when it drains us, and how to use shadow work and inner child healing to move through the fear of the unknown. This episode is for you if:* You're afraid that making a change means you'll lose people or end up alone.* You keep waiting for the “right time” to make a move, but it never comes.* You feel stuck in old patterns of caretaking or people-pleasing.* You're ready to learn tools that help you feel safe enough to choose differently.Whether we like it or not, not making a change is also a choice— and it often gives us the very opposite of what we think it will. We tell ourselves staying the same will bring safety or stability, but it usually leaves us with guilt, anxiety, and exhaustion. The medicine here is compassion. When you hold that part of you with love and say, “Of course you're afraid,” you create the safety you need to move forward.
Have you experienced any toxic behaviour on the sporting ground? This week Liv & I delve into just that, including:
In this episode, we discuss what it means to truly walk through our shadows. We share the real, messy, and transformative layers of shadow work—what it means to not just name our wounds but actually feel them, grieve them, and integrate them. This episode explores the shadow expressions of each of the six profile lines in Human Design, and how to navigate them during Eclipse season. The profile lines are the foundational archetypes that shape how we see ourselves and move through the world. From the 1-line's fear of inadequacy, to the 2-line's self-doubt and hiding, to the 3-line's fear of failure, the 4-line's clinging to security, the 5-line's projection field and burnout, and the 6-line's perfectionism and fear of being different… we break down how these patterns can hold us back, and how to lovingly transmute them into their highest expressions. We invite you to see your profile lines as a sacred roadmap—not just for your gifts, but for the shadows you came here to transform. Key Takeaways: Why embracing our shadow is essential to embodying our light, staying grounded, and growing sustainably as leaders and humans. How this eclipse portal amplifies both our blessings and our shadows, offering an opportunity for deep transformation and alchemy. How going deeper into your wounds (instead of bypassing them) actually expands your capacity to shine your light. A breakdown of the shadow tendencies of the 1–6 profile lines in Human Design and how to bring them back into balance. The uncomfortable but necessary truths shadow work brings forward. Why grief and resentment block presence (and how to move through it). The surprising depth of healing when you let yourself really feel it. Following the school shooting in Minneapolis, The Christian Post has offered a definitive answer for why these massacres keep happening and why gun restrictions won't work—people are evil. But why don't politically conservative Christians apply this logic to any other issues? Surprising new data show that more young men than women want to be parents one day, and there's a growing trend of single men becoming fathers by choice. What does this reveal about our society and the breakdown of dating and marriage? Theologian and best-selling author, Miroslav Volf, discusses his new book, “The Cost of Ambition.” He says our culture of competition is damaging, and too many Christians ignore what the Bible says about the dangers of ambition. Also this week, Phil brings us news from the glowing future. In this episode, we speak with therapist Joy Brooks about spiritual bypassing—how well-meaning spiritual beliefs and practices can sometimes mask or avoid the difficult emotions and wounds we all carry. Drawing on psychology, contemplative traditions, and Joy's own journey out of charismatic Christianity, the conversation uncovers why confronting pain honestly is essential for genuine growth. Joy reflects on how communities and individuals alike can unintentionally use faith to silence, dismiss, or rush past suffering—and the emotional costs this often brings. She also explores how the Christian tradition holds resources for facing the “messiness” of being human, embracing vulnerability, and resisting the temptation to perform a polished, “all-good” spirituality. Following the interview, Nomad hosts Tim Nash and Nick Thorley reflect on their own experiences with spiritual bypassing and the importance of creating safe spaces where questioning and emotional honesty are welcomed rather than shunned. This week on The Unbeatable Mind, host Mark Divine dives into another key commitment to forging elite, high performance teams—-respect. It holds the power to unlock massive potential, both in ourselves and those we lead. Drawing from his Navy SEAL experience, Mark shares compelling stories of leadership, integrity, and collaboration. He highlights what true respect looks like in action, whether it is welcoming new players like the Marines into the Special Operations community, or making tough, high-integrity decisions under pressure. He provides valuable insight into cultivating authenticity, clarity, and trust, which are the building blocks of genuine respect—-and details why these “soft skills” are true superpowers in today's fast paced world. Key Takeaways: Radical Authenticity: Understand why the most respected leaders lead with humility, admit when they're wrong, and always stay real. This creates genuine connection and fosters a culture of mutual respect. Clarity Conquers Pressure: Discover why staying crystal clear on what your values are even when facing political or organizational pressure is key to earning respect. The Shadow Side of Respect: Recognize that true respect comes from embracing vulnerability, owning your flaws, and being transparent about your challenges and setbacks. Respect Leads to Trust & Courage: Notice that by embodying integrity, authenticity, and clarity, leaders create a foundation for organizational trust and collective courage. Mark Divine is a former Navy SEAL Commander, entrepreneur, and NYT Bestselling author with PhD in Global Leadership and Change who has dedicated his life to unlocking human potential through integrated training in mental toughness, leadership, and physical readiness. Part 4: Equanimity - unfolds as we find a wise balance and spaciousness in the midst of this living, dying world. This series reflects on four primary expressions of an awake, wise heart: lovingkindness, compassion, joy and equanimity. In each talk we explore the habitual patterning that blocks our full realization of these innate capacities, and the understandings and practices that nurture their unfolding. In this talk, Tara explores: A Heart Ready for Anything – Practical reflections and meditations to cultivate equanimity in relationships and daily life. The Wisdom of Equanimity – How balance and spacious awareness free us from reactivity and deepen our capacity for love. Equanimity as the Ground for Compassion – The role of equanimity in keeping love from contracting into attachment and compassion from turning into pity. Navigating Emotional Waves – The metaphor of the ocean and waves to cultivate presence amidst life's inevitable challenges. The Shadow Side of Equanimity – How indifference can masquerade as equanimity and the importance of staying engaged with life.
