Send us a textChristian, the lead singer and bassist for The Ritualists, stops by the show to discuss bass playing, the new album Too Pure to Cure, cooking, history, and more.*****NYC-based The Ritualists' upcoming album, Too Pure To Cure (out now) is a trip. Produced and mixed by GRAMMY-winner Mario J McNulty (David Bowie, Nine Inch Nails, Prince), the album is packed with the band's signature mix of goth, glam, and modern rock, all wrapped up in their larger-than-life energy.Following their darkly danceable single "You Know Better", the band has recently released "The Wake" —a soaring, synth-heavy anthem inspired by classic ‘80s dark fantasy films (The NeverEnding Story, anyone?) and the shimmering hooks of the New Romantic era. Frontman Christian Dryden describes it as a reflection on childhood, resilience, and the ability to pull oneself out of tough situations. And it's already earned praise from The NeverEnding Story theme song's own (and fellow Reybee client) Limahl, who says:"I really like this—a little surreal, very melodic and with a video that has a classic early '80s vibe. The chorus asks, ‘Whoever wakes up?' — well, I just did, to The Ritualists!" Tracks on the album range from "King of Air," a surrealist reflection on feeling misunderstood, to "Every Thread," which juxtaposes cosmic insignificance with the universal pangs of love and envy. And of course, there's the title track, "Too Pure to Cure," which lead vocalist/songwriter Christian Dryden describes as less of a protest and more of a shoulder shrug—it's a declaration of knowing who you are and refusing to be “cured” of it. The Ritualists are Christian Dryden (vocals, bass), Jeffrey Andrew (keyboards), David Andreana (guitars), and Eric Kuby (drums). Too Pure To Cure is available on all streaming platforms today. *****If you would like to contact the show about being a guest, please email us at Dauna@bettertopodcast.comUpcoming guests can be found: https://dmneedom.com/upcoming-guest Follow us on Social MediaInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/author_d.m.needom/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/bettertopodcastwithdmneedomIntro and Outro music compliments of Fast Suzi©2025 Better To...Podcast with D. The Metal Maniacs Podcast – Episode 91: 5 Concerts That Changed Us Forever!Welcome to Episode 91 of The Metal Maniacs Podcast, hosted by *Jay Ingersoll and Nick Modd! This week, we're diving deep into the five concerts each that changed our lives forever—those once-in-a-lifetime experiences that left a permanent mark on our souls and solidified our love for heavy music. From the raw energy of death metal pioneers to the theatrical madness of shock rock legends, these are the shows that shaped us as metalheads. A few we talk about are### **Marilyn Manson – Dead to the World Tour (April 30, 1997 – Wings Stadium, Kalamazoo, MI)**One of the most controversial and unforgettable tours of the ‘90s, **Marilyn Manson's Dead to the World Tour** was a spectacle of chaos, aggression, and mind-bending theatrics. Supporting *Antichrist Superstar*, this show was packed with intense visuals, haunting performances, and a setlist that included tracks like *Angel With the Scabbed Wings* and *Antichrist Superstar*. The lineup was stacked with **Rasputina, Pist. On, and Helmet**, making for an eclectic and powerful night of music.### **Death – The Sound of Perseverance Tour (November 21, 1998 – I-Rock Night Club/Harpo's, Detroit, MI)**Seeing **Chuck Schuldiner and Death live** was nothing short of witnessing history in the making. Touring in support of *The Sound of Perseverance*, Death's performance was an absolute masterclass in technical death metal. This show featured some of Chuck's most intricate and emotionally charged compositions, and the energy in the crowd was off the charts. Death's legacy as one of the most innovative and influential bands in metal was solidified that night.### **Ozzfest 1998 – Pine Knob Music Theatre, Clarkston, MI (July 23, 1998)**Ozzfest ‘98 was an **era-defining** festival, boasting a killer lineup that included **Ozzy Osbourne, Tool, System of a Down, Limp Bizkit, Megadeth, Incubus, and more**. It was a whirlwind of moshing, scorching heat, and the sound of thousands of fans losing their minds to some of the biggest bands in metal history. This festival set the standard for modern metal tours and provided one of the most intense festival experiences we've ever had.### **Walls of Jericho – The Crofoot Ballroom, Pontiac, MI (August 19, 2023)**Fast-forwarding to a more recent gig, **Walls of Jericho** performed alongside **Bleeding Through, Dead to Fall, Let It Die, Through the Eyes of the Dead, and Too Pure to Die** for an unforgettable night of **metalcore brutality**. The energy at The Crofoot Ballroom was **explosive**, and it was incredible to see Walls of Jericho still bringing the same level of aggression and intensity that made them legends in the scene.### **Korn, Ozzy Osbourne & Deftones – Wings Event Center, Kalamazoo, MI (February 7, 1996)**A true **genre-defining moment**, this tour combined **nu-metal pioneers Korn and Deftones** with the Prince of Darkness himself, **Ozzy Osbourne**. This show was **a collision of worlds**, blending Ozzy's legendary metal status with the rising wave of nu-metal chaos. The atmosphere was electric, with mosh pits erupting and an unforgettable performance that left a lasting impression on us.Final ThoughtsConcerts are more than just performances—they're **rituals, shared experiences, and moments of pure catharsis**. These five shows (and the honorable mentions) helped shape our love for heavy music, and we know many of you have had similar experiences.Hit us up in the comments and let us know—what concerts changed YOUR life forever?Stay heavy,Jay & NickFollow us- https://linktr.ee/metalmaniacsmiThe Metal Maniacs Podcast

The Ritualists : 'You Know Better' Rocks" Review by Grant Crossan "Get ready to groove with The Ritualists' latest single, "You Know Better"! This NYC-based band brings a British flair with their Franz Ferdinand-esque rhythm, The Cult-inspired guitars, and glam vocals reminiscent of Brian Molko & Brett Anderson. Co-produced by Mario McNulty (David Bowie, Prince), their upcoming album "Too Pure to Cure" is set to electrify the scene. Simon Le Bon calls them "pure new romantic psychedelia" - and we can't agree more! #TheRitualists #TooPureToCure #YouKnowBetter" https://youtu.be/aS_la8bQKaw Brutally Delicious Podcast#thebrutallydeliciouspodcast #brutallydelicious #britrock #theritualists #heavymetal #heavymetalmusic #newmusicreview #toopuretocure #NowPlaying #foryourpageシ Learn more about your ad choices. This week, Busy and Caissie are visiting Boston, dressed in their finest interpretations of “J Lo Goes to Dunkin Donuts” and chatting with their friend, comedian and star of Bob's Burgers, Eugene Mirman, about what it's like to play what is basically a cartoon version of yourself if you were a child. The pivot he shares is heartbreaking but also imbued with so much love. Joining the stage is friend of the pod, Lou Barlow, from the bands Dinosaur Jr., Sebadoh and The Folk Implosion, to play one of Busy's all-time favorite songs, “Too Pure.” And, as if that weren't enough, Boston musician Will Dailey comes out to do a duet with Biz, but before he does, he plays a cover of a song in honor of orphans everywhere that's gonna make you cry like Caissie did. Mambo Taxi special with Lenie Mets in conversation with David Eastaugh Mambo Taxi were inspired by the UK garage rock scene and US punk. They formed after Lenie was invited to join Anjali, Ella, Andrea and Delia - who were all living together (bar Delia) in a squat in Islington- to form a band. They became part of a vibrant music scene in the early 1990s which centered around three indie labels in London at the time, namely Clawfist, Too Pure and Wiiija. Their sound was a mixture of garage, punk, and pop and they had links to British riot grrrl bands such as Huggy Bear. Drummer Anjali Bhatia left in 1992 in order to form the Voodoo Queens and guitarist Ella Guru joined her in 1993. The other members of the 1992 line-up appearing on the first single - a double 'A' side of "Prom Queen" written by Anjali and "Insecure" written by Lenie - were: Lenie (lead vocal/bass), Delia (guitar/vocals) and Andrea (organ/vocals). Karin Rapp (drums/vocals) joined the band from the second single onwards.
Th' Faith Healers special with Roxanne Stephen in conversation with David Eastaugh Th' Faith Healers were an English indie rock band who were originally active between 1990 and 1994. The members of the group were Roxanne Stephen (vocals), Tom Cullinan (guitar and vocals), Ben Hopkin (bass), and Joe Dilworth (drums).[1] They recorded multiple EPs and singles along with two full LPs. Tom Cullinan, who handled the bulk of the songwriting, went on to help form the band Quickspace. Signed to Too Pure in the United Kingdom, their albums were released by Elektra in the United States. Both albums feature clear krautrock influences, most evident in their cover of Can's "Mother Sky", from Lido. Since their initial break-up in 1994, the band have reformed intermittently. They embarked on a short reunion tour in 2006 in conjunction with the release of their compilation Peel Sessions the previous year. The band reformed in 2009, playing at the All Tomorrow's Partiesmusic festival twice, first in May (curated by The Breeders) and then again in December (curated by My Bloody Valentine).

Jordan Peterson is the guitarist and architect of straight edge hardcore outfit, Too Pure To Die. During the mid 2000's Jordan led a rotating roster of band mates across the U.S., Canada, and Europe. Their relentless touring left pits of devastation in their wake. Jordan tells all in detail for the first time; the outrageous and complex story of Too Pure to Die that involves many players, accomplishments, missteps, grittiness, and bad luck. However, Jordan and Too Pure still have a lasting legacy in hardcore and are braving the water yet again as they are set to return after a decade absence in 2018.
Zach Johnson is the guitarist for metal and hardcore outfit, The Ghost Inside. After a catastrophic bus accident in 2015 put TGI on indefinite hiatus, Zach has found himself home in Des Moines for the longest period of time in almost a decade having to undergo and recover from numerous surgeries and procedures. This is far cry from his fast paced life of recording records and relentless worldwide touring TGI had become known for. Prior to those unfortunate events, Zach spent his teens and late twenties, touring the country in pop punk band The Lifestyle, followed by a stint in the more prominent straight edge hardcore outfit, Too Pure to Die. We talk cutting his teeth in those formidable bands, gun avidity, life post accident, his continuing recovery, and the optimism of an eventual return to his life with The Ghost Inside again down the road.
