Today we're going to talk today about a simple, first step to scaling which is small group coaching. My guest is Brynn Barale who empowers breast cancer survivors to lose weight without dieting so they can live a kick ass life after cancer. Last year, Brynn launched her first power group, which is the way we describe small groups inside The Hive. While Brynn loved working with her small group, she realized that she needs a retention plan to enroll her members into the next offer - whether that offer is to continue in the group or move into a different container. So, Brynn and I got to work designing the shape of her group coaching container and outlining a plan to invite current clients, power group members and even former clients into it. So, this episode addresses the quiet fear a lot of newer coaches (or let's be honest… veteran coaches like me) sometimes feel when we enroll a new client or roll out a new offer. What's that fear? What if I won't be able to deliver? What if I can't actually help this client the way they want me to? That was the fear holding today's guest back from actively selling. My guest today is Matt Winters who recently changed his niche away from helping gay men go from feeling stuck and lonely to having the authentic connections they want in all areas of life. Now, Matt plans to leverage a career full of experience toI help leaders relate to people as humans instead of as simply resources. Matt came to the conversation feeling conflicted and murky. Today we're going to talk about scholarships. Let's draw a clear distinction between discounts and scholarships. A while back, inside the Hive, we had a member share that someone requested a scholarship into her program. After a little negotiation back and forth, this coach said yes to the client's scholarship request. But when we really looked at the circumstance, this client didn't earn a scholarship, they just got a discount, which is not equitable or sustainable. There's nothing wrong with offering discounts, but don't confuse them with scholarships. A scholarship is something that is awarded on the basis of merit, achievement or other qualification. Scholarships require structure, clear criteria, intention and an equitable process to evaluate the winners. We need be thoughtful about when, why and to whom we decide to grant scholarships. But it's also the thing that helps you move beyond relying on referrals to bring in private clients. Which is why today, we're going to craft a list building strategy with private client attraction in mind. Today's guest is Jolea Payne who holds healing space for Black women and women of color leading social change. On episode 155 of this show, Jolea and I mapped out a plan for her membership program. Amy is such an incredible example of a coach who always strives to center her clients. And over the last little while she's been tweaking her offers and her pricing in order to discover what will serve her audience the best while still feeding her business. I think most of us can agree that some of the best clients come through referrals. If you use Instagram (IG) in your marketing, this episode is for you because let's face it...IG can be incredibly frustrating when you feel like the effort doesn't match the results you get back. My guest today is Toya Gavin who helps women of color transition from the jobs they were trained in to the careers they were built for. When Toya first started coaching she focused on helping women in the law find better jobs, which for Toya felt like a neat and tidy outcome with a nice linear path to follow. Now that Toya's leaning into a deeper purpose, she's been struggling a bit to articulate what her signature system is. Because the journey is different for every client. The obstacles are less obvious and more deeply rooted in our society. But, like me, Toya is a very linear thinker. So, we both really wanted to find a way to communicate the layered, nuanced and extremely important purpose of her work to accomplish three things. First, Toya wanted a syllabus so to speak that her clients can check in with in order to track their own progress, understand what might come next, and easily reference tools they've learned through coaching. Second, Toya wanted a roadmap she can rely on to keep her work, her message, and her marketing organized in her own mind. Ideally, this roadmap could even turn into the outline of a book one day. And lastly, Toya wanted to use her signature system as a marketing tool. So, we had to figure out clear and hooky language to describe her work in a way that wouldn't diminish it. If you’ve ever asked yourself, “how the heck can I make more money at this coaching thing” you are in for a treat. My guest is Katy Chen Mazzara who’s a trauma informed certified Financial Wellness Coach who helps creative freelancers and entrepreneurs release generational traumas and fears so that they can find emotional and financial freedom. I want to set today's episode up a little differently than I normally do because it's such a fantastic example of what can happen often inside of a coaching session. The client comes in with a problem to solve. The coach asks open ended questions to uncover the root of the problem. The two agree on a potential solution and begin strategizing a plan to move forward. Only when the plan begins to take shape do they then realize that they're actually solving the wrong problem. So, back to the drawing board they go. While these sessions may seem like a big waste of time, I find them to be incredibly valuable because they help the client root back into what matters most and therefore recommit to themselves and their mission. That’s exactly what happened for today's guest Suzette Mullen who helps LGBTQIA+ folks raise their voice and write a memoir. Suzette came into our session wondering what extra offer she should include for her audience. And after a lot of discussion, we landed back where we began… Suzette committed to go all in on the offer she believes in the most. The offer she knows will make the biggest impact on her clients. My guest today is Allyson Greek who recently stepped back from her coaching business to commit to a new niche. My guest today is Darcie Warden who teaches people in midlife the Rising Phoenix Method to gain clarity about what's next so that they can enthusiastically step into new possibilities to create the next chapter of their life. Darcie is in an all too familiar season of her business. She's willing to put in the work and wants to do it right. And she's also feeling a lot of pressure to be further along than she actually is right now. Do you ever worry that you overcomplicate things inside your business? My guest today is MIchelle Pollack who might be familiar to you because this is actually her third time on the show.
