Bargirls, bar fights, beer, and bong hits – yes, those topics are covered, but this interview features much more than salacious tales. TC Brown, who first came here at the age of 18, served in the U.S. Air Force as a police officer – or “Sky Cop” – at the famous CCK Air Base in Taichung during the Vietnam War era. Brown's recent book, Made in Taiwan, is a wonderfully honest memoir; an important first-hand account of his five-year deployment and a glimpse into a radically different Taiwan, and he's a great storyteller… as you will hear. Please rate or review the program! It helps people find the show.

Watch this interview here https://youtu.be/CfZAHMQFdnc Brought to you by the Gettysburg Museum of History Foundation, we happily present to you an episode from a series of shows that we usually keep for our Patreon subscribers only. It's called "COMBAT STORIES". Typically, I interview someone affiliated with the show (Eric "The Producer" or Colby Sumner) or a listener who has experienced combat and leave those episodes on Patreon. I do this because I want to de-romanticize war, as I think too many of us fall prey to the "hurrah-ness" of war movies. That is, we DID, up until Saving Private Ryan came out. Due to the good-nature of Gettysburg Museum of History owner Erik Dorr, I was able to sit down and interview a man who not only experienced combat, but a man who has made sure that film audiences experience it too. He is Captain Dale Dye, Vietnam Vet, founder of Warriors Inc, writer, filmmaker, actor and all-around great guy to talk to. This interview has information that he rarely speaks about in the myriad interviews available online and, for that, I am grateful, and I hope you are too. So sit back and have a chat with the legendary Captain Dale Dye. Support the Gettysburg Museum of History Foundation- www.gettysburgmuseumofhistory.com Help Addressing Gettysburg grow- www.patreon.com/addressinggettysburg for our premium content and more or www.dhpioneers.com to help us fund our videos projects. **This episode begins with our discussions off-mic. The interview itself morphed from our traditional warm-up banter into the interview itself once I realized that our conversation flowed so effortlessly that to stop it in order to officialy begin the show would have killed the momentum. Once I realized we were in it, you will hear my voice come in clearly. - Matt

My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Karen E Osborne, author of the book Justice for Emerson. Karen is an award-winning and Amazon Kindle best-selling author of five suspense novels–Reckonings (award-winning family saga/suspense), Tangled Lies (award-winning murder mystery), Getting It Right (recognized by Essence Magazine as a Best Read), True Grace, (award-winning historical fiction inspired by her grandmother, set in 1924 Harlem, NY), and Justice for Emerson, a dual timeline murder mystery. Karen believes in generosity and giving back. She hosts a weekly video podcast What Are You Reading? What Are You Writing? supporting fellow authors. She is on the board of directors of Easterseals Florida helping the differently abled, is an Elder in her church, volunteers for several professional organizations supporting nonprofits and feeds the hungry and unhoused every week. Native New Yorkers living in Florida, Karen and her husband, Robert, have two grown children and three grandsons. In my book review, I stated Justice for Emerson is a wonderful mystery with a side of romance and a dash of historical fiction - and I simply loved this book! Without a doubt, I am a sucker for books that cross genres. Plus, it had a dual timeline and more than one POV. The main character, Aria, loves to serve. Her career puts her on the frontlines battling homelessness, addiction, and hunger. She's a go-getter, but she's not perfect. She has a chip on her shoulder - she hates her diminutive stature and worries if others see her as a capable leader - AND she's still grieving the loss of her husband - which means she's more than conflicted about the attention of two very different and very handsome men. Things come to a head when she finds Emerson, a volunteer and Vietnam Vet who struggles with addiction, shot in the basement of her non-profit. To make matters worse, she sees the killer, and he threatens her and everyone she loves. The descriptions of those living in their cars tore at my heart. The romance stirred my heart. And the twists and turns kept my heart racing. It's a story you won't want to miss! WHILE THE US ALLEGES CURRENT WAR CRIMES IN EURASIA, REMEMBERING VIETNAM: 7/8: The Long Reckoning: A Story of War, Peace, and Redemption in Vietnam –by George Black (Author) https://www.amazon.com/Long-Reckoning-Story-Redemption-Vietnam/dp/0593534107 The American war in Vietnam has left many long-lasting scars that have not yet been sufficiently examined. The worst of them were inflicted in a tiny area bounded by the demilitarized zone between North and South Vietnam and the Ho Chi Minh Trail in neighboring Laos. That small region saw the most intense aerial bombing campaign in history, the massive use of toxic chemicals, and the heaviest casualties on both sides. In The Long Reckoning, George Black recounts the inspirational story of the small cast of characters—veterans, scientists, and Quaker-inspired pacifists, and their Vietnamese partners—who used their moral authority, scientific and political ingenuity, and sheer persistence to attempt to heal the horrors that were left in the wake of the military engagement in Southeast Asia. Their intersecting story is one of reconciliation and personal redemption, embedded in a vivid portrait of Vietnam today, with all its startling collisions between past and present, in which one-time mortal enemies, in the endless shape-shifting of geopolitics, have been transformed into close allies and partners. 1971 VIETNAM VETS
