Justin and Bec wrap their discussion on the recorded and filmed rehearsals undertaken for the Las Vegas engagement documented in the feature film "That's The Way It Is". The duo continues through July and August 1970's rehearsal dates, right up to August 10, the day Elvis would take the stage in front of paying customers, and reflect on the insights into Elvis and his band's creative processes along the way. Then Gurdip taps in for Song of the Week, selecting the rowdy gospel number "If the Lord Wasn't Walking By My Side", which Elvis cut for his "How Great Thou Art" album. Justin's Song of the Week is Elvis's 1970 version of Joe South's plea for empathy and understanding, "Walk A Mile in My Shoes." Our primary resource for this episode was the content contained within the Follow That Dream release "That's The Way It Is: 50th Anniversary Collectors Edition" including the book by David English and Pal Granlund. Don't forget that the Netflix documentary "Return of the King: The Fall and Rise of Elvis Presley" releases today, November 13, 2024 on Netflix. We intend to have a full-group discussion soon! Your support allows us to continue to provide thoughtful, provocative, challenging and well-researched perspectives on Elvis's career, his peers and influences, and his cultural impact and legacy.

This was one of my favorite episodes to record ever! It is a 20 minute walk with me and Episode. In this episode, I will guide you through a loving kindness meditation practice. Below is a script if you wish to practice it on your own. Send loving kindness to yourself, someone you love, someone who you are neutral about, someone who is difficult, and to all living beings. You can create your own message, or use the following script: may you be happy, maybe healthy, may you be safe, may you live with ease, may you have peace, may you be free.

You are not legally required to bring empathy to a ballgame, but National League Town believes it doesn't hurt to pack a little and keep it within reach, especially as a given season's frustrations mount. Hello Mogpies! Many have heard the phrase "walk a mile in my shoes", but we have never been able to truly do this...until now. VR has given us the ability to experience almost first hand certain situations that would have been lost to us in the past. And many designers are using it as a tool to educate individuals on historical events or personal stories. From going to the wrong bathroom to playing in the Negro Baseball League we can now experience just about everything. But the question here is does this create true empathy or is it more of a gaming experience. Can we truly walk a mile in someone else's shoes using VR? -------------------- Please help us out and leave a rating and review on the pod-catcher of your choice. Also, spread the word on the show because that helps us out more than you may ever know. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/murder-of-gray/support

If you can't walk a mile in their shoes, at least take a few stepsYou've probably been told that you should walk a mile in the shoes of your customers, to see what's it's like for them when shopping for a service or product like yours. But can you really walk a mile in their shoes if you're not the same demographic, with no prior experience shopping for a product or service like yours? I don't think so, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't at least take a few steps as they do.Listen to this new, 9-minute episode for some ideas on how to gain more of their perspective, to make it easier for them to do business with you.If you have any questions about anything in this, or any of my podcasts, or have a suggestion for a topic or guest, please reach out directly to me at Alan@WeddingBusinessSolutions.com or visit my website Podcast.AlanBerg.comPlease be sure to subscribe to this podcast and leave a review (thanks, it really does make a difference). Kim Kardashian is a well-known reality TV star, socialite, and businesswoman who has built a massive following for herself through her various ventures. Recently, she sparked controversy when she commented on the struggles faced by everyday people during the COVID-19 pandemic. In an interview with David Letterman on his Netflix show, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, Kardashian said that she believed people should work harder if they wanted to achieve success. She argued that while the pandemic had been difficult for many people, it was also an opportunity for them to reevaluate their priorities and work towards their goals. While some viewers may have taken Kardashian's comments as a call to action, others saw them as insensitive and out of touch with the reality of the situation. After all, many people have lost their jobs, businesses, and even loved ones during the pandemic, and it's not as simple as just working harder to overcome these challenges. Kardashian's comments also reflect a larger societal belief that success is solely a result of hard work and determination. While these qualities are certainly important, they do not account for other factors such as privilege, luck, and systemic barriers that prevent certain groups from achieving success. Moreover, Kardashian's own success has been shaped by factors outside of her control, such as her family's wealth and connections. While she undoubtedly works hard on her various businesses and projects, it's important to acknowledge the role that privilege has played in her success. Ultimately, Kardashian's comments serve as a reminder of the need for empathy and understanding during difficult times. While hard work is certainly important, it's not a panacea for all of life's challenges, and it's important to acknowledge the ways in which systemic inequalities can impact individuals' ability to achieve success. As a society, we should strive to create a more equitable and just world where everyone has access to the resources and opportunities they need to thrive. This means recognizing and addressing the systemic barriers that prevent certain groups from achieving success, and working towards creating a more level playing field for everyone. In conclusion, while Kardashian's comments may have been controversial, they serve as a reminder of the need for empathy and understanding during difficult times. While hard work is important, it's not the only factor that determines success, and we should work towards creating a more equitable and just society where everyone has the opportunity to succeed. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/theyoungbloods/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/theyoungbloods/support

Hello to you listening in Hillerod, Denmark!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday and your host, Diane Wyzga.Perhaps you've heard the old saying about being unable to understand another person's experience until you've walked a mile in their shoes. The saying is attributed to Native American tribes and from the 1895 poem by Mary T. Lathrap, Judge Softly, with its well-known closing line, “Take the time to walk a mile in his moccasins.” Until “woke” culture hijacked publication, this poem was so embedded in American public education that almost every American often used the expression “Walk a mile in his moccasins.”Prompted by an art display in our local Sno-Isle library I offer you a different perspective: “Yes, I could walk a mile in your shoes; but I imagine that they are as ill-fitting as mine. What if we take off our shoes, walk the road side-by-side and share our stories so we can hear each other's lives unfold as we pass the miles together.”Question: We cannot really know how to be in the same situation as a particular person just like we cannot see the color red as they do. What if we just take off our shoes and walk together? CTA: "Come for the stories - Stay for the magic!" Speaking of magic, I hope you'll subscribe, follow, share a 5-star rating and nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, bring your friends and rellies, and join us!
