In this podcast episode, Pam Hutchings shares the harrowing ten-month ordeal she went through with her daughter Taryn, whose mental health took a sharp decline. It all started with Taryn hearing chanting in her head, constantly saying 'die, die, die.' Pam, a former mobile crisis counselor and social worker, recounts the struggle of finding the right diagnosis and support for Taryn, and how it impacted her own mental health. This led Pam and Taryn to create a nonprofit to provide peer support groups for teens and parents/caregivers. Their initiatives include monthly sharing circles and the upcoming PJ Project, where they aim to provide new pajamas to all new patients at their local youth mental health unit. Through their work, Pam and Taryn aim to break the stigma around mental health and create a community of support. ........................................................................
