Have you met Andrea Greene yet? Andrea Greene is the Owner and Operator of Beans Events and Beans Treats, a custom decor and treat company that specializes in creating specialty pieces for your special events. "Bean’s Treats and Bean’s events gets its name from the nickname my mother gave me when I was growing up; Bean. My family still calls me Bean to this day! My mother is a huge reason why I love baking and crafting. She always found these great crafting magazines- there was no Pinterest back then- and she would make holidays extra special by replicating her magazine findings. Baking we would do on Sunday’s and this became our religion. I was her trusted helper for both activities and I loved the bonding it provided. As a mother with two small children of my own, I do my best to explore what my children love to do and bond over it just like my mother and I. Although my children don’t help in any way with my customers products, we’re still very involved in our own family treats and crafts! Besides being a mom, wife, corporate slave, entrepreneur... etc. I am me. That involves playing soccer, getting my nails done-professionally, binge watching netfix, crave, Disney + #ad , unwillingly killing houseplants, and holding myself up to high expectations. I’m a giver. I have probably the best circle of friends any one woman could ever have- they keep my soul intact. And my husband is a really solid dude who puts up with every thing that I throw at him. And God knows I have thrown him some heaters. Every day I try to find love within myself and/or in the very least in nature. And that’s me! I’m pretty, pretty, pretty lucky. SHOW NOTES Lisa Carpenter, CNC, CSNC, Pn1, CPT, is the secret weapon for the frustrated dieters and driven achievers of the world. As a nutrition and life coach, she empowers her clients to connect deeply with their emotions, free themselves from judgment, and create lasting physical and emotional transformations. She inspires them to wake up to Full Frontal Living™ — a new mindset of conscious ownership of the decisions we all make around our health and daily life, as well as the emotions that drive them. Wellness has always been a part of my life but looking back, growing up I wasn’t always eating healthy. I always loved sugar and junk food. And I even smoked. Over time I really loved going to the gym and my career started to unfold from that point in time. It’s amazing how we can transform in this lifetime from just putting one foot in front of the other. Then I started to compete in fitness and figure and that’s when my career really unfolded from there. What are some tips on curbing sugar cravings: Stop shitting on yourself Make choices with intention I don’t eat things that will make me feel physically horrible I do enjoy the things I love without shame or guilt Choose not to eat trigger food, never abstain How do you define happiness: Happiness is not living with chaos in between my ears. It’s having a peaceful mindset. It’s not freaking out about money, food, my body, or really anything in my life. You don’t have to like every part of yourself to love yourself. Morning routine: Some days I’ll go to the gym but if other days my body is telling me I need rest, I stay in bed longer. I wake up at 5:15 because if I want to go to the gym then I’d do it then before my kids get up. Some mornings I’ll journal. Sometimes meditation. But I always check in with myself with what I need to be my best self. And that is my routine. Do you have 3 self care practices you just can’t live without: Working out (it’s really important to me to feel strong) Journaling Music Book Recommendations: The Four Tendencies: The Indispensable Personality Profiles That Reveal How to Make Your Life Better (and Other People's Lives Better, Too) by Gretchen Rubin The Gifts of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You're Supposed to Be and Embrace Who You Are by Brené Brown It what area do you find your women clients struggle with the most and what is your best advice for them: Body Image and relationship with food. Being in acceptance with themselves. Also struggling with perfectionism and trying to control all the pieces in their lives. Listening to podcasts like this is important. Investing in the parts of our lives we’d like to get better at. Seek help, you don’t need to do it on your own. Stop living in a place of suffering and hire someone to help you achieve your goals. Figure out the true cause that is stopping you from what you want. Favorite success story: Recently this one woman is a high achieving success coach. She felt her body was’t matching the success she had in every other place in her life. She’s spent 10 months mentally finding out what was up and she has radically transforms. It just goes to show we can have it all. 17 years ago I worked with a woman who wanted a nutrition plan and workout plan. She has been struggling with body image. And she said if she was 10 pounds lighter she’d be happy and that led her into a cycle of eating disorders. She recently posted on my wall on how much she’s grown and followed to watch me evolve as well.

Här använder vi oss av en metod med papper och penna för att komma in i det undermedvetna (4 blad) Referenser i detta avsnitt: “Authenticity is a collection of choices that we have to make every day. It's about the choice to show up and be real. The choice to be honest. The choice to let our true selves be seen.” ― Brené Brown, The Gifts of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You're Supposed to Be and Embrace Who You Are Moa och Marie – Yogafruar – a YogaWifeInLife... FCP S2E5 - Is it Possible to Overcome Being a Perfectionist?

Financial Conversation Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 20, 2017 35:40

Do you struggle with being a perfectionist? If so, we can relate. There are times when being a perfectionist is seen as a good thing. It means you strive to always do your best, but it can also be a hindrance. Because being a perfectionist can cause harm to yourself and your loved ones, we decided to tackle the topic of how to stop being a perfectionist in our podcast this week. The Problem with Perfectionism If you take perfectionism to an extreme, it means you are literally striving for everything to be 100% perfect. You can get caught up in the details and end up wasting a lot of time on something that could be completed in far less time by a non-perfectionist. This can be a problem if you are self-employed because you won't be able to get as much value for your time on a project. But, even in a traditional career, this perfectionism can be a problem. When you get stuck in these little details, not only are you hindering your productivity, but you can be holding up your co-workers too. Plus, being a perfectionist also means you tend to expect those around you to hold up to your "perfect" standards, which is nearly impossible. Not every one is driven to strive for perfection, and when you expect that of others, you are setting yourself up for disappointment. The bottom line is that nothing will ever be 100% perfect, so striving for perfectionism is striving for failure. How to Stop Being a Perfectionist Stopping your perfectionism is easier said than done, but it is something you can work toward. Put Things in Perspective One of the best ways to stop being a perfectionist is to put things in perspective. When you find yourself caught up in the details, ask yourself the following questions:  Will this ever truly be perfect? Will there be a negative consequence for it not being perfect? Is it "good enough"? How much better can it really get if I continue to stress over the details? These questions can help you put things into perspective and hopefully realize that the law of diminishing returns definitely applies to projects you are striving to make "perfect". Step Away Another way to stop being a perfectionist is to realize when it's time to step away from a project and actually do it! Give yourself a break, or focus on something else you need to complete. When you come back to your project later, you'll likely find that the work you've completed is good enough. In fact, it may even be better than your clients, employers, etc. were expecting already. Stepping away and coming back to a project later can give you a fresh perspective on something. The bottom line to remember is there's truly no such thing as perfect. In this episode we discuss: 1:10 - Have you always been a perfectionist? 2:45 - What are some of the drawbacks of being a perfectionist and having high standards? 7:10 - How perfectionism can hurt other people in your life 18:05 - How to give yourself some grace as a perfectionist 23:40 - Don't celebrate the "small" wins, celebrate every win! 23:50 - There's no such thing as perfect. Striving for perfectionism is striving for failure. 26:50 - Learning to embracing the imperfect and embracing failure Related Links to Check Out: Why You Shouldn't Skimp on Self-Care The Gifts of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You're Supposed to Be and Embrace Who You Are by Brene Brown You can also listen to the audio book for FREE with a 30 day trial of Audible.com!
