Matthew 5 says, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” This message examines what righteousness means, why none of us can produce it on our own, and how Jesus calls us beyond the appearance of righteousness into a real pursuit of him. From spiritual poverty to repentance, the sermon points back to the cross as the place where self righteousness ends and true satisfaction begins. "What if the very thing you've been searching for your entire life has been here all along?" Why does it often feel like something is missing? You achieve the goal. You reach the milestone. You find the relationship. You have the experience. Yet before long, the mind begins searching again for the next thing, the next answer, the next version of yourself that promises fulfillment. Beneath so much of our striving is a quiet belief that peace, happiness, or meaning exists somewhere else. In this profound episode of Soul Talk, Kute Blackson sits down with renowned consciousness teacher Peter Russell for a conversation that challenges some of our deepest assumptions about who we are, why we're here, and what truly matters. Drawing from more than five decades of exploring consciousness, meditation, and human awakening, Peter shares a refreshingly simple yet powerful perspective: beneath the noise of the mind, beneath the roles we play, and beneath the endless stories we tell ourselves, there is an unchanging presence that has been with us our entire lives. Together, they explore the nature of awareness, the deeper meaning of meditation, the human longing for connection, and why love may be far more fundamental to life than we realize. As the conversation unfolds, Peter offers a perspective that is both liberating and deeply grounding: perhaps fulfillment doesn't come from becoming more, but from removing the barriers to what is already here. If you've ever felt caught in the endless pursuit of something more, questioned the meaning of your life, or wondered what remains when everything else falls away, this conversation may help you discover that what you're seeking has been closer than you ever imagined. Timestamps (00:03:41) – What meditation really is (and what it isn't) (00:05:10) – Why doing nothing feels so difficult (00:07:00) – The secret to handling a busy, distracted mind (00:16:22) – The surprising benefits of meditation beyond stress relief (00:23:09) – The deeper self: who are you beyond your personality? (00:31:11) – Why are we here? Exploring the meaning of life (00:42:36) – Peter's powerful definition of love (00:47:21)– The two questions that may matter most at the end of life In This Episode, You'll Learn Why meditation becomes easier when you stop trying to do it The simple shift that quiets a restless mind The difference between your personality and your deeper self Why awareness may be the one thing that never changes What meditation can teach you about love, presence, and peace The profound question that gives life its deepest meaning Some Questions I Ask Who are you when you stop identifying with your thoughts? What if you've been searching for something that has always been here? Is there a part of you that has never changed? Why do we spend so much of life trying to become more? Hello to you listening in Singapore! Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga. One night Nasrudin was on his hands and knees under a street lamp. Friends finding him there asked: What are you doing? Nasrudin tells them he's looking for the keys to his house. His friends help him look for the dropped keys. This goes on for some time until one friend asks: Nasrudin, are you sure this is where you dropped them?  Oh no, Nasrudin replied, I dropped them across the road, but it was too dark to see; so I came over here where the light is better... Maybe like me this is how it goes for you, too: looking for Life in all the wrong places. But my Life knows me and where I should be headed; in time it nudges me in the right direction back to my true self.   Practical Tip: We can do ourselves a world of good to remember that our true selves began as open and curious, whole and wonderful. Instead of searching in the dark for how to become someone else, we could turn our face to the light of day and cherish the never before, never after, one-of-a-kind being we already are. Imagine that! You're always welcome: "Come for the stories - Stay for the magic!" Speaking of magic, I hope you'll subscribe, share a 5-star rating and nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, bring your friends and rellies, and join us! In this episode, we dive headfirst into the absolute circus that is dating after 35. If you thought the game was hard in your 20s, wait until you're trying to vet potential partners who have chronic back pain, a mortgage, and a rigid bedtime. We're breaking down why the apps feel like a digital dumpster fire and why "settling" starts to sound like a solid life plan. Then, we pivot to a spicy take on charity: why handing a homeless person a lukewarm granola bar instead of a five-dollar bill is, quite frankly, a total jerk move. We're dissecting the "kindness" we force on people who just need cash, and why your leftover sandwich isn't the life-changing gift you think it is. It's a wild ride through the complexities of modern romance and the questionable ethics of our own "generosity." Buckle up—it gets awkward.

Peace isn't found in a perfect schedule, a different relationship, or a quieter environment. It's already within you — waiting to be uncovered. In this guided meditation from Your Quiet Moment, we gently release the belief that calm is somewhere out there. Through breath awareness and compassionate inner reflection, you'll discover that stillness has been inside you all along. This session is ideal for anyone who feels exhausted from searching, who has tried everything external to feel settled, and who is ready to come home to themselves. Let this be the moment you stop looking and start arriving.

Today I have an on-air session with Christian Bevere, as we processed some of the mistakes she made during her dating days, including dating from places of insecurity, as well as the unrealistic expectations she placed on what dating was “supposed to” look like or feel like in that season of life. We then talk through how unrealistic expectations continue to play out, if we're not careful, even in marriage. We unpack how family dynamics and Christian culture can influence our perspectives on dating and relationships for both the good and bad, and how there can almost be a “desperation” for relationships, that lead us to looking for love in the wrong places. Qoheleth looks at the place of justice and finds wickedness there. He looks at the place of righteousness and finds wickedness there too. The oppressed weep and have no comforter; their oppressors hold all the power, and there is no comforter. He says it twice, and the repetition is the point. The dead are better off than the living, and better than both is the one who has never been born and never seen the evil done under the sun. Then he watches the lonely workaholic, the king who will not listen, and the crowd that follows the next new thing and forgets the old one.  The Rev. Dan Grimmer, pastor of Zion Lutheran Church in Mitchell, SD, joins the Rev. Dr. Phil Booe to study Ecclesiastes 3:16–4:16.  To learn more about Zion Lutheran, visit zionmitchell.org. What does a man gain from all his toil under the sun? Solomon asked that question three thousand years ago, and it still cuts. Ecclesiastes is the Bible's most unflinching book about work, wealth, wisdom, and the ache nothing in this life can fill. It is also one of the most pastoral, because the Preacher tells the truth about death, time, and meaning without leaving the reader in despair. Pastor Booe and guest pastors from across the Synod study it verse by verse, following Solomon's argument to where it finally lands: fear God and keep His commandments.  Thy Strong Word, hosted by Rev. Dr. Phil Booe, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church of Luverne, MN, reveals the light of our salvation in Christ through study of God's Word, breaking our darkness with His redeeming light. Each weekday, two pastors fix our eyes on Jesus by considering Holy Scripture, verse by verse, in order to be strengthened in the Word and be equipped to faithfully serve in our daily vocations. Born in 1968 in Fargo, ND, during the Baby Scoop Era, Greta spent a month in foster care before being adopted. She was never touched or held by her first mother. Greta was raised in a dysfunctional family, which contributed to her pain and the deep loss she felt, wondering who her first mother was and why she didn't want her. Shrouded in secrecy, adoption was never discussed, and Greta retreated into the Ghost Kingdom — finding refuge in basketball and creativity. Greta received a full-ride college basketball scholarship and majored in theatre, people-pleasing, and perfectionism. She was plagued by feelings of loneliness. She found her first mother and father in 1989 and learned her first mother had had her at 16 and had been sent to a home for unwed mothers. Greta has two full-blood siblings and two half-brothers. Reunion was initially a fairytale, and although that ended abruptly, she stayed in reunion for over 30 years. She is currently estranged from her first mother and her sister. Greta has worked as an actor in Los Angeles and Phoenix and spent many years in the public defender system as a paralegal. She lives in Phoenix with her husband and rescue dog, Gilda, and credits the connection with other adoptees as lifesaving. Greta has been in recovery from anorexia since 2022. In today's Gospel Jesus encounters a Samaritan woman at Jacob's well. The woman's need to visit the well every day is a symbol of her fundamental thirst for love (which is also evidenced in her having had five previous husbands and a current live-in boyfriend -- she is looking for love in all the wrong places)! But, after encountering Jesus, she goes back to town and leaves her water jug at the well, a symbol of her thirst having been quenched. She won't need to keep returning to the water that does not satisfy (nor to the men who did not satisfy). She has found the living water! And the One for whom she has always been searching.

In this message Pastor Chad Veach kicks off a brand-new series titled “Looking for Love in All the Wrong Places,” teaching from 1 John 4:19 “We love because He first loved us.” Before we can love well, date well, or build a great marriage, we must first learn how to receive the love of God. In this powerful and practical sermon, Pastor Chad explains the difference between living water love and broken cistern love, showing how so many of us chase attention, affection, and cheap substitutes that leave us dry and empty. From the woman at the well to King Saul forcing outcomes, this message challenges us to stop trading real love for cheap likes, stop forcing what should be faith, and start trusting God's direction over our own desires. When you receive the Father's love first, everything changes your relationships, your standards, and your future. If you've ever felt empty, overlooked, impatient, or tempted to settle, this word is for you. At Zoe, our mission is simple: People Saved, Disciples Made, Leaders Raised, and The Church Released. Through every service, we seek to share the love and hope of Jesus, impact lives, and see transformation in communities in Los Angeles and around the world. There are many spiritual battles that we will face in our lives, whether related to our own growth, parenting our children, or seeing someone come to Christ. The problem is that we often try to fight these battles out of our own strength, rather than relying on the power that God supplies. In this week's message from 2 Corinthians 10, Pastor J.D. shows us the importance of being properly equipped for any spiritual battle—and it begins with things like prayer, saturating ourselves in the Word, and depending on the Holy Spirit.

Greta Handgis (Fadness) is a domestic same-race adoptee adopted through Lutheran Welfare Services in a closed adoption in 1968. She was relinquished immediately at birth and spent no time with her teenage biological mother. After a month in foster care, she was adopted. She was raised in a family with a younger sister, who was also adopted, and an older brother, who is the only biological child of her adoptive parents. She is in reunion with both her paternal and maternal families but is estranged from her birth mother after a 30-year relationship. She has two full-blood siblings, two half-blood siblings and is extremely close to her maternal aunt. Greta earned a degree in theatre and played NCAA women's basketball on a full-ride scholarship. After college, Greta spent 10 years as an actor in Los Angeles before moving to Phoenix in 2001. She is a playwright, actor, acting coach and a former paralegal in the public defender system in Phoenix. She recently wrote and performed her award-winning one-woman show "Searching for Me in All the Wrong Places” in Los Angeles and is currently developing a new one-woman show that focuses on her adoption story as well as integrating other voices that make up the adoption constellation. In recovery from anorexia, Greta hopes that through her art she might help someone feel a little less alone as well as bring awareness to those who don't know or understand the complexities of adoption and the challenges it can cause. Creativity, connection and community have been so healing in her navigating her own path, and also having an amazing husband, rescue dog and therapist doesn't hurt either.Website: https://gretafadness.com/https://events.adoptionmosaic.com/wte-reg-disordered-eatinghttps://www.eventbrite.com/e/live-podcast-event-with-atmom-special-guests-tickets-1413096101479Music by Corey Quinn

You might be surprised to learn that the Bible doesn't just endorse safe, practical relationships - it celebrates the kind of dizzying, movie-like romance that makes you want to build a whole life with someone. In this episode, we explore:* Why biblical love is both wild AND wise (it's not either/or!)* The difference between building a marriage vs. just being roommates* Why we miss out on crazy love (hint: it's about covenant, not just feelings)* How to know when it's the right time to "awaken love"* What separate bedrooms and delayed intimacy reveal about our hearts* Why God's design for relationships leads to the deepest satisfactionWe also discuss how our relationship with Christ mirrors this passionate love - He's both the "safe choice" and the "wild" lover of our souls who went to crazy lengths to pursue us.Whether you're single, dating, engaged, or married, this episode will challenge you to see God's design for love in a fresh way and help you understand why doing relationships His way leads to the kind of romance movies try to capture.Recorded on location in the mountains of Kauai

"I suddenly knew that I had invited something bad into my home. It knocked and I would splash holy water at it. It would move and knock again. I said, I am a child of God, and you have got to go! "  --------- In this episode of Touched by Heaven, I talk with Ashley, who grew up Catholic but found it all a bit… boring. In her search for something deeper, she stumbled into the New Age. Ashley bought and read all that she could about—crystals, tarot, mediums. What followed was a spiritual darkness—things moving and knocking in the night, a daughter tormented by unseen forces, and chaos in her home. Everyone said she just needed a good cleansing… but something told her otherwise. It was time to go back. With a rosary in hand, a little help finding a miraculous medal from St. Anthony, and one powerful confession, everything changed. But how? Let Ashley tell you. ---------- Bishop Robert Barron - These Items Attrack Demons in Your Home:  https://youtu.be/RKRsxAF3b7U?si=CH14lFZomo8gkZQv  ---------- Share Your Story If you have a Touched by Heaven moment that you would like to share with Trapper, please leave us a note at https://touchedbyheaven.net/contact Our listeners look forward to hearing about life-changing encounters and miraculous stories every week.
