This is week two of our new sermon series, Identity Crisis: Becoming Who We Are, Together In Christ. We're exploring the God-given longings we all experience and how, in intimate relationship with Jesus, and in the context of healthy community, those longings can be most deeply and fully met. This week we'll look at the longing for affection. We often think of affection as physical attention... hugging, hand-holding, a pat on the back. But real affection is so much deeper than being "touchy-feely." To have affection toward someone is to set your heart and mind on being for another. To care with intention and love without condition. God has set His affections on us; He delights in who we are, just because we are His. And we are called to do the same for one another. ----------------------------------- TAKE YOUR NEXT STEP ----------------------------------- Let us know that you were watching with us and you will be entered to receive a free prize by completing our Connection Card: http://dsf.church/ecard Give Online: https://www.simplechurchgiving.net/App/Giving/dsf Message Notes: https://www.dayspringfellowship.com/messages Like, comment & subscribe to stay updated! We get together to review all the week 2 action after a thrilling slate of games....well mostly. We kick off with that unexpected slobberknocker between the Cowboys and the Giants, we gain more yards on the Jets than they did vs the Bills and question if the Eagles even needed to get out 2nd gear to beat the Chiefs. All that, and more, including a look ahead to a fascinating week 3

Greta Handgis (Fadness) is a domestic same-race adoptee adopted through Lutheran Welfare Services in a closed adoption in 1968. She was relinquished immediately at birth and spent no time with her teenage biological mother. After a month in foster care, she was adopted. She was raised in a family with a younger sister, who was also adopted, and an older brother, who is the only biological child of her adoptive parents. She is in reunion with both her paternal and maternal families but is estranged from her birth mother after a 30-year relationship. She has two full-blood siblings, two half-blood siblings and is extremely close to her maternal aunt. Greta earned a degree in theatre and played NCAA women's basketball on a full-ride scholarship. After college, Greta spent 10 years as an actor in Los Angeles before moving to Phoenix in 2001. She is a playwright, actor, acting coach and a former paralegal in the public defender system in Phoenix. She recently wrote and performed her award-winning one-woman show "Searching for Me in All the Wrong Places” in Los Angeles and is currently developing a new one-woman show that focuses on her adoption story as well as integrating other voices that make up the adoption constellation. In recovery from anorexia, Greta hopes that through her art she might help someone feel a little less alone as well as bring awareness to those who don't know or understand the complexities of adoption and the challenges it can cause. Creativity, connection and community have been so healing in her navigating her own path, and also having an amazing husband, rescue dog and therapist doesn't hurt either.Website: https://gretafadness.com/https://events.adoptionmosaic.com/wte-reg-disordered-eatinghttps://www.eventbrite.com/e/live-podcast-event-with-atmom-special-guests-tickets-1413096101479Music by Corey Quinn

We are living through intense division in our society. But the problem of division is not unique to our time. The first book of the Bible, Genesis, is filled with division. In this sermon series, “Jacob: God's Hope for a Divided People," we will study the story of Jacob (Genesis 25-48) to consider the great hope God gives us for redemption and reconciliation across seemingly irreconcilable differences.

Song of Solomon 1:16 - 2:7Introduction* Recording from the mountains of Kauai - a place of beauty and peace* This is sermon #4 in the Song of Solomon series* Topic: "Crazy Love" - the passionate, movie-like love we see in ScriptureI. What Crazy Love Looks Like (1:16-2:3)A. Beautiful and Delightful (1:16-17)* "You are beautiful, my beloved. Truly delightful"* Their "couch is green" - outdoor intimacy in God's creation* Building a life together with quality materials (cedar, pine)* Crazy love says "I want to start a life with you, not just be roommates"B. Standing Out Among Others (2:1-3)* She: "I am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valley" (I'm ordinary)* He: "You are a lily among brambles" (You stand out to me)* She: "He is like an apple tree among forest trees" (He stands out to me)* This is the "only eyes for each other" kind of love we long forC. Protection and Provision (2:3)* "I sat in his shadow" - finding protection and provision* "His fruit was sweet" - enjoying his care and leadership* Crazy love includes a man's commitment to protect and provideII. Why We Miss This Kind of Love (2:4-6)A. We Look for Joy in the Wrong Places (2:4)* "He brought me to his banqueting house" - the place of joy and celebration* We seek joy in money, power, fame instead of relationship with Christ* We fly different banners over our lives instead of His banner of loveB. We Choose Pleasure Over Covenant (2:5-6)* "I am sick with love" - she's lovesick but chooses to wait* "Sustain me with raisins" - being practical instead of giving in to desire* We go straight to pleasure instead of building on covenant* Same with our relationship with God - we want feelings without the gospel's hard truthsC. We Don't See the Full Picture (2:6)* "His left hand under my head, his right hand embraces me"* She's thinking about their whole life together - spiritual, physical, financial* We focus on just one aspect instead of the complete person/relationshipIII. How can the Church fulfill it's potential if it is not in the right place?
Rob's sermon is titled, "Looking for Self in All the Wrong Places."
"I suddenly knew that I had invited something bad into my home. It knocked and I would splash holy water at it. It would move and knock again. I said, I am a child of God, and you have got to go! " --------- In this episode of Touched by Heaven, I talk with Ashley, who grew up Catholic but found it all a bit… boring. In her search for something deeper, she stumbled into the New Age. Ashley bought and read all that she could about—crystals, tarot, mediums. What followed was a spiritual darkness—things moving and knocking in the night, a daughter tormented by unseen forces, and chaos in her home. Everyone said she just needed a good cleansing… but something told her otherwise. It was time to go back. With a rosary in hand, a little help finding a miraculous medal from St. Anthony, and one powerful confession, everything changed. But how? Let Ashley tell you. ---------- Bishop Robert Barron - These Items Attrack Demons in Your Home: https://youtu.be/RKRsxAF3b7U?si=CH14lFZomo8gkZQv ---------- Share Your Story If you have a Touched by Heaven moment that you would like to share with Trapper, please leave us a note at https://touchedbyheaven.net/contact Our listeners look forward to hearing about life-changing encounters and miraculous stories every week. Resurrection Sunday Morning Service, April 20, 2025Message: Looking In All The Wrong PlacesPassage: Luke 24:1-8Speaker: Pastor Eric Johnson
Let's be honest: We've all searched for love, hope, and meaning in places that have left us feeling empty. But what if the love we've been looking for has been looking for us all along? This Easter, our message tells the REAL story of a love that broke through locked doors, graveyards, fear, doubt, and failure, and STILL shows up today. Watch this message on the Authentic Life Fellowship Facebook or YouTube channel. If you "like" our page, you will receive a notification when we go live each Sunday at 9 and 10 a.m. CDT. Pastor Jimmy's teaching notes are available upon request. Please email him at authenticlifefellowship@gmail.com.
Three Days: Looking For Love In All The Wrong Places, Luke 24:1-12 w/Darren Tyler
It goes against every human instinct to admit that you can't do it, that you need help, that you're weak or incapable. Our proud hearts really struggle to admit those types of things. Yet as a sinner, you just can't work your way out of the judgment of God on your own. Today Pastor Ricky will explain how Jesus, the King of All, humbled Himself, came to earth to serve you, and give His life as a ransom for yours. You must bow your knee in humility and let Jesus serve you in this way. Let Him save you. Iit's why He came.
Those considered great in this world are the rich, the super talented, and the famous. They're envied and admired. But as Pastor Ricky will explain today, society's definition isn't God's definition, nor is the pursuit of that type of greatness what God desires for you. Longing for worldly greatness leads only to ruin and God sees the posture of your heart. He knows if you want to be great in the eyes of the world. Instead, he longs for you to look to Jesus, to humble yourself, and to seek to serve others. That's what will make you great in God's eyes.
There's probably no more common search among all humanity than for the meaning of life. So, as believers, we have the answer dialed in, right? Let's see what the book of Ecclesiastes has to say on the subject. Ecclesiastes 1 Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
Where can wisdom be found? That's a question that still echoes today. We live in an age where the world's knowledge is at our fingertips. Has it made us more righteous, more just, or more at peace? Job sees this dilemma clearly. Humanity has mined the depths of the earth, uncovered hidden treasures, and mastered incredible feats—but wisdom cannot be bought, bargained for, or unearthed like gold and silver. So where does wisdom come from? Job's answer is profound: “The fear of the Lord—that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.” The Rev. John Shank, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Edwardsville, IL, joins the Rev. Dr. Phil Booe to study Job 28. Why do the righteous suffer? That's the burning question at the heart of the book of Job—one of the most profound and challenging books in all of Scripture. From a Lutheran perspective, Job's story isn't just about a man enduring unimaginable hardship; it's about wrestling with God's will, grappling with well-meaning but misguided advice, and ultimately finding comfort in God's grace rather than human understanding. As Job's friends offer simplistic answers, Job demands the truth, and God's response reminds us of His infinite wisdom and mercy. Through it all, we see glimpses of Christ—the truly innocent sufferer—who redeems our pain and points us to the cross, where suffering meets salvation. Join us as we journey through Job, confronting tough questions about faith, suffering, and God's mysterious ways with hope grounded in Christ alone. Thy Strong Word, hosted by Rev. Dr. Phil Booe, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church of Luverne, MN, reveals the light of our salvation in Christ through study of God's Word, breaking our darkness with His redeeming light. Each weekday, two pastors fix our eyes on Jesus by considering Holy Scripture, verse by verse, in order to be strengthened in the Word and be equipped to faithfully serve in our daily vocations.
