Love it or hate it, the casino buffet is a mainstay of the Las Vegas experience, for tourists and locals alike. First up, writer Cindi Reed (who writes under the name C. Moon Reed) gives us the historical lowdown, starting from the very first casino buffet in the 1940s. After that, we head to AYCE at The Palms, where we meet up with Yelp Elite member and buffet fanatic LJ Riofta (seriously, he eats at a buffet at least once a week—this guy's a pro). We learn important buffet tips, like limiting yourself to one drink so you can fit in more food. And last but not least, we talk to Sarah Stallard, the farm manager at Las Vegas Livestock, a pig farm about 30 minutes north of the city that takes in 20 tons of food waste daily, much of it from buffets. Here we learn just how our leftovers gets put to good use, and why not all buffets are quite so bad at food waste as you might think. This episode was produced by Sonja Swanson, and the music was composed by Jeremy Klewicki.

Judd is one of our favorite friends and our go-to for any concert availabilities we have. His amazing hair and contagious laugh have nothing on his outstanding character. You probably know him because he’s a student here at Liberty and he’s also a part of the Liberty Worship Collective, BUT did you know he’s been crowned the King of Lynchburg? Tune in to our latest SA Conversations episode to hear us chat with Judd about how he became the King, his experience at Liberty, his hometown of Okeechobee, Florida, his passion for making music, and of course, why he thinks Applebee’s is amazing.

Kaitlyn and I love food; take that above photo of us as proof. We’re often conflicted about leaving reviews for restaurants, however. Kaitlyn has never written a Yelp review, whereas I’ve written only one. We worry about reviews as a whole. Should everyone be a reviewer? Are people good? Do they want to intentionally ruin each others’ livelihoods? For this week’s episode of Why’d You Push That Button, we look into restaurant reviews and why people leave them. We talk to a Yelp Elite member, Dominek, as well as a restaurant owner named Benham about how Yelp affects their lives. Then we take our questions to Brian Boshes, product manager of contributions and community, who explains why he thinks people leave reviews and whether they’re tearing apart the fabric of our society.
