For our latest iteration of the Local Selection, we welcome a legendary Irish vinyl DJ, Aoife Nic Canna to the series. Her contribution acts as the 292nd edition, where she sifts through her library, sharing various old school deep cuts in house and adjacent genres. Aoife has established a significant legacy during her 30+ years as a DJ. Acting as a central force in the Irish dance music scene since its first moves in the early 1990's. She was a founding member of the seminal Horny Organ Tribe. Dubbed the 'first lady of Irish house', she earned regular appearances at culture-defining nights and institutions like Cork's Mór Disco, Dublin's Temple of Sound, and Manchester's Hacienda. Continuing to hold several residencies across Ireland over her expansive career, she has, since Covid lifted, returned to playing regularly across Ireland. Some notable venues include Connollys of Leap, Opium, Hen's Teeth, Izakaya, The Bernard Shaw and Pawn Shop. Some other accolades include support for Inner City, spinning at Ealú le Grá and Paradise Lost in Ibiza, Carl Cox for District 8 and perhaps the biggest of all, supporting Soft Cell and OMD at St. Anne's Park to an audience of 20,000 people. Alongside DJing, in 2012 Aoife created and produced a six-part documentary on Irish club history called 'Folklore from the Dancefloor'. Listen here. Jose Guerrero was born & raised in Venezuela At the age of 10, his parents decided it was time to move to the United States & traveled to New York. After 3 years in the Tri state area, by the age of 13, Jose & his family relocated to Miami. After mixing it up with some of the wrong crowds & seeing the signs of a necessary change, by 19 he decided to join the army. There he completed just under 4 years while specializing as a diesel mechanic. Before he completed his tenure, Jose was diagnosed with testicular cancer. After foregoing, many procedures & committing to the chemo treatment, he eventually entered into remission and overcame the cancer. Yet, it occurred when his dad was diagnosed with cancer as well and it was already too spread out in his system to catch & cure. Soon after, he passed away. At this point, Jose had no true certainty as to what career he was interested in pursuing. This is when he got introduced to the Pawn Shop world. Here, he excelled for many years until he finally decided to open up his own. After several years of great success while raising a big ass family, he recently just opened up a second location. He's beloved by his community, because he's also known for always giving back, as well as continuously helping raise money for those less fortunate and in dire need of assistance. Soon enough, he'll be a star in a hit reality show following his Pawn Shops & Personal life.

Medical records from that day say her husband — pastor JP Miller — called one of Mica's mental health providers at 10 a.m. to say that Mica had stolen JP's credit card, snuck out of the house while he was sleeping, gone ot Dick's Pawn Shop that morning, purchased a gun, received a lesson on how to use it and then tried shooting herself in their front yard.
