In August of 2020 I started a deep dive into shame, as shame was the Big Boss of the level of life that I'm currently at. I'd gotten through all the minor level-bosses, but had only circled the remaining one, and a year ago, I was done circling. It was time to dive deep into it, and many a conversation with Alison have touched upon the topic of shame and what I've found while exploring and playing around with the concept and my own reactions, responses and reveals… One of them, have been my insight that I've been lax at honoring myself with saying Yes when I am a yes, and No when I am a no. All too many times I've done the opposite. Said yes when I really didn't want to, and no when I really did. It's kind of absurd to become aware of this pattern of mine, and especially so when I fully took in the fact that the more you mean to me, the harder it's been for me to honor myself and my wishes, needs, desires. In our fourth conversation, we speak a lot about this, me and Alison. She's easy to talk to, and I love how her mind connects dots that take our meanderings further afield, which is the very backbone of these conversations. Not knowing where we'll get to; not even having a defined starting point, besides showing up at the designated time and place. Alison asks me how I will know when I'm done with my deep dive, and… she makes me think. I don't know that I know what will make me say Done, but that piece about the Yeses and No's feels significant. Perhaps, I will be done with Shame, the Big Boss of the level of life I am at, when it's not my default to go against my own wishes, needs, desires? When the balance starts to shift, from a majority of Yes when no, No when yes, to more Yes when yes, No when no's? One of the dots Alison connects is a realization of the importance of knowing who you are for, or not. As a service provider, if you fumble and falter, going I'm probably not for you, you sure give off completely different vibes than when you state (because it is more of a statement, isn't it?) I am not for you. Or for that matter, I am most definitely for you. Clarity is kindness links these two threads, the Yes/No's and Who I'm for, because the clearer I am, to me, to you, the kinder I also am. And the easier it is to honor not just me, and my time and energy, but yours as well. This, and much more, in my fourth conversation with Alison, and surely, there will be some tankespjärn there for you as well. Links: Predictably irrational, book by Daniel Ariely

Keenan, Sandy. On this episode, I want to teach you how to create powerful podcast interviews like the pros. There are a few adjustments you can make to create a better interview. REASONS There are many reasons we interview guests on our podcasts. They are content experts They know more than we do Guests add depth to the conversation Interviews can expose your show to others Interviews can cross-promote your products Guests add additional content to your show If you are like me when I started, you probably feel a bit overwhelmed. I felt like I was a kid playing dress-up. Did I really belong with the professional interviewers? I wasn't big time. Impostor syndrome was definitely kicking in. You can learn how to be be more confident and create a better interview. We can avoid making fools of ourselves We can battle the impostor syndrome We can look smarter by surrounding ourselves with smarter people With just a few adjustments, you can take your podcast interview to a whole new level. Here are 7 tweaks you can make this week to deliver a better interview. BIO 1. You give their bio, not the guest. When you open the episode, it is your responsibility to provide your audience with the background of your guest. You know what the audience needs. Your guest is not familiar with your ideal target listener. The guest doesn't know what your audience needs to know to put the conversation in context. If you start the questions with "tell us a little about yourself", you guest has no idea where to start. She might begin with growing up in a small town and working in her mom's store. What does this have to do with your show? Introduce your guest with the details your audience needs to understand how the conversation will benefit them. Give your audience a reason to listen. Why did you invite your guest on the show? Begin there. STANDARD 2. Avoid the standard questions. If you want your interviews to stand out, ask unique questions. Avoid all of the standard questions every other interviewer asks. There are times when the guest will send you a list of potential questions. When you follow the script, you become common. Use those questions to create some great questions of your own. Standard questions result in standard answers. If you want a better interview, ask better questions. SET UP 3. Set up the question and then ask. Last week I made a trek to pick up my daughter from college and bring her home for the summer. On that 3-day drive, we were able to listen to quite a few podcasts. On one particular show, the host was interviewing a former wrestling star. The host is a big wrestling fan. Each time the host would ask a question, he would follow it with a bunch of framing. He would ask something like, "How do you find places to hold your seminars?" It was a solid question for the interview. Unfortunately, he followed it with a bunch of examples and what he would do to find speaking opportunities. When you follow your question with a bunch of framing, your guest forgets the question. Your listener forgets, too. Set up the question. Tell a little of your story. Then end with the question. LESS YOU 4. A little of you and a lot of them. That brings us to the fourth tip. Tell your story, but only a little bit. This is a fine line. You want to demonstrate a little of your authority. But, you want to make your guest the star. Give a little bit of yourself. This should only be 2 or 3 sentences. Your story could be part of your framing. Shine the spotlight on your guest. When they look good, you look good. LISTEN 5. Listen to the answers and ask great follow-up questions. So many podcasters are too concerned with their list of questions. They want to get through each question on their sheet. Stop worrying about your list and listen to the answers. When you listen, you will come up with great follow-up questions. That is where the magic lies. You really only need a few great questions. Use follow-up questions and you have a better interview. YES/NO 6. No yes/no questions. The sixth tip … You want to avoid yes/no questions. Questions that can be answered with yes or no, or can be answered with one or two words, the momentum of your interview dies. The conversation comes to a screeching halt. As open-ended questions that allow your guest to elaborate. STORIES 7. Get your guests to tell stories. That leads into the final tip. Get your guest to tell stories. Everything interesting is about people. When your guest tells stories, you develop a plot. It's a beginning, middle and end. Your interview becomes engaging. When your guest tells stories, your listener gets emotionally involved. As humans, we have learned through stories for centuries. Stories will transform your interviews in a powerful way. You will always have a better interview when you use stories. LIST If you want to supercharge your interviews, grab my 17 Ultimate Podcast Interview Questions. This week, the Consig made a call to center field in Philly & got an oddsmaker to get some reps with the boys.  THIS IS THE SHOW.  Ben Porter, a trader at Kambi Sportsbook, joins Dave, Carl and Neuby with the late May edition of the Cash Considerations Show.Listen as Ben tells the boys how he went from Newton, MA to the Kambi Sportsbook offices in Philadelphia. After playing baseball in college at Columbia, Ben joined the book as a trader and found his way to specializing in baseball betting. No longer tracking down fly balls like Gary Matthews Jr, Ben gives you a peek behind the curtain into what goes into taking bets and coming up with prop bets on a daily basis. Porter is a Boston guy who turned his love of the game into a gig and still loves watching day baseball. Taking the good with the bad, Ben does it without gloves and gives us all a tip you won’t forget.Porter  sticks around with the boys to talk sports, gambling and life. First stop is the NBA. The playoffs have begun, and there are not many surprises. The Nets and Sixers, the top seeds in the East, and Dallas, are all up 2-0. Dave fires from three and asks if they will sweep.  Ben, Carl & Neuby leave the brooms out of it even after they PLAY THE SONG. #AnybodyButTheNets is a thing, and Carl amends it to include the Lakers. Dave makes a case for his adopted team, the 76ers, to make the Finals. It’s a Yes/No for each, a couple hard fouls, and a realization that the Lakers are going to beat the Suns. The Stanley Cup playoffs are the best playoffs, and the “Pulling the Goalie” segment does not disappoint. Dave looked at each series, including how his Penguins lost to the Islanders and the sweeps in Canada and Colorado. Before he ran out of time talking about the Game 7 in Vegas, Carl had Neuby play a song, and even Porter was caught off guard talking about the Bruins win. The ice is good as the boys skate through this segment. The baseball talk, newly dubbed “Good morning , Good afternoon, Good night,” is all heat. Porter nails the first pitch right out of the park when Dave asks the boys about the Dodgers. Neuby asks for a pinch hitter, and Carl follows Porter in the order. Who will be favored over the Dodgers and when (they have been favored in 130 games straight)? Are the Giants for real? What about the Red Sox? You might be surprised by the Boston guys answers, but the numbers and the schedule say they may be right. There are no batting gloves, but it’s doubles and bombs, bruh, as Ben and the boys swing away.Lastly, the coordinating producer/social media manager/co host Carl H-A-S-C-A-L-L went with a favorite sports memory question on the “Carl’s Corner” segment of the show. Tell us your personal, best, repeat viewing games and highlights. Neuby went to the Birds, Ben had a catch and a fat guy kickoff return, Dave had a few in the ring, on the ice and on the diamond, and Carl circled it all back to 28-3 and the Pats. For the first time ever, the “Brady mention” prop cashed to the over & Carl nailed the read while the boys went down memory lane.As it always does, The Take a Minute segment closed the show on Cash Considerations. Carl gave thanks and shout outs for the show, Neuby served up some popcorn Philly style, Ben made a case for the decimal system, and Dave gave the Consig women each a shout out before he moved his shit to the Hamptons. Sit back, listen in & laugh a bunch to this hand treatment, end of May episode of the Cash Considerations podcast. Share/rate/review the show for a chance at $100 free bet.Follow the show @CashConsidShowFollow Dave @SportsBkConsigFollow Carl @CarlHascallFollow Neuby @NeubyTalksFollow Ben @Ben13PorterEmail us at CashConsidShow@gmail.com

Yes and no aren’t always the polar opposites we make them out to be. There can be hell yeses and hell noes, maybes, I don’t knows, and everything else in between. So how do we make decisions and speak our minds when the answer isn’t always simple? In this episode, Amy and Lauren discuss the yes-no spectrum, how we can give authentic answers and teach our children to do the same. In this conversation, we explore:The yes-no polarity misconception and how we can instead see yes and no as a spectrum, where one isn’t better than the other. Amy and Lauren’s personal journeys with yes and no.Tools to help us answer authentically and ways to support our children as they do the same. How giving authentic answers can help create and maintain healthy boundaries so that we can live our best lives.

Matt and Courtney continue their "back to the beginning" talk with a good one - how do we use scoring scales appropriately in the classroom? And maybe even more importantly, how do we teach the teachers how to do this? We call back to the Yes/No game we did last year as a way to introduce this concept to teachers, and how we can build their skills while changing their mindset.

Paradigms are the patterns, the containers, the models from which we live our lives! Right/ Wrong, Yes/ No, Inner/ Outer. We all have heard the idea of a paradigm shift, but what does that actually mean in your life? What is a paradigm that influences your life and why shift it? As adults, we begin to automate parts of our lives, so, by looking at our understanding of these paradigms, we see where we can take back power and agency from paradigms that no longer serve us as they might have at one time in our lives. Living beyond the realm of Right & Wrong!! Witness when you live from a space of no inner/ outer paradigm!! Speaking with an honest YES - and there is only receiving happening in your life.

Hi, thanks for joining us! This is Bonnie Wallace, author of The Hollywood Parents Guide, Young Hollywood Actors, and Top Hollywood Acting Teachers, and today my guest on this podcast is television director Jody Margolin Hahn.   Jody started her career working with sitcom writers. She has directed over 150 episodes of television, including The Conners for ABC, Call Me Kat and The Cool Kids for FOX, One Day at a Time, Fuller House, Mr. Iglesias, Alexa & Katie, and others for Netflix, Nickelodeon and The Disney Channel. She recently completed her first short film, "Yes/No" and directed the pilot and multiple episodes of the Netflix series, The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia. She’s a member of the Director’s Guild of America.   We discuss how she started directing, what it really takes to direct TV, differences between multi-cam and single cam shows, what she looks for in an actor, advice for auditions and self-tapes, advice for parents of young actors as well as for young actors themselves, and MUCH more. Join us!   Some of my favorite quotes from our conversation:   “I was that kid who put on plays in the backyard. I was the star, and the director, and made my sister play the boy and my neighbor the tree.” “I realized I didn’t want to be in the writer’s room; I wanted to be with the actors, in rehearsal and on stage.” “It starts with the script… I visualize how I’m going to make these scenes work.” “If you know how to tell a story visually, and work with actors, and edit, then you can do single-cam.” “To me, it’s more difficult to do multi-cam because you’re working with 4 cameras all the time and it’s very fast-paced.” “I think it’s easier to go from multi-cam to single-cam than it is to go from single to multi.” “It’s always fun to step out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself.” “I look for actors who aren’t afraid to make choices, who come in prepared, who are collaborative and willing to make adjustments and play. Who are giving to other actors.” “I like actors who are kind and come into a project because they want to be there.” “Be confident. Walk into that room assuming you’ve already got the job.” “You don’t know what they’re looking for. And sometimes THEY don’t know what they’re looking for.” “If you want to direct, then direct. Write something and direct your friends in it.” “More and more people are getting opportunities that have never had opportunities before, and that’s a great thing.”   Follow Jody Margolin Hahn HERE:   Instagram:                  @jodyfm        Website:                     https://jodyhahn.com/
