Dialed In Podcast 013 ~ Prana & Pranayama: The Vital Life Force Within

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 14, 2021 36:20

Prana can be defined as vital or bio energy.  This vital force not only sustains the body, but also creation at every level. If prana were withdrawn from the universe, there wold be total disintegration.  All beings, living or non-living, exist due to prana.Scientific research describes prana as a complex multidimensional energy; a combination of electrical, magnetic, electromagnetic, photonics, ocular, thermal and mental energies. Everyone is born with a certain quantum of prana, but the quantity and quality change continuously, as one goes through life.  Positive thoughts, higher feelings and yogic practices generate higher levels of prana. Prana flows within and around the body, keeping every system, organ and cell of the body alive and active.  The physical body works ceaselessly to maintain a state of balance or homeostasis, sustained and supported by prana.  Thus, maintaining the integrity of prana requires constant care and attention.  When there is vitality in the pranic body, the whole body and mind remain vitalized and nourished and homeostasis is supported.  On the other hand, when energy is depleted, the body and mind are affected and imbalance occurs.  It is explained in the texts that imbalanced prana leads to physical disease.  If prana is blocked, depleted or excessive, disease results.  The understanding of the nature of prana and the holistic approach in relation to healing the physical body can be found in many ancient civilizations.  For example, traditional oriental medicine is one healing system that reflects a thorough understanding of the prance body and it's interconnectedness with the physical body.  Pranic healing, the science and art of healing with energy, is another healing system.  It has been used for millennia.  Originally, pranic healing was only known and practiced by a chosen few: the yogis, shamans, medicine men, and traditional healers.  The knowledge and art was transmitted directly from master to disciple, often involving a series of initiations or energy transmissions. In this episode, we talk about Prana vidya and Pranayama.  Prana vidya, literally “the science of the life force”, has been a part of every spiritual tradition since time immemorial.  References can be found in the Upanishads, dating back to 500 BC.  The practices of pranayama have been know in India for over 4000 years.  It has been mentioned in many of the main texts of yoga including the Upanishads, the Bhagavad Gita, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Gheranda Samhita and Hatharatnavali.  It is said that prior to being “written down” these practices were passed on through oral tradition.   Now, through the yogic renaissance that has come forth in the past few decades, asana, meditation and pranayama have become household names; however the real depth of these practices remains unexplored for most practitioners.  Both pranayama and prana vidya require various practices to prepare and maintain the body, mind and pranas, especially prana vidya, and should only be attempted under the guidance of a guru or very experienced yogic master who really understand this system.More information hereCourse details here

In 2003, Avo was hospitalized with pericarditis, an inflammatory reaction that had doctors extract almost 2 litres of fluid from around his heart. During this time, he had a great heart awakening that had him question his path in life in an egocentric world. A cycling accident in 2010 had Avo sprawled on the road during his morning commute facing an existential question of "who am I?" That rock bottom moment on the road led Avo to a 12 day Vispassana meditation retreat where he gained the ability to heal himself through a deeper than ever insight of the world inside him.Avo tells us his story of building his own frequency machine and the effects of different frequencies on the body. He talks about the aura, the human energy field, and how important it is to be careful when working with energy devices. He shares with us that the frequency work was a blessing in disguise, and how it helped him understand more about the body and the mind and the human energy system. He talks about how his experience with pain, disease and inflammation has helped him understand and identity with other people that are suffering with chronic pain. He stresses how important it is to know deep down that your body has the ability to heal itself, and that one has to have patience.***View episode with full notes on the websiteDialed In PodcastDialed In on Instagram

The work of Jake Kobrin is psychedelic, unusual, dark, beautiful, and elegant. His work seeks to illuminate experiences which Jake has had that are outside of the realm of normal waking consciousness, moving into numinous and visionary realms with natural ease. His work explores the interplay of shadow and light, both in the delicate modelling of the forms of his pictures but also in the character of the subjects he portrays, his work showing a willingness to embrace all aspects of emotion from revelation and peace, to fear and disharmony. He considers himself an "inter-dimensional midwife and conduit" believing that the role of the artist is to be able to move outside of themselves and to act as a conduit for higher consciousness to move through them. In this way he says, "I do not claim authorship for any of the works of art I have painted. I am a channel for Great Spirit to create through me." He currently lives in Ubud, Bali and he grew up in San Francisco. He is one of the few psychedelic artists with a formal classical art education, having studied classical realist drawing and painting in Florence, Italy at the Angel Academy of Art. He is also a tattoo artist, and is inspired by the traditional ceremonial contexts that ancient cultures held around tattooing. He is honoured to bring people through the ancient rite of passage of being tattooed in a way that is intentional and reverent. Besides painting and tattooing, Jake is also the founder and designer of a jewelry and fashion brand called Medicine Dragon Designs, and is a DJ and musician, as well as a published writer, speaker, and podcaster. To learn more about Jake, please see his website at: www.jakekobrinportal.com/For more information on his course: www.unleashyourinnerartistcourse.com/Instagram: www.instagram.com/_.kobrin._/***Dialed In with ShannonSpirituality, Consciousness, MeditationLife, Love, LaughsOn the Web #dialedinpodcastwww.shannonsmadella.com/dialed-inwww.instagram.com/dialed_in_podcast/
