This week, Harmony and Russell sit down with the dynamic and deeply grounded Amy Kokoszka—a Polish-Canadian Ashtanga Yoga teacher living in Ireland—whose journey weaves through Sivananda, Hatha, and eventually, Ashtanga yoga. But this conversation isn't just about yoga. Amy shares how the raw power of “Women Who Run with the Wolves” inspired her to create healing spaces for women through story, circles, and breathwork. She speaks candidly about the physical and emotional upheaval of perimenopause, the loss of her business during the pandemic, and how weight training helped her reconnect to her strength—literally and spiritually. We dive into what it means to be a “deviant” in a tradition-bound practice, how yoga becomes a ritual of remembering, and why sometimes the soul doesn't guide the body—the body guides the soul. This episode is a heartfelt reminder that our bodies, our stories, and our strength are sacred. Whether you're navigating hormonal shifts, looking to reclaim your power, or seeking community, Amy's voice is a balm and a rallying cry. In this episode, we talk about: Amy's multicultural upbringing and how it shaped her identity The journey from Hatha and Sivananda yoga to Ashtanga Reclaiming personal power during perimenopause How lifting weights revitalized Amy's yoga practice The sacredness of women's circles and storytelling Navigating injury, spondylolisthesis, and adapting the practice Breathwork as a tool for release, resilience, and self-connection Challenging orthodoxy in yoga traditions The influence of Women Who Run with the Wolves on Amy's path Balancing discipline with wild intuition Why rest, ritual, and reclaiming strength matter as we age   Learn more about Amy:  Amy Kokoska leads immersive women's retreats that integrate yoga, breathwork, and ritual. A seasoned yoga educator, retreat leader, and storyteller, she has over 20 years of experience in Ashtanga, Yin, and trauma-informed practices.   Rooted in the wisdom of Women Who Run with the Wolves, Amy weaves movement, mythology, and deep soul work to guide women on a journey of self-reclamation. She explores the vast space of Chitta Akasha (the inner sky of consciousness) where wild imagination, ancestral wisdom, and embodied movement meet. She previously owned a yoga studio and now devotes her work to leading retreats and deep-dive workshops that bridge ancient wisdom with modern embodiment practices. She is the founder of Women & Wolves, a workshop series exploring the Wounded Healer and Wild Woman archetypes through movement, storytelling, and ritual.   Ashtanga yoga was Amy's first love and remains the practice she continues to turn to for strength, discipline, and self-discovery. It deepened her relationship with self-practice, fostering resilience, devotion, and inner transformation. She also offers a monthly Primary Led Ashtanga class in Cork, sharing the profound power of the practice with her community.   Discover her work at hayokayoga.org.   Connect with Harmony:   Book a Clarity Call with Harmony: https://harmonyslater.as.me/Clarity-Session Find your Spiritual Archetype! Você deve renunciar a essas dependências”. Swami Chinmayananda. Love is seeing you. It's saying, 'it won't be long now. Things are going to happen so fast your head will swim, one thing fast on the heels of the other. You won't be able to keep up. Everything will be happening at once—and everywhere you look, blessings! -Amos 9:13-15 The Message (MSG) You just keep remembering where those things are coming from. You give thanks deeply, because you know Who they're coming from.  Like Rumi says, 'Do you want the sweetness of food or the sweetness of the one who put sweetness and food? The one who brought you here is still here. Give up fear. Give up this idea of lack, how can you lack when He's here? How can you hunger when He's here? How can you be lonely when He's here? That's all hypnotism. Everything that would have you believe He's not here, is hypnotism.  (everything that would have you believe that He is here, is also hypnotism, but we'll save that for another seeming day!)  I Love you nik  Support the show: ▶▶https://www.patreon.com/goodmornings "Meditate and become absorbed so that people will sense the 'ras' (Divine sweetness) in you, then you will have success." - Anandamayi Ma "As the heavenly water begins to surge from the spring deep inside us, it spreads and expands our whole inner being and gives rise to ineffable blessings. The soul herself cannot even understand what is unfolding here. She senses a certain fragrance, we could say, as if within the depths of her being there were burning coals sprinkled with sweet perfumes. We cannot see the light or locate the source of the fire, but the sweet-smelling warmth permeates the whole of the soul and maybe even spreads into the body. Try to understand what I'm saying. We don't actually feel heat or smell an aroma. The experience is far more delicate than that. Even if you have not gone through these things yourself, you must know that they really do happen. The soul perceives and understands this more clearly than my mere words could ever express. No matter how intensely we may crave spiritual delight, we cannot acquire it through our own efforts. It is not forged of the same metal that we are but is made from the purest gold of divine wisdom." - St. Teresa of Avila "Divine God and Guru, Give me the patience To wait quietly For spiritual sweetness." - Isha Das "To the degree that love for the Lord warms the human heart, one finds in the Name of Jesus a sweetness that is the source of abiding peace." - St. Seraphim of Sarov "You must learn to repeat the blessed Name of Rama with sweetness and such devotion that the birds and beasts will pause for a moment to listen to you; the very trees will bend their leaves towards you, stirred by the divine melody of that Name. And when you are able to do this, I tell you, I will come all the way on foot from Bombay as on a pilgrimage to hear you. In His sweet Name lies a power which can cure all our ills." - Sivananda  "...Then silence, and now more silence A mouth is not for talking. A mouth is for tasting this sweetness..."- Rumi "Do you want the sweetness of food or the sweetness of the one who put sweetness in foods..." - Rumi

Em 1936 fundou a “The Divine Life Society”.

Have you found success in tracking your income before your expenses, and if so, how has it impacted your financial stability? What methods have you used to increase your income beyond teaching classes? Do you prefer using budgeting apps or spreadsheets, and why? How often do you check your bank statements, and what insights have you gained from this practice? In what ways do you see parallels between budgeting and yoga, particularly in terms of consistency and adaptability? Have you been able to build a buffer of savings, and if so, what strategies have helped you achieve this? When do you think it's appropriate for yoga teachers to consider taking on part-time work, and how can one navigate the potential stigma associated with it? Have you ever negotiated rent for your teaching space, or explored alternative venues? What advice would you offer to others in similar situations? Lastly, how do you harness the power of your network and student referrals to grow your yoga community and increase your teaching opportunities?   Quotes from this episode: "It's OK to make income teaching yoga.'   "It's really helpful if people can actually sit down and look at the numbers and then make for themselves a clear decision. Is this something that I want to do full time all the time or is it something that I just wanna do sometimes?"   "Let's talk about different ways of approaching the financials of this business that are based in living our values rather than just ‘I made a beautiful abundance collage and the universe will take care of me'."   "The first step of budgeting is: what are my costs?"   "The budget will work for you if it works the way you work."   "If you're in a place where you can say I'm not gonna be too proud, all of a sudden now there's infinite opportunity."

Don't be an asshole When you're setting your new years resolution, don't be an asshole to yourself. If you never went to the gym in 2023, don't set a resolution of 2 hours at the gym every day in 2024. If you're just starting your business, don't set the resolution of $10k months or bust. New years is a powerful time to reflect and set intentions but what resolution would you suggest to your best friend. If she wanted to get in shape maybe you'd recommend going on hiking a few times a month or signing up for a weekly hip hop dance class with the teacher she loves. Or if you're starting a business your resolution could be to learn how to love yourself when you get rejected (because if you didn't already know rejection is a big part of sales and marketing!) My loving resolutions are: Love myself even if I make a mistake Have my own back even if I lose money, hurt someone's feelings or get rejected And trust that the universe loves me and has my back too These resolutions are going to lead to financial growth in my business because the more I do these things for myself, the more I'll be able to put myself out there and unabashedly help my ppl. But they're going to lead to the kind of financial growth I want. If my goal was just $10k months, I could get there by hustling and grinding and hating myself. I'd prefer to love myself towards more cash 2) Heal With every goal, you can hustle your way there or you can heal your way there. So for me, growing my business is my main practical goal or resolution. And I can do that by working harder, getting up earlier, doing a million cold calls and cold DMs.  Or I can do it by noticing that my anxious attachment from childhood gets triggered if a client wants to quit midway through their program. And then I can work on healing that inner child. Validating her rage about her parent who wasn't there when she needed them. Sit with her in her fear. Comfort her. Love her. And then come back to the client situation from a more grounded centred adult place that can see the situation as it is. That the client is making a choice and she's allowed to and to address it from there. When it's so exhausting if a client mentions quitting, unconsciously I don't want too many clients because then I have that cognitive load of what if they quit and I panic. The more I heal the panic, the more I'm willing to attract more clients. 3) Intuition All new years resolutions requires problem solving. If your goal is to go hiking a few times a month but when Sunday morning comes your bed feels extra warm and cozy and you don't actually go, you gotta pivot. So tune into your intuition and ask. I studied my own intuition intensely when I lived at Yasodhara Ashram which is in the Sivananda lineage. What I learned there is to tune into your intuition it can be helpful to take a few deep breaths, meditate or recite a mantra to centre yourself. And then ask your intuition what baby step you could take towards getting in better shape. Maybe the answer is that Sunday mornings are sacred cozy time and so instead you could go for a 20 minute walk in your neighborhood a few evening weeknights every week. Or maybe the response is to ask your best friend to join you on the hike because that'll make it more fun and motivating. Venkatesh describes how his upbringing in a religious Hindu family led initially to spiritual questioning about the nature of God and then to the practice of Transcendental Meditation.  Venkatesh discusses how he came to give up his successful career in business to follow a path of self-knowledge.He outlines the rigorous daily programme of work and study at the Sivananda ashram, where he followed a progressive path of both Jnana and Bhakti yoga. A spontaneous decision to visit the Ramana Maharshi ashram at Tiruvannamalai, resulted in him falling in love with Ramana's teaching and seeing that all the sages were saying the same thing – that this inward journey is the most important purpose of life.We go on to discuss a number of aspects of Ramana's teaching, including the basic ‘who am I' practice, how to overcome the frustration of thoughts that keep flooding back, and how to deal with blank states. He explains the importance of questioning, and the connection between questioning, openness and not-knowing. Supported by his faith in the teaching and a strong desire for liberation he describes how he discovered the unchanging, inner joy of living as pure consciousness, ‘an instrument in the hands of the Lord'.For more information on the Ramana Maharshi Centre for Learning, including access to Venkatesh's talks, visit their website http://www.ramanacentre.com/Support the showIf you are interested in exploring spiritual awakening, we invite you to register for our free 7 Days to Awakening self study course, created by Lisa Natoli and Bill Free.Learn more about the The Awareness Podcast and access show notes for every episode at: www.teachersofgod.org/podcastLearn more about The Teachers of God Foundation at: www.teachersofgod.org Original music by Omashar

Their Sunday ritual of exploring different yoga asanas together laid the foundation for a lifelong passion for yoga and a love for sharing its profound benefits with others. In the backdrop of Honduras, where yoga was once met with skepticism and misconceptions, Sol's perseverance and passion have contributed to its blossoming acceptance. Do you really know the power of your thoughts? While light travels at the rate of 1,86,000 miles per second, thoughts virtually travel in no time. Thought is finer than ether, the medium of electricity. If the mind dwells continually upon one train of thought, a groove is formed into which the thought-force runs automatically and such a habit of thought survives death and since it belongs to the ego, is carried over to the subsequent earth-life as a thought-tendency and capacity. Every thought has got its own mental image. The essence of the various mental images formed in one particular physical life is being worked out in the mental plane. It constitutes the basis for the next physical life. Just as a new physical body is formed in every birth, so also a new mind and a new Buddhi are formed in every birth. Not easy is the act of explaining the detailed workings of thought and destiny. Each thought is a link in an endless chain of causes and effects, each effect becoming a cause and each cause having been an effect; and each link in the endless chain is welded out of three components—desire, thought and activity. A desire stimulates a thought; a thought embodies itself as an act. Act constitutes the web of destiny.

Welcome to December 11, 2022 on the National Day Calendar. Today we celebrate stretching our limits and staying connected.  You may have heard that the key to a long life includes a healthy diet and plenty of exercise. While experts don't agree on what to eat one thing holds true: a quality life includes movement. If you need a little motivation, look no further than Swami Sivananda, the oldest living yoga practitioner currently on the planet. At age 126, Sivananda still manages to stretch for hours at a time without any assistance. He is free from any medical conditions and even finds time to give service to those less fortunate than himself. You may not feel that stretchy these days, but have no fear. Practitioner assisted-stretching is on the rise and may hold the key to some serious health benefits. On National Stretching Day, open your mind to what is truly possible.  In 1997, the Nokia 6110 phone introduced a simple arcade game called Snake, which is considered by many to be the first mobile app. Almost 10 years later the iPhone was released and with it, users could access nearly 500 apps. Today there are millions of apps available for purchase and its estimated that more than 935 billion dollars will be generated in app sales by 2023. From navigation to learning and even performing surgery, apps have transformed our everyday lives. While they've come a long way from that first game of Snake, they are still used to entertain us and keep us in touch with family and friends. On National App Day, celebrate the convenience of your favorite apps by sharing them with those you love.  I'm Anna Devere and I'm Marlo Anderson. Thanks for joining us as we Celebrate Every Day.

The Secret Witch Show
How to Listen Deeply to Your Body to Create Healing Magic

On the Secret Witch Show today, we have the wonderful Charlie Merton.  Charlie began teaching yoga in 2011 after a decade of self-practice.  Since then, her style has evolved into a slow, creative hatha and breath-based flow practice.  She offers a unique combination of integral practices in which people chant, breath, move and relax deeply into their bodies.  She has a Masters in Music Psychotherapy and is certified in various yogic disciplines such as Sivananda, Yin, Restorative yoga, Yoga nidra, pranayama, Kundalini and Tantra, as well as being a certified crystal and sound therapist.  She runs her own yoga practice in London and also enjoys playing her many gongs.   We dived into a *lot* in this show - from how we can be so disconnected from our bodies via trauma that we can't create healing magic, to how our bodies are a beautiful guidance system to be nurtured, that are simply inviting us to listen in.  Enjoy!   What You'll Learn from this Episode:   We can become very disconnected from our bodies in our trauma, and this leads us to dissociate and go away to some other planet.  It's a defense mechanism - a way of checking out - and it's common, often, especially when we feel *everything* so very deeply.   We can tell what's *for us* and what's *not* from the sensations in our body - often we ignore these, but even still, we *know* on a deep Soul level - we just often ignore it.  This might show up as us “asking for permission” for what's really aligned for us - e.g. Charlie shared her own unique experience of wanting permission from her parents to not get married - because we are so used to people pleasing - and often don't have enough faith in our own power. If we don't listen to our bodies, we will pay the price through the manifestation of dis-ease in the body - for example, being unable to breathe, suffering panic attacks and unpleasant sensations and illness - and even accidents that may “wake us up” - and crack us open At any point, though, we can begin again to learn to tune in and listen with our Body Guidance System - our heart compass - and trust our Soul's instincts to be able to feel into different things in life.  The way to listening in is really unique and individual, but we can begin to openly, lovingly and curiously listen to sensation as a messenger about the mystery of ourselves!  A good question to ask is: “how is my body responding to this?” - and we can ask this question of everything - including whether we are following our Soul's path.   We need to create safety for ourselves to feel everything - digesting our emotions is a practice - and emotional intelligence is a skill for life!  Bringing our awareness to basic level sensation is a powerful practice to create autonomy with our nervous system, and we get better at feeling - and welcoming all feelings - and working to our edge. Resources and things that we spoke about:   Charlie's Website: https://nadapriya.com/    Thank you for listening, we'd love to know what comes alive for you in this week's episode, so please let us know!    If you loved it, there's a fresh episode every other week - subscribe so you don't miss it!   Thank you,     Nicole xox

Brian Bergman is a qualified Vet who currently works from a Veterinary Practice in Khayelitsha. Although this in itself would be a fascinating conversation, we ended up not discussing it at all. Instead I learned that he almost gave up Veterinary, in today's conversation we will hear how a trip to Nepal would lead him to an Ashram in India. Brian would end up spending a year studying at the Ashram, learning meditation and practicing Sivananda and Karma Yoga, the latter is very much focused on ‘service', with the intention of becoming more aware of self and to grow.  Brian shares some stories from his time at the Ashram and we will learn how it would go on to shape his approach to life.On his return to South Africa, Brian attempted to move away from Veterinary but was drawn back rather quickly, this time able to approach it with a whole new mindset which would give him deeper fulfillment. He wanted to continue the practice of service he had learnt at the Ashram so he created a Prison Yoga Project which he ran with a partner for 10 consecutive years. This experience would prove to be hugely beneficial for the prisoners but was also a deep learning experience for him too.Brian talks about how the practice of yoga has evolved for him, to be a mindful practice that he sets about maintaining throughout his day, by being present, aware and connected to his surroundings. This is something he shared with the prisoners too, many of whom would end up completing Yoga Instructor courses whilst in prison. It was really fascinating to hear about the project.Brian talks about how a difficult breakup with his long time partner would see him briefly turn away from all the practices he had learnt. It was at this time that he properly discovered the healing process of dance. We hear about his journey with dance and how he has managed to combine yogic practices with dance, to create deep transformational experiences.I really enjoyed our conversation, we explore what it means to be human and how, by being of service, we can transcend aspects of ourselves to enjoy a richer experience of life.I know you will find great value in this episode.Sign Up to our ‘Podcast Portal' for access to show notes, exclusive content and special offers.Sign Up > www.awakentonature.comJOIN THE COMMUNITY:Instagram > @awakentonatureFacebook > @awakentonature
