Both Jay and I have walked through difficult seasons of life with separation, divorce, and single-parenting. Those periods provided a self-destruction of who we once were and asked us to question who we were moving forward. After finding each other and blending our families together we realized how…

Real quick, we live at Jess's IG and Tiktok lately, so it's the best place to find us and our activity of our lives and story after we felt the need to consolidate all of our platforms. instagram.com/jess_rush_norman Now back to this show! This one came on the heels of a mass shooting that occurred very near our home, while our children happened to be IN that very town without us at a trampoline park close by. As fear and worry has tried to drown all parts of us we desperately choose to seek gratitude, peace, and connection, instead. To the families that lost your loved ones, to the moms and dads that lost your little children-I wish this was a nightmare we could help shake you awake from. Our broken hearts sit right by yours, and will continue to do so for the rest of our lives.
Hi! It's me, Jess. I usually type these out in third person to sound, I don't know I guess a little more professional and savvy. This one, however is pretty important to me, and I'd like to take a moment to speak from the heart...well, because at this moment this heart is ready to "cut and run" as fear and shame bang at the door. You guys know that one of my hugest inspirations is Dax Sheperd and Armchair Expert, and this week he said, "I think we all have a fear in what being dead honest and dead vulnerable will result in, and generally we think it will result in embarrassment and shame but through practicing that for 15 years 100% of the time that I'm honest and own my fears what I see on other people is not like judgement or or or disapproval, it's recognition - always recognition." With Jay's help I have chosen to be "dead honest and dead vulnerable" and to go INSIDE the arena, no matter the cost. In this episode I share a secret with you all that I have held for a long time, and I pray our trust in this community continues to flourish as we Move On......Again. I love ya'll with everything I have. Jess - xoxo

Using their trials and discomfort to propel them forward, tighter knit, and to the heart of God. Matt shares his incredible story of addiction, surrender, and recovery - refering to Paige as his all time lighthouse, before they both explain how God used these lower than low points in their marriage to show them that they can no longer do this life alone. You are going to be so blessed while listening, as these two have such whole hearts that see the world in such a beautiful and helpful way-passing along incredible nuggets of wisdom without even trying! This one will change the way you think about several things, as Kenya and Michael bravely, and vulnerably pull back the curtain on a marriage under fire, and explain the heavy importance of communication and honesty within an intimate relationship. This one was quite important for Jess, as she dealt with one of her larger demons at the end of the show RIGHT before Jay attempts to get divorced from her! ;) https://www.instagram.com/kenyalanders/ https://www.instagram.com/navarrobulldogsad/

They want to share the amazing grace that has occurred once they've pushed through the difficult, and uncomfortable days. It's becoming quite obvious that the "easy" does not exist anymore, and/or gets them nowhere. Nowhere they want to go, more accurately! Surrendering their control after years of trying to obtain it, and learning how to love difficult people...knowing all the while that they too are quite difficult! www.instagram.com/jessie_rush_norman

Jess was also guest spot this week on The Lajoie Society Podcast and would love for you to give Other-Jessie a listen as she is bright, beautiful, and and a breath of fresh air that may or may not have a bit of a potty mouth, but they both feel it is needed here and there at times so.... In this episode, Jay and Jess get the extreme pleasure of interviewing the one and only Ashley Sloan. Ashley is a farmwife out of southern Oklahoma that has endured more in one life than anyone should, but she is here to tell her story of how God has worked it all for good in her life! This one was surely special, as Ashley is one of the best friends that surprised Jess in Jackson Hole that you all heard about in the last episode. In fact, Ash was the one that grabbed two toddlers and drove 19 hours to get to the party, providing Jess with her favorite moment/surprise of her life. They are certain you are going to come away from this one loving her as much as they do, which is a whole bunch! www.instagram.com/themrsmombod www.instagram.com/sloan_farms
Jay and Jess have FINALLY returned to the mics to pour out the contents of their hearts! Did they use a whole bunch of words? yep! Did all the words necessarily need to be used? nope! They discuss Jess turning 40 and the lies she believed about not having any friends to celebrate causing major anxiety for her big day. Meanwhile Jay was plotting with her three best friends to all meet up in Jackson Hole, Wy proving once again that Satan is a T-total idiot loser. www.movingonpodcast.com

Jay and Jess are back this week, a little late because of corn-plant, discussing several different topics that have come up around their home lately, and invite you to join them in further discussing these items! Being invited/included. Being famous to your family rather than social media followers. Becoming who you want to BE, NOW. The importance of putting your phone down. Instead of begging for a seat at someones table, building your own table. Leaving and cleaving from your parents after marriage, and how tough that can be. They also want to invite you to the Cultivating Courage Womens Retreat that Jess is going to be involved with. You can register below! We are back after a long bout with sickness, sore throats and lost vocals....well barely! In this episode the we try to gracefully discuss one of the lowest afternoons we have experienced since the very beginning of blending our family, if not THE lowest. We thought it was extremely important to share with all of you how the Lord came into our room and into our hearts to prevent what felt like "a world of hurt" in a matter of moments. We pray that you can hear our story and gain ground from it, also. We are here for nothing else besides you. Just you. We also want to give the hugest shout out to our sweetest fans, the Melissa 8a Lady Cards. Iyana, Emily, Delaney, Kate, Ira, Aeryn, Tori, Sammie, and Caylen you girls are the best teammates our Lily could ever ask for and we are HONORED to have you as the sweetest listeners we could ever hope for. This week Jay and Jess return from Hawaii on an exhausting red eye flight that sets the tone for a brutal, exhausting week of sickness and addiction deprivation. Looking back it wasn't their brightest idea, but hindsight is 20/20. They pray you guys can hear all about their idiocy and realize you are actually doing really great after all! Killing it, even!! The beautiful Bob Goff once said, "it's much easier to bring up a child in Christ than it is to fix a broken man". We've set out to teach our children the concepts of grace, humility and compassion at a much younger age than when we learned it! www.movingonpodcast.com
This week Jay and Jess speak with the King's Trail Cowboy Church head pastor, Jason Norton as he shares his incredible story of survival and growth throughout the most difficult seasons of his life. They have been counting the hours to share this powerful message of struggle and hope with all of you, and cannot wait to hear how each of you were blessed. This one is incredibly important, and they pray that each of you are ready and willing to hear what the Lord is wanting to say to you this week. It's never too late, too bad, or too far gone. The Lord is ready to welcome you home today!
It's back to just Jay and Jess this week, as they discuss anger issues within their marriage, in parenting, and in general life lessons. They talk about learning to study their anger for what it truly represents rather than riding the wave of rage into destruction. They're learning that Apocalyptic Arguments over the laundry probably have very little to do with the actual laundry and what they can do to smoke out the real issues. This way they can grow into healthier forms of personal growth and conflict resolution, further avoiding gigantic flames of "2nd marriage" annihilation. They also introduce and pass along a teaching from their pastor, John Mckinzie, to "draw a circle around yourself" and how helpful that can be when focusing so intently on the speck in their brother's eye while there is a plank in their own.(paraphrased Matt 7:5)
Jay and Jess host their very first guest, their dear friend, Jerry Searls as he describes his battle with alcoholism, and the destruction it brought to his life and family. This true survivor story will take you through the ups and downs of his life, to the deepest of the darkest pit, as he describes how he wasn't, of course, able to kick the habit on his own. He experienced the power of Christ with the Lord coming in and kicking it for him, changing him from the inside out to the loving, happy, crazy, fun-loving man they call their "brother" these days! By delivering Jerry from this disease, God preserved Jerry's beautiful family, and has allowed him to live to minister to others that may be experiencing the same things he was in the that season, helping them to find the direction and help they need. Jerry's story is one that you will want to pass along to anyone dealing with something that has caused them to not be able to fully manage their lives on their own any longer, whether it be food, drugs, alcohol, or anything else that can become addictive. They praise the Lord for delivering Jerry so that they can possibly vacation with him soon. :)
This episode barely made it to the editing table! Jay and Jess got a little sideways, said some things they wish they could take back, but they picked themselves up by their bootstraps, got it done and are moving on! This week they talk about comparisons, and how incorrect it is "to compare what we don't know about someone's lives to what we do know about our own". {That quote came from their pastor John Mckinzie at Hope Fellowship in McKinney, TX} Comparison can be the thief of all joy, and the Normans discuss what they can do to relearn healthier practices for themselves and their children. Jess gives an update to her asthma and anxiety, and shares what the sport of running has done for both. Somewhere near the end, Jay decides to recite his favorite poem and Jess nearly passes out because just last year Jay didn't even want his picture on the inter webs. She clearly asks, "what is even happening right now?!". As always, Jay and Jess finish up strong and make sure to send all of their listeners to their brother and sister podcasts: What the Farm? // {click here to listen} Sharkfarmer Podcast // {click here to listen} Midwest Farmwives Podcast // {click here to listen} And please head on over to Jay and Jess's website to learn more about what they are doing! {here}
In this episode Jay and Jess discuss the three reasons for their WHY for their podcast. They also share some of their favorite farm, life, and heart hacks. Near the end the discussion turns back to a recurring topic, physical fitness and it's beneficial role in fighting off stress, depression, and anxiety. When finished here, we would love to send you over to some other amazing podcasts, The Midwest Farmwives Podcast, Sharkfarmer Podcast/Radio, or What the Farm Podcast. www.movingonpodcast.com
Jay and I discuss the state of the Farming Industry and what some of our "heavy hitters" are doing on social media to shed light on our industry, the farms, and the families the farms represent! We also talk about the healthy ways we can "seek wise counsel" before making important decisions, and how detrimental it can be to constantly fly solo and make life-decisions based on feelings that are not fact!
We just returned from the best vacation we have ever had as the seven of us! Jay and I worked out the entire week! We spent time in the Word, in meditation, viewing sunsets/sunrises, talking to the Lord, talking to each other, and anything else that would help to "fill our cups" so that we could pour over the kids each day all day! Jay and I figured out a few things about our relationships with our stepchildren, and we ultimately came up with a plan to grow each of those relationships while leaving our own relationship unhindered. This week Jay teaches our male listeners what the "little things" can do for your wives, and consequently your marriage. www.movingonpodcast.com https://www.instagram.com/moving_on_podcast/ https://www.instagram.com/jessie_rush_norman/ https://www.instagram.com/norman_agriproducts/ https://www.facebook.com/graceandhumilitypodcast/ https://www.facebook.com/jessie.rushnorman
This is where I get stumped, this is my fifth draft. Do any of you actually read these, anyways? I am not great with grammar/spelling, and I use an awful lot of unnecessary commas. That makes me very self-conscious. It is hard for me not to be able to use emojis to complete my sentiments. Like incredibly hard. Jay has never had to sit down and write one of these, and he seems so happy. This episode is the FIRST one from the new studio. My favorite thing we discussed in this episode was how we walked through a situation that has caused an ugly fight between us 100% of the time, and THIS time it DID NOT. We break it down like game-tape! Did I ever tell you all how much I love you all? "Finally content with a past I regret" -Rascal Flatts "Let go of the expectation that if you work on yourself enough you won't struggle anymore. If you work on yourself enough you'll understand what the struggle is for" -Brianna Wiest www.movingonpodcast.com https://www.instagram.com/moving_on_podcast/ https://www.instagram.com/jessie_rush_norman/ https://www.instagram.com/norman_agriproducts/ https://www.facebook.com/graceandhumilitypodcast/ https://www.facebook.com/jessie.rushnorman
An early morning conversation about our week in the sweet corn field, and how to establish healthy habits by using your "sets"- things you do everyday without thinking about it. +Stepping into the shower and stretching. +Shutting the dryer door and calling your mom, dad, or sibling. +Flushing the potty and drinking a bottle of water. +10 deep breaths before laying down to go to bed. +Waking up and going on a run. +Putting your car into park and texting a friend to ask them about their day. "Gratitude turns what we have into enough" - unknown "Stop hating yourself for what your aren't and start loving yourself for what you are." - unknown We want to take our 6-Month Anniversary to tell everyone how thankful we are to all of you! We prayed for each of you, and HERE you are! We appreciate your love and support so much! We want to especially thank are biggest supporter, Whitney Larson. Thank you, Whitney for giving a couple of strangers a listen and then sending all of your love and people our direction! We discuss the many ways our pride can keep us from truly enjoying the amazing things that are waiting for us, and how simply getting out of our own way can open our lives up to an abundance of happiness, fulfillment, and love! www.movingonpodcast.com www.instagram.com/moving_on_podcast
This week we discuss the benefits of exercise and physical activity in reaching new levels of health, happiness, and clarity that are SURE to help us thrive in each of our relationships with our families, friends, and ourselves!
In Episode 11 we discuss capturing a funny blooper video, nearly dying crossing a muddy bridge, and appearing on XM radio. Most importantly we tell our mommas how much we love and adore them! We had some really good ones! Still do! Jess got the opportunity to appear on Sharkfarmer Radio, XM 147. {listen here} Something she considered a dream come true quickly became pretty horrifying as nerves set in, and we discuss walking through that fear to get to the truth. Jay talks about his tough week when one of his children through a curveball and wanted to stay at their mom's this weekend instead of coming to our home. We go over the tools he used to walk through those painful moments with grace in order to keep something minor from becoming something major.
We discuss in this episode how each of us are created with a yearning to help others, and the further away we get from this original plan the more anxious and depressed we can come. Thinking of other people before ourselves, and doing things for others in service can be therapeutic and needs to be sought out when dealing with hard times/seasons. The quickest way to stop the negative thought loops is the redirect the attention from our own lives and replace is with concern/though for other people. Serving others can be medicinal for our own depression and anxiety!
In episode 9 we discuss how each of us deals with anxiety and the affects it can have on us physically, mentally, and emotionally. We discuss different tricks and tactics that we use in defense to anxiety, and also the very physical ways anxiety can manifest physically in the form of anxiety attacks and panic attacks. Jessie describes what she experiences physically when having her anxiety attacks, and encourages others to do the same so that we can take the stigma away. Anxiety can cause us to feel broken, isolated, lonely, and alienated and we want to open up the lines of communication so that we may be about to move forward in healing and health.
We discuss two different powerful quotes in this episode, and what they mean to us in our lives. "Go and love someone exactly as they are. And then watch how quickly they transform into the greatest, truest version of themselves. When one feels seen and appreciated in their own essence, one is instantly empowered." -Wes Angelozzi "Trauma is perhaps the most avoided, ignored, belittled, denied, misunderstood, and untreated cause of human suffering." -Peter Levine
In this episode we take a journey back, for a bit, to discuss our experiences in the darkest times of our lives. It was difficult to imagine a bright future from the bottom of a "pit", but we want to be a voice of hope for those that are struggling and stuck. We discovered that we had to shut our mouths, put our heads down in determination, and move forward at all costs to climb out of the 'mud" and step into our best lives! A few quotes that we discuss: "Heal yourself and you heal your children's children" -unknown "When you value your opinions more than you value others you lose influence" -John Mckinzie "You cannot fight someone to seeing things your way" -John Mckinzie
Listen in as we discuss how fear has blocked ambitions, pushed back timelines, shelved dreams, and crippled passions in our own lives. We all know that the mind is programmed to protect us from uncertainty, but we also know that everything we have ever wanted is right on the other side of those scary moments! When it comes to worry and fear, it is common for us to get stuck. Whether your children are starting a new school, or anything new for that matter! Or maybe you are wanting to make a life-change but are terrified what your friends and family will think. Whatever it may be, we want to encourage you to keep moving forward. We want you to press through the sticky spots in life than can cause you to feel stuck, depressed, and full of despair. We know all to well how that feels, from our own experiences. After getting out of our pits we set out to grab more rope and come back for all of you!
We discuss the idea of gratitude, and how practicing it has changed our lives. Gratitude is the quality of being thankful, and the readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness. We feel like keeping gratitude at the forefront of our minds can fight off thoughts of self-loathing and negativity. One of the scariest events in our lives is simultaneously something we are most thankful for, and we describe in detail how it occurred. After walking through those moments we learned how to flip trials on their heads, and look at them from entirely different angles. The Lord told us to count it all joy the trials we experience, and it's not something that we learned to embrace fully until the past few years. We want to encourage a change in attitude to an attitude of gratitude, stealing the negative space for something positive. We believe that doing this can enhance your lives in gigantic ways!
