Welcome to Otherwise (un)Damaged! This week's episode is random AF and we don't hate it. Due to a scheduling conflict Michelle couldn't make this episode, so we recorded with Dr. Vanessa. And y'all know how wild the conversations get when Dr. Vanessa is on the scene. It's a fun episode, and once again we don't talk about dogs or politics. Welcome to Otherwise (un)Damaged! This week's episode is a fun one. Julie and Michelle cover a lot of ground, talking about everything from college football (how about Coach Prime and Colorado!), politics, free speech, Alex Hormozi, and providence. It's a fun episode, and they don't talk about dogs once. Welcome to Otherwise (un)Damaged! This week's episode can only be described as a live look-in into Julie and Michelle having a normal, everyday conversation. In fact this episode depicts beautifully how Julie and Michelle became friends. They flow through numerous different topics, linking them all together with tangential thoughts. Julie starts the episode with a sincere question to Michelle: “Where do basic white women hang out now that we aren't supporting Target?” She suggests a fill-in like Trader Joe's or Whole Foods - but since both are incredibly inconvenient to get to for both Julie and Michelle they quickly realize that won't suffice. From there topics cover sports, dogs (of course), football stadiums, cooking, concerts, and a dozen other micro-topics. Welcome to Otherwise (un)Damaged! In this week's episode Julie and Michelle are all over the place. It's a lot like listening to two friends who haven't seen each other in years catching up. There is really no end to the topics covered. Dogs, road trips, weddings, kids, church, Toastmasters, humanness, and loads of other unrelated things. It's definitely an episode of girl talk. Welcome to Otherwise (un)Damaged! If the intro to this week's show is any indication of just how strange the conversation is, then you're going to want to tune in. Julie and Michelle welcome back regular guest, Dr. Vanessa Passov. But she's not back for medical reasons. She's here to join in the fun and add to the conversation. Of course they discuss President Trump being on Tucker Carlson and then they hit on the first republican debate, and from there the train goes off the rails. There's really no other way to describe what happens on this episode. Welcome to Otherwise (un)Damaged! In this week's episode Julie and Michelle give their thoughts on mean people, specifically internet bullies. We all know someone who makes a habit out of posting mean things with a side of humor (because when something ends with a smiley face emoji it's not as mean!) just for the likes. Well, Julie and Michelle are tired of it. They talk about how damaging it is to your personal brand, your business brand, and honestly - what it says about your integrity and core values. Tune in. It's a great episode. Themes: Bullies, Integrity, Money, Values, Politics New Episodes released every Friday Find us on Instagram (otherwise_undamaged) Check out our website (otherwiseundamaged.com)
Welcome to Otherwise (un)Damaged! Welcome Back!!!! Julie and Michelle are back from their summer hiatus - and what an episode they have today. They are going all in on both religion and politics - holding nothing back. Julie shares a story about attending a rotary club meeting and asking some hard questions of a US Senator. Michelle is clear on her frustration with the things politicians waste their time and our money on (AMEN!). And of course they talk about dogs. Julie's newest puppy, Peter Quill aka Star-Lord (they call him Quill) may need to go to doggy fat camp (“weight management”) for his habitual overeating. It's possible he has bulimia. Welcome to Otherwise (un)Damaged! Today Callye Keen (longtime listener, first time caller) fills in as co-host with Julie, as Michelle works through some scheduling conflicts. While the show certainly isn't the same without Michelle (there's a lot less swearing and a significant decrease in the amount of woo-woo that's present), Julie and Callye manage to find an instant groove in the conversation - talking as they frequently do, about business. Callye is a product wizard, works with start-ups, government contracts, and lots of other really cool (and significant) stuff. Callye is Julie's go to for business brainstorming and when she needs to fact check a crazy idea. This episode is a departure from the usual Otherwise (un)Damaged conversations, covering ideal customer personas (and how non-business listeners can benefit from this line of thinking), mompreneurs, bro-preneurs, and entrepreneur culture in general. Welcome to Otherwise (un)Damaged! In this week's episode Julie and Michelle attempt to talk about the woes of being adults, but for some reason the conversation keeps leading back to politics and religion. Which leads them to one very big question, is this what adulting is? The episode bobs and weaves through topics around the grace we should be able to give everyone to live the life they want to live, and our ability to hear how another human decides to spend their time and hold our tongues while listening to it. Why didn't our parents warn us how little fun we actually get to have as adults? Welcome to Otherwise (un)Damaged! In this week's episode Julie and Michelle step deep into the “woo woo” talking about Shadow Self. A concept that has changed both of their lives. They reference exercises that listeners can do to better understand their shadow selves, and to change the trajectory of their lives. Welcome to Otherwise (un)Damaged! In this week's episode Julie and Michelle share their frustrations over how frequently the Trans Agenda is being shoved down our throats, and by so many big companies. While they both support trans rights (they support all rights, really) they are exhausted from the pandering of big companies to the smallest percentage of the population. And they are furious over how companies like Target and Kohls are going after our children. That's where they draw the line. Julie asks Michelle for some advice on how to handle a situation where she's giving her hard earned money to a business that she is not aligned with at all from a values perspective. But, she signed a one year contract with this small business, and recently realized this person is okay with harmful content being shared with children in school. She wants out of the contract, but she also wants to keep her commitment on doing what she said she would do - which is pay the small business. Tune in to hear Michelle's sage advice to Julie. Welcome to Otherwise (un)Damaged! On this week's episode Julie and Michelle welcome back Dr. Vanessa Passov back to the show. The conversation centers around communication, and to be more precise, how many people suck at communication. Michelle explains the role your childhood home and environment plays in how you communicate as an adult - especially if you haven't done any work to heal childhood traumas. Isn't that just the way it always is - our childhood comes back to bite us in the ass. Or in this case, in the mouth. There's plenty of humiliation to go around, as they share stories about the birds and bees talk, announcing to a gas station clerk “I have gas” (it's not what you think), and mistaking buffalo meatballs for a size classification instead of an actual type of meat. But the humiliation doesn't stop there. Michelle and Julie volley back and forth through moments they would rather forget. Welcome to Otherwise (un)Damaged! In this episode co-hosts Julie Traxler and Michelle Fuller get together over coffee to discuss current events, share some laughs, and express their frustrations with the current state of the country. Michelle starts off the conversation with a passionate statement: “Let me tell you why this pissed me off so much. Because as a female, I get something every month that natural born males never fucking get. I don't care how many hormones you pump into your fucking body, you're never going to get what I get every single month.” Julie nods in agreement and the two continue discussing the recent political developments surrounding women's rights. The conversation eventually turns to a recent commercial controversy involving Bud Light. Julie shares her thoughts on the issue: “I'm not trying to cancel Bud Light. I'm just putting my money where my values are.” The two continue their discussion on consumer responsibility and the importance of supporting companies that align with personal values. Throughout the episode, Julie and Michelle also share some laughs and banter about everyday topics, like the struggles of adulting and the latest viral internet memes. However, amidst the humor and laughter, there is an underlying frustration with the state of the country and the world. Welcome back to Otherwise (un)Damaged, the podcast that's like a choose-your-own-adventure book, but with more tangents. In this episode, co-hosts Julie Traxler and Michelle Fuller are back for round two of Crystal Ballin', where they dive into the future based on the past three years of events. The co-hosts dive into a number of themes that emerged from the survey responses they received. One of the themes that stuck out was gun control. While opinions on this issue are highly divisive, some survey respondents expressed hope that the tide is turning towards sensible regulations that protect both our rights and safety. Religion was also a topic that came up, with some respondents suggesting that people will always have a need for spirituality but organized religion may not be as influential in the future. The possibility of another world war was also a topic of discussion. While it's a scary thought, some respondents expressed hope that we can learn from past mistakes and work together as a global community to address the issues that threaten our safety and security. One response that really resonated with the co-hosts was, "The past 3 years made me realize what is essential in life and business - reality without the fluff. My future in business will be driven by showing up when it matters and the authentic connections that I can build - in person or virtual. My family is evolving to use technology to enhance our lives, not distract us from it." The co-hosts note that this is a great reminder to focus on what really matters in life, even in uncertain times. Overall, the co-hosts had a great time reviewing the survey responses and discussing what the future might hold. While the future is always uncertain, they believe that it's important to stay positive and focused on what matters most. Welcome to Otherwise (un)Damaged, the podcast that explores the complexities of the human experience. In episode 35, titled "Crystal Ballin': Predictions and Prognostications for Your Future," co-hosts Julie and Michelle delve into the results of a single-question survey they posed to their listeners. The question asked was, "What do you believe to be true about the future (your future, your family's future, America's future) based on the events of the past 3 years?" Throughout this two-part series, Julie and Michelle discuss the various themes that emerged from the responses they received. In this episode, they explore the themes of freedom, entrepreneurship, disaster, civil war, and the day of reckoning with the Lord. One anonymous response that stood out to the hosts was, "Our future changed dramatically and we can all feel a difference in the air since March 2020. The powers that be enforced unlawful laws and regulations and the vast majority of people stood by idly or blindly followed without asking questions. They now know what they can get away with and without hardly any resistance. Our future is in jeopardy. I'm not confident in my fellow Americans to stand and defend their life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. We will be going through an unprecedented amount of tyranny and destruction as a people. Get right with God now." Julie and Michelle offer their own insights and perspectives on this response, as well as the other themes that emerged from the survey. They explore the idea of entrepreneurship and the potential for innovation and growth amidst difficult times. They also delve into the possibility of disaster, both natural and man-made, and the need for preparedness and resilience. The hosts also touch on the topic of civil war and the polarization that currently exists in America. They discuss the potential for a day of reckoning with the Lord, and how it can provide a sense of hope and purpose in uncertain times. Join Julie and Michelle for an insightful and thought-provoking discussion on the future. Don't forget to tune in to Part 2 to hear more responses and insights on this topic. The show opens with a surprise exercise that Julie asks Michelle and Dr. Vanessa to participate in. Things get a little emotional, but it's worth the price of admission to hear how vulnerable they get from the jump. From there they dive into the very important discussion of vaccines and death and injuries. Julie, Michelle, and Vanessa (friend of the show) recently launched a new business venture, and they are frequently reminded of the cold, hard truth that support never comes from where you think it will. This episode is filled with their thoughts on why support is so important and why they believe some folks just don't know how to give it. Welcome to episode 32 of Otherwise (un)Damaged! In this episode, our regular hosts Julie Traxler and Michelle Fuller discuss the controversy surrounding Hershey's Chocolate and their International Women's Month commercial featuring a transgender male. They also discuss The Daily Wire launching a chocolate company in response. The hosts delve into the topic of equality and discuss heavily if International Women's Month is even needed. She also acknowledges that her reason for taking the test was slightly nefarious in nature. Tune in to find out why she took that test and why she has no regrets. They also spend time discussing the recent Rasmussen poll asking the question “is it okay to be white?”. Which turns into a hot debate between Julie and Michelle. Welcome to episode 31 of Otherwise (un)Damaged. In this episode, we explore the themes of doing difficult things as an entrepreneur, getting fired from a corporate job, dealing with difficult clients, and making changes in your life when you need to. Our episode is titled "That's not Disappointment, that's Fear." Our co-hosts (Julie and Michelle), both of whom are successful entrepreneurs, share their experiences of getting fired from corporate jobs and how that became the catalyst for them to start their own businesses. They address the challenges of being an entrepreneur, the fear of failure, and the importance of taking risks and doing the difficult things that are necessary for success. They also dive into the complex and often taboo topic of dealing with difficult clients and how to navigate those situations with grace and a little professionalism. More importantly, they talk about what they learn from working with clients that don't align with their values. Throughout the episode, Julie and Michelle emphasize the benefits of being an entrepreneur, despite the challenges. "There are sucky moments as an entrepreneur as well," Julie says, "but you at least get to make the decisions about what you do next. A lot of times when you are a W2 employee, you don't get to make the decision. Someone else is going to tell you what the decision is." In conclusion, this episode is a must-listen for anyone who is thinking about starting their own business or making changes in their life. The insights and experiences provided are both inspiring and practical, and offer valuable lessons for anyone who wants to do the difficult things that are necessary for success. Welcome to Otherwise (un)Damaged! What a wild ride this week's episode is. This is the week where we find out how truly nuts Julie is (as if we don't already know). She goes deep into how much pressure and stress she puts on herself on a daily basis. She also confides in all the illnesses she convinced herself she had while putting off going to the doctor. It took an anxiety attack and a phone call to a friend confiding in her fear of having the non-existent “leg cancer” disease to finally push her over the edge. Then Michelle weighs in with her strong need to ABC (Always Be Cleaning). Together the two of them go full on nuts during this episode. But we admit, it's enjoyable AF. “I think I might be afraid to need people. I don't know.” – Julie Themes: Pressure. Rest. Entrepreneurship. Relationships. Health. Welcome to Otherwise (un)Damaged! This week's episode is straight fire. This might be the most passionate episode Julie and Michelle have recorded, to date. They dive deep into what is becoming more and more common with each passing day, the persecution of christians, religions, morals, and values in American society. They touch on the impact this is having on our children and ask the very real and problematic question of “why is it okay for children to attend drag shows, but it's offensive for someone to wear a t-shirt that says “Jesus Saves” to the mall?” “He's not handing out pamphlets, he's not trying to anoint people. He's not handing out fucking wafers and the body or blood of Christ. He's just walking around the mall shopping, minding his business, and he has a t-shirt on that says Jesus saves.” There's passion, fire, logic, and even a moment where Julie tries to save everyone. Welcome to Otherwise (un)Damaged! Thanks for tuning in. This week's episode takes some unusual twists and turns, but ultimately lands at a familiar place - social media. Julie and Michelle address the blessings and the curses of social media, but not before Julie goes on a bit of a rant over some folks' lack of communication skills. She doubles down on her most unfavorite phrase “alright, let me go”, which is almost always used by the very person who monopolizes the entire conversation. “And then you say, all right, let me go. I gotta get going. Bitch, fuck you. You could have been gone like 20 minutes ago, but you had to rant and rage and talk about your fucking self. I'm not holding you up. Let me go. Welcome to Otherwise (un)Damaged! On this week's episode, Julie and Michelle discuss “The Messy Middle,” or “The In-Between.” Which is the status period in which you find yourself evolving, changing, exhausted and overwhelmed, by the failure within the crcrystalis of your evolution. It's a long, hard road that leads to beautiful outcomes when perseverance and preservation take hold. And when community is built by acknowledging and confronting the feelings of overwhelming loneliness and shame. The pursuit of joy and the acknowledgement of failure as a necessary hurdle, instead of a symptom of character, better prepares you for understanding the struggle that's to come. And appreciating the satisfying end result. “A big part of the ‘In-Between' is getting the lesson without beating yourself up for it.” – Julie Themes: Failure. Hardships. Endurance. Determination. Welcome to Otherwise (un)Damaged! In this week's episode, Julie and Michelle talk about letting go of disingenuous people from our lives. Riding yourself of toxic relationships as you move toward personal growth is a healthy choice of self-preservation. Not all relationships are meant to last a lifetime, and setting boundaries, dismantling ties, can put you on a path to a better you. Examining the people in our lives, and what they bring into it, is a necessity as you grow older and your journey changes. It's important to ask yourself, regarding your relationships: am I better for knowing you? “You are your own worst enemy. And that goes for almost every part of your life. If you have a friend or family member or someone you're in a relationship with, and they are doing things that you dislike, you have to ask yourself why you put up with it. Why do you allow them a place in your heart? Why do you allow them a place in your life?” – Michelle Themes: Toxic family. Ghosting. Me then vs. Me now. Forgiveness. Emotional amputator. Welcome to Otherwise (un)Damaged! In this week's episode Julie and Michelle talk about the positives and negatives of social media and being chronically online. How social media shapes our kids and their outlook on life and themselves as small humans living in a plugged-in world. Also, waring political views on the internet, and can connections still be genuinely made across the world wide web. “There are just so many negatives, so many consequences to social media. And I just want to talk about how do you balance out the good and the bad. And how do we keep our children from being ruined by it? Is that too aggressive? Is that an overstatement?” – Julie Themes: Social media as a business tool. Kids vs. social media. Connection. High school reunions. Unplugging. Welcome to Otherwise (un)Damaged! In this week's episode Julie and Michelle are diving into why we need to declutter our lives and relationships regularly. If you're like most of us, you're in a consistent state of growth, pushing yourself forward, and that often means outgrowing old patterns, habits, and people. Julie and Michelle recommend taking inventory of what podcasts you listen to, who you follow on social media, what books you read, where you get your news, and who is part of your innermost circle. Growth comes through doing uncomfortable and challenging things. “The reality is winning is boring as fuck. It's doing the same thing over and over and over and over. That consistency, just continuing to do it until you start to win. It's boring. It's not sexy. It is hard. You want to quit. You're like, fuck, I just did this yesterday. But that is the stuff that ultimately takes you over the finish line.” - Julie Themes: Growth, Personal Development, Friendships, Relationships, Business New Episodes released every Friday Find us on Instagram (otherwise_undamaged) Check out our website (otherwiseundamaged.com) Wondering where we got our cool intro? Welcome to Otherwise (un)Damaged! In this week's episode Julie and Michelle talk about holiday movies, primarily the message behind A Christmas Carol, by Dickens. It turns out that this happens to be Michelle's favorite holiday movie, because it is a story of transformation and change. When Scrooge is confronted by the Ghosts, he needs to make some tough decisions, and Michelle can relate because it's very similar to how she approached the massive changes she made in her life several years ago. “For me, it's such a reflection of the change and the journey that I took starting with the ghost from his past. If I were to look at my life, it would be a similar thing that I did without the ghost, although the ghosts with my past did show up in my life everywhere.” – Michelle Themes: Transformation, Growth, Past, Christmas, Family, Decisions New Episodes released every Friday Find us on Instagram (otherwise_undamaged) Check out our website (otherwiseundamaged.com) Wondering where we got our cool intro? Welcome to Otherwise (un)Damaged! Today we're diving into the importance of personal development in both career and personal life. Michelle is a force in this episode, sharing more details about her past and the steps she took to create the woman she is today. It's for more common for people to invest in their career (business, entrepreneur) personal development than it is in their lives. Most people spend more time planning their summer vacation then they do their lives. Julie and Michelle address why personal development is so important, what you can do to get started, and why you should keep working even when it gets uncomfortable. Welcome to Otherwise (un)Damaged! In this week's episode of Otherwise (un)Damaged Julie and Michelle are coming in hot on the topic of arguments. They both have a real issue with how many grown a$$ adults simply do not know how to have an argument. Folks fight dirty. Folks don't think about hearing the other person, they focus on winning. And it's a real problem. Especially with the holidays upon us. We all know it's not all love and happiness over the coming weeks. There is a lot of stress, and families don't always play nice together. Knowing how to argue like a mature adult who actually cares about your relationships goes a long way to reducing stress and making your life more tolerable. Listen in, take notes, and most importantly - stop being a total jackhole when you argue with people you care about. Welcome to Otherwise (un)Damaged! This week's episode title is an ode to The Breakfast Club. Julie shares a recent experience where she received feedback on her political views from someone incredibly important to her. Welcome to Otherwise (un)Damaged! In this week's episode, Julie and Michelle get serious about grief. But that doesn't mean this episode is all sad and serious, there are plenty of laughs. Julie shares a funny story about her dead mother attending a wedding (not as a ghost!). Michelle talks about how she handled her mother dying (hint: it's NOT what you think), and how both of them have grown since their mother's have passed away. Grief is a challenging emotion for many. People don't want to feel sad or deal with loss, so we tend to bury it, not deal with it, pretend it doesn't exist. Or that we aren't absolutely destroyed from a loss. And grief doesn't just happen when someone dies. Many of us are grieving the loss of what our lives looked like before 2020. Grief does not obey your plans or your wishes. Grief will do whatever it wants to, whenever it wants to. In that regard, grief has a lot in common with love. - Elizabeth Gilbert Themes: Grief, Emotions, Death, Loss, Family, Support, Growth New Episodes released every Friday Find us on Instagram (otherwise_undamaged) Check out our website (otherwiseundamaged.com) Wondering where we got our cool intro? Welcome to Otherwise (un)Damaged! This week's episode is a special one. Julie and Michelle dive deep into Julie's recent experience of attempting to climb the equivalent of Mount Everest (29,029 feet of elevation gain) in 36 hours on October 21st and 22nd, in Stratton VT. This podcast is the first (and only) place where Julie will share the details of the experience. What she learned about herself, and how much of it surprised her. And most importantly, once you've had these big aha moments, you have to do something with them. Because sitting in the knowledge that changes are needed and not making them is no way to live your life. The conversation ranges from angels and ghosts to the universe giving us what we need, when we need it. And, there might even be some conspiracy theories thrown in for good measure. Maybe a few thoughts on the 2020 election, big pharma and cancer, and who knows what else. It's a more light hearted episode with some laughs and revelations shared. Welcome to Otherwise (un)Damaged! In this week's episode Julie and Michelle are talking about self-judgment. Why do we do it, what damage does it cause, and what role does social media play in the self-judgment we have? They both share what their internal bullies tell them and how they deal with it. Michelle offers some advice to both single and married women who are looking to improve relationships (or want to start dating again). Welcome to Otherwise (un)Damaged! Thanks for tuning into our latest episode of Otherwise (un)Damaged. This week Julie and Michelle are talking about masculinity. Why we need it, why it's disappearing, and who is to blame. There's a strong tie-in to past episodes this week. Both feminism and our inability to be bored play a role in why masculinity is on the decline in our society. Julie and Michelle talk about how we experience too much comfort (yes, there is such a thing), how we believe that in order for women to be strong and have value, a man has to be ‘less than'. And they talk about how helicopter parenting (and now snowplow parenting) are destroying society. Yes, destroying! Give today's show a listen and let us know what you think. Welcome to Otherwise (un)Damaged! In the latest episode Julie and Michelle get a little fired up over boredom. Why boredom? Because when the cell phone was introduced, people lost the ability to be bored. And boredom is crucial for creativity, problem solving, and leadership. When the ladies of Otherwise (un)Damaged grew up, if they dared to tell their mom or dad they were bored, they were hit with chores and possibly getting a little sense knocked into them. They didn't complain about not having anything to do. They found things to do. Usually outside. They played, laughed, possibly hung out with fake friends, climbed some trees, and pretended to run a hospital. Their creativity was in full swing. And that creativity taught them how to be leaders, how to solve problems and how to build relationships. When's the last time you were truly bored? Welcome to Otherwise (un)Damaged! Listen in as Julie and Michelle talk about the importance of strong female friendships. Julie shares a story of how she was mistreated by a “friend” in the past, and how she was a willing participant in that unhealthy friendship. It takes two to tango, and Julie participated in that unhealthy dance for far too long. What does it take to leave unhealthy, unproductive friendships behind? Self esteem, a sense of right and wrong, and the ability to go it alone while you find healthy friendships. Female friendships are so important to our growth and mental health. But they can destroy us if we don't know how to set boundaries and how to give our time to relationships that make us stronger and better. Welcome to Otherwise (un)Damaged! And welcome to the first episode that focuses on politics and the views that Julie and Michelle hold on what is happening in our country. The conversation centers around feminism and how they both believe that feminism is bad for women, bad for men, and bad for society. Feminism is defined as the advocacy of women's rights on the basis of the equality of the sexes. In this episode they talk about Hilary Clinton's 2016 campaign slogan of ‘I'm with her” and why neither of them would ever (in their lives) be with her. They also talk about Trump, Biden, Obama, and hold strong opinions on which of those presidents actually divided the country.
