SHOW SUMMARY FOR BUZZSPROUT   Bad habits, when left unchecked, can be the greatest enemy for progress. In this episode we talk about self-destructive behaviors and how negative mindsets reduce our energy and motivation to take the necessary steps for achieving our goals.    As trapped as we may feel, there are strategies we can apply in our daily lives to free us from our bad habits. And throughout that entire process we need to remember that we're never alone. Sometimes, we must be vulnerable and open up to others, even if we think we can go through this road alone.   The key strategy to dealing with bad habits is not in elimination, but rather, replacing. We must identify the cues that are causing these bad habits to occur. Then, replace the bad with positive behavior, just to reward it. This way, the bad habit will, over time, be replaced with a good one, almost without even noticing it   BY THE TIME YOU FINISH LISTENING, YOU'LL LEARN:    Everyone has the power to change. As much as it may feel like a bad habit or self-destructive behavior is dragging you along, ultimately you have so much more agency than you may initially think. You may have forgotten it along the way, but the reins were always in your hands.   There are six actionable steps you can take to remedy bad habits. These are all  “customizable” for every different person and situation, but they're a roadmap to help brainstorm your own ways to achieve self-improvement.   At the end of the day, moving forward from bad habits requires a great deal of self-reflection. We must take a look in the mirror and see what we don't like. Only then can we improve. As such, we must have regular check-ins with ourselves, and if necessary, bring others into that journey of self-reflection.   If you've connected with this episode in some way, leave a review and share your biggest takeaway with me. “That really hit home for me that as long as I was working for someone else, I was never probably going to get where I wanted to be,” shares Jason Stendalen, owner and agent of c4 Insurance Company. Jason and his wife are serial entrepreneurs with 4 businesses between the two of them. Jason's goal with c4 is to really shake up the industry and change the way people think about insurance. In spite of encountering many challenges and having to fully restart from zero multiple times in a row, Jason has always maintained his resilience and consistency. Each new start was met head on and he did not let the fear of failure get in his way.    It can be daunting to step outside the box and keep moving forward even after setbacks. Jason attributes much of his resilience to having a strong support system encouraging him and holding him accountable each step of the way. If you have been considering stepping out on your own and becoming an entrepreneur, don't let fear of trying something new hold you back. Even if you do not succeed right away, keep going anyway. As long as you believe in yourself and really love what you do, you will find a way to make it work.   If you have been considering stepping out onto a new path and pursuing your dreams of entrepreneurship, don't be afraid to try. Stay resilient and consistent, even in the face of challenges or roadblocks, and you may be surprised by all that you can achieve.   Quotes • “That really hit home for me that as long as I was working for someone else, that I was never probably going to get where I wanted to be, or they were going to require things that I didn't want to do. And so that just kind of hit home for me that maybe I needed to find a different avenue to pursue my dreams.” (8:37-8:58 | Jason)  • “No matter what industry you're in, I think there's bad apples out there that kind of ruin that for all of us. And there's people that are ethical and do things maybe not the way that most of us would probably appreciate. And so I just really wanted to change that. And so C4 was created because I wanted to just change the industry.” (14:37-14:58 | Jason) • “I think just being honest and living by the golden rule and just treating people the way that we want to be treated, I think that goes a long way. And I think that gets lost today.” (19:06-19:17 | Jason) • “Just growing and maintaining our current path, that's our primary focus is to just continue to do a good job.” (30:12-30:19 | Jason) • “You have to take a step outside the box. You have to do something that you haven't already tried. Don't be afraid to fail.” (32:12-32:19 | Jason) • “Talk to someone that's going to support and encourage these movements, these thoughts, these actions, and someone that's going to hold you accountable to actually taking steps towards it. That's the only way you're going to get there.” (32:48-33:00 | Jason)    Links Get in touch with Jason Stendalen: Website: www.C4ins.com Ph# (608)824-7267 Email: jason@c4ins.com Address: 8446 Excelsior Drive Ste 2, Madison, WI 53717 Get in touch with host Jeff Meyer: www.jeffmeyercoaching.com Book a FREE 30-Minute Dream Discovery Call with Jeff: https://calendly.com/d/dk6-mzr-dsq Schedule a Discovery Call with Jeff: https://go.oncehub.com/DreamAcceleratorDiscoveryCall   Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm

“I think pastors have been removed from leadership development all the way up to ordination, and I think that grieves the heart of God,” shares Pastor Tim Ahlman with the Christ Greenfield church. Tim is a third generation pastor and leader with the Unite Leadership Collective. His dream is to unite congregations and work together to multiply disciples as a collective. Leadership development and discipleship are two sides of the same coin and without strong leaders, the church will not be able to spread the message of God to as many people.    Many pastors make the mistake of getting more caught up in the show and in being a big personality rather than actually growing the church. As a pastoral leader, you need to fall in love with development and bringing more people to Jesus' table. Without strong leadership, the collective will fall apart and the mission of spreading God's love to as many people as possible before Jesus returns will fail. Pastors may face internal and external resistance when presented with the idea of change, but it is important to push through that and recognize that fear and resistance as the voice of Satan. Ministry often feels isolating as pastors have been wrongly led to believe that it is wrong for them to have friends. However, no one can do everything alone, even Jesus had friends. Find people who can be your safety net and work together to reach your dreams.   If you feel the calling to pastoral leadership, do not let fear stop you from spreading the message of God's love. It takes time to build trust between congregations, but coming together allows for a greater multiplication of discipleship.    Quotes • “Discipleship is more caught than taught.” (5:52-5:54 | Tim) • “Everything rises and falls on leadership. And by the grace of God, I am in a very healthy circuit and a very healthy district.” (12:03-12:12 | Tim) • “It's a slow go in building trust between congregations. It does not happen overnight.” (16:45-16:49 | Tim)  • “This is not about me. This is about Him, and then it's about our work together.” (23:43-23:49 | Tim) • “My desire is not to win. My desire is simply to stay in the game and run with perseverance the race set out for me.” (24:47-24:55 | Tim) • “I see leadership development and discipleship as two sides of the same coin.” (30:36-30:41 | Tim)  • “I think pastors have been removed from leadership development all the way up to ordination, and I think that grieves the heart of God.” (35:49-34:56 | Tim) • “Fear is from Satan, and I'm not bringing shame here. It's been fun to see people change as they go through vocal coaching.” (5:57-6:16) Christina) • “I think we have to give ourselves permission to adequately look at what our skills are and what we are bringing to people through our gifts and talents.” (7:56-8:10) Christina) • “But if we shut down and think, “I can't do this, or there's just no way.” And when we start having those thoughts, it's faith or fear. “I would say you're never too old. Never too old. Go ahead,” says Rocklyn Grace. Rocklyn, a former writing and research professor, spent many years focused on teaching others to write, rather than her own creative writing. Now the author of the Remnant Chronicles, Rocklyn is finally realizing her dream, proving that it's never too late.   With a career in academia, Rocklyn could not focus on her writing. Between work and the general obstacles of life, Rocklyn always had to put her personal projects aside. However, Rocklyn's dream eventually became unavoidable as she became increasingly driven to write. Although it isn't easy, Rocklyn proves that you can achieve your goals at any age as long as you're willing to try.   Tune into this week's episode of Move Forward Anyway for an inspiring conversation on going after what you want. Learn more about Rocklyn's storytelling journey, her experience with Jeff's Dream Accelerator, and why her true goal is to make the world a kinder place.   Quotes • “I would say you're never too old. Never too old. Go ahead.” (6:04-6:09) | Rocklyn)  • “It's never too late to get in there and try. Maybe you have to adjust your dream a little bit, but do it. People need your dream.” (6:25-6:34) | Rocklyn)  • “I had to learn to step back and just laugh at myself a little and say, “You know what, even if it's delayed, it will still get published.” (32:33-32:43) | Rocklyn) • “I just want to be able to tell them that they're loved, they are seen, and that God loves them.” (38:00-38:06) | Rocklyn) • “If you're listening, contact Jeff and get some clarity. And let us help bring this dream into fruition because your dream is important. I love you and we want your dream.” (40:22-40:37 | Rocklyn)   Links Get in touch with Rocklyn Grace: Website: https://www.rocklyngrace.com/ Instagram: https://instagram.com/rocklyn_grace_remnant_writer?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=   Get in touch with host Jeff Meyer: www.jeffmeyer.org Schedule a Discovery Call with Jeff: https://go.oncehub.com/DreamAcceleratorDiscoveryCall   Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm
