Ciara has developed specialist skills in Baby and toddler assessment and gross motor development, child and adolescent injury prevention and management, strength training in children and adolescents, management of Rheumatological conditions, and the assessment and treatment of infant orthopaedic conditions including Pavlik harness management for hip dysplasia, and Ponseti management of clubfoot. In 2021 she completed a Masters in Advanced Clinical Practice specialising in Paediatric Musculoskeletal rehabilitation, gaining a Distinction. This added Orthopaedic triage, musculoskeletal imaging requests and interpretation, and rehabilitation of national sports teams to her repertoire of skills. Ciara also works in the NHS as an Advanced Practice Paediatric Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist alongside Orthopaedic Consultants and Paediatricians.Ciara has always been passionate about Paediatric Physiotherapy and helping children in pain return to play and sports in a safe and enjoyable environment that reduces the chance of re-injury. She follows the ethos that “Children are not just little adults” and that they require specialist assessment and skills to appropriately treat and manage conditions of a growing skeletal system. Ciara is passionate about evidence based practice and the development of paediatric physiotherapy and is an active member of the Association of Paediatric Chartered Physiotherapist's (APCP) London and National Committees and helps to produce webinars and research to promote and raise awareness of this specialist area.As a parent to young twins, she understands the importance of a holistic approach to therapy that works for the child's wellbeing and with family life. In this conversation, Emily dives into sleep regressions, holistic ways to support your child with their sleep routines, how every child is so different, the noise around 'sleep training' and difference in approaches and so much more! This is such a topic of conversation within the Carol community and Emily provides us with so many tangible and realistic tips and advice.Emily has over ten years experience in the healthcare setting and has a passion for supporting parents with their child's sleep. Emily has a vast amount of knowledge in paediatric sleep which she is passionate about sharing with the wider community to educate and reassure parents about the biologically normal sleep behaviours of babies and toddlers. Emily supports children with their sleep in both a clinical setting in the hospital as part of her role as a paediatric clinical nurse specialist and in a home setting, as a sleep consultant. As a holistic sleep coach, Emily uses very gentle strategies to support sleep which does not involve 'crying it out' or 'controlled crying'. She is an advocate for protecting the development of the growing child's brain and wants people to know that you can support sleep without excessive crying.
