1.) We don't need so much sleep…At least everybody should sleep for 7 hours, even the high achievers. If we sleep less than 7 hours it will cause in the long term: higher blood pressure, increased risk of cardiovascular disease, and diabetes.2.) Waking up in the middle of the night is not good…We go through different cycles of the sleep and to wake up between the cycles is normal. When you feel well rested your sleep is okay.3.) To get sleepy when bored? Is okay!4.) The brain rests when you sleep. Is not true, sometimes the brain is more active during sleep than during normal thinking. 5.) REM sleep is the deepest and most important phase. This is not true, Slow-wave sleep is by far most the deepest stage. And it releases also the hormones. 6.) All kind of sleep is equal.Overweight people who snore, for example, may not even realize that their sleep is very disturbed. The same applies if we take alcohol or drugs, before going to sleep. 7.) We can go to sleep with a TV or Music when we see or hear positive media. With negative media, we get that negative information straight in our subconsciousness similar to hypnosis… Why not hear a hypnosis mp3 with positive changes/ affirmations? In any case, we should terminate the TV/mp3 player after some time (15 to 60minutes) so that we get the best out of it. My Video: 7 things that are untrue about healthy sleep https://youtu.be/LwMR87pDbi8 My Audio: https://divinesuccess.net/wp-content/uploads/2021/Podcast.B/7-things-that-are-untrue-about-healthy-sleep.mp3

In this episode of The Light Inside, host Jeffrey Besecker delves into the crucial topic of sleep and its impact on our health with neuroscientist and sleep research expert Chelsie Rohrscheib.  They explore the staggering statistics of sleep disorders globally and the significant long-term effects of sleep deprivation on overall well-being and longevity.  Chelsie highlights the importance of building a solid sleep routine focusing on consistency, regularity, quality, and quantity to promote optimal health. Tune in to discover valuable insights on overcoming sleep procrastination and prioritizing quality sleep for a healthier life. Key Points: Consistency, regularity, quality, and quantity are essential factors for achieving quality sleep, as discussed in the podcast episode. 1. Consistency: Maintaining a consistent sleep schedule is crucial for regulating the body's internal clock, known as the circadian rhythm. Going to bed and waking up at the same time every day helps the body anticipate and prepare for sleep, leading to better overall sleep quality. 2. Regularity: Establishing a regular bedtime routine can signal to the brain that it is time to wind down and prepare for sleep. Engaging in calming activities before bed, such as reading or listening to relaxing music, can help create a sense of routine that promotes better sleep. 3. Quality: Quality of sleep refers to the depth and restfulness of the sleep stages experienced throughout the night. Factors such as reducing exposure to blue light before bed, creating a comfortable sleep environment, and practicing relaxation techniques like meditation or controlled muscle relaxation can contribute to improving sleep quality. 4. Quantity: The recommended amount of sleep for adults is typically 7 to 9 hours per night. Ensuring that you get enough sleep each night is vital for your overall health and well-being. Lack of sleep can lead to a range of health issues, including cognitive decline, cardiovascular disease, and mental health disorders. Timestamps: [00:01:28] The cost of sleep procrastination. I read a statistic recently that blew my mind: “the frequency of sex among moms with partners has also declined since last year, with 54% of moms reporting that they are having less sex than they were a year ago… 60% are having sex twice a month or less.” Not only are we trading physical intimacy with our partners for sleep, I also read, “Moms are finding other ways to prioritize self-care, with 51% reporting they prioritize sleep over socializing with friends and family.” If we're honest, the issue here is NOT sleep, it is exhaustion. In today's episode, I'm talking about how we prioritize sleep AND have a healthy sexual relationship and friendships! Sleep issues can cause a lot of stress for the entire family! I am a mother just like you, so I can empathize with multiple night-wakings and sleep-deprived seasons. This is why I invited sleep expert Cara Walker from Well Rested Mama to do this interview with me and help teach about sleep. In this episode we talk about the circadian rhythm and at what age it develops, what normal expectations to have with sleep issues for our littles, how to establish healthy sleep habits at any age, tips for older kids who wake too early or middle of the night and so much more! This interview comes directly from my Doctor Mom Membership program where I love to support you Doctor Moms with my tried and true holistic protocols for common pediatric conditions (think fever, runny nose, cough, anxiety, and more) and sleep is one of the conditions I cover as well. I invite experts to co-teach with me to help empower you mamas in how to navigate the conditions and stages you will inevitably be faced with. Cara shares practical tips so you can be a proactive parent! Topics Discussed: The circadian rhythm and at what age it develops What normal expectations we can have with sleep issues for our littles Establishing healthy sleep habits at any age Wake windows for infants Sleepy cues for infants and toddlers How a feeding schedule can help with sleep Tips for older kids who wake too early or wake in the middle of the night And more! As we embarked on our parenting journey in 2015, we knew our lives would be forever changed. Throughout my pregnancy, my husband and I often heard comments regarding sleep and how we would apparently never get to experience it again once the baby arrived. “Sleep now because you'll never sleep again” was a crowd favorite. Being an elementary school teacher, I know that children thrive on routine and structure. There had to be a way to provide my child with the sleep he needed; so my research began. My sister had previously worked with The Cradle Coach, a sleep consultancy firm based out of South Florida. They helped guide her daughter towards a healthy sleep foundation and I witnessed it happening. I saw how structured her days were and how much sleep she was getting at night. I saw how energized and peaceful she was while awake. I saw the amazing benefits it brought to her entire family! The day I put my 9-week-old on a regular sleep schedule was when our lives truly changed for the better. Our days now had consistency. He was following predictable nap and feeding schedules. Everything fell into place. By 3 months old, he was sleeping through the night (12 hours straight) and happier than ever during the day! Fast forward 2 years to our daughter being born; I was able to implement a healthy sleep foundation from the beginning and her schedule has always been amazing. I understand the struggle of being a tired mom and constantly trying to guess what your child needs or wants. As a new mother, you feel like the world is watching and pressuring you to do everything perfectly; that in itself can be exhausting. By implementing a consistent daily schedule and routine, I have created a positive sleep foundation for our family. Our lives are significantly easier and more stable. Becoming a sleep consultant was one of the best decisions I have made. I love helping frustrated parents succeed while overcoming sleep deprivation and helping their children! Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows! This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track! Check out today's questions:    Amber: Hello, I'm looking for information on the COVID 19 long hauler issue. I'm experiencing some symptoms and wanted to figure out how your program works   Summer: Hi Dr. Cabral! Thank you for all that you do and share with everyone searching for answers! Several years ago my brother was doing Wim Hof exercises and heard a pop in his left temple followed by sharp and pressure type pain in that area for days to weeks. He was told by a chiropractor that it is a sinus issue. We are skeptical of this because there are no sinuses near the temple area… since then, he has had similar episodes but no popping sound. He feels like there is pressure in the vein that runs across the temple. He ends up with that same sharp pressurized pain every time and takes weeks to heal. The pain is worsened by any exertion, singing, raising his voice, bending over, breathing exercises, etc. Any ideas what this could be? He lives a healthy plant based lifestyle. Thanks!!   Cathy: I have listened to your podcast on toxic cookware and safe cookware. I am still not entirely clear on guidance for popular items like Staub, which you did not mention specifically. Staub is an enamel coated cast item and I have reached out to the Company who claims they have tested for their interior being lead/cadmium free. Should I be concerned with the outside testing positive for either of those? Lots of online "experts" claiming this can rub off on the interior when pans are stored/washed. Thoughts on safety and regular use?   Jillian: Hi Dr. Cabral, my hobby unfortunately has unhealthy hours that I don't have much control over. I live in Colombia and salsa dance frequently, implementing a particular style of dance that gets my heart rate up substantially (sometimes as much as a HIIT work out in a single song). Events never start earlier than 9pm. Knowing that I can't change these hours, what are the best practices/supplements/habits I can do to support my adrenals, health and sleep quality? I already sleep with a mask & earplugs, eat WFPB and do not consume alcohol or caffeine. Thank you for everything you do!!   Ashley: Hi Dr. Cabral, I've been listening to all of your podcasts in which you address ADD/ADHD and I'm wondering if there is a reason why, when addressing this topic, you and others seem to only talk about kids dealing with it and not adults. Do most kids outgrow it or something? The reason I'm listening to the podcasts on this topic is because I have a couple of adult friends who have told me that they majorly struggle with ADD/ADHD and I'm trying to help them gain some knowledge.
