We were just sitting in the car, me and my daughter, talking about music. Then she played a song that quietly broke my heart. It told a story I never want to be part of.About a dad turned into a villain, not by truth but by pain and half truths. That moment made me realize how easy it is to get erased. How fast someone's story becomes your legacy, even if it's not real. This one's about breaking that cycle no matter how hard it is.For me. I talk a lot about my daughters and how I raised them. I share my lessons and stories on parenting and how I tried to show up in their lives. Some people (in youtube comments) were so enraged with my beliefs on parenting that they wondered if I was even really a dad because I seemed so clueless. How could I have been so naive as to think it was about love, guidance, and support?Others were certain that I was raising some pansies that would be crushed by the real world. Now that my daughters are adults, it's time to face the harsh truth: I completely screwed up their upbringing. But hey, at least we can all laugh about it now, right? And speaking of laughter, you simply must listen to the latest episode of my podcast, where I chat with my eldest daughter, Fe Aguirre, about how I failed as a parent. It's a real knee-slapper, let me tell you. And the best part? Fe has agreed to return as a regular guest, so we can all revel in my parenting failures together. This show is about to become the best Daddy Daughter Podcast ever. Maybe.
I'm excited to introduce my guest in the newest episode of The Teevee Show Podcast, the OG of Facebook Advertising himself, Jon Loomer! You've probably seen his face on Facebook if you're in the ad space. He's very good at his job. Jon and I had a blast discussing his journey in the advertising space. We talked about how he simplified his business, the importance of trust in marketing, and even how he uses his marketing skills to support his passion for baseball (which he's never really shared publicly before!). We also touched on the value of lifelong learning, making sacrifices, and being present for loved ones - especially when it comes to parenting our kids. And of course, we couldn't end the conversation without talking about Jon's amazing work as a Facebook advertiser and marketer. We now find ourselves adjusting to the trends while trying to maintain our sanity. It was such a cool conversation speaking to one of my biggest teachers in Facebook marketing. Both of our immigrant fathers had strokes. My father is disabled and a shell of the man he once was. Charles father died shortly after his stroke. The motivation behind this conversation wasn't one of "happy, happy, joy, joy," but instead, it tackles an issue that plagues many men in immigrant families. This episode is a heavy one.I always find it fascinating to hear how many fathers will say they would die for their children, but many of those same dads struggle to live for them. It's a deep topic, but I promise that it's not all about death talk… We feel that these are topics that we should be able to talk about with ease. Just like we talk about sports and the weather. “Hey Bob! Let's go for a walk. I need to talk to you about dying and who you used to prepare your will.” One might say we should “normalize” it. HAHA. I swore I would never use that term in my copy. But screw it.It's applicable.
Chris and I first met on in dance class- dancing with each other. Then I asked him to be my friend. He agreed and the rest is history. Although the story behind that conversation is hilarious. He's the person I talk to about virtually every aspect of my life and know that he will listen and then offer up his thoughts in the most non-bs way possible. Check out the latest episode where I talk to him about topics about life, love, and personal development.
Art has been a passion for me since I was a wee lad. I was certain that I would be an artist as a career. I was so committed that I chose not to go to college with the anticipation of becoming this fully paid artist. Foolish, I know. But worse yet, this was before the internet was a thing. Becoming a paid artist today is much easier. Not easy, but easier. Life happened and I set aside my childish artistic desires- for the most part. But then a couple of years ago while rediscovering Twitter and how to use more intentionally- I came across Aaron Aalto. He became my art teacher and rekindled my love of art. Because of his inspiration I started drawing, sketching and publishing on a regular basis. Tune in to todays episode of the Teevee Show Podcast where I have a conversation with Aaron about life, love, and art. He's an artist's artist. Aaron is exploring and thinking about art and design in ways that many have not even considered. He's obsessed with classical design methods of all the greats. Hit the play button and and listen in.
Sue Anderson first came into my world in 2009. She was asked to interview me so I could sharemy story on the success of our first online business. I was so nervous leading up to that conversation. Hearing anyone call me a success wasstrange. My bank account would say otherwise. We immediately bonded and became good friends. 14 years later it was my turn to interview her for my world-famous podcast. We talk about all things parenting, entrepreneurship, and even how to be a better partner in a relationship. Check it out. I promise you will laugh and maybe even cry.
Sometimes you meet new people by going to school with them or being raised in the same hood. That's cool. But you know what's cooler? Having a good friend introduce you someone they are certain you will hit it off with. Someone that they feel vibes, walks, and talks like you. Meet Manny Digital. He's that dude. As soon as we had out first conversation I knew we would be friends for a long time. He's a Latino, a father, an entrepreneur and a hiphop head He invited me to be a guest on his “Father Hoods Podcast''. The conversation was intense and insightful. I knew I wanted him on my show. I asked. He obliged. Tune in and listen to two men who are trying to do the best they can to make a difference in their kids lives. The stories are rich and the laughs are many. Hit the play button and make sure let me know what you think. – A little more about Mr. Digital:Manny "Digital" made his bones in The Bronx, NY. A son of Dominican immigrants, he grew up observing the pitfalls of his BX environment and carefully applied the lessons he picked up to set himself up for a better outcome. One of those lessons came from his personal experience as part of a broken home. He knew early on the importance of a father's presence and how setting clear expectations with his eventual children would be the most impactful elements of building his family.Fast forward... life ultimately connected Manny with KGB, which led to him meeting DJ EFN. Under the common bond of being fathers, these friends started an entertaining podcast called Father Hoods, where they chronicle their lives as Dads along with icons in Hip Hop like N.O.R.E., Ludacris, Bun B, actor Jerry Ferrara and many more. It was 2007ish. I was at a desperate point in my life. I was freshly divorced and knew it was time to make some big bets on myself and my future. My daughters were itty bitty and depended on me getting things figured out.Ladies and gentlemen, meet Mr. Brad Costanzo,That year I met a man in NLP class who would change the direction of my life. He was just himself: outlandish, eager, and brilliant. We started a random business idea to help teach ourselves how to “make money online and in our sleep while only working 4 hours a week”. Or something like that. Here we are 16 years later, all successful and ish. It was time to have a conversation to unpack those early years, and how- in the holy eff- did we leverage that idea into a profitable business. We discuss what we have done in the years since he made me sell him my half of the business for peanuts. (Not really. He paid well.)Hit play on your favorite listening device and hear all about it. I knew that I didn't want my daughters to struggle in communicating. I wanted them to be confident in sharing their thoughts. I wanted them to know they have a voice that matters. If there is one thing I wish I could give my daughters, it would be the mind map of life's potholes. I want them to be able to navigate the world a lot better than I did and succeed. We're parents. We have an advantage. We've been through it all, and we're almost on our way back. We know how the world works. So let's help our kids do the same. Even if that means having weird or uncomfortable conversations with them. Do it. Don't let them walk blindly when you have the life map. Hey! Here's an updated description for podcast. Already added it to the youtube video. Every summer since the divorce, I get my daughters for an entire month for summer vacation. I try to give them as many experiences and lessons as possible during that time. This summer vacation is the last legally mandated summer together. So I made sure it was the most memorable ever, even though now I only had one of the two sisters remaining. The other one has flown away. After years of sharing from my perspective- it was time to hear them speak. Listen to today's episode and hear my baby girl share our stories from her point of view.My older one has already committed to coming to the show and sharing her stories with you. So stay tuned for that.
At one point in my life, I had little money to spend. But I still had the responsibility to make sure that my daughters enjoyed their time with me. And that brought out my creative juices. Apart from the need to have fun, they were at an age where play was necessary for them to learn a few things about life. At that time, I ended up inventing a game or two that cost little to no money. More importantly, I realized what my kids actually needed. Watch today's video where I talk about how the simplest of games made some of the best days I've had with my kids. - - - - - My daughters learning to hula hoop:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8N6ZvgFjJoM&feature=youtu.bePlay: How it Shapes the Brain, Opens the Imagination, and Invigorates the Soulhttps://www.amazon.com/Play-Shapes-Brain-Imagination-Invigorates-ebook/dp/B001SCK720/- - - - -Follow us on all channelWebsite: https://teevee.mxPodcast: https://teevee.fm
Allow me to share a parenting tip with you. But first, "Don't think of a pink elephant."Humans have this quirk—when we're told not to think about something, we have to think about it to then not think about it.That is why, right now, you're still thinking of a pink elephant.Things are no different for our kids who are still figuring out the world around them.Just imagine this. When you tell your kid not to touch the hot stove, you're not saying no. You're just planting the idea of doing it into their head. It's crazy, right? In today's episode, I talk about how the way we frame the things we say to our kids affects what they do and what they don't.
Ever since they were small, my goal has always been to show my daughters what a good man is like. I wanted them to know what was possible when it comes to being in a relationship, such as having love and respect and being cared for. We, the dads, have the responsibility to set the standards so that our children know what to expect or what is possible. In today's video, I share why it is important to be a better communicator when it comes to talking to your children about relationships and their partners.-Follow us on all channelWebsite: https://teevee.mxPodcast: https://teevee.fm
You can be your kid's first supporter or hater as a dad. Learning to give direct feedback while encouraging our kids is a skill we need to master as dads. When people talk about “parenting,” movies rarely come up as the source of inspiration and guide. I'm here to tell you to reconsider.Storytelling already comes naturally to us. We start and end our days with conversations. Films are no different, albeit packaged differently. We do this because stories stick—we share a tale to our kids, and the next thing you know, that story has been passed on to your grandkids.Watch today's episode where I share how stories make such a great impact on our kids and how us, parents, can use them in telling them what they need to know about life.Recommended Books mentioned in this episode:Science of Storytelling by Will Storrhttps://www.amazon.com/Science-Storytelling-Stories-Human-Better-ebook/dp/B07WXJTR9Q/Storyworthy by Matthew Dickshttps://www.amazon.com/Storyworthy-Engage-Persuade-through-Storytelling-ebook/dp/B07CV2PFYJ-Follow us on all channelWebsite: https://teevee.mxPodcast: https://teevee.fm
