It's becoming harder and harder to “do what is right according to the Bible” in the culture in which we live. But if we know and believe, that “abiding in Christ, and knowing the truth sets us free,” then we must strive now courageously to live faithful lives. Some say that there is a “heavy price to pay for that.” Maybe, but it's worse to live lives of faithless fear in the face of bullying and temptation. Remember, Jesus says that He has come to give us abundant life…..courageous faith loves to hear that!
In a world of secular chaos, the Church can't just hide behind “religious liberty” it must present its voice as one of beauty and virtue. As believers we seek to share the good news of the Bible with anyone who will listen, but we also have a role to play in blessing and preserving our culture too. KEY POINTS…. To be Church, more and more we must “contend” for our spot in the public conversation. We must try to be an alternative, constructive voice for beauty and virtue. As Christians, we have a role to play in bringing beauty to a world committed merely to deconstructive ugliness, virtuous to a world committed to immoral libertinism Even though it's hard to be the voice of God's “no” and God's “yes,” on God's terms for others, our culture needs it now more than ever. We are “blessed to be a blessing,”… to strive to be a voice of morality, a people dedicated to beauty in the arts, to relationships, to community. To be people who strive to live virtuous lives.
Christmas comes every year, and for those who trust in Christ, that is a very good thing indeed. The holiday is a reminder that no matter what is going on in the world, or in our lives, that faith in Christ is key….and ordering our lives towards “Faith, Family, Friends, Community, and only when necessary, government” is the way to keep things in balance and to keep the power of proper priorities in living life abundantly. KEY POINTS…. Christmas time is a time to be refreshed, and to reorient our lives to what is valuable and enduring The Bible tells us to “Seek first the Kingdom of God” and all others things will find their proper place A biblical ordering of life: Faith, Family, Friends, Community, and only when necessary, government
The New Year is a reminder that we can begin afresh, right wrongs, learn from mistakes and live a better life. The doctors discuss various lessons from Charles Dicken's, A Christmas Carol.
American Psychological Association conducted a survey with 38% of those surveyed saying their stress increases during the holiday season. Even more serious, the National Alliance on Mental Illness recently reported that 64% of individuals living with a mental illness feel that their conditions worsen around the holidays. These survey participants stated the following reasons for why they feel glum: lack of time, financial pressure, gift-giving, and family gatherings. Let me say that again, lack of time, financial pressure, gift-giving, and family gatherings.
December is “ADVENT TIME” for those who really celebrate Christmas. An understanding that gives wisdom and power to really receive the blessings of Christmas and face whatever needs to be faced in life. What is this “advent focus” and how does it reorient our lives to the power of God for salvation? Why is it good to march to the beat of a different drummer when that drummer is Jesus Christ…..

Social media use can negatively impact teens and young adults, distracting them, disrupting their sleep, exposing them to peer pressure, rumor spreading, and unrealistic views of other's lives, so they make poor comparisons and decisions. These risks might be related to time spent on social media. Tune in as Doctors Marie and Greg Seltz interview Peter Ryan, a former Navy Captain with 28 years of active service. He is a happily married husband and father of four. He has studied the effects that screen-based personal technology is having on individuals. He advocates for increased Department of Defense awareness and action regarding the impact of excessive screen use by our military men and women. He authored “Technology, The New Addiction”; which was published in the September 2018 edition of the U.S. Navy Journal, Proceedings. Human life bears the image of God and, therefore, has intrinsic value and dignity (Genesis 1:27; 1 Corinthians 11:7a). Furthermore, human life begins at conception—as Scripture tells us, “You knit me together in my mother's womb,”—and every person is “fearfully and wonderfully made” by Him (Psalm 139:13-16) A forthcoming Supreme Court decision this month in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization could overturn Roe v. Wade, which would mark a historic turning point in the fight for unborn life. Nearly one million pregnancies are terminated every year in the United States, with a disproportionate impact on Black and Latino unborn lives. Family Vision Media affirms the right to life of the unborn and rebukes the moral crime of demanding and celebrating abortion within American society. As pro-life Christians, we call on states, pending the ruling of the Supreme Court in Dobbs v. Jackson, to pursue laws and reforms that uphold the sanctity of life, reduce abortions, and treat all human life with dignity. The National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) Educational Fund in DC today released its 2022 Latino Vote Projections and according to the projections, Latinos will play a decisive role in the 2022 midterm elections, closely mirroring 2018's historic turnout numbers, with projected increases in the key battleground states of Arizona, Colorado, and Nevada. How Latino's vote will impact the parent's voice in how children are educated, how tax money supports abortions, our right to make decisions regarding our health and under-tested vaccines, and so much more. LEXIT was co-founded in 2018 by Jesse Holguin after he realized that Latinos were being misinformed and used by the Democratic Party in order to keep their vote and leave them powerless. Since its formation, #LEXIT has been moving with a fierce strategic momentum – organizing multiple rallies and events throughout the nation. In addition, LEXIT utilizes its extensive social media platforms. The Trump administration invited Jesse 6 times to the White House to attend events and represent the Latino voice. #LEXIT has no plans to stop or slow down until all Latinos are educated that they don't have to vote Democrat because the media says so. The Lord uses broken pieces for His good purpose. Jesse Holguin is an ex-gang member that gave his life to Christ. He founded LEXIT to help educate Latinos and encourage them to vote Godly moral values. LEXIT is the largest conversative Latino organization in America from chapters all over America. “No Higher Authority than God? –The Epicentral Question.” “If politics can't save us, what will?” Good politics respects vocation and proper lines of authority, especially the authority of parents with their children. Under all the issues today from CRT to SOGI laws is the question, “Who rightfully has the authority to properly deal with these things?” Why this matters more today than ever. Church, Family, then government...why the proper line of authority matters both biblically, and constitutionally. We live in a time where authority and responsibility are being overtly and covertly taken away from parents and individuals. Families are being replaced by government agencies and/or bureaucracies. This is an attack on the biblical and constitutional concept of individual liberty and responsibility. We saw it with COVID, yet, the greater threats are in areas like education and raising children that government rules, regulations, and deceptions continue to pressure parents and families to give over their responsibility to so-called “experts.” The solution is to assert anew one's personal, parental authority and responsibility to raise and educate our children morally and ethically as defined biblically moral and ethical. The solution is to make sure the political environment respects or at least offers such a choice. We live in a time when Christians are often caricatured, and/or negatively reported in the news when the news should be good news. Christians need to remember that the truth is always what matters, and things can be better than they seem. Every January, Christians and others who support/defend the “sanctity of life” for all descend on Washington D.C. for the largest “human rights protest” in the world. The sanctity of life is a fundamental principle for human thriving that is becoming more “popular today” because people have done the hard work of defending and sharing even when it seemed unpopular. Pro-life is pro-woman, pro-family, pro-science, pro-fathers, pro-community, and this year “Pro-equality for the mother and the unborn child.” Our message is universal… your life matters, your life has purpose and dignity, and your life is sacred from God. Keep getting to know the ones you love and make new acquaintances with engaging and interesting questions. In a world inundated by technology, politics, and crises, we often forget that it is our personal relationships that really matter for our purpose and happiness. With so many distractions and choices, we can be tempted to forget that loving those God brings into our lives is the key to life. In the New Year…take time to step back and strive to “get-to-know” the ones you love, the ones who love you and make new friends. It's not the decorations, the parties, or even the family celebrations, it's the Message! Christmas ultimately isn't a religious call to do things better. Christmas is a message, a proclamation of what God had done/does for a world that can not help itself. Dr. Marie interviews Kevan Chandler is an avid storyteller, author of We Carry Kevan, TedX Speaker, adventurer, and international traveler. Kevan was born with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), a genetic disease affecting the part of the nervous system controlling voluntary muscle movement. Americans are drowning in fear. Fear of global warming, economic collapse, COVID 19... etc. And, unfortunately, politicians, media, even "entertainment" peddle in fear. Who/what are you going to believe? Rational vs. Irrational fears... knowing the difference and why does it matter. Irrational fear or courageous freedom, one is abdicating life, the other is living it... Christians are called to live to its fullest in faith towards God and fervent love towards others. Critical Race Theory: Teaches children to judge someone by biological factors they cannot control or change. CRT instills guilt and shame. Gender Ideology: Asks children to question their biological gender. It confuses the children at vulnerable stages of life. Schools are transitioning children without parental knowledge, hiding “required” CRT and Gender Ideology curriculum from parents. The Virginia election was an amazing victory for parents and common sense. It exposed the disdain that many of our elected officials have for regular people, for parents, and parental authority of their own children. Parents rejected CRT and Gender Ideology curriculum secretly forced on their children. Parents rejected the propagandizing of their children and the implication that educators supersede the authority of parents. It's November, it's thanksgiving time…why a thanksgiving perspective on life is good psychologically, socially, and even culturally. Thanksgiving and purpose are perspectives that help us achieve, face our challenges with creativity, perseverance, and resolve. So many today misunderstand the public debate about marriage. No matter what your view about marriage, the public debate is about the State's involvement in marriage, the changing of long held social mores through coercive policy/legislation, and the enforcement or lack of enforcement of basic laws that incentivize healthy families for the sake of the common good of the culture. Understanding that marriage is MORE than a relationship, it's an institution means that the State can't be neutral to the basics of marriage while at the same time not taking over the roles that are best played by fathers and mothers for the sake of their children. Choosing a partner is about more than chemistry. Two uniting as one, the way scripture states, with the husband as the head of the household provides the more stable, long-lasting, more fulfilling relationship for everybody. This type of relationship invites a partnership where the woman will feel safe, valued, secure, and loved. In turn, she will respect her husband, and trust him to take of her and the children when things get bumpy. The groom, the husband, represents Christ. The 50-50 concept that's floating around today, it's a complete and utter fallacy. It's sheer nonsense. It doesn't work. Who has the ultimate authority to decide what our children learn in the classroom? The demotion of the family is an ongoing reality in our culture. Today, teachers can participate in a minor's abortion, or bring children to a sex change advocating doctor and therapist, if they believe a child is struggling with their sexual identity all without the parent's co The take-over of the parental authority to raise up children in the virtues of a quality education demonstrates that there is a radical disagreement about what those important values and virtues actually are. The modern debate is about what those values actually entail and in teaching about the fundamental issues of our culture. Is America fundamentally racist, sexist, and oppressive, or are we a country of freedom, justice, and equality before the law where people can come and live their best lives? That is the main responsibility of parents. We are to instill in our children value and purpose. This past month, the Supreme Court ruled 9-0 that a Catholic Foster Care organization could keep helping needy children. What was their "crime?" The actions that caused them to almost be litigated out of business? The fact that they believe and teach that marriage is to be between a man and a woman for life. That's it. Yes, increasingly the moral teachings of the Bible are not merely dismissed, they are being made illegal. How did we get to the point where 9 justices are now making or remaking the fundamental moral teachings of our culture, our communities, our education, even seeking to determine the teachings in our homes and in our Churches? How indeed. The 9-0 Fulton Case may be a "victory" for now, but the work to proclaim the moral teachings of the Bible for all is going to get harder in the days to come. Time to roll up our sleeves, especially amidst the small victories of the moment. Scripture Mentioned in this Episode Judges 21:25 In those days there was no king in Israel. Equality is the foundation of a free society. It means equal access to things like education, participation in the political process, and equal justice before the law. It means everyone begins at the same starting line. It's this idea that made this quote from Dr. Martin Luther King so powerful: “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character." Equity is about ensuring that everyone's outcomes are the same at the end, regardless of each person's unique gifts, abilities, hard work, perseverance, or attitude towards others or themselves. Can you imagine all the choices that would have to be taken away from us, and made for us, in order for that to happen? It would be a terrible world to live in. Equity is a corrosive and destructive concept contrary to equality. As a therapist, the worst kinds of parents are parents who dictate and control the outcome of their children every step of the way. Can you imagine in if every one of your children had to end up exactly the same? If you had to deny their individual skills, their unique temperament, their effort, their persevering spirit, struggles. You would have to literally squash all of that and spoon-feed them one way of looking at things. For those who have had uncaring parents, I think that the equity parents would be even worse.
