Ho-ho-ho we've gotten ourselves into a little predicament! Ethan and Mike have to save Santa by watching a bunch of Christmas movies! Luckily, they were planning on doing this anyway, so Santa should be good.We start with 8-bit Christmas. A movie about a boy in Chicago who wants nothing more than a Nintendo for Christmas. It's basically A Christmas Story mixed with The Goonies or Sandlot. Does it work, though or is it going to be another movie like Pixels?Don't forget to join our Discord for movie nights and additional podcast discussions!Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-other-half/exclusive-contentAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
We're back with a traditional BFYTW episode. Aaron hosts three games between AugieDoggie and MidnightSmoke in a Robot Themed episode. Game 1 - Like Share BlockStory 1 - Robot Sets Guinness Record for Walking 100 Kilometers in Three Days https://www.globaltimes.cn/page/202511/1348722.shtml Story 2 - AI Teddy Bear Inexplicably Pulled From Market After Giving Kids BDSM Advice and Talked About Where to Find Knives https://edition.cnn.com/2025/11/19/tech/folotoy-kumma-ai-bear-scli-intl Story 3 - Researchers Create Computer Chips Powered by Shittake Mushrooms https://news.osu.edu/powered-by-mushrooms-living-computers-are-on-the-rise/ Game 2 - Pop Culture Fight Club The game of answering a tough question and defending your position returns! I'll ask each player for the best something or their favorite something from the world of pop culture, and they'll have to explain and defend themselves as best they can, and the best answer as judged by me will get two episode points. This week, I've been inspired by technology. There's lots of cool real-world technological innovations that are exciting, and none of them use generative AI, but I'm more curious about the world of the imagination. What technology from the world of video games do you most wish we had in real life? Game 3 - The Cost is Correct I've got three recent auctions that have sold, and my players are going to take turns bidding to try and bid as close as they can to the final auction price without going over. We're doing 'final bids' rules, so they'll bid back and forth, and I will announce final bids when one of them EITHER is very close to the final auction price OR they have gone over.Promos From the Middle & Married w/ TVhttps://peakimprov.com/shows-eventsPromos Crooked Table & NoDak NerdProudly Sponsored by Peace, Love, & Budhttps://www.plbud.com/Shoutouts to our Patrons; Mexi, Justin B, Kristin F ,Jeramey F ,Flaose, Todd, Jim, Flaos, Bridget F., David M., Dave A, Erin S, Donna/Colin Maggs,The GateLeapers, Kacey S., William M., Crunchie, DJ Xanthus, Crystal D., Jeff S, Gina W., 8Bit, Matt.Free Followers on Patreon: Joáo C, Joep, Leonardo, Irsya Cahyo, Teanna Cm Lucho D.Founding Members of @OddPodsMedia https://www.patreon.com/BFYTWShow Music by @KeroseneLetter and @Mexigun Our Merch Available by contacting us.https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCyJG-PDn6su32Et_eSiC6RQ

(but thanks for that quote anyway). Hosted by Klein, Ally, and a cast of weirdos (both on the team and from their audience), the show is known for its raw, offbeat style, offering a mix of sarcastic banter, candid interviews, and an unfiltered take on everything from culture to the chaos of everyday life. With a loyal, engaged fanbase and an addiction for pushing boundaries, the show delivers the perfect blend of humor and insight, all while keeping things fun, fresh, and sometimes a little bit illegal. 2024 © 2021 Audacy, Inc. Charlie Rosen is a Grammy award-winning musician, composer, and arranger whose work sits at the intersection of jazz, pop, and video game nostalgia. As the founder and leader of The 8-bit Big Band, a 35-piece jazz-pops orchestra, he had transformed classic video game soundtracks into virtuosic symphonic showstoppers. Under his direction, the ensemble has reimagined themes from Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, and Sonic the Hedgehog, with flair—earning critical acclaim, viral attention, and a devoted global audience. The band's latest album, Orchestrator Emulator, was named Jazz Album of the Week by The Sunday Times and continues my guest's mission to build what he calls “The Great Video Game Songbook.”Become a My Perfect Console supporter and receive a range of benefits at www.patreon.com/myperfectconsoleTake the Acast listener survey to help shape the show: My Perfect Console with Simon Parkin Survey 2025 Hosted on Acast. From the springy jump sound to the iconic Overworld Theme, the sound of Super Mario Bros. is instantly recognizable. With just five lo-fi audio channels and 40 kilobytes of space, composer Koji Kondo created a soundscape full of unforgettable melodies. In this episode, we explore how Kondo's playful instincts, rhythmic trickery, and love of jazz fusion defined the sound of Mario. Creating a musical score for interactive video games is like trying to hit a moving target. Luckily, Hans Zimmer's studio Bleeding Fingers has developed some clever strategies. I talk with their CEO Russell Emanuel and musicians Thom Lukas and Giovanni Rios about how they create innovative scores for games like Arknights, and why they thrive under creative limitations. Grammy-winning video game composer Winifred Phillips discusses how she builds adaptive scores that shift and respond to unpredictable gameplay. And video game historian and RPI professor William Gibbons explains why the technological limitations of ‘80s and ‘90s games actually fueled composers' creativity.
