This week Augie is ill...luckily we have Erin to fill his seat to team up with Stevie. Their rivals are the Two Jeffs with 3 Fs between them, from Suggested Articles.Game 1 - Like Share Block I've got three AI-related news stories, all our players have to do is figure out which I would like, which I would share, and which I would block on social media. There is only one for each, and the correct combination was decided by me before the show. Whichever team guesses correctly, or if neither does, whoever is closest, wins the game and earns one episode point. Story 1 - AI-Generated Lawyer Gets Shut Down Immediately By Angry Judges - https://apnews.com/article/artificial-intelligence-ai-courts-nyc-5c97cba3f3757d9ab3c2e5840127f765 Story 2 - McDonald's Ends AI-Powered Drive-Thru After Frustrated Customers Complain Orders Are Comically Wrong - https://www.theguardian.com/business/article/2024/jun/17/mcdonalds-ends-ai-drive-thru Story 3 - Elon Musk's AI, Grok, Falsely Accuses NBA Star Klay Thompson of Throwing Bricks at People's Houses - https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2024/04/elon-musks-grok-keeps-making-up-fake-news-based-on-x-users-jokes/ Game 2 - Just Correlate Teams will alternate choosing from six keyboard keys, CTRL, ALT, DEL, INSERT, HOME, and END - behind each is a set of four seemingly-random clues that have something in common in the world of pop culture. Teams have 40 seconds to reveal as many clues as they wish. If the team can solve it after one clue, they get 5 points, two clues, 3 points, three clues, 2 points, and if they need all four clues, they get one point. Failure to solve means we reveal all four clues to their opponents, and if they can solve it, they get 1 point. The team with the most points after all six keys have been revealed wins the game and earns two episode points. And to stay within theme, all six sets of clues were written by generative AI. Which means I had to clean them all up, otherwise this would be IMPOSSIBLE.Game 3 - The Cost is Correct I've got five items that recently went up for auction, our teams will take turns bidding, and the player who bids closest to the final auction bid without going over wins the listing for their team. The first team to win three listings wins the game and earns three episode points.Promos this week @fromthemidpod @GrabthebrisketProudly Sponsored by Peace, Love, & Budhttps://www.plbud.com/Shoutouts to our Patrons; Mexi, Justin B, Kristin F ,Jeramey F ,Flaose, Todd, Jim, Flaos, Bridget F., David M., Dave A, Erin S, Donna/Colin Maggs,The GateLeapers, Kacey S., William M., Crunchie, DJ Xanthus, Crystal D., Jeff S.Free Followers on Patreon: Joáo C, Joep, Leonardo, Irsya Cahyo, Teanna Cm Lucho D.Founding Members of @OddPodsMedia https://www.patreon.com/BFYTWShow Music by @KeroseneLetter and @Mexigun Our Merch Available by contacting us.https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCyJG-PDn6su32Et_eSiC6RQwww.BFYTWpod.com

Becca Mann is a writer and athlete. A member of the USA Swimming National Team from 2012 until 2021, Becca is a 2x USA National Champion and was the youngest person ever to place in the Top 10 in 4 events at a single Olympic Trials. She has also represented Team USA at 4 World Championships. Becca initially fell in love with the solitude, power and efficiency that swimming offered but was ultimately motivated by the ability to consistently achieve goals. Whether moving to a more advanced lane, breaking a school record, breaking a state record or becoming a world champion, each small goal led to an even bigger one. No matter how big the goal was, her mindset stayed the same. She maintained the same pre-race routine (as it had worked before) and reminded herself that every meet was the most important meet of her life. After missing her 3rd Olympic team, she decided that if she was going to walk away, she would need to do something that had never been done before. With clear understanding and mastery of her mental strengths and vulnerabilities including OCD, she became the first person to have consecutively swum the triangle between the Hawaiian islands of Maui, Molokai, and Lanai. This life defining experience allowed her to redefine her relationship with swimming and reminded herself that it is supposed to be fun. Becca Mann shares her struggles, insights and knowledge in her latest book, “Outside the Lanes.” @becca__mann

Join Lexi Reese, CEO of Lanai, as she shares insights on enterprise AI adoption, discussing the significant gap between AI interest and implementation where executives prioritize AI yet 90% of organizations remain observers. She explains how companies are evolving from blocking AI to selective enablement through governance committees, but this approach is breaking as AI proliferates across every SaaS application, creating backlogs and inefficiencies. Lexi emphasizes the importance of viewing AI as a teammate rather than just a tool, advocating for organizations to foster experimentation with appropriate guardrails while identifying and scaling successful use cases across departments.

Andrew For America talks about how ego and fear prevents people from honestly considering, analyzing, and understanding controversial/conspiratorial information. He then plays a clip of Blackrock CEO Larry Fink talking about how with the rise of populism and social media they are losing the public trust, and Fink claims he wants to restore that trust…but then Andrew follows up with a clip of Avi and Ezra from Rebel News approaching Fink in the streets of Davos and attempting to ask him some controversial questions, resulting in Fink remaining silent and even taking pictures of the journalists (insinuating a threat)! So much for trust huh Mr. Fink?! Andrew also plays a clip of Larry Ellison (owner of Oracle corporation and the Hawaiian island of Lanai) talking about how drone and surveillance technology will provide total control of society and will destroy our privacy! Andrew also plays a clip of Anthony Fauci back in the 80's during the AIDS outbreak talking about “introducing infections into a population,” and then follows it with a clip of comedian Andrew Schultz talking about Fauci's pardon and asking the question, “what's in my arm man?” Andrew ends by playing clips of medical professionals criticizing Fauci and his colleagues as well as questioning the efficacy of ALL vaccines. The song selection is the song, “Snake in the Grass” by the band Much The Same.Visit allegedlyrecords.com and check out all of the amazing punk rock artists! We are joined by the ladies of On the Lanai podcast, so we had to do a special Golden Girls episode. Erin, Gina, Jodi, and Kristin take on Augie and Stevie in three Golden Girls themed games hosted by Published Author Aaron Randolph.Game 1 - Codenames I've got twenty facts about four famous people or fictional characters, and all each team has to do is tell me which person I'm talking about. There's just one little teeny-tiny eeny-weeny wrinkle. You can't - EVER - mention the person by their name, you can ONLY use their codename. If you say any of the four possibilities' real names during deliberations or when answering, your turn is over and we move on. The team with the most points wins the game and earns one episode point. Game 2 - Pitch Me Baby One More Time I'll give each team a pop culture property and a special circumstance or obstacle they'll have to integrate, and they'll take turns pitching me their idea. The best pitch wins, and earns their team two episode points. (Considering the unbalanced teams, only two members of On the Lanai need to pitch ideas, Stevie and Augie both have to pitch) The year is 1993. The Golden Girls ended last year, as irreconcilable differences and allegations forced an end to it, but YOU have managed to smooth all of that over with no bruising of anyone's egos, and now a reunion is on the table. All you're allowed to do is a one-shot movie or short mini-series, but your creativity is unlimited - you may pitch a perfect wrap-up, or send them on a new adventure, or cross them over with another property (though it must have existed prior to 1993). The choice is yours. Pitch me. Game 3 - The Cost is Correct I've got five items that have recently sold at auction, and all our players have to do is bid closest to the final auction price without going over. (The On the Lanai team will cycle two players for every item, so there are always four bidders) The first team to win three listings wins the game and earns three episode points.Promo @BeerInFront @fromthemidpodProudly Sponsored by Peace, Love, & Budhttps://www.plbud.com/Shoutouts to our Patrons; Mexi, Justin B, Kristin F ,Jeramey F ,Flaose, Todd, Jim, Flaos, Bridget F., David M., Dave A, Erin S, Donna/Colin Maggs,The GateLeapers, Kacey S., William M., Crunchie, DJ Xanthus, Crystal D.Free Followers on Patreon: Joáo C, Joep, Leonardo, Irsya Cahyo, Teanna Cm Lucho D.Founding Members of @OddPodsMedia https://www.patreon.com/BFYTWShow Music by @KeroseneLetter and @Mexigun Our Merch Available by contacting us.https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCyJG-PDn6su32Et_eSiC6RQwww.BFYTWpod.comhttps://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100094350980128TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@bfytwpod

It's Christmas this week on the So-Cast Pod, but the yuletide is not particularly gay for Rickie, who has been cast out of the house and has nowhere to go. Fortunately, a mysterious folk singer appears to watch over him (kind of? A little unclear how she's actually helping) and Patty's two Christmas wishes are that the family go to church and that Brian shut the hell up for once. Meanwhile, Danielle points out that all this talk about religion is putting a real damper on the Christmas season. We've got a cavalcade of podcast guests this week to break down the most famous episode of the series: From Out on the Lanai, H. Alan Scott and Kerri Doherty; from Basic Folk, Cindy Howes; and from Linoleum Knife Alonso Duralde (whose new book Hollywood Pride is not to be missed!).

If you're considering visiting multiple islands during your vacation, here are some tips to help you plan how to island hop in Hawaii effectively. Visiting more than one island in Hawaii offers a rich tapestry of experiences, each island presenting its own unique charms and landscapes. From the vibrant energy of Oahu's Waikiki Beach and the historical sites of Pearl Harbor to the tranquil beauty of Maui's sunrise atop Haleakalā and the dramatic cliffs of the Na Pali Coast in Kauai, each island beckons with its own allure. Island hopping allows travelers to delve into Hawaii's diverse cultures, cuisines, and natural wonders, creating a journey filled with unforgettable moments and a deeper appreciation for the aloha spirit that unites these enchanting islands. How to get between the Islands By Air - The most common and convenient way to island hop in Hawaii is by taking inter-island flights. Most of the planes are modern jets. Southwest uses MAX 737s. Several airlines, such as Hawaiian Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and Mokulele Airlines, offer frequent flights between the major islands. The flight duration between islands is usually short, ranging from 20 minutes to an hour depending on the distance. By Ferry - Since the pandemic, there's only a ferry between Maui and Lanai. Therefore, it's not suited for inter-island travel unless you want to go for a day trip. The ferry service connecting Lanai and Maui is managed by Expeditions. They offer dependable and budget-friendly transportation, operating seven days a week with multiple daily trips. The journey lasts approximately an hour, crossing the picturesque Auau Channel. Passengers are treated to stunning vistas of Maui County, encompassing the islands of Maui, Lanai, Molokai, and Kahoolawe. On days of clear skies, lucky travelers may even catch sight of the distant Big Island of Hawaii. Private Charter- Unless you have big bucks, this is likely not an option. You can also charter private planes or boats to hop between islands. This gives you more flexibility in terms of scheduling and allows you to explore less-visited destinations. Cruise Ship - The NCL Pride of America is a great choice for traveling between the islands and it's like a floating hotel, so you only have to pack and unpack once. While this won't give you as much time on each island compared to staying there, it can be a relaxing and enjoyable way to experience the beauty of the islands. Hawaii Inter-Island Planning Tips Traveling between the islands gives you the opportunity to see more of what each island has to offer. Typically, you need at least three or four nights to get a fully immersive experience, so depending on how long you plan to visit, it probably makes sense to choose islands that contrast each other nicely. For example, choosing Oahu and Hawaii Island would be contrasting. Book in Advance - For most people, this must be done in advance because there is a lot involved. It's pretty much a travel day, and you have to have a hotel reservation and transportation reservation for many of the best attractions well in advance. More and more county-maintained parks and attractions require reservations. You also want to make sure you have preferred flights that align with your schedule. Pack light - Less is better when it comes to luggage. Not only does it help avoid baggage fees, but it also allows you to move quicker between the islands because you'll have less to lug around with you. Additionally, if you are traveling with more than three or four people, you'll need room for luggage in your rental car! Also be aware that things like Hiking poles, Spear guns, Surfboards, and guns may be prohibited or have restrictions. Flight timing—Check-in is typically at 3 or 4 PM for most hotels, so if you wish to travel to another island and check in immediately, it may not be possible. Consider traveling earlier and engaging in an activity before checking into your hotel. ...

I've lived in Hawaii for almost three decades, primarily in the southern part of the island in an area known as Hawaii Kai. If you're on Oahu, I highly recommend stopping in this community before heading along the coast. This community is the gateway to Hawaii's most beautiful coastline; the Ka Iwi Coast, located approximately 15 miles south of Waikiki. Getting there is an easy, short drive from Waikiki, and along the way is Koko Marina Shopping Center. It's the perfect stop for an early morning breakfast before exploring the coast or spending the day at Hanauma Bay. Here, you'll find local shops, restaurants, and the famous Leonard's Malasada truck. Malasadas are Hawaii's answer to doughnuts, and people flock from all over the world to try them. This coastal stretch spans about 8 miles and features numerous must-see attractions. I frequently hike along this coastline, which has made it an intimately familiar place, and I consistently find it awe-inspiring. Ka Iwi" in Hawaiian means "the bone," and there are multiple interpretations of how it was named. However, it is generally believed that the name serves as a reminder of the significant importance that bones hold, as they are believed to contain "Mana," or a person's soul. It is also thought that Ka Iwi coast was one of the first landing sites for the Native Hawaiians who arrived from Polynesia on Oahu. You can take as little or as much time as you like to explore the coast, and there are a couple of stops where you can pause and spend the day, if you wish. For example, you could spend the day at Hanauma Bay or combine the Makapuu Lighthouse hike with an afternoon swim at Waimanalo Beach, a little further up the coast. If you want to take a scenic drive, the coast is perfect for that and will take about an hour to complete, with short stops at the various lookouts along the way. These are the highlights to explore; China Walls China Walls Cliffs Just South of Koko Marina, you can discover China Walls. It's accessed from the Portlock residential neighborhood via a park at Hanepepe Place. It's known for its dramatic natural rock formations, which create a series of cliffs and ledges along the shoreline. Visitors should know that cliff jumping can be dangerous and should exercise caution if considering it. Koko Crater As you continue south on Kalanianaole Highway, you'll see a lookout on the left side with a view of Koko Crater. Feel free to park your car and capture some photos, and be sure to glance back toward Waikiki for a spectacular view of the south side, including Diamond Head. Koko Crater Lookout Lanai Lookout After passing Hanauma Bay, you'll come across Lanai Lookout. On a clear day, you can spot the islands of Lanai and Molokai, which is how it got its name. During the winter months, which is whale-watching season, you might even catch sight of whales breaching in the ocean. Lanai Lookout - Ka Iwi Coast Halona Blowhole The next attraction is the Halona Blow Hole as you proceed along the coast. It's a natural geyser that ejects a spray of water when wave energy collides with the rocky shoreline. Additionally, there's an access point to Halona Beach Cove, which you can reach via a steep pathway adjacent to the parking area. This may look familiar since it's a popular filming location for Movies and TV shows. Halona Blow Hole Sandy Beach Park Sandy's, as locals commonly call it, is a stretch of golden sandy beach situated at the foot of Koko Crater. The beach isn't particularly safe for swimming due to the strong shore break. However, if you are an experienced boogie boarder or bodysurfer, this is the ideal spot for you. Alternatively, I recommend simply driving through and making a stop at the tide pools just beyond the beach. You can dip your toes in the water or wade in if you prefer. Sandy Beach Park Makapuu Lookout and Lighthouse The final destination along the coast is Makapu...

Chad is 60 years old and has been on the carnivore diet for over 3.5 years, and Keto for 1 year before that. He has been married for over 24 years with a wonderful wife and 2 great kids ages 14 and 19. They currently reside in Phoenix, Arizona. Now that he is back in shape, he enjoys living a healthier and happier life. He can now revisit his passions like backpacking and bike riding. Before he became significantly overweight, his younger years were filled with activity. In his early 20s, he taught snowboarding and, for 8 years, he taught scuba diving for 15 years until his early 40s, primarily on Lanai, Maui, and in the Caribbean. He was the typical lean and fit scuba/beach guy weighing 178 lbs. Being young and highly active, he could indulge in any food of his choice. He often consumed excessive amounts of rice, sugary teriyaki sauce, and other sugary treats, although he also ate plenty of fish and fresh meat. Unfortunately, he developed a lung problem due to volcanic gases, which forced him to move to the mainland. His activity levels decreased, his dietary habits worsened, and he could no longer pursue hunting or fishing. He gained weight and stopped monitoring his weight when he reached 275 lbs, frustrated by his deteriorating condition. This led to a period of depression. He tried various diets, including green juicing, but none seemed to work. While the Keto diet improved how he felt, it didn't help him lose weight. He often found himself consuming too many "substitute" foods which didn't help him break old eating habits. Then, he discovered the Carnivore diet, and it transformed his life. In the first year of his carnivore journey, he returned to his former weight of 178 lbs, reminiscent of his 20s and 30s. For the subsequent 2.5 years, he has effortlessly maintained this weight: always satiated, never falling ill, and exercising with impressive recovery rates. All the benefits he'd heard about the Carnivore diet proved true for him. In addition to the weight loss, the severe allergies he had even in his younger years have now completely disappeared, which he finds nothing short of miraculous. His persistent sinusitis has also vanished, and he no longer experiences joint pain. Today, he leads a highly active life, and his sleep quality has drastically improved. He wakes up naturally with the sunrise, something he couldn't do before. He often remarks that he started the Carnivore diet for weight loss but continues because of the rejuvenating benefits it offers. His next venture is to focus on building strength and muscle at 60 years of age. He plans to work out with "intention", and embark on a biweekly, year-long fun YouTube challenge named "carnivore strong" alongside two other Carnivore YouTube acquaintances. What's better than watching Betty White curse out a bunch of cops? We can't think of much — other than getting the chance to gush about it for an hour and a half. And we knew that if we were going to do that, we had to bring in the experts. So we invited Out on the Lanai, the first Golden Girls podcast, to join us on a new Spooky Tuesday as we covered Lake Placid (1999). Half a creature feature and half a Bill Pullman rom-com, this flick features Bridget Fonda mid-breakup spiral as she drags her butt out to the boonies of Maine to flirt with lady cops, banter with eccentric billionaires, and hunt for prehistoric monsters. Whether you're comparing it to The Meg or to Nope or to Ally McBeal, there's no denying that this movie makes for one golden time with the girls.Follow Out on the Lanai on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. Check out their new episodes weekly on Apple and Spotify. You can find Kerri Doherty on Instagram and Twitter, and H. Alan Scott on Instagram as himself and as Sadie Pines. Doesn't today feel like a Friday? David Waldman thinks so and prepares us for the weekend, although in the back of his head David's preparing for his upcoming vacation week swimming with the pigs off Little Exuma... which reminded him of the sixth largest island in the Hawaiian archipelago, colloquially known as “Pineapple Island”, Lana'i. Did you know that “Lanai” is an architectural feature, prominent in southern states, a sort of a patio with a roof, or an unenclosed porch? That reminded David of… Say, this does feel like a Friday, doesn't it? Anyhow, David was reminded of that Florida man and his wife lighting up the pool boy with thirty AR-15 rounds when he turned up late one night. That dude sure messed with the wrong lanai. Where were we? Oh yes, the Supreme Court. They saved America for Asian Americans yesterday by routing a new generation of Black people into the Armed Forces and the prison system. Clarence Thomas finally got to win that argument he had back in college, just to have fellow Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson “OK Boomer” him. This could encourage more people to read up on Black History, but what college is going to teach it to them? Then again, who can afford to go? Then SCOTUS cut LGBTQ protections in favor of religious liberties. Really, the weekend can't come soon enough for those guys.
