When it comes to California rock, no one does it quite like Counting Crows. They've sold more than 20 million albums, captivating listeners with their soulful sound and roof-raising live performances. They've returned to tour the world 30 years after their global explosion, and they're kicking it off in 2026 with a March show in Auckland. Adam Duritz, founding member and frontman, told Andrew Dickens one of the things keeping them going after 30 years is “bloody-minded stubbornness”. “I dreamed of doing this my entire life,” he said. “I feel pretty lucky about the situation, and also pretty determined still.” “I really love it – it's all I ever wanted to do.” LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Amy Scott is an acclaimed documentary director known for intimate, artist-focused films that explore creativity, vulnerability, and legacy. Her latest film, Have You Seen Me Lately?, is part of HBO's Music Box series and focuses on Adam Duritz and Counting Crows. Send us a textA Galway street corner, a chance hello to Adam Duritz, and a sunglasses-off moment with Courtney Cox set the scene before we pour something special: Maker's Mark Cellar Aged 2025. We start with the nostalgia and then zero in on why this release feels different—same mash bill, new dimension—thanks to a cool limestone cellar that slows the dance between spirit and wood.We break down what matters for your glass. The blend leans 74% 11-year with 13- and 14-year components at 112.9 proof, and the profile announces itself on the nose with brown sugar, cinnamon, toasted oak, and that apple-pie cozy note. On the palate, it turns decadent but never cloying: orange and cherry like an old fashioned, chocolate and toasted almond like a pastry, and enough spice to remind you it's nearly 113 proof. The fruit shows up earlier than you'd expect from a wheated bourbon, while leather and tobacco stay in the background. If you've only known standard Maker's as sweet and light, this one bends the arc toward depth and balance. We also talk price, timing, and how to find a pour without burning your budget. MSRP lands at $175, with some secondary lift, so we tested by the ounce first—a move we recommend. Bigger retailers and smart whiskey bars will be your best bet, and if you spot it near retail, we'd grab it. Our ratings land strong, and we call it a top contender for year-end lists, especially for drinkers who want a dessert-ready sipper that doesn't need ice or a mixer to shine. If this kind of fruit-forward, cellar-shaped wheated bourbon sounds like your lane, come taste it with us, compare notes, and tell us what you're getting in the finish. Subscribe for more pours, share with a friend who underestimates Maker's, and leave a quick review so others can find the show. What bottle should we chase next?

Imagine waking up one day and feeling completely disconnected from your own life, almost like watching a film where you're the main character, but you feel nothing. That's the reality of depersonalisation disorder, a condition as common as bipolar but tragically under-recognised.Today's guest, Nathan Dunne, knows this all too well. After a late-night swim in a freezing lake, Nathan emerged to find his identity completely gone, memories distant, emotions erased, and his sense of self shattered. In his powerful memoir, When Nothing Feels Real, Nathan's intent is to shine a light on this hidden epidemic.According to research, depersonalisation is the most misdiagnosed of all mental illnesses – it's an invisible illness, which makes it terrifying for those experiencing it. Specialists estimate that anyone has a 1 in 50 chance of developing depersonalisation and there are currently around 585,000 Australians that have been diagnosed with DPD, but being tragically misdiagnosed and misunderstood by health professionals there are likely many more affected. In this episode, Nathan shares his raw and courageous journey, from misdiagnosis and isolation to advocacy and understanding. We dive into the science, the stigma, and the very real human cost of living with DPD. If you've ever wondered what it means to lose touch with who you are, and fight your way back, this conversation is one you won't forget. What is depersonalisation disorder?Depersonalisation/derealisation disorder involves a persistent or recurring feeling of being detached from one's body or mental processes, like an outside observer of one's life (depersonalisation) and/or a feeling of being detached from one's surroundings (derealisation). How common is it?Over half a million people in Australia (2.2% of the population) and 1.3 million in the UK have experienced it, making it as prevalent as bipolar, but far more difficult to diagnose. High-profile people with depersonalisation include musicians Kid Laroi, Counting Crow's Adam Duritz and SNL's Bowen Yang.In our interview, Nathan referred to Jane Charlton 2015 article which you can find HERE. And if you would like more information about where to go for help with Depersonalisation, Nathan suggests St Vincents Hospital in Sydney and this website: thiswayup.org.auFor more information about Nathan, check out these places;-Website: https://www.nathandunne.com/ Instagram: @nathanadunneHead to michellejcox.com for more information about the ONE QUESTION podcast, your host or today's guestsConnect with Michelle on Linkedin here:- @MichelleJCoxConnect with Michelle on Instagram here:- @michellejcoxConnect with Michelle on Facebook here - @michellejcoxAND, if you have a burning topic you'd love people to talk more about, or know someone who'd be great to come on the One Question podcast, please get in touch;- hello@michellejcox.com

This Week on America's Podcast Strap in, folks—this week we're diving headfirst into a swirling pool of flannel, feelings, and post-grunge gloom as we break down Counting Crows' August and Everything After with guests Travis Perrotta and Andy Rodriguez. Is this album a poetic masterpiece or just the sound of someone staring out a rainy window with a journal and a half-smoked cigarette? We ask the tough questions—like: Is this what happens when you quit heroin but keep the angst? And did Adam Duritz invent sad guy core? Tensions rise, opinions fly, and someone may or may not throw a metaphorical punch over the use of the accordion. No spoilers—but if you thought grunge was dramatic, wait 'til you hear these takes. Tracks of the Week (a.k.a. The Mixtape You Didn't Know You Needed): Jerry brings the Gin Blossoms and their codependent anthem "Hey Jealousy"—because what says love like passive aggression? Andy serves up Billy Idol's "Flesh for Fantasy"—because nothing says subtlety like leather pants and pelvic thrusts. Travis goes full night-creature with Blue Öyster Cult's "I Love the Night"—probably recorded under a full moon while making eye contact with a wolf. Marc gets soulful with "Living for the City" Slash ft. Tash Neal—because nothing's more punk than Stevie Wonder and civil rights. And The Mooger Fooger closes it out with "All the Dead Girls" by Dream Car—because apparently we're ending on a high note… in the goth sense. So until next week: stay off smack, hug your weird friends, and never trust a man with dreadlocks and a top hat unless he's holding an acoustic guitar. #countingcrows #freeformrockpodcast
