Are there good emotions and bad emotions? Should we be investing extra effort into only feeling certain emotions and avoiding others? Our guest this week, Dr. Kevin Chapman, would suggest that our full spectrum of emotions is a gift from God, even the ones we'd often prefer to eliminate. And through a better understanding of common external triggers, along with our thoughts and responses to them, we can master our emotions, better commune with God and others, and lean into emotional wellness.MORE FROM DR. Episode 71: TJ Manastersky. Fellow Oswego Alumni and current Head Coach of Brock University, TJ Manastersky, stopped by the prohockeypod this week. TJ grew up in the GTA area and would end up playing 5 years in the OJHL before heading off to D3 SUNY-Oswego. We swapped stories about Oswego, the great community support the team gets, Bridge Street Runs, and some funny memories of the historic Oswego/Plattsburgh rivalry. After College, TJ would play 1 year professionally in the SPHL before transitioning to coaching. He was given a chance to get his foot in the door at Canisius College for 2 season before going to SUNY-Fredonia. He would get his first Head Coaching job at Curry College where he stayed for 9 seasons, helping to turn the program around and become a strong contender. After a brief stop with D1 Union College, TJ would find a home at Brock University. It didn't take him long to make an impact. In his 2nd season, the team would have their best year in school program history and TJ would win Coach of the Year. One part of the interview that really stood out to me was when we talked about how TJ establishes his culture at his schools. He takes into consideration the school history/community involved as well as his players. How do they see the culture? What do they want to be viewed as? Questions like these. Ultimately this leads to teams creating their own identity and running with it. Another great episode so give it a listen and hope you enjoy!

Over the summer, Don't Touch My Podcast says, "Don't Touch my Politics" as we sit down with political candidates running for the Worcester City Council and School Committee seats. In this episode, we sit down with City Councilor Candidate, Feanna Jattan-Singh. More about Feanna: Feanna Jattan-Singh, is originally from North Carolina, with roots from Trinidad and Tobago, India, and Africa. She settled in the north when she attended Johnson & Wales University for International Business. After College, Feanna started a health and beauty business, and moved to MA when she got married. She moved to Worcester with her husband and family back in 2010. Since 2014 she has worked as a Substitute Teacher at Abby Kelley Foster Charter Public Elementary School. In 2017, Feanna got her Real Estate License and started her career in helping buyers buy their first home. Since then, she has expanded into helping both buyers, sellers, as well as renters to find housing. Feanna is also a member of the Kiwanis Club of Worcester where they do many projects to help the children of Worcester. One of those projects is giving gifts to the children of both Wawecus school and Union Hill Elementary school each year. This year Worcester Kiwanis also started a book program where we gave books to the students at Union Hill school. Aside from that, Feanna is also a member of the Board of Touchstone Community School where her 2 youngest children attend. She also volunteers at Liberty Church in Shrewsbury, MA in the Nursery, most Sunday mornings. Recently, she went on a trip to Kenya where the team did Leadership training for community leaders, gave out gifts to many students at seven different schools, and attended the first graduation ceremony for the Focus Dream Center Vocational and Technical College. Feanna decided to run for city council district 3 for Worcester, due to a lack of response from the current district 3 Councilor after advocating for a sidewalk for Sunderland Road for over 10 years. She is also trying to get the city to do something about the lack of accountability with the buses being so ineffective. Feanna is also advocating for more affordable housing in the city. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/donttouchmypodcast/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/donttouchmypodcast/support

In this episode of the #COSIGNConvesations Podcast we sat down with Taja V. Simpson, star of BET's hit show The Oval. We discussed her early beginnings, becoming an actress, entrepreneurship, teaching workshops, and the beauty industry. Taja V. Simpson is a Louisiana native of West African and European decent and her colorful background allows her to constantly bring new characters to life. She fell in love with acting when she was seven years old when she and her cousins would 'play pretend'. They would watch movies, learn all the lines and then act them out for fun. Her favorite movie at that time was Berry Gordy's "The Last Dragon" and to this day she can still recite all the lines in the movie. "Who's The Master? Sho-Nuff!" Although she loved acting at a young age, there weren't any programs or schools in Lake Charles, LA that would help cultivate that skill set. She went on to graduate from McNeese State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mass Communication and an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism. From there, she was on the path of being a News Reporter/Anchor. After College, she moved to Houston, TX but there was a still small voice in her that kept saying, 'you should try acting,' so she did. She enrolled in acting workshops and ended up winning three awards for her performances. (Best Actress, Best Overall Performance and People's Choice) Now, she was bit by the acting bug and there was no turning back. She would have never thought that 'playing pretend' with her family as a young child would also be what she ultimately would do for a living. Versatility is Taja's greatest accomplishments which is what lead her to guest star in multiple roles on some of the most popular television shows of our time. She received her first breakout role in The Bold & The Beautiful as Adele which she recurred on the show for over two years. Since then some of the shows she has appeared in are; Grey's Anatomy, NCIA, The Thundermans, NCIS:LA, The Soul Man, KC Undercover, and Lethal Weapon. Taja was widely known for her role as the fun and sassy wife opposite legendary Actor and Director Tyler Perry; in Lionsgate's "Tyler Perry's Boo2! A Madea Halloween," and can be seen as Priscilla Owen in BET's newest drama, Tyler Perry's "The Oval." Taja is also a film director with over 40 plus productions under her belt from stage plays to music videos and short films. Next up is directing television and her first feature. In her new book,"Cracking The Acting Code: A Practical Step By Step Guide To Becoming A Professional Actor", Taja shares her unique story and expertise from moving from a small town in Louisiana, making it on the big screen in Hollywood, and becoming one of the most trusted names in the entertainment business. In order to succeed in the entertainment industry its important to be multi-talented both on and off screen. From behind the scenes to being in front and center, Actor, Author, Director and Keynote Speaker Taja V. Simpson has proven just that.
