Welcome to our second ever EVENTUS (you have to whisper when you say that word tho). Last time we did TMNT's City Fall, this time we zeroed in on DC's Blackest Night! With Eventus, we record each issue separately, using the word "Eventus" as an audio page break for the listeners. It gives us the chance to deep dive into individual issues and roll with the event's twists and turns as they happen. So what do we think about the Black Lanterns trying to destroy the universe and every shred of light and life within it? Well listen in and find out, ya filthy animal. --Follow the Weapons on Twitter @Comic_Patrol for some extra tidbits of fun (we maybe promise it isn't dick pics)-- #numeatz #sawftcheeze

We are wrapping up the very spooky scary month of October with one of the most frightening Green Lantern tales covered on the show. This story finds most of our DC heroes facing evil resurrected versions of their dearly departed friends and family. With the sole purpose of feeding off of the emotional energy of the living, the increasing deadly force of what are now known as the Black Lanterns, continues to grow and appears to be unstoppable. Tune in as Chris, Mark, and Jesse discuss “Blackest Night.”

The dead are rising…but it is your fairly sick and unhealthy hosts, OR, is it the terrifying arrival of the Black Lanterns?!? Well, actually, a little of both. The podcasting event JLMay is back, and this time the subject is the epic crossover event from 2009, Blackest Night! In a weird coincidence, neither Mike nor Paul (moreso Paul, when this was recorded) were feeling particularly healthy as they discussed the Doom Patrol tie-in issues to this event. But enough about those 2 sickos! If you’d like to hear more about the DC Universe taking on these undead Lanterns, make sure to visit The Podcast of Oa and tune in to episode 138 for background info on the event - and then visit these fine podcasts for the rest of the story! Hey, friends! Welcome to The Chimera! We're an actual play RPG podcast bringing you strange fiction across a variety of genres and role-playing systems. In this little pre-episode, we're going to do a quick rundown of our different campaigns to help folks figure out where they'd like to jump on, and then at the end a very very quick overview of what an actual play podcast is, for the uninitiated. You can also find more detailed breakdowns, complete with character descriptions and art, on our website, thechimera.space. Our inaugural campaign is called The Old Bones. It's a superpowered science fiction game which takes place in an entirely home-brewed universe, drawing inspiration from cosmic Marvel & DC stories like Guardians of the Galaxy, New Gods, and Infinity Watch, where the setting is full of just about every kind of weridness you can think of, from space gods, to reality-bending technology, to living planets. Like most podcasts, the audio early on is a bit rough. We're working on a remaster, but it's not a quick process, so if sound quality is a sticking point for you, we sometimes recommend episode 8 an an alternative starting point, or you can just try a different season! Our second campaign is called Misplaced, which mixes the venerable Dungeons and Dragons campaign setting of Greyhawk with the surreal, conspiritorial mystery of Lost. Our ostensible heroes are trapped on a remote island filled with roaming terrors, bizarre magical architecture, and several hostile factions, but the greatest threat they face may be themselves. After Misplaced comes The House of Black Lanterns, which is technically a spinoff, although it doesn't require a whole lot of context from Misplaced. The House of Black Lanterns is a haunted hotel and casino that exists on the fringes of reality, and plays host to all manner of fantastical beings who seek to play for strange and unnatural stakes. We play the staff. And then we have Gallows Hill, set in our version of the World of Darkness, and populated by werewolves, vampires, fairies, mages, and other, stranger things. Our story takes place in the city of Salem, which has become a kind of sanctuary for supernatural beings, largely safe from the turf wars and in-fighting they usually have to deal with. The trade-off is that they have to be even more careful about tipping off the mortal populace--and that's where the Gallows Hill Sanitary Commission comes in. Gallows Hill also features a six-part world-building game, called Uncover Something Old. You can listen to it before starting Gallows Hill proper, but everything will still make sense if you decide to skip straight to the action. If you're not familiar with an actual play--such as The Adventure Zone, Critical Role, Friends at the Table, or Rude Tales of Magic--the general pitch is this: we play a table top role playing game, and we record it. It's kind of like a communal storytelling exercise, but with structured rules and, usually, some dice to add an element on unpredictability. There's all sorts of different approaches, but we try to maintain a balance between narrative immersion and giving folks a sense of what it feel like to be at the table, engaged in the process. I think that's all the important stuff, so I'll let get into the actual show now. If you'd like more information, you can find us online at thechimera.space. Enjoy!

On this show, we will be playing an interview from a group called, The Truth Booth. Maisie went along to meet them and find out about the project, how it works, the results so far and how it will evolve. See the link for the Truth Booth webpage: www.the-truth-booth.org Our "Short News" this time is regarding a Walter Womacka memorial that's been in Ikea bag storage for the last few weeks but recently has been re-located to Mitte, near Unter Den Linden by the housing association, WBM. Here's a link to Maisie's blog with documentation of the memorial: http://bit.ly/1axI0PK Before signing off... Maisie and Andrew had a chat about a recent video creation by the Goethe Institute of Germany. Not to spoil the surprise, but we don't think it's great.... Take a look for yourself on YouTube: http://bit.ly/1axI6qk Music this week from Phedre (Cold Sunday!) and House of Black Lanterns feat. Leni Ward (Shot You Down) The Spaeti team saw Phedre in a recent gig and found them to be most enjoyable.

Around Comics is back with another week of comic book discussion and recommendations. Chris, Tom and Sal talk about Barry Allen's return to comics in Flash: Rebirth, the new Warren Ellis series Ignition City and a different kind of vampire story in Dead Romeo. Other titles discussed include Jersey Gods, the return of Infinite Horizon and Mark Waid's new series Irredeemable. Ande Parks checks in and gives us an update on the reissue of his first graphic novel Union Station and helps Tom criticize the Bears new quarterback Jay Cutler. Listener voice mails ask what podcast would win a death match, what writer we would pick to be stranded with, and what Marvel characters would be good Black Lanterns. Featuring music by Morphine
