Improv is so much more than hilarious. It's a comedy writing tool, a key to unlocking our truest selves and a valuable collection of life lessons. Whose Line's Colin Mochrie is here to enlighten and entertain! He starred in the British and American versions of Whose Line Is It Anyway for over 30 years while also making hundreds of TV, film and stage appearances. Colin is an author, an actor, a touring performer and an activist. His stage shows include Asking For Trouble with fellow Whose Liner Brad Sherwood, and Hyprov… a unique blend of hypnosis and improv with noted hypnotist, Asad Mecci. Joining us on the panel to learn from Colin is Chicago's 13-year-old Lane Tech Improv Team Member Rowan Keel. His first question? “What do you do when you get a bad audience suggestion?” Colin is not stumped. We did, however, him a curve when we requested too much intel about his appearance in the first American Girl Doll movie, Kitt Kittredge in a rousing round of IMDB Roulette. But Colin was able to provide details about his time spent on the sets of: The Paul Anka Show, Goosebumps, The Drew Carey Show, The Tonight Show, Ted Lasso and his newest film, Magnetosphere! Plus, Colin shares improv wisdom as it applies to real life, his intriguing connection to Animutation and the powerful lessons he is learning from his trans daughter, Kinley. SUMMARY: For our last show in The Churn, we've brought back TV's Brad Sherwood. Paul's squirrel declined to return. We talk about Canadians who rate a postage stamp, mopping up stadium jail urine, getting a backstage pass to Weird Al, and Selena Gomez Oreos. Plus, Brad pitches Twenty Questions, and a Scoopardy.
Colin Mochrie may be the king of improv. He discusses his show coming up in New London with his good friend Brad Sherwood.
Have an extra cup of coffee because you are going to need to be on your toes to keep up with this week's Legend, improv comedy superstar, as well as a a fine television actor, Ryan Stiles. Born in the US, Ryan was raised in Vancouver, BC and got his start doing standup and writing for the CBC when he was tapped for the British version of Whose Line is it Anyway. He was lured back to the US as a regular in the Drew Carey show, then what do you know -- Drew launches a US "Whose Line" with Ryan front and center in the cast. That show has also spawned successful improv tours by the cast which continue to this day. Ryan also had a long run as a regular on the Two and a Half Men sitcom, and in his spare time he founded and occasionally appears at an improv comedy theater and school in his home of Bellingham, Washington. As always find extra clips below and thanks for sharing our shows! Want more Ryan Stiles? Ryan is known for improv but this is a fun bit -- produced by the Second City in a film noir fashion. https://youtu.be/CpSXAO-N_qQ?si=wB6qeA8Neyl0AGQB Whose Line started in the UK and one of the fun games was Questions Only! (yes, you can speak only in questions). Here's the UK cast in action (also including Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood). https://youtu.be/JcDzy6IgIcg?si=9NZHEC3T8sLr0lFF On the Drew Carey show, Ryan played Lewis Kinski, a buddy of Drew's, who was known for having the lamest pickup lines in town. Here's a few to avoid!https://youtu.be/mzIYmvhyyDk?si=JJ3231qEynqn-GvK Ryan is a community-minded guy, living in Bellingham, Washington. After his Whose Line fame he set up an improv theater where he occasionally appears as in this parody of a late night talk show -- Bellingham T'nite! https://youtu.be/tEc0mBm1lRs?si=FYLKnVH6nkNabWxx
One of the most renowned improv artists today best recognized from his 20 seasons as one of the stars of Whose Line Is It Anyway? Colin currently tours the country with his two acclaimed shows – Asking For Trouble with Brad Sherwood. Colin & Brad had the honor of headlining at the White House Correspondent's Dinner. And then there is Hyprov: Improv Under Hypnosis with Master Hypnotist Asad which also tours after completing a successful Off-Broadway run. In addition, Colin can be seen starring in the feature films – Hey, Viktor!, a Canadian mockumentary and Villians Inc. Colin was a regular for nine years on the British version of Whose Line Is It Anyway? Colin also finds to time reprise his role as private investigator Ralph Fellows in the Canadian mystery/crime drama The Murdoch Mysteries which airs on the Ovation Channel in the U.S. Other notable appearances include Amazon's LOL: Last One Laughing Canada where Colin took home first prize in the competitive series and a cameo role in the Kids In The Hall special which also aired on Amazon. Previously, Colin co-starred in CBC's TV movie A Christmas Letter, the theatrical film Boys vs. Girls opposite Kevin McDonald and was a featured in the documentary Act Social about the healing potential of applied improvisation. And last year, Colin received a Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best Lead Performance for his role in the webcast Mass Hysterical: A Comedic Cantata. Colin also authored Not Quite the Classics, published by Viking Books where he takes the first and last lines from familiar classics and reimagines everything in between, taking the reader in bizarre and hilarious new directions. In 2018, Colin was honored alongside comedienne Andrea Martin with the inaugural recipients of Canada's John Candy Award for Excellence in Comedy. An alumnus of Toronto's famous Second City troupe and life-long resident of Canada, he and his wife, actress and comedian, Debra McGrath, enjoy performing their own improv shows throughout the Canada. They are proud parents of their daughter Kinley who is transgender and have become supporters of Welcome Friend Association's Rainbow Camp which provides for LBGTQ teens.
TV's Brad Sherwood stops by to talk about his life in improv, starting with Second City on the West Coast, getting on to "Whose Line Is It Anyway?", teaming up with Colin Mochrie, touring India and Ireland, and creating MC Rove. Plus, Brad, Matt, and Jonathan Mangum are doing a Bucket Show at Majestic Rep on Feb. 17, a squirrel invades Paul's sanctum, and a 2024 Scoopardy.

Our Summer Throwback series continues. Is an ambivert a pervert? No, it's most of us! Maybe we are all just less funny versions of Colin Mochrie, who reveals he is, of course, an ambivert, someone who feels comfortable in social situations but also really enjoys time alone. You may know Colin as an extrovert, but he's often really introverted. He says he's afraid his neighbours might think he's a dick, when he's really just shy. Colin is a famous improv guy, he was on the U.K. and U.S. versions of “Whose Line is it Anyway” for decades. He is now doing big shows in L.A. with a hypnotist. He tells us why “Hyprov” is a perfect mix for improv. He also performs “Scared Scriptless” with comedian Brad Sherwood. His wife, Deb McGrath, who he met at Toronto's Second City, is also an improv pro. She is an extrovert! He says they just hide away in different corners of the house when the laughs run out. For more than three decades, Colin Mochrie has been out of his comfort zone, and he has loved every minute of it. The “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” star says that's the key to being good at improv comedy. Mochrie and fellow “Whose Line” alum Brad Sherwood are traveling the continent with their unscripted stage show “Asking for Trouble,” and they'll be in Peekskill on June 15. On this episode of “The Eagle,” Mochrie joins us to talk about the art of improv, and how it has shaped his life and career. Do you know what happens to the brain when we improvise? How does it differ from our brain activity during hypnosis? In this episode, Actor/Improvisor, Colin Mochrie will share his eye-opening experience when he collaborated with Dr. Charles Limb to unravel how the brain works during improv. Colin found himself improvising inside an MRI scanner for 1.5 hours, and the findings revealed a decrease in activity in the brain region responsible for self-criticism, coupled with an increase in creativity. Colin also shared that this is also the same thing that happens during hypnosis, part of the brain stops producing self-doubt and worry. Empower your mind to silence self-doubt, let your brain ignite the fire of possibility and propel you towards your greatest achievements. In this episode: Who we are as people is amplified during hypnosis. Colin learned from his debut on “Whose Line Is It Anyway” that he preferred taking action over doing nothing whatever the outcome may be. An artist is someone who is never content with what he/she is doing; you have to be curious about the world and other people. A little about Colin: ‘Colin Mochrie is an alumnus of Toronto's famous Second City comedy troupe. After nine years as a regular on the British improvisation series ”Whose Line Is It Anyway?'‘, he became a regular on the American version hosted by Drew Carey, which ran six years and is now being rebooted by the CW network. Colin was a cast member of CBC's ”This Hour Has 22 Minutes'‘ 2001- 2003. With his wife, Debra McGrath, he produced, wrote and starred in the CBC show ”Getting Along Famously” Currently, he is part of a very successful tour with “Whose Line” cast mate Brad Sherwood, performing a live improv show across North America. I'm very excited to share that today's guest is none other than Brad Sherwood! Of course you all know Brad from the Emmy nominated show Whose Line Is It Anyway where he performed for over 18 seasons as a regular. He is truly one of the greatest living American improvisers, and also has many other television credits like the Drew Carey Show, Talk Soup, The Newz, Improv-a-ganza, VH-1's: I Love The 80s & 90s, and The Tonight Show. Brad also tours comedy clubs around the US with his fast and furious comedy show, and has also been touring with fellow Whose Line member Colin Mochrie in a live two-man improv show. I still can't believe I had the chance to talk to this man! If you're a fan of Whose Line, you've definitely seen this guy before. Brad was so cool to talk to. This week, Ira spoke with Brad Sherwood, who (along with Colin Mochrie) will be performing in “Scared Scriptless” at the Pavilion Theater at Tropicana Laughlin June 25. In this episode of Talk About Las Vegas, Brad talks about why he liked being funny as a kid as a way to adjust to new circumstances; taking his first improv class and realizing he had found his career; why it's important to establish a relationship with the audience; why he doesn't have nerves before going on stage, but instead has “focused adrenaline”; how he was hired for “Whose Line Is It Anyway”; when he met Colin and how they became an act together; why their act appeals to a wide demographic: and why he considers improv a combination comedy show and a magic act.
When I heard who the ten comedians were for LOL: Last One Laughing Canada, my first thought was just give the trophy to Colin Mochrie now.Coming to Amazon Prime Video Feb. 18, the six-episode series follows similar LOL reality competitions featuring the best comics from Australia, France, Italy, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Spain and other countries. It features previous brioux.tv podcast guest Jay Baruchel as host and two other past guests among the competitors – Andrew Pfung and K Trevor Wilson. The others are Caroline Rhea (Sabrina the Teenage Witch), Debra DiGiovanni (Humour Resources), Dave Foley (The Kids in the Hall), Jon Lajoie (The League), Tom Green (The Tom Green Show), Mae Martin (Feel Good), and Brandon Ash Mohammed (This Hour Has 22 Minutes). That's a strong field, but Mochrie would still seem to have the edge. All those seasons keeping a straight face next to Ryan Stiles, Wayne Brady, Brad Sherwood and others on Whose Line is it Anyway should have him battle ready and steeled for success. Being married to a very funny lady, Deb McGrath, has also honed his skills working without a script. And, aye, being born in Scotland dona hurt either.Mochrie has also watched all of the other LOL's including the Australian one hosted by Rebel Wilson. We assess the competition, and both agree that Baruchel would be terrible at this game because he's an easy laugh. “He'd win if the game was who can swear the most,” says Mochrie.

Today on The Neil Haley Show, The Total Tutor Neil Haley will interview Brad Sherwood of Whoes Line Is It Anyway? Armed with nothing but their sharp wit, comedians Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood take to the live stage to create hilarious and original scenes in their latest two-man show – SCARED SCRIPTLESS. Known by TV audiences for their work on Whose Line is it Anyway? Colin & Brad improvise new material every night from audience suggestions and participation. “Interactive” in every sense of the word, Colin & Brad will take the audience on a comedic high-wire act…just like a live version of Whose Line! Their amusing, PG-rated family show includes variations on many of the games showcased on Whose Line Is It Anyway?, including “Sound FX” and “One Word Expert.” As Mochrie and Sherwood take caution to point out at the beginning of each show, the scenes that make up the act are entirely unscripted. Throughout the evening, the show becomes truly interactive as audience members are called to the stage to participate in the fun. Mochrie and Sherwood both rose to prominence on the improv TV series as frequent players in its original incarnation on Britain's Channel 4 and then as star performers on the American version of the TV show from 1998-2006. Before making comedy history with Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Mochrie starred in a variety of commercials, TV shows and movies. He was the recipient of the Canadian Comedy Award for Best Male Improviser in 2000 and the Canadian Comedy Award for Best Male Performance on the Canadian version of “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” the following year.
