Episode 372 is up and live now with yours truly trying out a monologue style episode to discuss the monumental experience I had last week going to see Metallica for the first time up at Lumen Field in Seattle. I drove up to the woods to sit and ponder this event and then laid it down on the ol' zoom recorder in the truck like the old days. It was a wild ride to say the least and a fantastic night with great friends and some new ones made. Ran into my dude Brock Lindow from 36 Crazyfists and his daughter in the snake pit, the homeboy Ryan J. Downey came along as well with his daughter, Dave and Brian from Botch showed up for dinner and my boy Mike Mowery set it all up for us and I am eternally grateful! The life experiences I live through doing this podcast continue to astound me and I am thankful to each and every one of you for making the show a success. I hope you enjoy, but its free and voluntary so it's ok if you don't haha. "WHAT THE FUCK AM I DOING HERE!!!???" We are now proudly presented by Sound Talent Media. @stmpodcasts Love the show? In this one, Cody talks to Brock Lindow of 36 Crazyfists. For 25 years, he was the vocalist of the band and, along with his bandmates, he wrote albums and performed songs, toured, connected with people at shows on a nightly basis and then repeated the cycle. He was 18 years old when 36 started — a founding member — and at that age, young bravado and vitality helped them be, as Brock puts it, a band of the people. They partied with fans before and after shows. They moved to Seattle, then to Portland, to pursue a dream of being rockstars. And they did it, they were rockstars. Kids from Alaska playing their music all over the United States, Europe and South Africa. Fans knew their lyrics, asked for autographs. And Brock appreciated all of it, but he never got comfortable with it. Fame just wasn't for him and he always longed for being back in Alaska, hanging out with his friends and commercial fishing with his dad. He's 47 now and he doesn't miss being on the road, driving endlessly from venue to venue. He prefers being with his family, hanging out with his friends, co-hosting the Bob and Brock Show on KWHL, and being his daughter's biggest fan at her hockey games. He says he's still learning how to manage his energy and his enthusiasm at her games though — sometimes it can be tough separating himself from his rockstar days to being the role model he needs to be for his family, but it's essential. And he hasn't given up on music, he probably never will. It tends to show up when he needs it most. Like during COVID, when everyone was navigating all of the uncertainty, he connected with a few old friends and a few new ones to form a new band called Paradise Slaves.
This week the nerds are joined by two guests Tyler stroetzel(once beloved, city of homes) and Brock Lindow(36 crazyfists) to talk about their new musical project Paradise Slaves along with all sorts of other musical musings! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/nerdsof/message

What do you do when two great bands have albums out on the same day? You get them both on the podcast for a double co-host special edition and that's what the plan is this week with Nikki Brumen of Pagan and Dez Fafara of DevilDriver. Firstly, the heavy/black metal Pagan from Melbourne are about to release their debut album Black Wash and so far we've heard nothing but great things from the band of misfits. In the time we were first introduced to them at Big Sound 2017, they've blown up across the country playing shows all over the joint and even securing an East Coast support slot on Rise Against's Wolves Tour. Being a women in the heavy music industry can be hard, but Nikki's "no holds barred" and "no-fucks-given" attitude towards topics such as gender imbalance and bigotry will certainly result in her leaving her mark and becoming a voice/force to be reckoned with. If you haven't listened to Pagan before today, guarantee you'll follow them up following this podcast. Dez Fafara on the other hand needs no introducion, but for the uninitated, he's been a key member of the heavy music industry fronting the bands Coal Chamber (RIP) and DevilDriver who are releasing their new album Outlaws 'til The End: Vol. 1 on Friday July 6th. The approach with this new album at first raised a few eyebrows, because the band have tackled country songs like 'Copperhead Road', 'Ghost Riders in the Sky' and Willie Nelson's 'Whiskey River' but with a heavy metal twist. All the songs have been given a heavier, faster and better makeover and even feature some special guests including Johnny Cash's son John Carter Cash, his wife Ana Christina, Lamb of God's Randy Blythe and Mark Morton, Burton C. Bell, Brock Lindow and many more. The heavy metaller turned country man more than happily explains his reasons for taking on this interesting approach and the stories behind the recording process, including Johnny Cash's love for heavy metal. There's also new music from A Breach of Silence, Temtris, Daybreak and Hellions, throwbacks from Sensaii, Heaven The Axe, Anthrax and Killswitch Engage + heaps more... #WoSUATW #Pagan #NikkiBrumen #BlackMetal #HeavyMetal #DezFafara #DevilDriver #BlackWash #OutlawsTilTheEnd #OutlawsTilTheEndVol1 #LambOfGod #JohnnyCash #ABreachOfSilence #Daybreak #AustralianBands #Hardcore #Sensaii #Temtris #HeavenTheAxe #Anthrax #ScottIsn #KillswitchEngage #KSE #Hellions #Podcast #MusicPodcast #WallOfsoundAU

36 Crazyfists vocalist Brock Lindow guests on the podcast this week to talk about the band's new album Time and Trauma and their upcoming tour with Nonpoint. Brock is not only the frontman of 36 Crazyfists, but he is also the father to a five-year-old, he's started his own hockey-themed sports bar, he co-hosts a podcast about craft beer and he's an all-around hard working dude. Chuck and Godless speculate whether Marty Freidman's alleged re-addition to Megadeth would have really been a "step back" for him or if he's missing a big opportunity. The mighty Gwar's legal woes became very complicated this week when a lawsuit brought by the father of late lead singer Dave Brockie came to light, but the band vehemently denied the accusations and have handled it all perfectly.
Interview aired the weekend of 2/13-2/15/15 on rock stations around the US. Go to fullmetaljackieradio.com for more info!
