Send us a textEver wondered what happens when a $55 million budget collides with an incoherent script? Welcome to our horrified exploration of "In the Lost Lands," quite possibly one of the worst movies ever committed to film.Based on a George R.R. Martin short story (though you'd never guess it), this fantasy disaster stars Mila Jovovich as Gray Alice—an "illusionist witch" with unexplained face tattoos—and Dave Bautista as Boyce, a mysterious traveler with a cool two-headed snake that disappears from the plot almost immediately. We're told there's only one human city left after some apocalyptic event, yet somehow there's a fully functional train, random barrels of oil, and endless nonsensical plot developments. The film's world-building crumbles under even the lightest scrutiny. Why are slaves mining rocks? How does the economy work? Why does everyone abandon executions before they're complete? Nothing adds up, and the movie never bothers explaining itself. Meanwhile, characters develop romantic feelings out of nowhere, powers work differently in every scene, and the big twist—that Bautista's character is actually the werewolf they're hunting—is both obvious from the start and poorly executed. What truly stuns us is how the film wastes its talented cast. Both Bautista and Jovovich have proven themselves capable actors, but here they deliver wooden performances with dialogue so bad that no performer could salvage it. One particularly egregious scene features Bautista's painfully delivered line "What kind of God is this?"—a moment so poorly executed it becomes unintentionally hilarious. If you enjoy dissecting cinematic disasters or have a high tolerance for absolute nonsense dressed up as fantasy, join us for this brutal breakdown of a film that somehow manages to fail at every fundamental aspect of storytelling. We promise you'll never look at werewolves, illusionists, or two-headed snakes the same way again.Written Lovingly with AIBe our friend!Dan: @shakybaconTony: @tonydczechAnd follow the podcast on IG: @hatewatchingDAT

What do Edgar Wright, Glen Powell, Stephen King, and Arnold Schwarzenegger have in common? A remake, of course! And this one sounds pretty good. We also talk about Mila Jovovich's next zombie movie. It is not another Resident Evil movie, but is the end of a looooong running franchise.Strange Darling received rave reviews upon it's release. While it didn't make the same box office impression of some other indie horror films released this year, those who had a chance to see it were impressed.Naturally, we talk about the awesomeness of Kyle Gallner, but how did the rest of the cast do? Was the non linear style necessary? And how well did it convey its themes? The Substance has been wowing audiences since winning the Best Screenplay award at its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. A gross body horror with an odd sense of humor, the film is big and bold. Whether it is disgusting scenes, flagrant nudity, or in your face messaging, the film is relentless. We talk about feminist messaging, when gratuitous nudity is actually necessary, and how to effectively cram a message down the audience's throat. Does this movie really check off all the boxes for Blake or was he just set up for a major disappointment? Is this truly Demi Moore's best performances? Were you looking to see a film adaptation of the previously unreleased, unannounced, and undeveloped Assassin's Creed: Viva Le France?! Then you've come to the right place, because this week, we've got a high-flying clock punk classic for you on our hands! On this episode of The CineMEH Podcast, Josh and Ryan cover the 2011 interpretation of The Three Musketeers helmed by acclaimed video game director Paul WS Anderson. Yes, that's right, video game nerds, that was an Aklaim joke. Also, despite the heavily video game influenced introduction, rest assured this movie has absolutely nothing to do with video games. It has ven less to do with Alexandre Dumas's classic work. In a spiraling, death-defying "tribute" to the original text, we'll take you to the soaring heights and abysmal lows of this unbelievably strange take on swordplay, gunslinging, romance and adventure. Every wonder what Leelo from 'The Fifth Element' got up to after her date with destiny? This movie attempts to answer that question. Not really. But that's Ryan's theory, anyway. Come along for the ride as we swing from chandelier to chandelier and try and make sense of this hamfisted attempt to invent a new action-adventure franchise in the wake of Pirates of the Caribbean leaving the screens. Yes. Wake. Like a ship's wake. Ships. Pirates. Get it? I promise you, this is the best the humor gets considering how much of a tragic misfire this movie is. Yes. Misfire. As in musket. I'll stop now. The Three Musketeers was released in 2011 and stars Orlando Bloom, Mila Jovovich, Mads Mikkelsen, Christof Waltz, and a bunch of other people who probably thought this would launch their careers and instead, they went down in flames. Down in flames. Because airships crashing. Just listen to the episode. The CineMEH Podcast is a Slyjack Media, LLC production Like what you hear? Ever wondered what it's like to share a scene with Arnold Schwarzenegger?   I had an absolute blast talking with the phenomenal actor Fraser James for the U-Triumph Podcast, and I'm thrilled to share this episode with you all.   Fraser's acting career is nothing short of impressive – we're talking Terminator: Dark Fate, sharing scenes with legends like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Mila Jovovich, and even gracing the stage of Shakespeare's Globe.   But this episode goes beyond the glitz and glamour, where Fraser kindly shares his insights and experiences into the hard work and dedication it takes to make it in this competitive field.    He delivers fantastic training tips, the importance of cultivating a rock-solid mindset, and a truly inspiring story connected to his most treasured stage performance.   Plus, Fraser's passion for promoting diversity in storytelling through projects like UnderExposed, which I was honoured to be a part of, is truly commendable. It was fantastic to hear his unique perspective and dedication to empowering others.   Whether you're an aspiring actor, a dreamer chasing your goals, or simply someone who enjoys a good conversation, be sure to take a listen to the most recent U-Triumph Podcast episode.

Well, Constantin, Capcom, and now Netflix have decided that the Resident Evil reboot we got fairly recently wasn't enough for fans... We're heading back to Raccoon City yet AGAIN. Not that I'm tired of these luxurious visits or anything, but I'd just rather have some consistency with this property on screen. This is one of the reasons I forever defend the Mila Jovovich series for being such a fun guilty pleasure. There was at least some type of continuity they attempted to keep going. But it there's more story to be fleshed out in a series, consider me to be one of those fans that's all for the flesh. Just minus the T-Virus. Enjoy, folks.

Hello, kaiju lovers and Forever Classic Gamers! This is a re-release of the most recent episode of The Forever Classic Podcast, which is hosted by my GigaGeek Magazine colleague, Alex McCumbers. Given that I'm the “kaiju academic,” as Alex puts it, and he's as hardcore a gamer as you can get, we figured we'd combine our knowledge and fandoms to review the 2020 Monster Hunter movie starring Mila Jovovich. This secret Toho movie (for real) is based on the monstrously (ba-dum-tssh) popular video game series from Capcom. So, if you wondered what I thought of this film, here you go! I might even start playing the games now! Alex's original show notes: With the release of the Monster Hunter film, Alex employs the expertise of his good friend Nathan Marchand, a Kaiju Academic, Writer, and Podcaster. Does the monumental game Monster Hunter World translate well into film? Not really, but that doesn't stop it from being fun. Event Horizon Review

Event Horizon is the best movie that Paul Anderson ever made and ever will make. It’s one of the most late 90’s movies you will ever see and has very Hellraiser aesthetic. Actually, now that I think of it, this movie is a mashup of Hellraiser and Alien mixed with a gimmicky action movie. It’s beloved by many, which makes it hard for me to do what I’m about to do. @dgoebel00 on Instagram provided this amazing artwork. Follow him and check out his website. (0:42) - Intro(7:36) - Trailer(11:12) - Synopsis(19:35) - Review(23:37) - Score(33:55) - Spoilers(1:13:10) - Final Recommendations(1:15:10) - WHOOOOORES Voicemail(1:25:30) - Outro https://youtu.be/OVlnER8SxfQ Synopsis Event Horizon starts with a very strong intro describing the far-flung future of 2015 and beyond! By 2015 we have already set up a colony on the moon. By present-day in the movie (2047), we have launched and lost a spaceship called Event Horizon that was meant to explore the boundaries of the solar system. The Event Horizon was lost around Neptune in order to avoid jokes about your butthole, and our ill-fated crew has been sent to determine what happened to the missing ship. Onboard the rescue vessel is Captain Miller (Laurence Fishburne) and Dr. William Weir (Sam Neill), who was the creator of the Event Horizon ship. Apart from them, you have a crew of stereotypical, disposable clods. Everyone is soon told by Dr. Weir that the Event Horizon vessel that he created was not a vessel made to explore the outer regions of the solar system, but a faster-than-light vessel meant to catapult humans around the universe. Everyone ends up with more existential terror than they bargained for… Event Horizon Review This is the first time that I’ve sat down and watched this movie from beginning to end, and I must say, I am not impressed. Granted, this movie is talked about lovingly by only the people who love it, and is almost never talked about at all by anyone who doesn’t like it. It seems to fly under the radar of movie hatred that other, more controversial movies are stuck with. I’m not saying that Event Horizon is bad – it’s not. It’s just that I heard so much praise for it from so many people that it probably inflated my expectations a bit. Watch Event HorizonWatch on Amazon nowClick here to Watch The main thing that this movie does well is borrow from other films that are quite successful at what they do, like Alien and Hellraiser. The aesthetic and setting of this are like a Warhammer 40k gothic sci-fi meets real-world futuristic scenario. The visuals are graphic and disturbing. The story is of a man gone mad by the invention he created, almost like Frankenstein. Everything else is not for me. The action is very run-of-the-mill fast cut bologna. The disturbing imagery, while disturbing, does absolutely nothing to amp up the tension or frighten. The concept is cool enough, but without great execution, it just falls flat. I want to like Event Horizon; it just doesn’t do a damn thing for me except remind me of a bunch of actually good things that were probably going through Paul Anderson’s dull head while he was creating this. Score 4/10 Paul Anderson’s Horrible Career Even though he married Mila Jovovich, I think Paul should be a little embarrassed about the life he leads. It’s based on the shoddiest of work on the most braindead of all projects. Event Horizon is his best work. Here are his biggest ventures to date. ‘Yasss or Passs: Blassst from the Passst!’ BIRTHDAY EDITION! JANUARY 1992! The Hand that Rocks the Cradle’: https://youtu.be/PKdoNXN1UyE - Can someone say: ‘Crazy Biiiiiiiitch?!’ In this highly suspenseful thriller, we see a lovely young couple named Claire and Michael who have a young daughter and just need a little help. So they go on the search for the perfect nanny and think they have found the perfect one when they stumble upon Peyton (Played by Rebecca De Mornay). Everything seems perfect in their world until Peyton begins acting creepy and making suggestive comments about Claire, Michael and their daughter Emma. Has all the ‘thrillery’ hijinx such as brooding stares across the room, whispering creepy things to children as they sleep and shattered glass falling from the heavens! Rolling onto the big screens like a stolen pram across a park, January 10th!  Kuffs’: https://youtu.be/ndT1r0Kw7Nw - Here comes the crime/comedy we’ve all been waiting for! One of the hottest young actors in Hollywood today, Christian Slater leads this whacky film about a young goofball named George who tries out for a special police unit but golly gosh, it’s just too much work! Somehow after getting himself into some trouble he finds himself the flipping BOSS of this team of agents as they hunt down killers…….or car thieves…… or rapists, or, who the hell knows?! All i know is this film is relying heavily on 22 year old Slater and a very young 17 year old actress named Mila Jovovich to carry this film, can they handle the hilarious burden? Roaming into theaters like a wayward camera into a fictional character's shower, January 10th! Freejack’: https://youtu.be/7Zxr-Y-5YyA - Wait a minute. Who is Jack? Why is he in prison? Or why does he not cost any money? I don’t know… BUT what i do know is the blockbuster Sci-Fi, Action, Thriller spot is taken this summer by the film ‘FreeJack’! The film tells of a Race Car Driver who unfortunately during a race gets into a fiery wreck and dies….. NEXT MINUTE OR SO, BAM, he’s been transported to the year 2009 where I believe his brain can be put into another's body, for the right price. But why him? Because everyone in 2009 is seemingly an idiot living in an apocalyptic world where men dress in tin foil and army tanks roam the street for funzies! Did i mention the film stars Emilio Estevez, Anthony Hopkins and Mick Gosh Dang Jaggar?! Yup. Crashing into theatres like a race car into a billboard, January 17!  Juice’: https://youtu.be/QsWto8p7t1E - Four Friends, FOUR Friends, FOUR FRIENDS!!! As the trailer explains, Four Friends from ‘da hood’, are trying to live their best lives always in chase of ‘The Juice’ (which i believe means money and power). ‘Q’, ‘Bishop’, ‘Steel’ and ‘Raheem’ decide one night to rob a corner store and make a little dough. Q isn’t so keen on the idea as he doesn’t want to put his Disc Jockey career in jeopardy but he goes along with it. Unfortunately for him, Bishop takes things a little too far and murders the corner store owner. Now they have weaved a tangled web of crime and betrayal and the man (aka, the Po-Po) are trying to hunt them down. Can they Get out of this without anymore bloodshed?  Cruising into theatres like a bullet in a robbery, January 17! Love Crimes’: https://youtu.be/T4xVCmsl9CA - Two of hollywoods ‘Hottest Video Rental Stars’ team up in this thriller about a District Attorney (played by Sean Young) who begins investigating a man she thinks may be impersonating a famous photographer. The man in question, played by the incredibly talented Patrick Bergin, impersonates a photographer and then seduces women into having sex with him while he flaunts about with his chizzled jawline and perfect hair. He is every woman's dream AND every woman's nightmare. Is what he is doing a crime? “Is lying a crime” the trailer asks? Yes. Yes it fucking is. Jesus H Christ… Sliding into theatres like a sleezeball’s penis into an unwilling vagina, January 24!   @2c3pod Aussie Pop Culture Podcast ~ 2 Episodes every Wednesday and Friday + YOUTUBE bonus content.  Podbean, Stitcher, Spotify, Apple Podcasts & Youtube Join our Patreon and support the show to gain exclusive access to other goodies!PATREON Check out our socials to keep in contactTwitter, Facebook & Instagram Twitchwww.twitch.tv/mitchell_tctpwww.twitch.tv/dylan2c3pod

It's the start of our Resident Evil Series with, unsurprisingly, the first Resident Evil Movie staring Mila Jovovich and Directed by Paul W.S. Anderson. Anderson is an interesting case as he appears to one of the few directors to thrive making video game adaptations, unlike other directors who seem to have been crushed by the experience. Paul W.S. Anderson is the first director to make a repeat appearance, as he previously directed Moral Kombat. Luc Besson Space Operas. Sarah Watt, Max Tarrant, Jeremy Downing and William Chen discuss the films Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017) and The Fifth Element (1997). The discussion touches on gender politics and romance stories in both films. We talk about the connections to other films, like Blade Runner, Stars Wars, Avatar, Indiana Jones and Singin’ in the Rain. Luc Besson clearly loves the story he is telling in both films. We discuss other visual directors, like Peter Jackson, Terry Gilliam, Sam Rami and George Lucas, and how too much money makes their films too long. Both films have strong female actors in the central roles, with Mila Jovovich and Cara Delevingne. We compare the casts in both films, with limited strong performances in Valerian, and a strong cast in The Fifth Element. We return to the gender politics in both films, initially around the juvenile depiction of the female leads and the non-traditional depiction of specific male characters. We compare the music in both films: the forgettable music in Valerian and the dated music in The Fifth Element. The visuals in both films, particularly Big Market in Valerian and the cityscape in The Fifth Element, are impressive.
