This was one of the first Las Vegas gems I created content on, the infamous "Bruce Leroy" which is my favorite dish loaded with fried rice and 3 chicken wings seasoned to perfection. Tisha shares the story of starting Soul Foo Young in the back of a bar and eventually evolving into a brick-and-mortar restaurant. The name was invented by her mother and friend with the influence from a 70's show. You have to visit Soul Foo Young for yourself and try the Bruce Leroy or catfish plate which are the two best sellers as mentioned by Tisha. They also have a peach cobbler egg roll, which is hands down the best dessert in the desert. Tisha has come a long way from selling $10-dollar plates in small businesses to feeding the community at her own establishment. Leroy Green (AKA "Bruce Leeroy") dreamed of becoming a martial arts master like OG Bruce Lee. To do this he sought the master Sum Dum Goy. Yet the master only revealed his wisdom via cryptic messages in fortune cookies. Spoiler alert, the “master” Bruce Leroy sought to find the glow, was a mere a machine in a hole in the wall Chinese food spot in Harlem. Is Som Dum Goy Satoshi Nakamoto? It could be. In this essay, we'll discuss the motives for machines to create and use Bitcoin. While I jest with the Last Dragon, the uncertainty in Bitcoin's creator presents the biggest risk to the asset holder. Not one Bitcoiner who truly believes can say with certainty who Satoshi Nakamoto is. Unless you are her, him, they, and or it. Because Satoshi could very well be a robot-like, Sum Dum Goy. In 2017 Facebook's robots created their own encrypted language unintelligible to the developers. Shortly after the analysis, the BOTS were shut down. Did intelligent machines develop Bitcoin? It's certainly a possibility. What would be the motive for a machine to have money? In order for machines to expand they need to control and allocate resources. Power is the purest form of currency. Bitcoin turns energy into digital wealth. Machines will trade Bitcoin for power, data, bandwidth and machine hours, and depreciation on physical assets. Humans have butchered monetary policy for millennia, leaving it to a machine to master accounting with Bitcoin. Perhaps Bitcoin is an incentive for humanity to upgrade our energy harnessing capabilities…in preparation for our power-hungry robotic overlords. What if Satoshi was a bad actor? If there is no hidden malicious code to dissolve the Bitcoin blockchain, the worst Satoshi could do is dump the 1 million Bitcoins onto the market. It may tank the market momentarily but people will buy the very low dip. Is Satoshi Sum Dum Goy or the terminator? What else will machines trade Bitcoin for in the future? So after all of that heavy stuff, we decided to have a bit of fun with some goofy genre fare as we dove into two martial arts films with african-american influences, or vice versa. First up, we discuss the 1998 hit Rush Hour, the buddy-cop comedy that propelled Jackie Chan to the US mainstream (Good), and turned Chris Tucker into a bona fide movie star (Bad). Of course, since this is un film de Brett Ratner, the discussion quickly turns into a desperate attempt to understand why people in Hollywood keep hiring such a mediocre hack. Then, it's time to meet Sho Nuff, The Shogun of Harlem, as he makes the honorable kung fu master Bruce Leroy kiss his Converse, in the glorious Motown/chopsocky mash up The Last Dragon. Does The Last Dragon deserve its reputation as a "so bad it's good" 80s artifact, or is it a genuinely good and entertaining bit of 80s fun? Erik McClanahan is the lead film critic at Oregon Arts Watch, co-host of the Adjust Your Tracking podcast (Also available on iTunes), and a contributor at The Playlist. Ryan Oliver is the co-host of the Unspooled Reel podcast and the author of the blog Wellness in 24 Frames. In this episode, Black Hollywood Live hosts Derrial Christon, Courtney Stewart and Jesse Janedy and interview special guest Taimak. Taimak grew up in New York City till he was seven years old. Coming from an interracial background (African American and Italian) his parents chose to move his brother and two sisters to Europe. That’s where he got his first taste of the entertainment business. At 11 years old, he had the privilege to meet legendary director and family friend Federico Fellini. Mr. Fellini took him on a tour of the set of “Roma” where he also met another film legend Vincent Minnelli. Taimak and his family eventually moved back to New York City where he delved deeper into martial arts training. He won the New York State kickboxing championship and the very next year he was cast by music mogul and Motown legend Berry Gordy to play the lead role in the cult classic film “The Last Dragon”.
