On this episode of the Additive Insight podcast, we're joined by Croom Medical R&D Manager Dr Shane Keaveney. Croom Medical is an orthopaedic device manufacturer that produces more than 250k implants every year. The company was founded in the 1980s and began exploring the suitability of additive manufacturing technology for the production of such devices around 15 years ago. Today, Croom Medical would consider itself an expert user of laser powder bed fusion, having deployed the technology to create porous structures that facilitate bone in growth for several years. The company also commenced an R&D project in partnership with Global Advanced Metals on the 3D printing of tantalum in 2020. As Keaveney joins the Additive Insight podcast, he shares his thoughts on how materials development is helping the company advance with AM, explains why Croom has focused so much R&D effort on the printing of tantalum, and details how it works with organisations outside of the medical sector. This episode of Additive Insight is sponsored by ASTM International's Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence. Visit https://amcoe.org/ for more information.

Pain will always be a part of life. You will always find countless hurdles and roadblocks in your journey, and sometimes they will pull you down and hurt you. But you have to do everything in your power to not stay on the ground and get back up. Hakeem Croom's story embodies this mindset, which he explores in this conversation with Gary Schoeniger. Before becoming an educator, life coach, author, and speaker, he was shaped by the harsh realities of his hometown Harlem, surrounded by poverty, addiction, and uncertainty. Hakeem shares how basketball became a lifeline for him, pulled him away from the streets, and brought him to Military School that forever transformed his life. Tune in on this story of grit, growth, and grace.

Why have reinsurance start-ups remained so rare in recent years, even as underwriting conditions have improved?Mereo Advisors is one of the few carriers to successfully raise capital, although Mereo Insurance CEO and CUO David Croom-Johnson told Behind the Headlines that the process was at times “torturous”.Croom-Johnson explains how the business has now written its first $100mn of business, and how he aims to build a diversified portfolio to weather market cycles. And although he sees “great attractions” in the Lloyd's market, to begin with the business will focus on building as a Class 3B Bermudian reinsurer, without the distraction of launching a syndicate.Plus, Insurance Insider editor Fiona Robertson discusses what Donald Trump's tariffs might mean for the sector.

Agencies are an integral partner and part of the marketing process for many brands. But when it comes to incorporating inclusion into the work brands produce, if the agency isn't an inclusive marketing or multi-cultural marketing agency, infusing inclusion isn't something that always happens consistently. So that's why I was excited to sit down with my guest today, Kumi Croom, Managing Director at Duncan Channon, a marketing agency, who's done a really fantastic job of operationalizing inclusive marketing into the way her agency shows up and delivers for clients. We are heading down to Florida for this one. The Long Haul 100 miler consists of 6, 16.7 mile loops and runners have 32 hours to complete the race. However, this race is also a Western States qualifier, so if you finish this race in under 30 hours, you also earn your ticket to the Western States lottery. The race takes place in January each year, so for those looking to get that States lottery ticket, it allows you to knock that out early in the season. The Long Haul 100 is held in Colt Creek State Park in Lakeland, FL, is Trail Sister Approved and is great for runners looking to take on their first 100 and there are also a ton of veterans that flock to this race. We had a great time learning about this race, so take a few minutes and listen to get the inside scoop from the Race Director himself, Andy "Croom" Mathews. Race spotlight recommended by Rusty Smith. In honor of Juneteenth this week, we are re-sharing Kia Croom's episode on fostering inclusion in your organization. When the country shut down in March 2020, Kia Croom realized the shift to remote work also shifted justice, equity, and inclusion dynamics. Since then, Kia has been working to disrupt and challenge the norms that lead to lack of inclusion in the nonprofit sector. She joins us today to share why this is an essential conversation for your own nonprofit and steps leadership can take to build an inclusive organization. Bo and the crew talk about the Touhy family speaking on the Michael Oher lawsuit, the history of Sylvester Croom and Houston Nutt, and the best teams in the NFC in the second hour of the show live in the BankPlus Studio. The guys list a quote from Sean Touhy Jr. on Michael Oher and talking about how Oher knew about the conservatorship before February of this year. Bo and the crew look at Dalvin Cook and Ezekiel Elliot signing one year deals and what could happen for RB's going forward. The guys look at where the running backs have a future and believe that the age of giant contracts for the position is long gone. Bo and the crew look at the history of when Michael Oher played at Ole Miss and who coached for both the Rebels and the Bulldogs at the time. The guys talk about when Mississippi State lost to Maine and when Ole Miss lost to Jacksonville State and the shame surrounding both games. New Orleans Saints and LSU insider Mike Detillier joins the show on the Farm Bureau guest line talking about the top 5 NFC teams, the QB situation with the 49ers and if the Cowboys can still make the playoffs live in the BankPlus Studio. Mike breaks down the top 5 teams in the NFC and starts with the Eagles. Mike believes the offense is set in stone but the defense has question marks with new Georgia rookies filling gaps. Mike goes into San Francisco at #2 and says that he thinks the true QB is Brock Purdy. Mike puts Seattle at #3 because of their young talent but isn't sure how far Geno Smith can take the team. Mike gives Detroit the #4 spot because of their young aggressive team and puts Dallas and New Orleans at a tie for #5. Mike talks about how the running back position in Philadelphia is done by committee and how the rest of the league may be leaning towards this format for the position. Bo and Mike talk about Seattle and Mike believes that the Seahawks could surprise the 49ers in the NFC West and take control over the #1 spot. Mike says he does not see the Rams to make a comeback next season due to the lack of strength on their offensive line and too many questions on the team. Mike Detillier looks at the quarterback situation in San Francisco and thinks the team made a mistake with Trey Lance at quarterback because of the potential Brock Purdy has exhibited. Mike says that Trey Lance is struggling and it seems like the game comes more naturally to Brock Purdy, making it a possibility the team wasted a pick on the higher QB. Bo and Mike talk about the possibility of the Cowboys still making the playoffs even if the NFC East is won by the Eagles. Mike talks about how hiring Mike McCarthy as head coach was a taking a big chance and wonders if the risk pays off. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
