Snoop Dogg, Snoop Lion, The Doggfather, The Snooper, & Calvin Broadus. A key artist to emerge from the early 90's gangsta-funk era, Snoop Dogg evolved beyond his rap beginnings to become a lovable pop culture fixture.  How is that even possible?  What range.  It's Frank Sinatra singing death metal.  Lend an ear as Kennedy & Clarke raid the Dogg Pound to see what's inside.

The 1990's were filled with high profile criminal trials for some of the most famous entertainers in the world.  Michael Jackson and OJ Simpson headlined a list of extremely public trials, mostly centered in California. One case which seems to be getting lost amidst this glut of criminal prosecutions is the murder charge brought against a young up-and-coming gangster rap artist named Calvin Broadus, who adopted the stage name Snoop Doggy Dogg.A few months prior to the release of his first studio album, Broadus was arrested for the murder of rival gang member Philip Woldemariam.  He, along with his bodyguard Malik Lee, argued that Woldemariam was shot and killed in self-defense during an altercation in a public park in Los Angeles. In this episode we discuss affirmative defenses, stand your ground laws, and what happens when a jury deadlocks on only some charges, but arrives at a verdict on others.Paul hopes you enjoy this throwback!

Chris & Kelsey finally find out why he's called Pumpkinhead when his head isn't shaped like a pumpkin! The Classic Film: Pumpkinhead (1988) "After a tragic accident, a man conjures up a towering, vengeful demon called Pumpkinhead to destroy a group of unsuspecting teenagers” (IMDb.com). Famed creature creator Stan Winston's directorial debut is the sort of film that most people outside the general horror fandom probably haven't even heard of, but it garners certain respect among the faithful and for good reason. We wouldn't say it's "stellar" but it's certainly charming and very enjoyable. Oh, and Pumpkinhead be throwin' folks. The Modern Film: A Quiet Place (2018) "In a post-apocalyptic world, a family is forced to live in silence while hiding from monsters with ultra-sensitive hearing” (IMDb.com). A Quiet Place may be a motherlode for pedants, but to fall down that hole would be to miss the incredible performances and atmosphere that make the movie pretty dang good. Plus, it makes Chris cry. Mondays can be a funky, dog-faced, bitch, word to Calvin Broadus. We've got to constantly apply that pressure to Mondays and NEVER let off!!! "Live In Front Of A Studio Audience" is a marvel idea. Bravo Jimmy Kimmels, bravo. Rick Ross' latest album, "Richer Than I Ever Been," is a solid project. Big Boi and Sleepy Brown's latest release, "Big Sleepover," was not and that's all I'll say about that on here. The Golden Child (12/12/86) didn't do the numbers or make as big of an impact as Beverly Hills Cop, but it was a film that happened during the Eddie Murphy Mania of the '80s, and you had to at least witness it in real time, to fully grasp the magnitude of that era. On this episode of the Sofa King Podcast, we talk about the one and only Snoop Dogg. This is a true rags to riches story. He was born as Calvin Broadus to a poor single mom in Long Beach. Through an amazing talent as a freestyle rapper and a lifelong career, he has grown to be a media mogul worth over $150 Million. However, his life as a rapper almost ended as soon as it started since he was arrested for a gang murder just after recording his first album with Dr. Dre. He was acquitted and went to create some of the all-time greatest lyrics in all of rap. With a smooth and unique voice and style, Snoop Dogg ended up befriending Martha Stewart, hosting the Olympics, creating a line of weed, and turning Colonel Sanders Vegan. His story is as unique as his rap style, and by the end of this you'll know what's his mutha fu*king name!   Visit Our Sources: https://www.biography.com/musician/snoop-dogg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snoop_Dogg https://wealthygorilla.com/snoop-dogg-net-worth/ https://www.phactual.com/15-bizarre-facts-about-snoop-dogg/ https://www.factinate.com/people/30-facts-about-snoop-dogg/ https://thebeet.com/snoop-dogg-beyond-meat-tailgate/ https://plantbasednews.org/lifestyle/snoop-doggs-raves-vegan-kfc/ https://www.huffpost.com/entry/snoop-dogg-weed-line_n_56433db1e4b06037734701bf

Chris & Kelsey shave their heads, apply a very stylish smoky eye, and just go ham with a machete on a corpse. And all with a kickass 90s soundtrack. The Classic Film: Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984) "After being mortally wounded and taken to the morgue, murderer Jason Voorhees spontaneously revives and embarks on a killing spree as he makes his way back to his home at Camp Crystal Lake” (IMDb.com). Well, this is it. He finally bites it. While it absolutely isn't the last we'll see of Jason, The Final Chapter is the end of the Friday the 13th franchise as we know it. It's pretty much all downhill from here. The Modern Film: Fear Street: Part One - 1994 (2021) "A circle of teenage friends accidentally encounter the ancient evil responsible for a series of brutal murders that have plagued their town for over 300 years. Welcome to Shadyside” (IMDb.com). Part One of Netflix's and R.L. Stine's Fear Street Trilogy sets things off with a bang in a teen horror that was better than we thought it was going to be, despite its perhaps overly effusive celebration of the 90s—a decade that, we must stress, we love very much. Aujourd'hui : « Nuthin' but a 'G' Thang » de Dr. Dre ft.
